Chelsey Donn:And that is your

Trey Gerrald:And together we are your lovely.

Trey Gerrald:All you gotta do is go to Patreon dot com slash Review That Review Chelsey.
Trey Gerrald:How is ya?
Chelsey Donn:Oh my God.
Chelsey Donn:I'm good.
Chelsey Donn:I'm good.
Chelsey Donn:I'm feeling like tired and drained a little bit, you know, like sort of swimming through the
Chelsey Donn:How's the car going?
Trey Gerrald:Oh, my God.
Trey Gerrald:I was gonna say, should I call you Dory?
Trey Gerrald:The car is great.
Chelsey Donn:Just keep swimming.
Trey Gerrald:Yes, it's good.
Trey Gerrald:I'm happy to have a car.
Trey Gerrald:I had to fill it up for the very first time and that was fun and not that bad.
Trey Gerrald:So I was happy about that.
Trey Gerrald:Thank you, Hyundai.
Trey Gerrald:And um, life is good.
Chelsey Donn:Where were you that you had to fill your own gas?
Chelsey Donn:Oh,
Trey Gerrald:Oh, well, someone had to do it, but like the tank, you know, went to empty.
Chelsey Donn:Got it.
Chelsey Donn:Got
Trey Gerrald:So I had to drive it somewhere for someone to pump it for me, cuz I am in New Jersey.
Chelsey Donn:Are you still as irritated about that?
Chelsey Donn:Or have you grown?
Chelsey Donn:Like, is it, is it as annoying as it once was?
Trey Gerrald:Well, I might do this as a, uh, Royal Highness at some point further down the
Chelsey Donn:Okay.
Chelsey Donn:Mm-hmm wow.
Trey Gerrald:They have like a card.
Trey Gerrald:So I had to get this card in the mail where you can save like up to like 50 cents per gallon.
Chelsey Donn:That's a lot.
Trey Gerrald:Right.
Trey Gerrald:But you have an ID number that you have to punch in.
Trey Gerrald:So I did have like this anxiety about like, oh my gosh, like, is the person
Trey Gerrald:And like, are they not gonna know what's happening?
Trey Gerrald:Am I gonna have to explain it?
Trey Gerrald:And then I'm not gonna be able to save my 8 cents that I thought that I would be saving,
Trey Gerrald:But it all worked out.
Chelsey Donn:Had they seen it before you weren't the first one with
Trey Gerrald:He, yeah, he must have understood.
Trey Gerrald:I made a tiny, teeny little label that said ID number and I put it on there
Trey Gerrald:Um, but he, he, he still asked me, um, but he said, what's the ID, not what's your zip code.
Trey Gerrald:And so I didn't have to have a conversation so that
Chelsey Donn:Oh good.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Trey Gerrald:How were you, how was your car?
Chelsey Donn:My car is good.
Chelsey Donn:No major complaints over here.
Chelsey Donn:Thank goodness.
Chelsey Donn:Uh, driving around LA traffic, you know, the regular Complaint about that all the time.
Chelsey Donn:Do we have anything else we wanna complain about today?
Trey Gerrald:Yeah, actually I think that it's time for us to both.
VOICEOVER:Lodge Complaint.
Trey Gerrald:right, so this is a little bizarre.
Trey Gerrald:So I received in the mail, this gorgeous purple envelope.
Trey Gerrald:And I was like,
Trey Gerrald:Ooh.
Trey Gerrald:what is this?
Trey Gerrald:And it just says my name or current resident.
Trey Gerrald:Open this envelope to read this exciting journey of being changed.
Trey Gerrald:And it's a little boy.
Trey Gerrald:So I opened it and it's this self-published book.
Trey Gerrald:Nothing else inside just this self-published book called changed.
Trey Gerrald:So of course in my.
Chelsey Donn:Oh, no,
Trey Gerrald:Non heteronormative world.
Trey Gerrald:I assumed this was about being changed from gay to straight,
Trey Gerrald:which is a journey I have had to endure many times in my life being from the south,
Trey Gerrald:I've had to have that conversation much more than I ever should.
Trey Gerrald:So I just assumed that's what this was.
Trey Gerrald:So I was offended and upset, angry.
Trey Gerrald:I was like, what's going on?
Trey Gerrald:Is this sent from my stepmom, my ex stepmom.
Trey Gerrald:So I did a little Googling.
Trey Gerrald:Turns out this is not about being changed from gay to straight.
Trey Gerrald:This is about being changed by the power of Jesus Christ.
Trey Gerrald:If you were born Jewish.
Chelsey Donn:Stop.
Trey Gerrald:Literally there's a New York times article a New York post article, tons
Trey Gerrald:This author, Tom canter got cancer.
Trey Gerrald:He decided that he needed to cure his spiritual cancer, which was thinking he was Jewish.
Chelsey Donn:Wow.
Trey Gerrald:now he wrote this self-published book and he sends it out to Jewish people to
Trey Gerrald:Here's a funny tidbit.
Trey Gerrald:I'm not Jewish.
