Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I continue my year in review, and today I am talking about tackling environmental toxins. It's an unfortunate reality in our world today that our environment is filled with invisible toxins that, excuse me, can build up and disrupt our health, from exhaust fumes, from car cars getting on your skin as you're walking down the street, to what's in our airways, what's in our waterways. We've got all sorts of chemicals in our waterways. We've got birth control, medication, we've got all sorts of antibiotics that are just getting into our waterways, they get flushed down the toilet, and then they're still in our drinking water. We've got heavy metals in our drinking water, like aluminum, and we've got other chemicals in our drinking water. And the thing is, is if we spend all of our time getting worried about all the toxins that are out there, that's scary, and can put us in a place of fear, which we don't want, because that tanks our immune system. What we do want, though, is to recognize that this is our reality, and then what can we do about it? And so what we want to do is reduce our exposure wherever we can. So using water filters in the home, using clean products, and sourcing all of your products, from your cleaning products to your personal care products from clean providers, as well as avoiding plastic containers wherever possible. And it's just about taking small steps and switching one product at a time and switching before you run out. Because I will say that in order to buy clean I end up buying online. And if you run out then and you need to buy online, it's something you use daily. You're just going to go to your local drugstore and buy something, and that is isn't clean in most cases. So on my website, at your guided health journey.com, I do have a Resources tab. And underneath that, I have my recommendations, and I will put that link in the show notes below, because those are the recommendations that I have for the clean products that I have sourced and that I use myself. And the other thing, of course, is what I talk about all the time, detoxing, detoxing the physical body, and that just helps to give our liver a reboot and get it functioning properly again. And it is so important because we're not actually getting the nutrients from our nutrient depleted soil into our body that are allow our liver to actually convert toxins to being water soluble so that we can excrete them, and then our liver, when it can't excrete them, it stores them in our fat closets to keep it out of our bloodstream. So that's why I do quarterly detoxes, because I know the toxins are always coming in, and I make sure I always keep getting them back out, and then I don't stress about it. It's a reality, and I just do what I can to lower my risk and make sure that anything that is getting in is also getting back out. So I have also created my detox program, my health kickstart and detox program, as an online course, which you can find it's a self guided course. You can find that on my website as well under training. Go down to self guided courses. Actually, I lie. It's not under training anymore. I pulled it out. It's under training. And it's the first thing there, health, kickstart and detox, and it is actually a self guided course now, so that you can do it whenever the timing works for you. And I highly recommend that you watch the first video before you start the detox, so that you are set up for success, because that video is all about setting you up for success, including deciding the best timing to start your detox. And I will remind you, there is never a perfect time, so we make the best of the time and do quarterly detoxes throughout the year so that we don't have to worry about the reality that we live in a toxic world. So I'll put those links in the show notes. And I did a whole series on toxins in our environment. And if that's something that you want to dive into more, you can find that starting at episode 423 right through to sorry, 403 right through to Episode 417 education is power. Knowledge is power. So when you know this stuff, you can choose to do something about it, as opposed to ignoring it. And then later, when you have some chronic illness diagnosis, wondering how it happened. Well, toxicity in our body is one big factor in the level of chronic illness that we have in the world today. So choose to help reduce your toxic load.
