Speaker ASo, hey, welcome to the show.
Speaker AI'm so glad that you're here joining me today.

Speaker AEverybody faces ruts and dips and lulls.
Speaker AAnd so this is week three and I'm so glad to talking with you about it.
Speaker AAnd so I'm going to jump in pretty quickly.

Speaker ASo for those of you who, who do listen to the podcast, you will know that.
Speaker AMan, he was rough.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ASo I pretty much lost my voice.
Speaker AI could not speak.
Speaker AAnd knowing that is my job, I get paid to speak and communicate.
Speaker AAnd so you know what?
Speaker ASilence is good.
Speaker ASilence is a good thing.
Speaker AA lot of people think, well, Tim just, he just wants to chat or whatever.
Speaker ANo, you'd be surprised.
Speaker AI like to be quiet to the point that there are people who go, are you okay?
Speaker ABecause when I think, when I'm quiet, they think that something is wrong.
Speaker ABecause most of the time I'm talking about something that's, that's my job.
Speaker AAgain, that's what I do.
Speaker AHowever, I try to make silence my job.
Speaker ASo anyways, if you're listening on podcast, Apple Podcasts, Spotify Podcasts, Amazon Music, Audible, Odyssey, Substack or YouTube, please subscribe to the show if you haven't done so already and also share the show, rate the show, review the show, pass the show on to other people.

Speaker ASo I Try to give you things that will add value and add good stuff to your life.
Speaker AYeah, that's it.
Speaker AAnd I don't post nonsense.
Speaker AI don't get into all the political theater and all that other good stuff.
Speaker ASo, no, I don't do that.
Speaker AI just try to add value to your life.
Speaker ASo as I'm setting up and I'm getting my notes and making sure everything's in order because I have so much I could say about this, I'm actually putting together a whole series around this that I'm going to be doing talks around and I'm excited about and because I see a lot of companies, I see individuals and companies leaders and teams get into ruts and I don't want them to in a rut.
Speaker AAnd so, and there's people that are listening.
Speaker AIt's so funny.
Speaker AI do a podcast.
Speaker AI know the people that are listening and next thing you know, they're.
Speaker AThey're creating something from it.
Speaker ASo you're welcome as I'm helping you have your next product to be able to sell.
Speaker ASo here's what I want to do.
Speaker AI'm going to talk to you about week three, don't quit, and the rut.
Speaker AWhat's worth fighting for.
Speaker ASo that's what we're going to get into.
Speaker AAnd so just so welcome back to this.
Speaker AI mean, I just want everyone to know everyone goes into ruts.
Speaker AI've coached pro athletes and I've coached top level CEOs.
Speaker AI've coached top executives that run states.
Speaker AI've coached, I mean, so many different people that do so many different jobs, so many different things.
Speaker AAnd I can just tell you this, no.
Speaker A1, there's no inoculation toward a rut.
Speaker AAnd you don't just run into a rut, you drift there.
Speaker ASo if you listen to the episodes prior to this one, you'll be able to see some of that content that I talk about, that how you get into a rut.
Speaker AAnd I talked about dips last week.
Speaker ASo let me just go ahead and start there.
Speaker ASo over the past two weeks, we've identified what ruts look like.
Speaker AI talked about five common ruts.
Speaker AWe explored the dip and the lull that was last week.
Speaker AThose frustrating in between places where it's easy to feel stuck.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker AI think we've all been there before, but today we're going to turn a big corner and we're gonna do that by asking a question.
Speaker AWhat's worth fighting for?
Speaker ARight.
Speaker ASo when you're in a rut, you need to ask yourself this really big question, what's worth fighting?
Speaker ABecause not every struggle deserves your time and your energy.
Speaker AAnd I think that's a really big thing to just say up front.
Speaker AYou know, it's kind of like I was on a coaching call earlier today with a client, and one of the things that I, I told them was when it comes to bringing in new team members and stuff like that is you've got to stop just putting warm bodies in cold places.
Speaker AYou got to just stop hiring to fill.
Speaker AYou have to start thinking, really determine what it is that you're trying to bring into your organization.
Speaker ASo I, I said, kind of use what I do.
Speaker AI want this.
Speaker AIs this the right person for what we're trying to do?
Speaker ARight?
Speaker AIs this what our team needs?
Speaker ASo those are the questions you ask.
Speaker ANot can I get them?
Speaker ACan I get that person?
Speaker ACan I get any person?
Speaker ARight?
Speaker ASo it's kind of like business.
Speaker AI try to work with the people I want to work with, not just get the business that I can get.