Trey Gerrald:So
Chelsey Donn:to a Jew.
Trey Gerrald:yes, but David didn't get one.
Trey Gerrald:Um, I Donn don't know why I got this in the mail.
Trey Gerrald:It's very funny to me that they wasted postage on me.
Trey Gerrald:But, you know, whatever, I don't need to go into great details about this.
Trey Gerrald:If anyone has any experience on getting this in the mail, please, we always ask for people
Trey Gerrald:A, I think it's kind of brilliant.
Trey Gerrald:B
Chelsey Donn:Brilliant
Trey Gerrald:It's brilliant marketing.
Trey Gerrald:I think it's brilliant.
Trey Gerrald:If you have the budget.
Trey Gerrald:Solicit I've wanted to solicit postcards for this very podcast, forcing it on people.
Trey Gerrald:That's brilliant.
Trey Gerrald:I don't support.
Chelsey Donn:The message.
Trey Gerrald:I don't support pushing religion on anyone.
Trey Gerrald:I don't support pushing anything on anyone other than listening to this
Trey Gerrald:Anyway, that's my Complaint.
Trey Gerrald:Donn.
Trey Gerrald:Don't send me unsolicited Christian literature.
Trey Gerrald:That's atrocious.
Trey Gerrald:If you were raised Jewish and you think that's wrong, that's your personal journey?
Trey Gerrald:I don't think it's appropriate to like, try to push this.
Trey Gerrald:I'm gonna have to cut all of this, but it makes me really angry.
Trey Gerrald:You are in a cult, call your dad.
Trey Gerrald:Anyway, I'm not gonna read this, but I do feel like there's a little victory because
Trey Gerrald:Maybe I'm supporting a Jewish agenda because I love Jews.
Trey Gerrald:I love Yiddish.
Trey Gerrald:I insert myself into that culture constantly, but y'all, I haven't converted
Trey Gerrald:So I don't know why they gave me this.
Trey Gerrald:But, um, thanks Tom canter.
Chelsey Donn:That's wild.
Trey Gerrald:Isn't that the weirdest thing,
Chelsey Donn:think any kind of unsolicited male in general, it's
Chelsey Donn:Why, why would you send that to me?
Trey Gerrald:unless it speaks to you, maybe you're like, cool, but isn't it funny,
Chelsey Donn:I, 1000% thought that this was gonna be a conversion there, like gay conversion thing.
Chelsey Donn:And I was like, oh, they know you're gay.
Chelsey Donn:You're in the neighborhood.
Chelsey Donn:They're
Trey Gerrald:Right,
Chelsey Donn:for you.
Trey Gerrald:but this is from California Chelsey.
Trey Gerrald:So it's not a neighbor.
Trey Gerrald:It's a neighbor of yours.
Chelsey Donn:be getting one too, then maybe it's someone that's listened to
Trey Gerrald:Well, your last name isn't Donn.
Trey Gerrald:Dewitz it's Donn.
Chelsey Donn:but like Assess that Kvetch.
Chelsey Donn:I don't think
Trey Gerrald:I know Gerrald Gerrald Stein all ChelseyBD.
Trey Gerrald:What is your Complaint today?
Chelsey Donn:I do have a feeling we've lodged this as a Complaint
Chelsey Donn:So I was driving in my car and my phone was running outta battery
Chelsey Donn:So I went to the gas station to get a overpriced charger that probably wasn't gonna work anyway.
Chelsey Donn:So first Complaint by the charger took like forever to get like somebody to help
Chelsey Donn:And it's in like the packaging that is impossible to open and like, clearly I'm gonna go in my car.
Chelsey Donn:I Donn don't have like, Scissors.
Chelsey Donn:I don't have equipment with me.
Chelsey Donn:I'm gonna go in my car and try to open this.
Chelsey Donn:So I'm trying to open it.
Chelsey Donn:I'm like driving away, like trying to figure this out at the stop signs, which I don't recommend.
Chelsey Donn:And then finally I do get it out.
Chelsey Donn:I think this is excessive packaging.
Chelsey Donn:This is plastic.
Chelsey Donn:This is wasteful, but whatever, at least I got it out.
Chelsey Donn:Then I go to plug it into the USB port and the USB part snaps.
Trey Gerrald:Chelsey like the metal part just pops.
Chelsey Donn:yeah.
Chelsey Donn:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:And I'm like, thi this was behind a wall then in plastic that like, could kill 10 dolphins.
Chelsey Donn:And then the thing inside of it is like such a piece of crap that it's like falling apart.
Chelsey Donn:It's what is with the packaging that is like wasteful and just overindulgent.
Chelsey Donn:And it's not even doing the job.
Chelsey Donn:Like what?
Trey Gerrald:So wait, did you like, had you already driven away?
Chelsey Donn:Yes, I had driven cuz I was like in a rush and I was like, I gotta go.
Chelsey Donn:But I was using my phone for my navigation.
Chelsey Donn:So I was like, I gotta get this plugged in.
Chelsey Donn:Cuz I didn't really know where I was going.
