Foreign.
Speaker AAnd welcome to the Pat Accounting Podcast with me, your host, Vicky Clark.
Speaker AI'm going to help you get to grips with your finances, save you lots of money and take the stress out of doing your tax return.
Speaker ASo let's get going.
Speaker AWelcome everybody.
Speaker AWe are here with the lovely Charlotte Parrot from K9 Marketing Support.
Speaker AIf you live under a rock and don't know who she is, and we're gonna just have a little general catch up I think today see what Charlotte's been up to and what she's got coming up in 2026 for you guys.
Speaker AAnd also just a bit of a see how she thought the Expo was and what she's doing at next year's Expo.
Speaker ASo welcome, my lovely.
Speaker AHi, how are you?
Speaker BI'm all good.
Speaker BI'm, I'm really jealous of you breaking up on Friday.
Speaker BI, I didn't really, I put next week in as a little bit of a do not disturb, but I still have so to do that.
Speaker BI'm like, I'm not going to be front facing, but I will be able behind the scenes.
Speaker ADo you know what we do every year?
Speaker AWe always shut early on the 19th or however it lands and then we don't come back until the 5th of January.
Speaker ASo we always have the two week period off, which is bizarre because it's like one of the busiest times of the tax calendar and we decide to take two weeks off, but I think by this point we're all just knackered and we, you know, have two weeks off, refreshed, come back in January and I think we still got roughly about 140 clients that still haven't sent us their records, which, you know, doesn't sound a lot, but like I said on the last podcast, contrary to popular belief, tax returns do take a long time.
Speaker ASo when you've got 140 of them to do in January, but we need the team to be refreshed, like raring to go on the 5th of July.
Speaker BIf you're listening to this live, get.
Speaker AYour bloody records then.
Speaker AOtherwise we're on holiday on Friday and we'll not get them again.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker AYes.
Speaker AHave you done yours?
Speaker BYes, I've done mine.
Speaker BI've.
Speaker BI'm somebody who has to get it done like the minute you can because otherwise I spend the entire year stressing.
Speaker BSo I'm not a last minute person when it comes to things like this.
Speaker AI literally do mine on the 6th of January.
Speaker A6th of April.
Speaker A6th of January, 6th of April.
Speaker AI know that's late 6th of April.
Speaker ALiterally as soon as my eyes open on the day that I can do it, I sit down, I get it done and it's.
Speaker AAnd then it's out of the way.
Speaker AThen I know how much I've got to say by January, so I don't have to stress about it.
Speaker BExactly.
Speaker ABut so, yes, get it done.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker ASo you were one of our lovely speakers.
Speaker AIf you're wondering what I'm doing, I'm just.
Speaker AI know when you tap these things on here, it the pushes it out on people's news feeds, apparently, and it does work.
Speaker ASo if you see me doing this, it's because I'm just tapping away.
Speaker BTo be honest, I think.
Speaker ANo, no, it doesn't, it doesn't.
Speaker AHonestly, if you do this on your lives, if you press these, it pushes the algorithms to people in your feed.
Speaker BThe hand eye coordination to sit on my phone and tap the screen and.
Speaker AWell, I just find out where it roughly is in the area and just tap my hand whilst I'm talking.
Speaker BA block, user block.
Speaker ABut yes, you were one of our lovely speakers at this year's expo.
Speaker AHow did you find it?
Speaker AAnd be brutally honest.
Speaker ALike, we want honest feedback for these guys.
Speaker BHonestly, honestly, brutally honest.
Speaker BAnd I'm very Gordon Ramsay about things at times.
Speaker BI absolutely loved it.
Speaker BLike, absolutely loved it.
Speaker BThe whole day.
Speaker BThe community feel a bit, you know.
Speaker BYes, okay, I understand there was a lot of people and there was a lot of like, like, you know, speakers and things, but generally speaking, it was an absolutely brilliant day.
Speaker BSo, yeah, my honest feedback was.
Speaker BIt was just nice to have something in the industry for everybody to come to and turn up and learn.
Speaker BDoesn't matter.
Speaker BYou know, you had, you had walkers talking to groomers, groomers talking to trainers.
Speaker BIt was just lovely.
Speaker BAnd it had the whole, I think the community you fostered online, it was like a, an in person version of that.
Speaker BAnd I love that.
Speaker AYeah, yeah, I was, I'm not gonna lie, I myself thinking this could, this is, could go one of two ways.
Speaker AIt's either gonna go really well or it's gonna fall flat in the sauce and everyone's gonna hate me and be like, vicky, that was shit.
Speaker AAnd I could have just hidden under a rock for the next six months and not read my head.
