Speaker A:

My clients have found freedom and purpose from overcoming their shame stories and learning

Speaker A:

how to share them with the world.

Speaker A:

I am so grateful you are here.

Speaker A:

Let's get started.

Speaker A:

Foreign.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to the show.

Speaker A:

We are still the beginning of January and

Speaker A:

happy 2026.

Speaker A:

And I know this is a time when people are setting big goals.

Speaker A:

They've done vision boards.

Speaker A:

Maybe you've already done your vision board or

Speaker A:

you've thought about it and a you don't have to do a vision board.

Speaker A:

That's not a requirement.

Speaker A:

It is one tool and technique that people use when it comes to really being clear on the

Speaker A:

vision that they want to create for them and how they will manifest and work towards that.

Speaker A:

So I want to talk to you today about like before you actually set the goals,

Speaker A:

or if you have set the goals,

Speaker A:

how can you build the identity that can hold them?

Speaker A:

Because I often say that the vision is not the problem.

Speaker A:

The vision, the dream that drops down for you,

Speaker A:

where the disconnect happens, is how can you become the version of you who can hold that?

Speaker A:

That is identity work.

Speaker A:

And so I want to talk to you a little bit

Speaker A:

about what identity is, because it's something that you hear a lot about in the online space

Speaker A:

and there's a little bit more to it.

Speaker A:

So I want to give a little bit more of an NLP explanation of it and anchoring this in for

Speaker A:

you.

Speaker A:

Everyone is setting goals right now.

Speaker A:

They're buying new planners, new vision

Speaker A:

boards, new calendars for their walls, like setting the big, big goals for the year.

Speaker A:

And instead the question that I want you to ask yourself is,

Speaker A:

who is the version of me that can actually hold this?

Speaker A:

Who is that version?

Speaker A:

So how can you make this year feel different? Not because of what you want, because of who

Speaker A:

you're becoming.

Speaker A:

And we want to speak all about identity first and strategy second.

Speaker A:

Because strategy without the identity work will not create results not that you hold and

Speaker A:

results that you can continue.

Speaker A:

It is the identity work first.

Speaker A:

I've actually been in this Space in the last

Speaker A:

few weeks where I've made a really big decision in my business that is huge and

Speaker A:

investment wise, time wise, energy wise,

Speaker A:

and instead of focusing only on do I have that clear path to make the strategy to make the

Speaker A:

investment,

Speaker A:

I really spent time on the identity of the version of me who actually is that person.

Speaker A:

How does she show up? How does she share?

Speaker A:

How does she show up for her business herself? What does that look like?

Speaker A:

And so this is just a perfectly timed episode and I know I'm not the only person who is

Speaker A:

going to be able to take away something from this episode.

Speaker A:

Plus I'm actually sharing it's called a Visionary Soiree night for the High Vibe women

Speaker A:

in Waterloo, Ontario.

Speaker A:

If you are near Waterloo on January 9th and I

Speaker A:

that is the date this episode comes out.

Speaker A:

So there might be some tickets left if you want to reach out to me.

Speaker A:

I am going to be teaching people how to do vision boards differently and it really does

Speaker A:

come down to this piece of it.

Speaker A:

So let's talk about what is identity.

Speaker A:

Identity is the deepest level of change in

Speaker A:

nlp.

Speaker A:

That's what it is.

Speaker A:

It's the deepest level of change.

Speaker A:

And without making change in identity, you're not creating lasting change.

Speaker A:

Identity is who you believe that you are.

Speaker A:

It's the lens that you wear that shapes your

Speaker A:

thoughts, emotions, actions, decisions, choices, possibilities,

Speaker A:

all of it language that you use.

Speaker A:

It is the lens your identity.

Speaker A:

Your identity determines your ceiling, how far you're going to allow yourself to grow and

Speaker A:

your floor, your beliefs in yourself.

Speaker A:

As you've heard me say many times,

Speaker A:

the ceiling is up here.

Speaker A:

That's the biggest thought that we have for

Speaker A:

our life.

Speaker A:

The floor is your deepest belief.

Speaker A:

Your floor will be the problem every single

Speaker A:

time.

Speaker A:

That's your beliefs.

Speaker A:

Identity is the lens that you wear that shapes your thoughts and beliefs, actions, choices,

Speaker A:

decisions about yourself.

Speaker A:

So your identity is determining both.

Speaker A:

Your habits don't create your identity.

Speaker A:

You can literally go to the gym, you can do all of the habits, check them off.