Trey Gerrald:what'd you do, did you have to go buy another one?
Chelsey Donn:no, thankfully my phones made it to where I was going.
Chelsey Donn:And then I was able to borrow a charger and it was fine, but like, it's just, you know, obviously
Chelsey Donn:And then just like the whole thing about putting it behind the glass, like, like so
Trey Gerrald:Ineffective.
Trey Gerrald:I mean, it's really funny, like, cuz I also recently purchased a car.
Trey Gerrald:Like I wanted a short.
Trey Gerrald:Charger, cuz I don't want like the giant long one that I love when I'm in my house,
Trey Gerrald:And I really was like, okay, I don't wanna pay 1295 for this braided one cuz I know it's probably
Trey Gerrald:That's like, this is not a compatible device, which is so annoying.
Chelsey Donn:which I hate that too.
Trey Gerrald:And, but they did.
Trey Gerrald:Quote, unquote Mac ones.
Trey Gerrald:And I was like, I know that this is fake.
Trey Gerrald:Like, I know this is not really apple.
Trey Gerrald:This is like, I'm in Chinatown.
Trey Gerrald:And it's like, you know, like everything is a knockoff, but so far it's been okay.
Trey Gerrald:But yes, no, I always have dread when I have to buy a phone cord, cuz I always feel like.
Trey Gerrald:I have to buy the apple one, which is gonna be $900, because if I try to buy this cheap one,
Trey Gerrald:Did you ask the clerk if they had scissors, cuz sometimes they might have something more sharp
Chelsey Donn:getting this particular person that worked at this gas station to leave
Chelsey Donn:Like he wasn't like, what do you need?
Chelsey Donn:Let me help you out.
Chelsey Donn:He was like annoyed that I was removing him from his post.
Chelsey Donn:So now I didn't ask.
Trey Gerrald:I definitely hear that.
Trey Gerrald:Wow.
Trey Gerrald:Sorry.
Trey Gerrald:And Ugh, it goes back to that thought that eventually the wifi is
Trey Gerrald:Like when Jessica called in
Chelsey Donn:Oh, that's right.
Chelsey Donn:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:With a Complaint that,
VOICEOVER:Listener Voicemail!
Chelsey Donn:Oh my goodness.
Chelsey Donn:Oh my God.
Chelsey Donn:This is
Trey Gerrald:of listener voicemails, a listener voicemail.
Chelsey Donn:have a westerner voice, a westerner voicemail, my wishing a voice voicemail.
Trey Gerrald:Did you know that I went to speech therapy in elementary school.
Chelsey Donn:I think I did too.
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:Here we go.
Trey Gerrald:So here's a listener voicemail.
Trey Gerrald:Uh, I have no idea who it's from, so let's listen.
VOICEOVER:greens.
VOICEOVER:Uh, I Donn I don't have a name.
VOICEOVER:I don't have an alias either, but, uh, I just wanted to, to ask a question.
VOICEOVER:Do either of you ever find yourself sitting in a line of cars and the person at the front
Chelsey Donn:Mm-hmm
VOICEOVER:Yeah,
Trey Gerrald:Oh,
VOICEOVER:either they not park close enough.
VOICEOVER:They open the door and get out or they just reverse all together.
VOICEOVER:Something doesn't make sense.
VOICEOVER:What is wrong with these people?
VOICEOVER:It's like a parking ticket machine.
Trey Gerrald:my God.
VOICEOVER:I don't get.
VOICEOVER:Just curious if you Donn them, have that problem.
Chelsey Donn:is a very mysterious listener voicemail.
Chelsey Donn:They don't have a name.
Chelsey Donn:They don't have an alias, but they do have a Complaint to Lodge.
Chelsey Donn:Okay.
Chelsey Donn:I've definitely been in this experience many, a time.
Trey Gerrald:I've also been the person like, look, I, I Donn know if I've talked
Trey Gerrald:It was, you know, not that elegant and we bought it used.
Trey Gerrald:And when I would be at a stoplight or a stop sign, the transmission would start rattling
Chelsey Donn:Oh, my God.
Trey Gerrald:I would have to like put the car into park and then turn the key to turn it off.
Trey Gerrald:Then I would have to try to crank it again.
Trey Gerrald:And sometimes it would like not catch.
Trey Gerrald:So I'd be like trying to crank it multiple times.
Trey Gerrald:Then I would have to like put it back into drive and go so many times
Chelsey Donn:Oh, my goodness.
Trey Gerrald:The like workaround to that was, I had to simultaneously be pressing the gas
Trey Gerrald:Anyway, I gotta say that because there was also a time when the, uh, window didn't work.
Trey Gerrald:So anytime I would go to like a ticket thing or I would go to a drive
Trey Gerrald:Like if I was at an ATM.
Chelsey Donn:Right.
Trey Gerrald:And that is mortifying and embarrassing.
Trey Gerrald:Um, so I've been that person that like is having the issue, but I've, I don't know
Trey Gerrald:How do you feel when you're behind someone who like is having trauma?
Chelsey Donn:I think it just like depends on how far back you are in the line.
