Welcome back to another edition of health hack. And this week I have decided to talk about hydration as most of the world or at least the northern hemisphere is in the heat of summer and my question to you is, are you hydrating enough and perhaps you didn't realize that 60% of your body mass is water. And in fact the heart and the lungs, sorry, the heart and the brain are 73% water, the lungs are 83% water, the skin is about 64% water, the kidneys are 79% water and even the bones have water in them 31% Of Your bones are water and this is per some research that was done back in 1945 by Dr. Named Mitchell. So it is really important to be hydrating and even more so in the heat really you should be drinking 50% of your body weight in water every single day that gives your body a good flush and it gives the water to the organs that need it and it allows your body to be you know functioning at its best when it's well hydrated when it isn't well hydrated. It gets you know kind of dried up like a prune and your organs struggle to function at their optimal best. You might have bowel movements on this that are lean more towards constipation. And it's just not a good thing. So 50% of your body weight in water. What does that mean? Well, you take your body weight in pounds, so say you weigh 150 pounds 50% of that is 75 pounds, you convert that to ounces, which so you just say 75 ounces, that's how much water you should be drinking every single day. And that's almost 10 cups of water. So just stop and ask yourself, are you drinking 10 cups of water. Now in my next episode, I'm actually going to talk more about good hydration versus drinks that are not considered hydration because of course not every beverage is hydrating So tune back into learn what makes something good hydration versus something that is not hydrating your body. Well