Speaker A:

If you don't see yourself as the version of the person who is doing that,

Speaker A:

then it doesn't change your identity.

Speaker A:

Your identity actually creates your habits.

Speaker A:

So habits don't create the identity.

Speaker A:

The identity creates the habits.

Speaker A:

So someone who wants to write a book,

Speaker A:

right? 82% of the people actually want to write a

Speaker A:

book.

Speaker A:

Only less than 1% actually do,

Speaker A:

versus the identity of an author.

Speaker A:

If you see yourself as an author,

Speaker A:

and I've witnessed this firsthand,

Speaker A:

absolutely firsthand, people come to me with their book completely done and ready to go and

Speaker A:

so scared to put it out in the world because of what will everyone think or say?

Speaker A:

And there's no criticism in this.

Speaker A:

Like my bestseller was eight years ago.

Speaker A:

I know that feeling.

Speaker A:

I know that feeling.

Speaker A:

I just didn't understand identity work then.

Speaker A:

But somebody who identifies themselves as an author, honestly, they're like, my book's

Speaker A:

going out.

Speaker A:

I got people to help.

Speaker A:

I don't give a **** what anyone else thinks.

Speaker A:

They just have a different mentality,

Speaker A:

different results and different way of thinking.

Speaker A:

Not better, worse, or the same.

Speaker A:

It's just they led with identity.

Speaker A:

They can see themselves as that author.

Speaker A:

They recognize it clearly.

Speaker A:

Okay, so why does identity work have to come before goal setting?

Speaker A:

Most people do reverse the process, right? They set the goals that their identity isn't

Speaker A:

calibrated for.

Speaker A:

So you want to be able to sit in where you are today and feel so grounded and certain and

Speaker A:

loving and knowing in yourself that who you are, what you're creating, what you're doing,

Speaker A:

is the version of you that you're continuing to grow into.

Speaker A:

What do I mean by this? If you're sitting in a space of like, I hate

Speaker A:

my life, I'm not where I want to be.

Speaker A:

This sucks.

Speaker A:

I'm doing something different this year.

Speaker A:

That comes from a complete lens of lack.

Speaker A:

That is not the identity of the person who has

Speaker A:

set massive goals for the year.

Speaker A:

So it comes down to anchoring into yourself first,

Speaker A:

leading from a grounded space and feeling like, what I have right now,

Speaker A:

I'm proud of myself, and I know that I can do more.

Speaker A:

I know that I can build more.

Speaker A:

So when it comes to this,

Speaker A:

we are wanting to set goals that our identity can be calibrated to.

Speaker A:

Okay? So vision boards, they don't fail because your

Speaker A:

goals are wrong or because they're not good enough or because the vision board doesn't

Speaker A:

work.

Speaker A:

But if your identity doesn't change, it won't

Speaker A:

match the board.

Speaker A:

Now, one quick thing about the board, if you've listened to this, you've heard this

Speaker A:

before.

Speaker A:

Please do not put pictures on your board of other people,

Speaker A:

okay? They're not you.

Speaker A:

I want.

Speaker A:

It needs to be you.

Speaker A:

You have to be able to see it through your own eyes and see yourself in the picture.

Speaker A:

Both have to happen, associated and dissociated.

Speaker A:

That's how our brain starts to feel and understand that this is who I am and this is

Speaker A:

what's happening.

Speaker A:

Okay? Without identity work, you know what happens.

Speaker A:

I can tell you.

Speaker A:

But you already know because you've lived it.

Speaker A:

I know you have,

Speaker A:

because we're all striving and continuing to move forward.

Speaker A:

Without identity work, you will self sabotage primarily from a way of self protection.

Speaker A:

You will revert to old patterns.

Speaker A:

You won't see opportunities that don't match

Speaker A:

your self image.

Speaker A:

So if you have an opportunity that comes up

Speaker A:

and it's like an incredible opportunity for something that you can do,

Speaker A:

you can build, you can have.

Speaker A:

If your self image doesn't match that,

Speaker A:

immediately your message is like, well not yet.

Speaker A:

Like that's crazy.

Speaker A:

I can't do that yet.

Speaker A:

Your nervous system won't feel safe to hold what you're expanding into.

Speaker A:

So I have an opportunity that's come up in the last two months and it is for my coaching

Speaker A:

certification.

Speaker A:

Outspoken,

Speaker A:

funny story,

Speaker A:

but the way it unfolded almost three years ago, two and a half years ago,

Speaker A:

it was unconventional.