Chelsey Donn:Cuz like I really think that the real culprit in this situation is anxiety.
Chelsey Donn:I think from both sides, it can be a nightmare situation.
Chelsey Donn:But I've gotten better, to be honest about these kind of things.
Chelsey Donn:Because my road rage was out of control at one point for like this type of stuff.
Chelsey Donn:Like if I was going down the hill, even somebody was turning into a gate and like,
Chelsey Donn:And then I took this mindfulness class that told me when I get into situations like that,
Trey Gerrald:Uh,
Chelsey Donn:that would start to like, TreyGerrald just like new, new thoughts, I guess.
Chelsey Donn:So like, oh, what if they have car trouble?
Chelsey Donn:What if like, they like just trying to more get into the compassion mindset and then usually when
Chelsey Donn:But like, usually when that happens and like, I kind of flip the switch
Trey Gerrald:It's funny that you just went to that place, because my thought here
Trey Gerrald:Operating in the world is like, we can't control other people.
Trey Gerrald:It's like, it is like, but I feel like when I'm driving by myself, I have less road rage.
Trey Gerrald:But when I'm driving with David, I turn into a monster and he like, kind of laughs about
Trey Gerrald:Cuz I will just like cus and go crazy.
Trey Gerrald:Like I turn into a full.
Trey Gerrald:Country, hillbilly, redneck, where I'm like expletive mother the fuck up, you
Trey Gerrald:Cause I think I'm more tense when I'm driving someone than I am just driving myself.
Trey Gerrald:But I hear the caller.
Trey Gerrald:I understand the Complaint.
Trey Gerrald:I've definitely been there.
Trey Gerrald:And so maybe pause what a pleasure.
Chelsey Donn:For sure.
Chelsey Donn:Especially when it's like you got somewhere to go.
Chelsey Donn:And also just the fact that I don't know if this call, they didn't, I don't think
Chelsey Donn:You have to deal with these, get a ticket situations.
Chelsey Donn:And it's a
Trey Gerrald:Oh, like validating your ticket.
Chelsey Donn:Constantly.
Chelsey Donn:It's like, you're going into a parking structure, even if you're just gonna
Chelsey Donn:So.
Trey Gerrald:Oh, that's true.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:But yeah.
Chelsey Donn:Anyway, I hear you call her.
Trey Gerrald:the listener was, you should go to Review That Review dot com slash shop.
Trey Gerrald:by a Vere's ledger and every time you get upset and angry, you could just notate
Chelsey Donn:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:Take a photo of it.
Trey Gerrald:what ChelseyBD.
Trey Gerrald:And I do.
Chelsey Donn:Put it in your story.
Chelsey Donn:Tag us.
Trey Gerrald:All right, so let's move forward from our and our caller's coves
Trey Gerrald:How do you feel Chelsey?
Chelsey Donn:I feel really good about that.
Chelsey Donn:Trey
Trey Gerrald:Let's do it.
Trey Gerrald:Let's do our title.
VOICEOVER:That Review.
Chelsey Donn:as you know, we are your trustee review Queens.
Chelsey Donn:We bring in reviews from the internet that we feel need to be inspected.
Trey Gerrald:We read you the review, break it down and rate the impact of the
Trey Gerrald:It's a very Regal process that Chelsey and I love to call.
VOICEOVER:Assess that Kvetch.
Trey Gerrald:so Chelsey, give us the opportunity.
Trey Gerrald:What have you got for us to rate and review today?
Chelsey Donn:Well, Trey today, the day that this episode airs will be my sister and
Chelsey Donn:Mazel top to them.
Chelsey Donn:And so I just was thinking like, what is the ninth anniversary gift?
Chelsey Donn:Like, you know how every anniversary is a theme.
Chelsey Donn:It's like the paper thing, the, this thing, the, I don't know, there's lots of 'em.
Chelsey Donn:So I was like, what's the ninth.
Chelsey Donn:So I looked it up and the ninth anniversary is the pottery and Willow.
Chelsey Donn:Are the two symbols of the nine years of marriage.
Chelsey Donn:And so like people interpret the Willow one a little differently.
Chelsey Donn:Like some people do something with a Willow tree, I guess.
Chelsey Donn:Like there's something about the Willow plant that is in Rotan Raton, Donn, Rotan.
Chelsey Donn:Is that how you say?
Chelsey Donn:Or like
Trey Gerrald:I like Wicker
Chelsey Donn:so you can give yeah, like Wicker furniture is appropriate or, you
Trey Gerrald:coast.
Chelsey Donn:like That's or go or watching ghost.
Chelsey Donn:So I decided to look up color me mind, cuz I love color me mind.
Chelsey Donn:There was one around the corner when I was a kid.
Chelsey Donn:Did you, have you ever gone there?
Trey Gerrald:No, but I, I recognize
Chelsey Donn:know what it is?
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:So it's like that place you go and you pick something, a pottery item off
Chelsey Donn:And you got a beautiful ceramic dog bowl or something like that.
Chelsey Donn:So this review is a Yelp review of the color.