Speaker ABut actually, like you said, the general atmosphere with everyone, then obviously there's a lot of people coming on their own and we had the WhatsApp group, which is still going strong, and that was only meant to be sort of a, you know, if you're coming on your own, pop it in the group and someone will come and get you so that you're not stood on your own.
Speaker ABecause there's always that daunting fear when you go to events that you're just going to be sat there in the corner of the room on your own, thinking, oh, my God, what the hell?
Speaker ABut there was none of that.
Speaker AAnd actually the WhatsApp group was turned into like a.
Speaker AA little community of people of what they've done well and getting advice from each other.
Speaker AAnd like I said, it's a mixture.
Speaker AThere's groomers on there, there's trainers on there, there's walkers on there, and they're all just chatting, sharing.
Speaker AYeah, just chatting and sharing stuff.
Speaker AAnd now, like, I can't get rid of the WhatsApp group, which was meant to be just a. Yeah, an Expo Day WhatsApp group, but now I don't get rid of it because everyone's chatting away on there and it's just been lovely.
Speaker ASo for me, I mean, I did cram a lot of speakers in.
Speaker AThat was probably my only downfall is I just thought, why not?
Speaker ALet's just have everybody and put no breaks in whatsoever.
Speaker AAnd everyone was like, overload.
Speaker ASo we have rectified that.
Speaker ABut, you know, for me, it was the, like you said, the community spirit of everyone just.
Speaker AIt was just lovely.
Speaker AJust had a nice feel to it and everyone was there for the same reason.
Speaker AHow did you.
Speaker AHow did you feel doing your talk?
Speaker AWere you nervous?
Speaker BI was all right, to be fair.
Speaker BLike, I.
Speaker BLike I said at the Expo because Bill went first and talked a lot about, like, mindset.
Speaker BI was like, in a Zen place.
Speaker BI was like, ready to go.
Speaker BAnd to be fair, the entire room was so welcoming.
Speaker BSometimes you stand on these stages and everybody's like.
Speaker AAnd I'm like, deadpan face.
Speaker AYou're like, oh, no.
Speaker AKind of make them laugh.
Speaker BStarting there with my little vibration comment really helped me, you know, with settling in the news, making everybody laugh.
Speaker BBut, yeah, no, I loved it.
Speaker BAnd I'm a big.
Speaker BI said this at the Expo because I do a lot on Zoom.
Speaker BYou know, I. I see people chatting away.
Speaker BI can see a little bit more.
Speaker BWhereas when you speak in person, it's always that daunting thing where people are writing notes.
Speaker BBut even when I'm asking a question, people were getting involved.
Speaker BIt wasn't just like cricket.
Speaker BSo, no, I absolutely loved it.
Speaker BI didn't realize that I near enough gone over time and I had so many.
Speaker AYes, because you were like, oh, I don't know if I can fill 45 minutes.
Speaker AAnd I was like, all right, okay.
Speaker AI said, don't worry, we'll do a question answer.
Speaker AAnd it got to like 50 minutes.
Speaker AAnd I'm going, Charlotte, yeah.
Speaker ALike, you, you need to stop.
Speaker BThat's the thing, you know, I think it was just a lovely, like I said, welcoming atmosphere for everybody.
Speaker BDidn't manage.
Speaker BIf you're a speaker or, you know, an attendee, it has just.
Speaker BJust a nice feel.
Speaker BSo, yeah, I absolutely loved it.
Speaker AAnd you're coming back next year by popular demand.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker APeople loved the social media side and I think it.
Speaker ADo you know what?
Speaker AIt's one of those topics so that people do struggle with.
Speaker ALike, you know, when you first met me, like four years ago, I was shit.
Speaker AI just had literally zero clue, like, how, like, how to do any of it.
Speaker ALike, I, I even now like, Tegan does it and she's on Instagram and she's like, oh, no, you need this, like, trend in audio and you need to do this.
Speaker AAnd I'm like, I don't even know what that means.
Speaker ALike I said, cannot just post it.
Speaker AAnd she's like, no, there's, like, there's.
Speaker AThere's a theory behind it.
Speaker BYeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker ALike, if I go on and post something randomly, I get told off.
Speaker BI bet.
Speaker BI bet you do.
Speaker BI think it's one of those things.
Speaker BYou are right.
Speaker BLike, absolutely.
Speaker BAnd I think one of the things for a lot of business owners to wrap their heads around is this with you for the long game.
Speaker BLike, you can meet it with this resistance and this hate.
Speaker BIt's not going anywhere.
Speaker BIt's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Speaker BSo the more you can sort of get to grips with it and learn the things, it's like anything.
Speaker BLike, let's be honest, when you started your business, you didn't know everything there was about business.
Speaker BYou've learned along the way.
Speaker BBut, yeah, my biggest, like, resistance thing that I get met with is I hate social media.
Speaker BAnd I think the minute you say that to yourself, it's like, well, that's.
Speaker BThat's how you've set yourself up to continue with this.
Speaker BNot.
Speaker BI'm open to learning about socials saying that, you know, when I'd spoken to people after my.
Speaker BMy talk, the amount of people who were like, thank you, like, you've just simplified it that little bit more.
Speaker BI think the problem with social media in general for marketing is it's.
Speaker BThere's so many opinions on things rather than value.
Speaker BSo it's like, oh, ads don't work.
Speaker BYeah, they do ads work?
Speaker BLike, it's just because you boosted a post and chucked a tenor behind it, like supposed to do.
Speaker ADamn it.
Speaker AThat's.
Speaker AThat's why it didn't work.
Speaker AI'm gonna ask you a question on that, though, after you finish, because I'll pick your brain on that.
Speaker BWell, yeah, ads are not my absolute full day, so I've got all my hands up.
Speaker BBut yeah, I think, I think that's part of the problem.
Speaker BLike there are changes, don't get me wrong, stuff that I said to you four years ago we should be doing when I was helping you are definitely not things I'd be rest you do now.
Speaker BBut that's because times change and things change and like anything, you evolve and you, you've got to keep up, up.
Speaker AAnd what did I say to you four years ago when we were chatting that you should do.
Speaker AWhat did you.
Speaker AThat you've done?
Speaker AThat you've done.
Speaker AAnd it's going really well.
Speaker AYour membership.
Speaker BOh, the membership.
Speaker AI've been saying that to you for years, Charlotte, you need to do a membership, Charlotte, you need to do a membership and then you've done it and it's working really well.
Speaker BYeah, we've got 220 members all across the world.
Speaker BLike it's, it's a, it's a brilliant membership.
Speaker BSo two years old now, do you know, even thinking about like four years ago, working with yours feels like a lifetime ago, like time ago.
Speaker BBut yeah, two years of that membership and it is.
Speaker BYeah, well, there's still so many people who need it, but I'm trying to get there, I'm trying to reach them.
Speaker BIt just obviously takes time.
Speaker AThe thing is, with social media, it's the same as finance.
Speaker AIt's.
Speaker AIt's so crucial to your business and it ain't going anywhere.
Speaker AYou can't have a business without looking after your finances and you can't have a business without doing marketing, social media.
Speaker AYou just can't.
Speaker AAnd like, you know, I say to clients like you, you need to.
Speaker AI know you hate doing it and I know you hate and.
Speaker AOr don't understand it, like technophobes like me, but that's why you go on these memberships and you get help.
Speaker ABecause the marketing is what's going to bring your clients in.
Speaker AThe marketing is what's going to sell you as a dog groomer or a dog walker or a dog border.
Speaker AYou can't not have it, otherwise you're just going to fall behind.
Speaker AThe same as AI.
Speaker ALike AI in two years, time is going to be the thing that people are going to start using like Google, you know, and if you fall behind with that, you're not going to keep up and everyone's just going to go above you.
Speaker BI've had this conversation with my members, I did a masterclass with them in November about how to stand out in 2026 and even though, you know, two years time, people are still searching now I've had recommendations, people have found me through chat and I know other people in my membership who have been found through like ChatGPT and Things.
Speaker BSo AI optimization is a huge part of it and that falls into marketing.
Speaker BBut I know there will be people listening and watching this and they'll go, oh, but I get all my clients from word of mouth, do I get all my clients from this?
Speaker BAnd that's absolutely fine.
Speaker BWhilst it goes well for you, it's that the minute that drops off and the minute you got have a fully booked diary because it does have this seasons in business, isn't there some sometimes everything's brilliant and then other times it's a little bit quieter and a little bit slower and you start to panic.
Speaker BYou need that just consistency.
Speaker BAnd I think now more than ever, social media is yes a place to market your business and promote it.
Speaker BBut people like people and they like seeing what you know, what you're up to.
Speaker BLike I love, you know the little videos where I see the dogs running across the beach on your page.
Speaker BYou tell me you're all in one sole trader package but I'm like, oh, look at them.
Speaker BSo yeah, it's just.
Speaker BYeah, I think absolutely, you're 100 right.
Speaker BYou know, AI is something that's, that's on the horizon.
Speaker BWell, it's here, it's.
Speaker BAnd people aren't on the horizon anymore, it's here.
Speaker BBut it's just having the tools to know how to use things like this.
Speaker AI mean Tegan uses copilot a lot.