Speaker A:

I actually went a different route.

Speaker A:

I didn't use the board certified way of doing it because of my own personal preference.

Speaker A:

Another story.

Speaker A:

And as a result I actually have been approached by a company who is looking at

Speaker A:

bringing this program on board with their programs and we're still working out details

Speaker A:

but the opportunity is unreal.

Speaker A:

Wouldn't have existed before.

Speaker A:

And I'll tell you, when the opportunity first came up, immediately I felt myself contract

Speaker A:

and it was like, holy ****, can I do that? Like can I actually do that?

Speaker A:

Can I bring it to that many more people? Can it become global?

Speaker A:

And all of a sudden I could feel all these parts of myself contracting in fear and I was

Speaker A:

like, oh, interesting.

Speaker A:

That's because my identity,

Speaker A:

I don't see myself identity wise as the version of me who can do that yet see the

Speaker A:

language yet.

Speaker A:

So I did work on me first and then I responded, that's a really key piece.

Speaker A:

Without identity work, you will self sabotage, self protect.

Speaker A:

You'll revert to old patterns.

Speaker A:

You won't see opportunities that match your

Speaker A:

self image because you don't see that as aligned.

Speaker A:

And your nervous system won't be able to hold the expansion.

Speaker A:

So your subconscious doesn't follow what you want.

Speaker A:

It actually follows what you are.

Speaker A:

It follows who you are.

Speaker A:

It is always responding to you.

Speaker A:

Always.

Speaker A:

Your subconscious mind is responding to you.

Speaker A:

If you're like immediate contraction, I can't

Speaker A:

do that.

Speaker A:

Your subconscious mind is right.

Speaker A:

Oh, you want evidence of when you can't do that.

Speaker A:

Just a second, let me get it.

Speaker A:

And that's what it does.

Speaker A:

Next piece.

Speaker A:

Your identity shapes your sensory reality.

Speaker A:

And what does this mean? Sensory?

Speaker A:

In NLP we call this vak.

Speaker A:

Okay, Visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

Speaker A:

Why does that matter?

Speaker A:

Because visual Auditory and kinesthetic make up our own internal representation,

Speaker A:

how we see the world.

Speaker A:

Okay, how we see the world.

Speaker A:

So our identity dictates what you see, what you hear and what you feel.

Speaker A:

And it's really important that we embody and work with our internal representation,

Speaker A:

because that's exactly why.

Speaker A:

Have you ever met or had two siblings or two

Speaker A:

people who grew up in the same house, two friends?

Speaker A:

You have the exact story, exact same circumstances,

Speaker A:

and they still see the world differently.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

There's an old story of the two brothers who grew up with, like,

Speaker A:

abusive, addictive parents.

Speaker A:

And when they were older, they were interviewed.

Speaker A:

One was a lawyer and one was in prison.

Speaker A:

And when they asked them, why did you do this?

Speaker A:

Like, how did you become this version of you?

Speaker A:

Both of their answers were, you saw what we grew up in.

Speaker A:

So two people can see the exact same thing and still see it differently.

Speaker A:

And this is why, bringing in your vak, your visual, auditory and kinesthetic will shape

Speaker A:

how you see the world.

Speaker A:

It'll change your internal representation,

Speaker A:

and that will help you to change your identity.

Speaker A:

Because remember, your identity is the deepest,

Speaker A:

deepest part of your system, Your whole subconscious mind, your system and how you see

Speaker A:

the world.

Speaker A:

So if your identity,

Speaker A:

for example, is that I'm not good enough,

Speaker A:

then you'll see proof of it everywhere.

Speaker A:

If your identity is like, I'm the kind of

Speaker A:

woman who follows through.

Speaker A:

I'm the kind of woman who gets **** done.

Speaker A:

I'm resourceful,

Speaker A:

you will see different opportunities.

Speaker A:

If your identity is, I trust myself, I've got myself, I feel safe within myself.

Speaker A:

You feel grounded and certain, even when there's uncertainty.

Speaker A:

If your identity is that I do feel safe,

Speaker A:

whether things are working out or not,

Speaker A:

that will show up as well.

Speaker A:

You know, one of my clients said, I feel safe

Speaker A:

when the money's coming in.

Speaker A:

I'm like, great, that's amazing.

Speaker A:

What happens when it's not.

Speaker A:

That is an identity.

Speaker A:

The identity is the filter.