Chelsey Donn:Me mine in Pasadena.
Chelsey Donn:It is a One-Star-Zinger review written by mom, mom, L.
Chelsey Donn:You need spelling?
Trey Gerrald:like British mom, like a mom,
Chelsey Donn:My mom, like I was thinking like, almost like grandma, but maybe mom.
Chelsey Donn:Yeah, mom,
Trey Gerrald:Well, that's how the Brits say mom.
Trey Gerrald:They say, mom, it's my mom.
Chelsey Donn:oh really?
Chelsey Donn:Uh, mom, my mom, my mom.
Chelsey Donn:So mom, mom L.
Chelsey Donn:And this is, this is their One-Star-Zinger review of color.
Chelsey Donn:May mine in Pasadena.
Chelsey Donn:This place has no understanding or concern for children's hard work.
Trey Gerrald:Oh no.
Trey Gerrald:Oh no.
Chelsey Donn:I don't want my first Yelp review to be a negative one, but what happened at color?
Chelsey Donn:Me, mine.
Chelsey Donn:Pasadena is unforgivable.
Chelsey Donn:I would've given this place zero.
Chelsey Donn:If I could, first, we had made an appointment the previous day, but when we
Chelsey Donn:But there was a table available for us.
Chelsey Donn:My younger child, who is four years old, chose a knob to paint and worked
Chelsey Donn:When I went to pay, I was told that we needed to have a set of four knobs and couldn't purchase.
Chelsey Donn:Only one.
Trey Gerrald:oh my God.
Chelsey Donn:My only option was to get three more knobs and come back to paint them another time.
Trey Gerrald:What?
Chelsey Donn:a sign anywhere indicating that four needed to be purchased.
Chelsey Donn:And none of the knobs matched, there were not four matching knobs.
Chelsey Donn:I explained to the worker that there were not four knobs that matched, she explained
Chelsey Donn:Only the mug that my other child painted.
Chelsey Donn:I understood that to mean I wouldn't be charged, but would still get it since
Chelsey Donn:I went on to complete my purchase.
Chelsey Donn:And before I walked out of the store, asked to confirm about the knob.
Chelsey Donn:The worker said I was only getting the mug.
Chelsey Donn:The knob had been cleaned, meaning the work that my four year old had done was gone.
Chelsey Donn:This was less than a minute later,
Trey Gerrald:What
Chelsey Donn:needless to say my child and I were very upset that the work was gone
Chelsey Donn:The knob was meant to be her birthday present.
Chelsey Donn:The owner came out to talk to me after I had requested to see her, her explanation to me is
Chelsey Donn:I called back while I was driving home, since my child was still distraught.
Chelsey Donn:And my older child was worried that the other project we had paid for would also be washed away.
Chelsey Donn:I explained that I was not satisfied with the fact that the knob had been taken away so quickly, and
Chelsey Donn:Also I requested that they value a child's work, at least until the
Chelsey Donn:If I would've realized the knob was going to be washed, I might have purchased the set.
Chelsey Donn:If the owner would've been more compromising, she may have had my business for years to come,
Chelsey Donn:Has now cost her thousands.
Trey Gerrald:I'm just now my first thought here is I wonder how many visits you would have
Trey Gerrald:Thousands of dollars of business.
Chelsey Donn:L I don't know.
Chelsey Donn:Well, the, well, those places are kind of expensive.
Chelsey Donn:I bet you, if you did a birthday party there and you were buying
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:I'm sorry.
Trey Gerrald:What?
Trey Gerrald:The F is a knob,
Chelsey Donn:Oh,
Trey Gerrald:a doorknob.
Chelsey Donn:I was picturing like on, you know, how like on furniture, like on a dresser,
Trey Gerrald:Yeah, like pulls and
Chelsey Donn:there's a knob, like a, yeah, that's what I was picturing,
Chelsey Donn:Maybe
Trey Gerrald:I, but I literally went to color me, mind.com and looked up things you can paint.
Trey Gerrald:I searched the word knob and nothing comes up.
Trey Gerrald:I P I searched and handle
Chelsey Donn:had to get rid of it because.
Trey Gerrald:wait.
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:Wait.
Chelsey Donn:it caused such a CURF.
Trey Gerrald:I'm lost early on here.
Trey Gerrald:Wait, why was mom L not able to purchase three more?
Trey Gerrald:Cause none of them matched,
Chelsey Donn:I guess like, so let's say maybe they, they require you to buy four,
Chelsey Donn:So maybe they only had like two of every kind or three of every kind or something like that.
Chelsey Donn:So like, there would be no way of getting four matching knobs.
Chelsey Donn:Like if I was gonna replace the knobs on my dresser or whatever it is, you know what I mean?
Chelsey Donn:Then like,
Trey Gerrald:So they wouldn't allow mom, mom L to get two of one kind and two of
Chelsey Donn:No, they would allow, but my mom was, my mom was, first of all, like nobody told us
Trey Gerrald:Right.
Trey Gerrald:I wrote that down.
Chelsey Donn:one.
Chelsey Donn:Then, then like second me.
Chelsey Donn:Policy is to make four.
Chelsey Donn:Let's say I did wanna get four.
Chelsey Donn:Well, then I couldn't get four matching.
Chelsey Donn:So that'd be weird.
Chelsey Donn:I didn't want non-matching knobs.
Chelsey Donn:So like, I think what she was trying to say is like, okay, I understand that's not your
Chelsey Donn:I would have to buy two different kinds.
Chelsey Donn:So can't you let me get away with it.
Chelsey Donn:I feel like is what mom, mom was saying.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah, I think that's the thesis statement here, which then is an interesting
Chelsey Donn:Right.
Trey Gerrald:I Donn Donn really know like how you get around that.
Trey Gerrald:But the idea that what finally occurred was that they took it and washed it.
Trey Gerrald:That is so aggressive and crazy.
Chelsey Donn:and create
Trey Gerrald:This is a child
Chelsey Donn:minutes and it's a child's thing.
Chelsey Donn:Yeah, exactly.
Trey Gerrald:that is really outrageous to me.
Chelsey Donn:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:I mean, I think that what must have happened is that like, they were obviously
Chelsey Donn:And she was like, okay.
Chelsey Donn:And then handed it off to be like clean, you know, like, just like, obviously didn't
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:So I've never been to the proper color.
Trey Gerrald:Me, mine.
Trey Gerrald:I've been to this sort of business model store many times in my life.
Trey Gerrald:That's not called color me, mine, but they're all the same.
Trey Gerrald:And generally speaking.
Trey Gerrald:People that choose to work.
Trey Gerrald:There are, I would say artsy, Craftsy kinds of people.
Trey Gerrald:They're usually fun and young.
Trey Gerrald:Like they're how do I say this without being stereotypical?
Trey Gerrald:I Donn know.
Trey Gerrald:I kind of feel like it's usually, like they're not making their entire living from this job.
Trey Gerrald:So sometimes people could have like, not a lot of concern necessarily about, I
Trey Gerrald:That is crazy to.
Chelsey Donn:I think that that's crazy.
Chelsey Donn:And I feel like that's like, that's like traumatic enough for a kid that as a
Chelsey Donn:Like that's where they lose me is like, even if they said, listen, I'm so sorry, obvi
Chelsey Donn:Here's a, you know, coupon or whatever comeback, and you can get an item
Chelsey Donn:Paint it on us.
Chelsey Donn:Like you have to make good on something like that.
Chelsey Donn:You can't just delete someone's kid's artwork and then not do anything about it.
Trey Gerrald:what it feels like.
Chelsey Donn:Like how could they not have done anything?
Chelsey Donn:I mean, I understand that she got in the car, but.
Chelsey Donn:She was probably like dealing with her kids crying and like a whole thing.
Chelsey Donn:And she did say that she talked to the manager because she demand or the owner
Chelsey Donn:So I don't really know that my mom could have done anything differently.
Chelsey Donn:I , that's a
Trey Gerrald:I thought the, um, metaphor of like, if you bought fries and
Trey Gerrald:Like, I just think that's really fun now.
Trey Gerrald:I want some fries.
Chelsey Donn:really weird like retort for an owner to say back.
Trey Gerrald:For a knob,
Chelsey Donn:And also it's not the same thing as French fries.
Chelsey Donn:It's like you made that thing,
Trey Gerrald:right.
Trey Gerrald:And French fries are perishable.
Trey Gerrald:That's why you throw them away.
Chelsey Donn:right?
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:Wait, so what is, uh, ma ma Mel's spelling and grammar like.
Chelsey Donn:I think pretty good.
Chelsey Donn:There might have been one mistake.
Chelsey Donn:There's not a ton of punctuation, but I think overall good.
Chelsey Donn:The only thing I would ding a little long, little repetitive with the knobs,
Trey Gerrald:do you think that this is truthful?
Trey Gerrald:I do.
Trey Gerrald:For some reason.
Chelsey Donn:I do.
Chelsey Donn:I think it's, again, like it's specific enough that it feels truthful,
Trey Gerrald:So then, okay.
Trey Gerrald:Do you think this is gonna be typical?
Trey Gerrald:The thing about there being no sign indicating that you must purchase a certain number that
Chelsey Donn:Yeah,
Trey Gerrald:of drawers.
Chelsey Donn:ceramic knobs.
Chelsey Donn:It's a ceramic knob.
Chelsey Donn:That's what it is.
Chelsey Donn:And like, I can see a parent for a four year old or whatever, you know, doing something like that.
Chelsey Donn:Cause it's small.
Chelsey Donn:It's like, oh, they can feel like they're involved, but it's not really like a whole to do.
Trey Gerrald:thing, right?
Chelsey Donn:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:So I think it's common.
Chelsey Donn:And I think it's like common enough in a worthwhile way of like, if I was gonna go to
Chelsey Donn:Not only are they not copying to what they had done wrong, but they're like, you are an idiot.
Chelsey Donn:Like, what did you think was gonna happen when we were like, we're
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Trey Gerrald:See to me, I just feel like this is wreaking of like really bad business practice.
Trey Gerrald:Like, especially like, I just feel like these places are like bachelorette parties,
Trey Gerrald:So like to be that like, To have that much of a disregard for a child's work is so atrocious.
Trey Gerrald:I don't even care about children, so it's not like I see them as more valuable than adults,
Trey Gerrald:Like, if you it's like, you can't just buy one, but it just seems like this is crazy.
Trey Gerrald:Do we think it's funny or humorous or.
Trey Gerrald:Do we think it's entertaining?
Trey Gerrald:I don't know.
Chelsey Donn:There are moments of it that I like chuckled up, but like, yeah, no, I think that
Chelsey Donn:I Donn don't necessarily think it's.
Chelsey Donn:I'll like laugh out loud, but it's not really written to be though like
Chelsey Donn:So,
Trey Gerrald:of knob over and over is actually funny to me.
Trey Gerrald:All right.
Trey Gerrald:Well, do you think this there's an impact here for you for going to the Pasadena color?
Trey Gerrald:Me mine.
Trey Gerrald:That was.
Chelsey Donn:Absolutely.
Chelsey Donn:I mean, I think if I was gonna go there, I would like be, I'd be very wary.
Chelsey Donn:I'd wanna make sure that everything was handled really well.
Chelsey Donn:And the last thing I'll say in regards to who's working there is just that
Chelsey Donn:They could be really young.
Chelsey Donn:Not that I'm saying that that's an excuse either, but color remind very much is
Chelsey Donn:So I wouldn't
Trey Gerrald:I was trying to get to earlier.
Chelsey Donn:I wouldn't be shocked if like these were, you know, kids basically who just wanted to
Chelsey Donn:Like I gotta clean all the things that were return.
Chelsey Donn:Like what, you know what I mean?
Chelsey Donn:Because
Trey Gerrald:right.
Trey Gerrald:Like maybe it was the end of the night.
Trey Gerrald:Well, I don't know if you'd have a four year old at like 9:00 PM, but like, if it is like,
Chelsey Donn:think they just like threw it in the pile.
Chelsey Donn:Yeah.
Chelsey Donn:So either way, like, I would wanna know
Trey Gerrald:But they say the manager.
Trey Gerrald:So like, but I guess there could be the owner, they say the owner.
Trey Gerrald:So like that's not gonna be a teenager
Chelsey Donn:No, but that's where I really feel like things went, went awry.
Trey Gerrald:bed, knobs and broomsticks.
Trey Gerrald:All right.
Trey Gerrald:I think I could crown
Chelsey Donn:I can cry, mom, mom.
Chelsey Donn:Let's do.
Trey Gerrald:Let's crown mom, mom.
Trey Gerrald:All right.
Trey Gerrald:So Chelsey and I each have our own set of zero to five crown cards in an effort to be
VOICEOVER:The Queens are Tabulating.
VOICEOVER:Total Score!.
Chelsey Donn:I'm holding up four crowns.
Chelsey Donn:Trey is holding up four and a half crowns.
Chelsey Donn:All right, Trey, why four and a half crowns for my mom.
Trey Gerrald:I just think that like, if this, it, it does ring as truthful to
Trey Gerrald:Location.
Trey Gerrald:I would think that if this is the practice for a four year old then, and there's no like
Trey Gerrald:And then I don't know what I'll do about a kiln, but I'll figure it out later.
Trey Gerrald:Cuz I don't.
Trey Gerrald:I mean, it just seems really dispassionate.
Trey Gerrald:And I think the whole point of art is compassion.
Trey Gerrald:So just a total miss for me.
Trey Gerrald:I didn't give the whole five cuz I just think, Ugh, I can't tell if there's maybe like a tinge
Trey Gerrald:Oh, help me with my, but like regardless, I don't wanna be in this situation.
Trey Gerrald:I'm sorry that my mom was, and for that reason I said four and a half Chelsey.
Trey Gerrald:Why did you say four?
Chelsey Donn:I one with four, mostly ditto to everything you just said.
Chelsey Donn:I'll just add that.
Chelsey Donn:I don't necessarily think everybody that's going into that store is gonna have this experience.
Chelsey Donn:I don't think, I think most of the items are probably not this four for one, so I don't
Chelsey Donn:Everyone that goes there.
Chelsey Donn:So I wanna leave a little bit of room, but I do think that it was really, really mismanaged.
Chelsey Donn:I don't like the owner's metaphor with the French fries business.
Chelsey Donn:And I think that, I think my mom did deserve the four crowns, so that's why I went with four.
Trey Gerrald:Totally.
Trey Gerrald:Oh my gosh.
Trey Gerrald:Good job.
Trey Gerrald:Well, congratulations to your brother-in-law's sister for their
Trey Gerrald:ninth wedding anniversary.
Trey Gerrald:And I hope that they don't get treated the way
Chelsey Donn:I know.
Trey Gerrald:year old did.
Chelsey Donn:I'll have to make sure they didn't go to the Pasadena color.
Chelsey Donn:Me mine.
Trey Gerrald:Or we can leave the possibility that maybe they've learned their lesson, but
Chelsey Donn:Or if they took the kids that like my, um, niece and nephews would definitely
Chelsey Donn:Like, they'd be like, I want the, you know, ninja turtle or whatever.
Chelsey Donn:have we done it.
Chelsey Donn:Have we reached the most Regal portion of our show, Trey know, Trey,
Chelsey Donn:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:All right.
Trey Gerrald:So this occurred to me.
Trey Gerrald:Not too long ago.
Trey Gerrald:And I didn't even like think twice about it.
Trey Gerrald:And then I was like, whoa, this totally has changed the world.
Trey Gerrald:It was invented 23 years ago in 1999 by a person named Aaron Peckham.
Trey Gerrald:Do you have any idea what it is?
Trey Gerrald:ChelseyBD
Chelsey Donn:I don't know.
Chelsey Donn:What is it?
Trey Gerrald:have you ever heard of urban dictionary.com?
Chelsey Donn:Yes, I have
Trey Gerrald:So as someone who isn't always up on the talks, I'm not up on the lingo.
Trey Gerrald:I like, you know, I'm just getting to a place in my life where certain
Trey Gerrald:And so I constantly will have to go and.
Trey Gerrald:Find out what some abbreviation means, what some, like word means.
Trey Gerrald:Cuz I don't understand.
Trey Gerrald:And I always go to urban dictionary now.
Trey Gerrald:I don't know when I first understood what this was or know where all that began for me personally,
Trey Gerrald:I know I have visited the website many hundreds of times and.
Trey Gerrald:I Donn don't think I've ever actually contributed, but today I wanna induct urban dictionary and
Trey Gerrald:So anyone who doesn't know I'll be your urban dictionary for what urban dictionary is.
Trey Gerrald:Urban dictionary is basically a crowdsourced online dictionary for slang words and phrases.
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:So in 1999, Aaron Peckham was a freshman.
Trey Gerrald:Cal poly and they were creating, they actually first made a spoof website of ask JS.
Trey Gerrald:Do you remember ask JS?
Chelsey Donn:Oh, my God.
Chelsey Donn:Yes.
Trey Gerrald:of like Google.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Trey Gerrald:But they actually got a letter of infringement.
Trey Gerrald:Like you, you can't do that.
Trey Gerrald:So.
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:Anyway, so whatever.
Trey Gerrald:So eventually that led Aaron Peckham to creating urban dictionary and it really blew up.
Trey Gerrald:This is so weird and crazy.
Trey Gerrald:In 2003.
Trey Gerrald:So five years later, a news article was written about a judge in the UK had used
Trey Gerrald:And so the judge didn't understand and so went to urban dictionary and when that article came
Trey Gerrald:And yeah.
Trey Gerrald:So anyway, so urban dictionary is a place where if someone is like L M a F O and you like don't
Trey Gerrald:Type in LM, AFO, meaning, and usually the urban dictionary website will pop up.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Trey Gerrald:Anyway, I use it constantly.
Trey Gerrald:I'm sure that everyone else does.
Trey Gerrald:And it's one of those things that it's like, it just exists.
Trey Gerrald:And so I've never thought about it.
Trey Gerrald:I never stopped to think like who had this idea and I think urban dictionary.
Trey Gerrald:Is like, totally like Facebook, like it's like, this is a genius invention
Trey Gerrald:So that's why today I have inducted urban dictionary as my Royal Highness.
Trey Gerrald:You are a Queen urban dictionary.
Chelsey Donn:Yes, you are.
Chelsey Donn:Have you ever looked your name up on urban dictionary?
Trey Gerrald:No.
Trey Gerrald:Should.
Chelsey Donn:Oh my God.
Chelsey Donn:We'll do in the after show.
Trey Gerrald:Okay.
Trey Gerrald:Oh, that's fun.
Trey Gerrald:Yeah.
Trey Gerrald:I wanna
Chelsey Donn:Yeah, it's an experience.
Chelsey Donn:It's a mixed bag for me.
Chelsey Donn:Mostly good.
Chelsey Donn:Mostly good for the Chelsey with a Y, but you know, there's always
Trey Gerrald:It is funny to me.
Trey Gerrald:Like, I do feel like sometimes there's jokey ones, but then, then like, you'll
Chelsey Donn:Right.
Chelsey Donn:It's in there.
Chelsey Donn:It's in
Trey Gerrald:Wait, there was something I looked up recently.
Trey Gerrald:Oh, I, what was, oh, it was like, Belongs on the street or to the street.
Trey Gerrald:I Donn know some, I Donn know it I've went on this whole rap hall.
Trey Gerrald:It doesn't matter.
Trey Gerrald:We'll talk about it in the app show anyway.
Trey Gerrald:All right.
Trey Gerrald:So here we are Chelsey.
Trey Gerrald:We have done it.
Trey Gerrald:We have reached the end of today's episode, the conclusion of another round on the
