Speaker:

ora whanau and welcome to the Krystal Rowe Impact podcast. Today

Speaker:

we are going to be talking about ancestors to

Speaker:

entrepreneurs, drawing strength from our past to shape our future.

Speaker:

There's been so many times in my life that I've had to

Speaker:

draw strength from my past. where

Speaker:

I've had times that I have been

Speaker:

so lost that I always go back to my safe place,

Speaker:

my safe person. And that's my great grandmother. And

Speaker:

I always know that no matter what, she

Speaker:

always shows up. And it's a really beautiful connection that

Speaker:

we have. from time to time that I've

Speaker:

needed her and I always remember her strength

Speaker:

and I always remember the power that she had

Speaker:

to always make me feel okay and

Speaker:

to make me feel loved. And I think that's

Speaker:

the beauty about the power of

Speaker:

our ancestors. I think that when we

Speaker:

reflect on the life that they lived

Speaker:

and the choices that they made to get us to where we

Speaker:

are today, to make a huge impact

Speaker:

on our everyday living is

Speaker:

because of them. I like to remember my grandmother

Speaker:

and just to be in

Speaker:

her memory because it gives me a reminder that

Speaker:

I'm stronger than what I feel. And on an entrepreneur journey,

Speaker:

I love to dream big and sometimes

Speaker:

my visions are so out of this world that some

Speaker:

people might think I'm crazy. And a lot of the things

Speaker:

that I do in life seem crazy, juggling

Speaker:

our 10 kids and businesses and starting

Speaker:

new ventures all the time. But one thing

Speaker:

that I always remember is that I come from a

Speaker:

really, really strong line of ancestors that

Speaker:

took up challenges that they didn't know the outcome of.

Speaker:

And I really believe that we can relate the choices and

Speaker:

the sacrifices that our ancestors made to

Speaker:

a current entrepreneur now. As

Speaker:

an entrepreneur, you're dreaming big and you're taking risks and

Speaker:

you don't know what's on the other side. Just

Speaker:

as like our ancestors, when my grandparents left

Speaker:

Niue to start a new life in New Zealand, they didn't

Speaker:

know what actually lied and what was waiting

Speaker:

for them. But they took the chance of

Speaker:

a better life anyway. And

Speaker:

I love that. I love the fact that they took

Speaker:

that chance, that the grass was greener on the other side, that

Speaker:

there was opportunity, that light in the promised land. And

Speaker:

that happens for us as entrepreneurs as well, that we

Speaker:

know that there's a better outcome, that there's

Speaker:

more to a nine to five, Monday to Friday, hustle and

Speaker:

bustle, being on the hamster wheel. We know

Speaker:

that if there's a passion burning within us, that

Speaker:

we can actually turn that passion into a purposeful business

Speaker:

and create a life of our dreams. And I'm so grateful

Speaker:

for my grandparents and my great-grandmother. And

Speaker:

I only say that far back because I haven't been

Speaker:

blessed enough to learn just yet how

Speaker:

far my ancestral strengths go. And that's a

Speaker:

journey that I'm definitely going to be taking. And

Speaker:

so as an entrepreneur, I know that I

Speaker:

can always be reminded of the courage and the

Speaker:

wisdom it took for my grandparents to make

Speaker:

a choice to leave for the Promised Land.

Speaker:

And I know in my heart that I'm creating and I'm

Speaker:

choosing every day to create a better life for my

Speaker:

children, for my husband, and

Speaker:

for myself. And so it's a journey that

Speaker:

I'm proud of, it's a journey that I love to share,

Speaker:

and it's a journey that I can't wait to empower others

Speaker:

to join me on. So as an entrepreneur, and

Speaker:

I love that term entrepreneur because it's really limitless. It

Speaker:

means for me that there's no boundaries to my

Speaker:

success. There's no limits to what I can achieve.

Speaker:

And I'm really forging and creating a new path that has

Speaker:

never been walked before. And that actually gives me so

Speaker:

much confidence and so much empowerment deep inside my

Speaker:

soul that I know that I'm actually making my

Speaker:

ancestors proud. I know that I'm

Speaker:

doing them justice. I believe that every

Speaker:

choice that I have made on my entrepreneurial journey

Speaker:

is a direct reflection of the choices that my ancestors

Speaker:

made. And I can stand here today so proud that

Speaker:

I've made the choices that I have in direct reflection

Speaker:

of the choices that they once made to give me and

Speaker:

my family more opportunity and a better life.

Speaker:

I never really thought too

Speaker:

much about the importance of making my ancestors

Speaker:

proud until I became a parent and I realized

Speaker:

the sacrifices that I've had to make and

Speaker:

the choices that I've had to make for the betterment of my children. And

Speaker:

so I find myself in

Speaker:

an absolute place of gratitude and

Speaker:

love and most importantly respect for

Speaker:

the sacrifices and the choices that my grandparents and

Speaker:

great-grandparents made to give my

Speaker:

family and my bloodline a better future.

Speaker:

And it's up to me now to

Speaker:

keep that going. And it's up to me to

Speaker:

make sure that my children respect and

Speaker:

honor the choices that my ancestors

Speaker:

made for a better future. Thanks for listening, whānau. Remember,