Speaker A:

It's how you see the world.

Speaker A:

It's the instructions you give your nervous

Speaker A:

system.

Speaker A:

And the identity becomes the creator of what you see and what you go do.

Speaker A:

How you see yourself,

Speaker A:

how you see yourself and what you are capable of creating will change your identity, which

Speaker A:

will allow you to become in alignment with what you're creating, with what those goals

Speaker A:

are.

Speaker A:

So identity work, what does it actually look like?

Speaker A:

Well, here's an example.

Speaker A:

I Money is the easiest way to do it because

Speaker A:

people connect to it and they see it, but substitute anything into it.

Speaker A:

If you say, I want 100k business instead I am the woman who leads a hundred k business.

Speaker A:

The identity generates the behavior of what you're doing.

Speaker A:

So when we're in this space,

Speaker A:

you want to make it as like all of the sensories, the V A K as much as possible.

Speaker A:

What do you see, feel and hear? Not I want a hundred k business.

Speaker A:

Instead I am standing in my gifts, in my goals and using my voice and my message to reach

Speaker A:

more people,

Speaker A:

help more people.

Speaker A:

As a result,

Speaker A:

it will generate a hundred K or more.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

You have to change the wording a little bit.

Speaker A:

So what does she say, what does she speak, how does she show up for herself, what is she

Speaker A:

hearing, how does she lead herself?

Speaker A:

It's not act as if to fake it till you make it.

Speaker A:

It is like setting up and being clear of the identity of the person.

Speaker A:

How does she make decisions, how does she think and then work it backwards.

Speaker A:

And I thought you said think this, that you have to make this like massive scary leap and

Speaker A:

that's how you grow your business.

Speaker A:

No, it, no,

Speaker A:

because you might.

Speaker A:

But what might happen then is your nervous system isn't ready to hold what you're

Speaker A:

creating.

Speaker A:

Your internal representation, your identity of

Speaker A:

how you see yourself does not match the version of you who has this,

Speaker A:

what you desire.

Speaker A:

So instead,

Speaker A:

how can you actually anchor in on making one decision a day, leading yourself differently,

Speaker A:

changing your words, catching it on a consistent basis, interrupting an old thought

Speaker A:

pattern,

Speaker A:

choosing identity level responses,

Speaker A:

good boundaries in place, self respect, self leadership.

Speaker A:

What are the things,

Speaker A:

the micro things that look like they're no big deal to you, but they will add up 10,000 times

Speaker A:

more than the really big leap.

Speaker A:

I promise you they will.

Speaker A:

I'm so good, I'm going to tell you right now, I am so good at catching language.

Speaker A:

I can catch you in your language.

Speaker A:

I can ask you a question, we can reframe it

Speaker A:

and move on.

Speaker A:

Why can I do this?

Speaker A:

Because I've had a lot of practice.

Speaker A:

Because my language was actually absolute ****

Speaker A:

a decade ago.

Speaker A:

It was so bad that I had to rework with a ton

Speaker A:

of reps.

Speaker A:

And I can tell you honestly,

Speaker A:

all of those baby steps that felt like I was doing nothing,

Speaker A:

they transformed me language wise in ways that I know I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing

Speaker A:

today if it wasn't for that work.

Speaker A:

So those tiny baby steps, they don't look like

Speaker A:

much, but they're huge.

Speaker A:

Now,

Speaker A:

as we're building out this identity in these baby steps, what do you see?

Speaker A:

Feel in here? We're putting this together.

Speaker A:

Your identity can't hold it.

Speaker A:

If your nervous system doesn't feel safe to do

Speaker A:

it.

Speaker A:

So that's the next question.

Speaker A:

All right, amazing.

Speaker A:

You want the 100k year.

Speaker A:

You want to help 20 clients.

Speaker A:

That's amazing.

Speaker A:

That version of you.

Speaker A:

What does she see, feel, and hear? Okay, great.

Speaker A:

We're clear on that now.

Speaker A:

It happens tomorrow.

Speaker A:

How do you feel?

Speaker A:

I love asking this question.

Speaker A:

And people are like, oh, not yet, not yet.

Speaker A:

I'm like, okay, great.

Speaker A:

What's locking you?

Speaker A:

What's holding, holding you back?

Speaker A:

Probably your nervous system freaked out a little bit, it contracted.

Speaker A:

And because of that, you will block yourself from opportunities and possibilities.

Speaker A:

So instead, how can you slow your system down?