Speaker AAnd so I do have that opportunity and the luxury to do that.
Speaker AI get to choose who I work with, just like they get to choose if they work with me or not, but I get to pick that I'm not forced into going and running after trying to grab anything that I can get.
Speaker AAnd so I started building my business like that years back to where instead of me just trying to get the business I could get, I started saying, what kind of business do I want?
Speaker ADo I want this?
Speaker AThat's a great question.
Speaker AOh, and I forgot to mention, if you do follow me on Instagram, go to my bio, you can follow my newsletter.
Speaker AYou can get, click on, click on the link in there, in the link and you will find the newsletter and all the other ways that you can connect with me.
Speaker AAnd also, if you're looking, looking to grow in a community, I welcome you to check out the uphill community.
Speaker AAnd that's where I spend time weekly with a group of people that I'm taking through that are looking for clarity.
Speaker AThey're raising their standards and they are embracing their call to inform more.
Speaker AAnd I'm helping them with ways to do that.
Speaker AAnd as a community, we're helping one another go to the next level.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker AAnd if you want to go straight to the URL, you can do that as well.
Speaker AIt's the Uphill dot community.
Speaker AThat's it.
Speaker AT H E U P h I l l.community okay, so back to this topic about this rut and about where, where we are, what's worth fighting for because everything is not worth your time and your energy.
Speaker ABut some things, come on, they're absolutely worth you staying in the fight for, even when it's tough.
Speaker ASo that's what we're going to get into.
Speaker AAll right, so not every rut means you should quit, right?
Speaker ASome ruts mean, yeah, you need to stop this, but some, you just, you don't need to quit.
Speaker ASo here's.
Speaker AHere's what I want to do.
Speaker AI want to help you here.
Speaker AHere's something important for you to realize.
Speaker AOkay, Again.
Speaker AI'm going to say it again.
Speaker AJust because you hit a rut, okay, Remember, you don't just run into it.
Speaker AYou drift there.
Speaker AThat is not your signal.
Speaker APlease, please, please, please.
Speaker AI must emphatically implore you to not just say it's a signal to quit.
Speaker ASome ruts are just a nudge for you to move on.
Speaker AIt's a wake up.
Speaker AIt's just that warning light, check engine light, oil light, tire pressure gauge.
Speaker ABut some are actually an invitation.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker ASome ruts are.
Speaker AThey're a nudge for you to.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AYou know, to say, hey, let's look at some stuff.
Speaker AThen you've got some ruts that are just like, you know, you need to get out of this.
Speaker AYou need to just stop.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker AYou need to, like, let go, like you're done, pull the plug.
Speaker AOkay, I get it.
Speaker ABut that's what we're.
Speaker AWe're not going to talk about that today.
Speaker AWhat we're going to do is we.
Speaker AI want to talk to you about the invitation in the rut, that gentle nudge, that little light that comes on to move on, to move on, move forward with this.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker AAnd.
Speaker AAnd I don't want that to be meaning move on.
Speaker AWhen I said that earlier, I could see.
Speaker AI could see how that could be a little confusing.
Speaker AI'm not talking about quitting.
Speaker AI'm talking about just moving on.
Speaker AMove on with this a little bit.
Speaker AHere's your little cue.
Speaker AThis is your sign here.
Speaker AThis is an invitation for you to do it differently.
Speaker AIt's your invitation, like I talked about last week, to dig differently.
Speaker ATo dig just a little bit further over.
Speaker ATo not quit, but keep digging.
Speaker ANot necessarily to work harder.
Speaker AI'm not saying that as well, but maybe you're going to work a little smarter.
Speaker AYou're going to take more evidence.
Speaker ANot just compelling evidence, but conclusive evidence.
Speaker AAnd then you're going to learn to go deeper with it.
Speaker AAll right?
Speaker AThat's what we're going to do.
Speaker ASometimes we're not stuck because we're doing the wrong thing.
Speaker AThat's an important thing for us to always remember.
Speaker AWe're stuck because we've been maybe doing the right thing, but we've been doing it the same way for too long.
Speaker ASo it's like an exercise.
Speaker AYou've been doing the same exercise.
Speaker AIt's right.
Speaker AYou're maintaining.
Speaker AIt's great.
Speaker ABut maybe your goals have.
Speaker AHave.
Speaker AYour goals can't be realized to the next level because you haven't changed the thing that you're doing.
Speaker ASo you're able to maintain something, but you're not seeing that bump.
Speaker AYou're not going.
Speaker ASo you begin to think that what my exercise routine is, I just need to quit altogether because this is not working.
Speaker AIt's plateaued.
Speaker AWell, it's not that you just.
Speaker AMaybe you're doing the right thing, but you're doing it the same way for too long.
Speaker AAnd that's where the truth is going to hit us.
Speaker AThat's where the truth actually lands.
Speaker AAll right, and so what do I mean by that?
Speaker AIt's, it's.
Speaker AIt's more of if you can change.
Speaker AAnd here's a quote.
Speaker AIf you can't change your path, you can change your posture.
Speaker AAll right, so that's kind of big.
Speaker AIt's a.
Speaker AIt's a big statement.
Speaker AAnd what I want to do is I'm going to dig into this a little bit.
Speaker AI'm going to give you an explanation.
Speaker AHow about that?
Speaker AOf a.
Speaker AOf just a simple breakdown.
Speaker ASo if this was like an.
Speaker ALike what it equals.
Speaker ASo we'll talk about if you can't change the path, you could change your posture.
Speaker ASo let's say path.
Speaker APath equals are you ready?
Speaker AYour situation or your circumstances.
Speaker AThat's what path is.
Speaker ASo some things in life we can't change immediately.
Speaker AIt could be a tough job, it could be a hard season, it could even be ready, a slow process.
Speaker ABut the posture, the posture, though, in this change your posture is you could change your attitude, you could change your response, you could change your mindset.
Speaker ASo let's say it this way.
Speaker AIf you can't change the situation or the circumstances, change your attitude response or your mindset, because even when you can't change the situation, you can change how you carry yourself through it.
Speaker ASo again, this quote.
Speaker AIf you can't change the path, change your posture.
Speaker AThis is an invitation.
Speaker AIt invites you to take your power back.
Speaker AAnd you may not have control of the path, but you completely have control over your own posture.
Speaker AYou may not be able to Instantly change the situation in your job.
Speaker AYou know, the hard job or the waiting season or the tough relationship, but you can absolutely change how you are going to actually walk through it.
Speaker AAnd why.
Speaker AWhy is this so important?
Speaker ABecause to me, it's not the path so much.
Speaker AIt's the posture.
Speaker ATo me, posture is everything, because I can't always control a path, but I can do my posture.
Speaker ASo posture, it's how I carry myself.
Speaker APosture, it's how I choose to show up even when things are not perfect.
Speaker AAnd here's the thing.
Speaker AWhen your posture is not right, you can slump down in defeat, or you can lift up your head, you can steady your heart.
Speaker AYou can keep moving forward with purpose.
Speaker ASo posture can turn the rut that you're in into the Runway that you need to go to that next level.
Speaker ABut one of the things that I want to do is I want to get you to.
Speaker AI want to kind of give you some reflective thinking and kind of inspire you a little bit here about when you're in.
Speaker AWhen you're in a rut and things are cloudy, right, it just seems doom and gloom, maybe overcast.
Speaker AIt just doesn't feel right.
Speaker AEven a sunny day feels just cloudy and uninspiring, and you can't see the finish line, the thing that you're trying to do, and you lose sight because of that, of why you actually started.
Speaker ASo let's slow down for a second, and let's go back to the beginning.
Speaker AAnd that's what I tend to do when I'm in the rut.
Speaker AI say, let's slow down.
Speaker ALet's go back to the beginning.
Speaker AI changed my posture.
Speaker AI want to go back to the beginning, but I don't want to just change my posture.
Speaker AI'm going to need some fuel.
Speaker AI'm going to need to get myself moving again.
Speaker ASo what I do is I go back and I remind myself of a couple of things.
Speaker ASeveral things here.
Speaker AWhy did I start this journey?
Speaker AThat's a question I ask.
Speaker AThen another question or a couple here.
Speaker AWhat was the spark, the passion, the fire, the burden?
Speaker AWhat did I begin it for?
Speaker AAnd then what made this worth fighting for?
Speaker AThat's like a big thing, because sometimes you don't need to change your mission.
Speaker AInstead, what you need to do is remember your motivation.
Speaker ASo I'm trying to get you, just like I have to do for myself, is I want you to go back and say, stop messing with the mission.
Speaker AYou know, maybe what's going on, I'm in a rut.
Speaker AI'm not off Course, I'm just in a rut, right?
Speaker AI'm in a dip.
Speaker AI'm in a lull.
Speaker AWhat does this mean?
Speaker AThere's my light going off.
Speaker AIt doesn't mean I need to quit.
Speaker AIt means I need to maybe.
Speaker ALook, I can't change the path, the circumstance or the situation.
Speaker ABut what I can do is change.
Speaker AChange my posture, my attitude, my mindset.
Speaker AI don't have to change my mission, but I need to remember my motivation.
Speaker ASo when you forget your why, what's going to end up happening is you're going to lose your way.
Speaker AThat's when you're going to feel that rut really become overwhelming.
Speaker ABecause not only do you feel like you're in a rut, but then you're going to truly get lost and be in a rut.
Speaker ADon't want to do that.
Speaker ASo when you rediscover your why and you do that, you reflect on those questions, you know that.
Speaker AThat I laid out there for you.
Speaker AYou know?
Speaker AYou know what?
Speaker AWhat?
Speaker AYou know what?
Speaker AWhy did I start my journey?
Speaker AAnd what was the spark or the fire or the passion and the burning that I had?
Speaker AOr the burden.
Speaker AThe burden with it and then.
Speaker AAnd what was worth fighting for?
Speaker ASo when I do that and rediscover my why, that actually lifts my posture.
Speaker ASo in the community that I'm in, I created this whole entire framework of how to create lift for your life.
Speaker AAnd so I'm always saying to people, how are you looking for ways to lift your life?
Speaker AHow are you getting elevation?
Speaker AHow are you elevating up and above?
Speaker AAnd what are the things that you need in order to do that?
Speaker AAnd I'm not going to give you all that here, right?
Speaker AYou want to know more about that?
Speaker AGo look at the community, theuphill community.
Speaker ABut what I do is I try to help people with that.
Speaker ASo here's a way that this is one of the things I'm giving.
Speaker AOne of the ways that you can lift your posture, lift your life, is by remembering your why.
Speaker AIt's like oxygen, right?
Speaker AWhen you have tired lungs, it reminds you that this matters.
Speaker AAnd I'm not done.
Speaker AThat's what you want to do, is this matters.
Speaker AI'm not done.
Speaker AGet yourself back there.
Speaker ASo today, don't just look at how hard it feels.
Speaker AI want you to look at how important it actually is, the thing that you're doing, not how hard it is and how hard it feels.
Speaker ARemember, because we want to do hard best, and we choose hard best over easy.
Speaker AGood.
Speaker AWe choose the uphill Way over all other ways.
Speaker AIf it's worth having, it's uphill.
Speaker AYou can't go uphill with downhill habits.
Speaker ASo what I want to do is when I.
Speaker AIt's not about how hard it feels, but it's how important it is.
Speaker ASo when it's hard, I want you to keep moving.
Speaker AI want to be real with you.
Speaker ABreakthroughs.
Speaker AAre you ready?
Speaker AYour breakthrough, my breakthrough.
Speaker AAll breakthroughs are born in boring places.
Speaker ABecause think about it.
Speaker ANobody celebrates the 1000th rep.
Speaker ANo one celebrates that.
Speaker ANobody writes songs about showing up when nobody notices.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker ANobody writes songs about that.
Speaker ANobody writes about all the things you know about, the things that nobody ever sees.
Speaker ANobody ever knows, nobody ever recognizes.
Speaker APeople don't do that unless it's just you're writing a sad song about disappointing life.
Speaker ABut that's just not the thing that people do.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker ABut that's where resilience is built.
Speaker AResilience is built in the 1000th rep.
Speaker AResilience is built when nobody notices.
Speaker AResilience is built when nobody saw it.
Speaker AThat's where you're building things when you're.
Speaker AIf you were a boxer, heavyweight fighters would talk about that.
Speaker APeople, all your training, everything shows up under the lights in Madison Square Garden.
Speaker AWhen you're in the ring with another contender and you are boxing and you have 12 rounds or 15 rounds back in the day, but 12 rounds and you're out there.
Speaker AAll your training, everything you've worked on, everything you've been doing, your diet, your reps, everything shows up there.
Speaker ANo one noticed it while you were doing it.
Speaker ABut everybody's going to see it when you're out there.
Speaker ABut the resilience you need to get in the ring is going to be built through all those repet repetitions that nobody is seeing.
Speaker ANobody is seeing you run the race and do the road work.
Speaker AZero people.
Speaker ABut you know, this is where resilience is built.
Speaker AThis is where we go deep.
Speaker AThis is where we go deep so we can plant the seeds deep.
Speaker AWe go deep, plant seeds deep so we can get deep roots.
Speaker AThat's the point.
Speaker ASo if you're tired today, that doesn't mean you're weak.
Speaker AIt doesn't mean that you're failing.
Speaker AIf you're tired today, it means you're human.
Speaker ASo the question is not, am I tired?
Speaker AThe real question I want to put out there for you is, is this still worth it?
Speaker AAnd if the answer, even a tiny whisper of it, a sliver, is yes, then it's time to shift your posture.
Speaker AIf you have shoes on, you tighten up your laces and you keep walking.
Speaker AIf it's a bike, you keep pedaling.
Speaker AWhatever it is, you keep going.
Speaker AIf you're a writer, you keep riding.
Speaker AIf you're.
Speaker AIf you're in chemistry and you're a scientist, keep doing your science.
Speaker AIf you are coding person, keep coding.
Speaker AIf you're trying to make fragrances, keep mixing your fragrances.
Speaker AIf you're trying to find the perfect coffee bean, keep doing the planting.
Speaker AThis is what it's all about.
Speaker AYou keep going.
Speaker AIf you're J.K.
Speaker Arowling, you keep writing.
Speaker AThis is what it is.
Speaker AThat's how she ended up where she is.
Speaker AAnd no, you may not have a book that's going to be world renowned, but there is something that you're going to do that's world renowned to you.
Speaker AJust you accomplishing it can make all the difference.
Speaker AAnd you never know who you're impacting with.
Speaker AThe one thing that you do that you think is insignificant.
Speaker AThat's why it's very important for you to realize you can't change the path, but you can change your posture.
Speaker AAnd you don't have to sprint.
Speaker AYou just have to keep moving.
Speaker ASo here's one of the best ways you can change your posture when you're stuck.
Speaker AI want you to start stacking little victories.
Speaker AProgress doesn't always mean it's loud, it's boisterous, and there's a big roar with it.
Speaker ASometimes.
Speaker AMost progress that happens in life, 1% incremental change, it comes through a whisper.
Speaker AIt's through little things.
Speaker AYou don't need a massive breakthrough tomorrow.
Speaker AWhat you need is one small victory today.
Speaker AOne small victory.
Speaker ASo what does that mean?
Speaker AHere's what I want you to do.
Speaker AI want you to finish your workout.
Speaker AYou know what that means?
Speaker AI want you to send that very difficult email you've been needing to send.
Speaker AYou know what I want you to do?
Speaker AI want you to make that very hard phone call that you know you need to do.
Speaker AYou know what I want you to do?
Speaker AI want you to pray.
Speaker AI want you to reflect.
Speaker AI want you to rest.
Speaker ABut you know what else I want you to do?
Speaker AI want you to show up.
Speaker AEven if it's messy.
Speaker ASmall.
Speaker AListen, even when even small wins, right?
Speaker AEven a small win that you stack up is going to build the road out of your rut.
Speaker AThink about that.
Speaker AStacking small wins gets you out of a rut.
Speaker ASmall wins make a rut into your future road.
Speaker ABecause they stack up, they're stackable.
Speaker AAnd that road, it leads you forward, one faithful step at a time.
Speaker ASo this week, I want you to think about a few things.
Speaker AI want you to reflect on these questions.
Speaker AFirst one is what are.
Speaker AWhat is something you're still passionate about even if it's hard right now?
Speaker AWhat is it?
Speaker ASecond question is, what's one small thing you can do this week to move forward?
Speaker AAnd then the third is, who could you ask for help, feedback or an encouragement?
Speaker AThat's it.
Speaker AWhat's something you're still passionate about even if it's hard right now?
Speaker AWhat's one small thing you can do this week to move forward and who could you ask for help or feedback or encouragement from?
Speaker AWrite them down.
Speaker ATalk about them with someone you trust, or just sit down with them quietly today and reflect on them.
Speaker ASo when you've done that, it's going to help you to write your why down.
Speaker AMake it small, Put it on a piece of paper, put it on your mirror, write it on your desk, put it on your lock screen, on your phone.
Speaker ALet it speak to you.
Speaker AIn days when you feel heavy and your posture needs to be lifted up, put your why down.
Speaker AAnswer those questions.
Speaker AI want you to be focused for your next step.
Speaker AAll right, so next week we're going to be wrapping up this series with something practical and powerful.
Speaker AAnd that's basically we're going to talk about walking out of the rut.
Speaker AWe're going to talk about how to build real, lasting momentum and how to stay out of the places that you've been stuck in before and not to go back to them because you're not going to want to miss out.
Speaker ASo what I want you to do is I want you to keep walking tall.
Speaker AI want you to lean in.
Speaker AI want you to remember that if you can't change the path, the circumstance or the situation, you can change your attitude, your mindset, your posture.
Speaker ASo until next time.
Speaker ATime, we'll talk soon.