Speaker ALike she's become a little bit of a whiz.
Speaker AI go on chat GPT every now and again I just ask it stuff like I don't really understand how to use it but I watched a seminar yesterday of Daniel Priestley, another guy.
Speaker AYeah that did key person of influence and all of those books and he's talked about AI and he was like times have shifted where before having like a business brand is what got your clients but now it's a personal brand and it's all about you as the person and because of AI coming in and in two years time he's like everything's going to be taken over by AI, Those people with a personal brand.
Speaker AAI will help, help you take off even more.
Speaker ABut those who only have a business brand, it's not going to work and you're going to be here and everyone else who's using AI and has a personal brand is going to be here.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd that's what you said in your.
Speaker AOn your chat at the Expo about getting you out there rather than hiding behind pictures of the dogs.
Speaker BI built my entire business and brand.
Speaker BWell, my, my business name now is Charlotte Faith Socials.
Speaker BLike, I changed it on purpose so it was a personal brand.
Speaker BSo I know it shows that person, pet business, sport.
Speaker BBut if you look at Charlotte Faith Socials, yeah, I did that on purpose because my entire business is based around me.
Speaker BI'm selling me my energy, my, my, my knowledge, my things.
Speaker BYou can go to loads of people about marketing, but people come to me because it's me, you know, it's.
Speaker AThey like you, it's got, you know, yes, you're good at it, but they're buying from you personally.
Speaker AThe same.
Speaker ASame with the pet account.
Speaker AThey don't necessarily come to us because we're good accountants, which, no, we are, but they, they come to us because they know our face.
Speaker AThey, they see my face everywhere.
Speaker APeople always get on the phone or they see us at cross and go, I see your face everywhere.
Speaker ALike, it's ridiculous.
Speaker ALike, you're everywhere.
Speaker AAnd I'm like, yeah, I know, on purpose.
Speaker ABut it's not the pet accountant that's everywhere, it's this.
Speaker AThat's everywhere.
Speaker AAnd, you know, we laugh because every time we get, like, a good review, like, and Lee, I know Lee's watching.
Speaker AHe won't know this yet because I haven't told him.
Speaker ABut every time we get a review, even if, like, Lee's done the tax return, I always get thanked for it every time.
Speaker AWe had a chuckle this morning because we have a Tuesday meeting every morning and every Tuesday.
Speaker AAnd Abby was like, oh, we've got another, another good review in.
Speaker AOh, and it's mentioned Vicky again.
Speaker AVicky, did you do attacked return?
Speaker AI was like, no, but it just.
Speaker AI'll take the go.
Speaker AAnd it happens to every time.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker AWhich has just become a bit of a.
Speaker ABit of an inside joke now that it's always me that gets thanked, but that's because people associate the pet accountant with my face and, and because it's a personal brand and, you know, it does help.
Speaker AAnd that's why I know you said, like, You've got to get yourself out there.
Speaker AYou know, the people who were looking for a dog walker when I was looking.
Speaker AWhen I moved back to the Northeast and I was looking for a dog walker.
Speaker AThe reason we went for Alicia, who's now one of our closest friends and who's with the maid of honor at our wedding next year, is.
Speaker AIs because she came across more personable and her.
Speaker ARather than just a website with I walk dogs, here's my prices.
Speaker AShe got on the phone, she chatted.
Speaker AShe was just naturally herself.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd she didn't sell.
Speaker AShe was just herself on the phone.
Speaker AAnd then came and, like, had the meeting treat or whatever she called it.
Speaker AAnd she was so good with the dogs and she was just so lovely that the reason we picked her was because of her, not because she, you know, had insurance or new first aid, all of that sort of stuff.
Speaker AIt.
Speaker AIt was because of her.
Speaker AWe don't go anywhere else now.
Speaker ANo.
Speaker BAnd I know how much you love your dogs.
Speaker BLike, they are your babies, aren't they?
Speaker BPieces.
Speaker BAnd I always think when I'm helping pet pros with their socials, like, my dogs are my world.
Speaker BLike, they are my world.
Speaker BHow am I supposed to trust you if I cannot just see, like, a photo of you?
Speaker BI can't speak to you.
Speaker AIt's.
Speaker BIt's just bonkers.
Speaker BHow people to leave is arguably the most important thing in their lives.
Speaker BAnd I'm.
Speaker BYou've got just a logo that I'm looking at and some pictures of dogs.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd like I said, dogs are your children.
Speaker ALike Frank, Mabel, Fifi, like that, our children.
Speaker AAnd especially Frank, obviously, because he was mine.
Speaker AFrom a puppy.
Speaker ALike, he's my absolute prince.
Speaker AAnd I'm not going to let just anyone.
Speaker AI don't care whether you've got insurance or certificate.
Speaker AObviously, that's important stuff.
Speaker AAnd I will ask, but I'm more concerned about you as a person.
Speaker AAnd can I trust you to take my dogs away, out of my control, to somewhere where I don't know where you are and know that they're going to be safe.
Speaker AAnd the only way I can understand that is by you showing up and showing me you.
Speaker AYeah, same with you.
Speaker AYou know, when I got you four years ago, it was because of you, not because you were good at your job.
Speaker AIt's because we got on and I thought, oh, you know, we're going to get on and I need it and she's good and let's do it.
Speaker APeople buy from people and I think we just need to.
Speaker AAnd it's awful.
Speaker AI hate, I hate, like, doing the Expo.
Speaker AI was absolutely crapping my pants and everyone was like, oh, no, but you do all the podcasts and stuff.
Speaker AYeah, but I don't see anyone.
Speaker ACould you imagine everyone?
Speaker AAnd I stood there at the front and I just had like 180 eyes just staring at me.
Speaker AAnd we had this whole, like, thing planned.
Speaker AI had my cue cards, Tegan was.
Speaker AHad hers, and we'd planned who was going to go.
Speaker AWhen Tegan dropped.
Speaker ATegan dropped hers on the floor all mixed up.
Speaker AI didn't bring my glasses, so I couldn't read what I'd written.
Speaker ASo I was just like, in the end, we didn't know it.
Speaker ALike, you know, it is what it is.
Speaker AHi, everyone.
Speaker AWelcome to the export.
Speaker AIn this way a bit.
Speaker AI honestly was cracking my pants.
Speaker ASo I know how hard it is for some people to see that face.
Speaker BBut when they first started working with you and I remember just asking you photos of yourself and it was like pulling teeth, like, literally to send me just a singular selfie or just do a little video was nigh on impossible.
Speaker BSo I was so glad when Tegan was like, well, I can just film you straight in your face because I'm with you all the time.
Speaker BBecause honestly, it was so tricky at.
Speaker AThe beginning, but isn't it and that.
Speaker BNow look at you, you know, all right, yes.
Speaker BFlourishing butterfly, of course, things at you.
Speaker BLike, before I go and do a live on Instagram, before doing this, I'm always a bit like, we're gonna, we're gonna do this now.
Speaker BBut the same respect, you know, I know how important it is that people go, oh, you know, Charles talked amazing on Vicky's podcast and, and listen to them both speak to each other and oh, I'd love a relationship with somebody like that.
Speaker BOr whatever the situation is.
Speaker BThat always translates, I think, through seeing people rather than just relying on a few words.
Speaker AYeah, no, 100%.
Speaker ASo if you do struggle with your social media, please go on Charlotte's membership and she can put a little tag on here once we're done.
Speaker AGet yourself on there and get it done.
Speaker AGet your face out there more.
Speaker AEveryone wants to see lovely face.
Speaker ANo one wants us to see a logo.
Speaker AWe need to see your face.
Speaker AYeah, so do that.
Speaker ASo what are you going to chat about?
Speaker AVery briefly, because we're going to give too much away.
Speaker AWhat are we chatting about in next year's Expo?
Speaker ABecause you are having back, everyone has demanded that you come back.
Speaker AAnd like I said, social media is such a Wide topic that there's no way we could cover it in one hour session.
Speaker BSo no, no good.
Speaker BMy goodness.
Speaker BI could probably, we could probably do a spin off expo if you wanted to in the future.
Speaker BWe just did social media.
Speaker BSocial media but didn't cover half of it.
Speaker BYou know, it's one of those things.
Speaker BSo I, I've obviously spoke to Vicky and we, I've understood what the feedback was from what I spoke about and this was very much about like strategy this time or why it's important.
Speaker BNow next year I'm going to be telling you how we get those results, how we do it.
Speaker BSo like, like we just said there an hour slot, I could get you through the basics of it.
Speaker BNow we're going to take it up a notch and we're going to do how to put together a good post and how do we know what post is and things like that.
Speaker BSo yeah, I'm not going to give too much away because obviously it's well worth attending for all the speakers.
Speaker BBut if you want to know how to do a good social media post, it is way more than just the post.
Speaker BI'll say that.
Speaker BWe'll give that away.
Speaker BIt's way more than just the post.
Speaker AYeah and I know that from experience, like I, you know, I don't get any of it.
Speaker AThis is why I have Tegan to do it because it just boggles my brains of the stuff she does on co pilot and like how she does all the posts and the algorithms and the all OS and how things are positioned and you know, all of that stuff.
Speaker AAnd it does make a difference.
Speaker AIt does make a massive difference.
Speaker ASo yes, we have Charlotte back 3rd October next year for the Expo.
Speaker AWe've got a very eclectic mix of speakers that cover a very ranging.
Speaker BMarket.
Speaker AIn the pet industry.
Speaker ASo obviously Bill Zen, I know he's more grooming related but again the topics are generic people, so it's for everybody.
Speaker ABut we, I always try and get speakers that cover the sector as a whole.
Speaker ASo Dom obviously is more sort of daycare boarding sort of related.
Speaker ASo he's got that area covered and then we've got a couple of tricks up our sleeve for a few other speakers.
Speaker ASo it is for everyone and I can't stress that enough, it's not just for one sector, we've got everyone covered and like I said, all of the speakers are going to do generic topics.
Speaker ASo you could even be a bloody corner shop owner and it would still be relevant.
Speaker BYeah, well like I said, Bill's mindset thing I absolutely loved.
Speaker BLike, to be fair, I've never really fallen for the north south divide when it comes to money and nobody's got money.
Speaker BLike you only have to look outside, go to a, go to a shopping center at the minute and tell me nobody's got money because it's rammed.
Speaker BAnd I was thinking, but even, yeah, even just listening to him, like, I knew I was much calmer getting on that stage and I was like, you know what, he's 100% right and I've got nothing to do with grooming.
Speaker ASo yeah, no, and this is it.
Speaker AMindset goes across the board.
Speaker ASocial media goes across the board.
Speaker AObviously we've got Romany coming back who is an amazing financial advisor and she's going to be talking about how to make your money work for you.
Speaker ASo talking about stocks and shares and ISAs and things that people just, you know, goes over your head.
Speaker AAnd again, that's a thing I'm useless at as well, weirdly.
Speaker ABut so, yes, we've got everyone covered and it's going to be a fabulous day with no storms.
Speaker AAir con for all.
Speaker AIt was slightly, slightly toasty on the last one.
Speaker AWe, we all ended up in our pants and bras.
Speaker AIt's very inclusive.
Speaker AWe did strict.
Speaker AWe did strip Kevin off at the beginning.
Speaker AWhat I could do is I could.
Speaker BSet up a little store selling fans just in case.
Speaker AWell, I mean, business idea that would have been lucrative a few months ago because it was a bit hot.
Speaker ABut don't worry people, we have spoken to the aircon we'll be working for next October, it was very sweaty in that room and we did strip a guest as well.
Speaker ASo, you know, all things happen at the Expo.
Speaker ANothing is off limits.
Speaker AI ran round like a crazy bingo lady with the microphone.
Speaker ABut I'll be bringing more staff with me this time so I don't have to run around like a crazy person with the microphone phone.
Speaker ABut I did get my steps in, so we're all good.
Speaker AAnd just a quick question and, and I know you mentioned about the ads like Chuck and a tenor in it.
Speaker AThat's what I used to do when I first started was I'd do an ad because I didn't really know what they were and how it worked and I thought, I know when you do a post and says, do you want to boost this post?
Speaker AAnd you're like, yeah.
Speaker AAnd then you're like, yeah, 10 pound.
Speaker AAnd then obviously don't fucking work because it's like you've chucked a tenner at it now I follow various business people online.
Speaker AUm, don't really know how ethical we are, but hey ho.
Speaker ABut they say, oh, like in order to have a good Facebook ads, for it to go out you need to chuck like hundreds of pounds at it per month.
Speaker AIs that the case or like, is there a sweet spot that you know of, of money?
Speaker AI mean, obviously tenor ain't going to do nothing, but do you need to chuck 500 quid at it a month to.
Speaker BIt depends on your goal, really.
Speaker BLike, I've got an ad running at the minute and my budget on is like two pound a day.
Speaker BLike it's not.
Speaker BBut, but like anything, the more money you put in and you've done it properly.
Speaker ALike this is.
Speaker BWe have in somebody who knows what they're doing.
Speaker AExactly.
Speaker BLike having an accountant.
Speaker BExactly.
Speaker BHaving anybody, somebody who knows what they're doing will pay for themselves.
Speaker BYeah, yeah.
Speaker BSo, you know, it's better off having somebody who's an ad specialist or social media specialist or whatever and speaking to them and going, right, how do we do this?
Speaker BBecause there are custom audiences, they can use your email list, they can, they can split and test things.
Speaker BThey need to be test.
Speaker BThere's no point in my opinion, just going, I'll chuck a ten on this, I'll chuck 50 quid on there.
Speaker BI feel like it's just a waste of money because all a boosted post is do is go to the audience that you've.
Speaker BIt doesn't know enough.
Speaker BWhereas when you sell ad from scratch, an ad from scratch and you've got the right audiences and you've done all the testing, that ad is worth its weight in gold.
Speaker BSo like I said, I have ads where it's just a freebie that I'm just got at the moment.
Speaker BIf I chuck 2 pound a day on it at the minute, I might get four emails a day.
Speaker BSo I'm not making any money off it.
Speaker BWe're getting four, you know, emails a day.
Speaker BAnd then when I do my challenges, that could be up to like 50, 60 pound a day dependent on how many people I want.
Speaker BYeah, it's like, well, I was speaking to, to my mum by this yesterday and we having a conversation about it, it's like going to the bank and saying, well, here's 400 pound and you, you're giving them and you're shaking because you're like, here's 400 pound of my money and I'm giving you 600 pound back.
Speaker BThat's how a good ad.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BSo, no, I don't Believe in.
Speaker BYou have to chuck millions of schoolions of pounds on to a benefit of an ad.
Speaker BBut the same as anything, the more you put in, if you've set it up correctly, the more you should get out.
Speaker BSo, yeah, if you're looking at running ads, speak to an ad specialist and they should be able to help you work out where it's worth for any money.
Speaker BBecause one thing a lot of people do now at the moment as well is they go, oh, I won't run ads because it's Christmas time and nobody, you know, nobody's gonna buy anything.
Speaker BWell, everybody's doing the same thing right now.
Speaker BSo even from a social media.
Speaker BOk, organic, don't chuck any money at it, just post in, get your posts out, because nobody else now.
Speaker BSo, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker BI think it's.
Speaker BThere's lots of.
Speaker BAgain, it's all opinionated, isn't it?
Speaker BThere's all these myths that people say, oh, if you just do this and spin on the spot and clap three times, your ad will not work.
Speaker BYeah, it's.
Speaker BIt's set up.
Speaker BPeople say, you know, you won't get any results from social media that put in money behind it.
Speaker BAbsolute bull crap.
Speaker BLike, I've my ads running on Facebook, my Instagram, I've had about 500 new pet pros follow me this week and that's completely organic.
Speaker BSocial media doesn't just.
Speaker AWhat is that, an ad on Instagram or an ad on Facebook?
Speaker BNot even an ad.
Speaker BIt's not even an ad that's coming back of one of my carousels because the algorithms changed recently.
Speaker BBut we won't go into too much about that because I can speak all the way on, but it's bullcrap that doesn't work without ads.
Speaker BYou can absolutely do specials.
Speaker AWell, watch the space, guys.
Speaker AI will do an ad on the Expo and we'll see if it works.
Speaker AAnd I will.
Speaker AI've always been intrigued about Facebook ads.
Speaker AWe've never had to be in a lucky position where we've never had to use Facebook ads for the accountant side of things.
Speaker ABut I've always been intrigued to see if I could get them to work.
Speaker ASo I'm going to test the theory, guys, and I'm going to do an ad on the Expo.
Speaker ASo let me know if you see it on your Facebook if it comes up on your news feed and we'll give it a whirl and you can let me know if you see it.
Speaker BYeah, but like I said, yeah, before you go just chucking random money at it, make sure it's like an ad set up from scratch and, you know.
Speaker BOh, yeah, set up.
Speaker BNo, you haven't just click, boost post 50 quid.
Speaker ALike.
Speaker AOh, no, just, you know, boosting post maintain.
Speaker AAre gonna have a crack at it later and see, see what we can do so you can give us some honest feedback, guys when we do it.
Speaker AAnd the next time I come on after the Christmas break, I'll let you know if it worked.
Speaker AYeah, yeah, I'll be like.
Speaker AI'll be like, chuck 400 quid.
Speaker AIt got absolutely subtle.
Speaker ALesson learned.
Speaker AUse a professional.
Speaker BLiterally, I made a 400 pound mistake.
Speaker BSo you didn't have to.
Speaker AYeah, don't ask Vicky about Facebook ads because it flopped.
Speaker ABut I'm going to give it a whirl.
Speaker AWe'll see.
Speaker AWell, like, we'll see.
Speaker AWe'll chuck a 5 rally a day or something, see what happens.
Speaker ASee if we sell any tickets.
Speaker AThey are 50 sold out already, guys, which is amazing.
Speaker AWe only have 100 left because the 200 capacity, 100 have already gone within the first month.
Speaker ASo if you do want to take it, grab one or just wait for the ad to come out and get it from the ad.
Speaker ASo then I feel like it's worked.
Speaker BI feel like if you put five pound a day and you want people to buy, you probably won't end up getting matched because if you.
Speaker AOh, so I need to put more in.
Speaker BIf you want people to purchase, your ad spend's usually higher.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker ASo what, what you talking, like 50 kind?
Speaker BI like seven or nine.
Speaker AAh, bloody hell.
Speaker AI'll have it for a week.
Speaker BWhat if 50 pound a day equaled, let's say, three people purchasing?
Speaker AYeah, but what if it equals zero people purchasing?
Speaker BGamble.
Speaker AMoney's a gamble, guys.
Speaker AIt's a gamble.
Speaker AAre we gambling?
Speaker AAre we.
Speaker AAm I a gambling lady?
Speaker AYes, I am.
Speaker AI did when we went to Vegas.
Speaker AI know you're a fan of Vegas as well.
Speaker AWe win a little bit of money.
Speaker AI mean, I'm talking like it was like a hundred dollars.
Speaker AIt wasn't even Mason and Tegan.
Speaker AWas that right?
Speaker AWe'll.
Speaker AWe know, we'll put it in all strategically.
Speaker AI went, I went, sod it, Red.
Speaker ABecause we're on the roulette table.
Speaker ABecause that's the only one I know how.
Speaker AIt's the only one I know how to play.
Speaker AI don't really understand the card ones.
Speaker ASo it's either the slot machines, because you just put the money in and pull the thing, or the roulette table, because I get how you do it.
Speaker ASo I was, oh, no, let's live a little.
Speaker ALet's whack it all on red.
Speaker AOf course black came out, didn't it?
Speaker AYeah, that was the end of that.
Speaker AOh, no, she's put.
Speaker AShe put.
Speaker AIt was over 150.
Speaker AOh, well.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ASo a few hundred dollars.
Speaker AWe put 20 quid in.
Speaker AWe're up a couple of hundred dollars and I just whacked it all on red and black came out.
Speaker ATo make it.
Speaker BBe honest, what's the worst with an ad?
Speaker BI could have killed you.
Speaker ABut for that 30 seconds, I had the best time because I was like, oh, is it gonna come out?
Speaker ALet's live a little.
Speaker ALet's chuck it all in red.
Speaker AAnd obviously, like, yeah, it didn't come out.
Speaker AAnd I was sad after that, but for that split second, I was looking like.
Speaker AI was like, yeah, yeah, gamble.
Speaker ASo we'll see what happens.
Speaker AWatch this space.
Speaker ACome on.
Speaker BShe has now on Facebook ads, same principle.
Speaker AAll in.
Speaker AYou're just gonna go all in.
Speaker AI'll go home.
Speaker AI feel like I'll come on in January for an update and be like, yep, so, yeah, it didn't work with cardboard box.
Speaker AYeah, spent 500 quid.
Speaker AIt didn't work.
Speaker ASo there we go.
Speaker ABut, you know, if I can test it out, why not?
Speaker AWe'll give it a whirl, but we'll.
Speaker BSend more than fiverr is a test.
Speaker AEverything is.
Speaker ASo you're thinking 50 pound a day for a week.
Speaker BNo, I'm not thinking 50 pound.
Speaker AI.
Speaker BLike I said, I can't.
Speaker BI'm gonna caveat this with.
Speaker BI'm not an art specialist for the 55th time before, but for yours, for.
Speaker AYour challenge, how much is you.
Speaker BMy challenge again, I wasn't asking people to purchase anything.
Speaker BI was asking them sign up.
Speaker BSo the thing is, like.
Speaker BSo you would have to work out what.
Speaker BWhat you cost per click is this is where it all gets very, very, very.
Speaker BBecause for me, for example, an email is 40 pence.
Speaker BThat's what it equates to at the moment for your email costing me 40 pence if I want you to purchase something.
Speaker BSo when I run the challenge and then open the membership doors and I targeted my ad at the people who'd signed up to the challenge because you can use email list for that.
Speaker BIt was like 4 pound a click.
Speaker BSo that was.
Speaker BThat's.
Speaker BThat sale for 20, 25 pound cost me 4 pound.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker BSo it is going to be dependent.
Speaker BBut I.
Speaker BThe thing is, I wouldn't just go in, chuck 50 quid.
Speaker BIn it because it needs a testing period.
Speaker BYou're going to have to bed it in.
Speaker BIt's a whole science.
Speaker AWell, you pick your brains after that.
Speaker ASeven before I just go.
Speaker ACan work.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AThere we go.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker APerfect.
Speaker ARight, well, we shall call it a day for today.
Speaker AUm, I hope everyone found that useful.
Speaker AUm, I always love having you on because we always have a bit of a giggle before, during and after the podcast.