Speaker A:

How can you breathe and anchor in?

Speaker A:

How can you associate growth and expansion in your business with safety?

Speaker A:

How can you anchor that in? How can you build capacity?

Speaker A:

How can you see how you've already built capacity?

Speaker A:

And all of these things will help your nervous system to hold what you are creating?

Speaker A:

Then next,

Speaker A:

your language, the words that you're using, is everything right.

Speaker A:

I am trying.

Speaker A:

No, I'm doing right.

Speaker A:

I am becoming.

Speaker A:

I am, I am is one of the strongest things that you can take.

Speaker A:

Speak in present tense as though it's already done.

Speaker A:

Not speaking in terms of I am going to do,

Speaker A:

I will have.

Speaker A:

That's all future tense.

Speaker A:

Speak as though it's already done.

Speaker A:

The fastest tool for subconscious rewiring is your language.

Speaker A:

It is literally your language, the words that you are speaking.

Speaker A:

And do you know who can control that? That'd be you.

Speaker A:

That's you.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

You're the one that can control that.

Speaker A:

And if not, start with what is the one thing that you say that is not supporting you in the

Speaker A:

direction that you want to move in? And how can you shift that?

Speaker A:

How can you catch it? Interrupt the pattern, Ask yourself if it's

Speaker A:

true.

Speaker A:

Is it really true?

Speaker A:

Where is there evidence of the opposite? And then can you rewrite it in a new,

Speaker A:

empowering way?

Speaker A:

So the identity first version,

Speaker A:

putting identity as a top priority of visioning,

Speaker A:

Ask. Instead of saying, what do I want?

Speaker A:

How about this? Who do I choose to be this year?

Speaker A:

What am I creating this year?

Speaker A:

How am I going to lead myself this year? What does that look like?

Speaker A:

What do I see, feel, and hear?

Speaker A:

Your vision board is a mirror of your identity.

Speaker A:

That's what you want it to be.

Speaker A:

It's an activation and a mirror of your

Speaker A:

identity.

Speaker A:

It's like a bridge from where you are right

Speaker A:

now, where you're going,

Speaker A:

but there's a bridge to get there,

Speaker A:

right? There's a bridge that feels like you are on

Speaker A:

your way.

Speaker A:

If you're somebody who has not, for example,

Speaker A:

been actively health and fitness taking care of yourself, and you put on your vision board

Speaker A:

that you want to go to the CrossFit games, for example, or you want to go compete in the

Speaker A:

Olympics,

Speaker A:

your brain literally looks at it and says, you're a liar.

Speaker A:

Because that's just.

Speaker A:

There's no bridge there.

Speaker A:

Instead,

Speaker A:

how can you build the bridge that is Identity Work in process okay,

Speaker A:

if your identity is grounded and unbothered,

Speaker A:

this is really important.

Speaker A:

You will not chase shiny objects.

Speaker A:

You will not get distracted and pulled off.

Speaker A:

You will not fall into comparison.

Speaker A:

You won't panic and feel unsafe when things

Speaker A:

aren't happening in the way that you think that they're supposed to.

Speaker A:

And you won't collapse under pressure.

Speaker A:

You just won't.

Speaker A:

You know who you're becoming, and you're in that process of becoming.

Speaker A:

So this year,

Speaker A:

please, there's a lot in this episode,

Speaker A:

and I've just given you kind of the outline of what I'm gonna be teaching at the High Vibe

Speaker A:

event this year.

Speaker A:

We're not just setting goals.

Speaker A:

We're becoming the version of ourselves who can hold it, sustain them, and expand beyond

Speaker A:

them.

Speaker A:

Like, well beyond them.

Speaker A:

Right? You can quantum leap.

Speaker A:

I'm telling you, you can.

Speaker A:

If you do the identity work first,

Speaker A:

you seal up any of the cracks in the foundation of your belief in yourself.

Speaker A:

You focus on what you see, feel and hear.

Speaker A:

You embody the identity of the person who already has it.

Speaker A:

That's how you lead yourself.

Speaker A:

You can become the version of you who can hold them, sustain them, and expand beyond them.

Speaker A:

Your identity is the strategy, the blueprint, and it is honestly how you step into that

Speaker A:

future version of yourself.

Speaker A:

It is all available.

Speaker A:

All of it is available for you, I promise.

Speaker A:

I cannot wait to hear how this episode lands.

Speaker A:

And I have so much goodness coming this year.

Speaker A:
