Amin Ahmed:

Here's a quote that I heard from Kobe Bryant that really stuck in my head.

Amin Ahmed:

I have self doubt.

Amin Ahmed:

I have insecurity.

Amin Ahmed:

I have fear of failure.

Amin Ahmed:

I have nights when I show up at their arena and I'm like, my back hurts.

Amin Ahmed:

My feet hurt.

Amin Ahmed:

My knees I just don't have it.

Amin Ahmed:

I want to chill.

Amin Ahmed:

We all have self-doubt.

Amin Ahmed:

You don't deny it, but you also don't capitulate it.

Amin Ahmed:

You embrace it.

Amin Ahmed:

That quote from Kobe Bryant keeps coming up.

Amin Ahmed:

When I think about self-doubt.

Amin Ahmed:

So, what do you do if you don't have superhuman athletic abilities and confidence, like Kobe.

Amin Ahmed:

In today's episode, I'll discuss the power of mastermind groups and why?

Amin Ahmed:

I think every entrepreneur should be in a mastermind group.

Amin Ahmed:

I'm Amin, Ahmed and welcome to Be.

Amin Ahmed:

Well, Do Well.

Amin Ahmed:

If you're not familiar with the term mastermind, it's a term that was coined by Napoleon hill and described in his book think and grow rich.

Amin Ahmed:

He explains that the idea of a mastermind is where two or more people come together in harmony to solve problems.

Amin Ahmed:

One of the biggest benefits of working with others is that you can achieve bigger goals than you may have thought possible.

Amin Ahmed:

For example in our company, remarkable branding.

Amin Ahmed:

Our leadership consists of three partners.

Amin Ahmed:

My role is more on the technical and marketing side.

Amin Ahmed:

My business partner, Heather focuses on branding and design, and my wife Shayla's role is to ensure that all the operations run smoothly.

Amin Ahmed:

Combining all of our strengths together allows us to get significantly more done.

Amin Ahmed:

Then if we had tried to do it on our own and trust me, I've tried to run a business on my own, and it is so stressful and overwhelming that I am super grateful to have these two in my life.

Amin Ahmed:

Another benefit of being part of a mastermind group is that you're holding others accountable for meeting their goals.

Amin Ahmed:

But more importantly, you're also being held accountable by them for doing the work to accomplish what you said you were going to do.

Amin Ahmed:

A, mark of a great mastermind group is that all members feel safe and supported.

Amin Ahmed:

That is so important.

Amin Ahmed:

I've been part of some mastermind groups where most members were there just for selfish reasons.

Amin Ahmed:

They weren't there to support others.

Amin Ahmed:

And I felt like they were just there to try to make a sale.

Amin Ahmed:

I definitely left that mastermind group and did not feel good about that.

Amin Ahmed:

The accountability should definitely not be used to shame or blame others, but rather to support and nurture them.

Amin Ahmed:

And that's what really makes a great mastermind group worth staying in.

Amin Ahmed:

One thing.

Amin Ahmed:

I find fascinating though, about mastermind groups.

Amin Ahmed:

Especially, those that have been part of is that the overall goal is usually business growth.

Amin Ahmed:

But usually the conversations inevitably drift towards wellbeing and purpose.

Amin Ahmed:

And I find that amazing because why else are you in business?

Amin Ahmed:

Why else are you trying to make money?

Amin Ahmed:

If not.

Amin Ahmed:

First for financial gain for personal productivity and satisfaction, but also purpose and legacy.

Amin Ahmed:

Really important that if you're in business that you think about purpose and legacy.

Amin Ahmed:

The last point about why you should join a mastermind group is to build and continue momentum.

Amin Ahmed:

When I'm in a mastermind group and I see others doing really well, of course, part of me is like, oh man, I need to catch up.

Amin Ahmed:

But the other part of me is also really excited to see the potential.

Amin Ahmed:

And when somebody else does something, then you feel a little bit more motivated to do it as well.

Amin Ahmed:

It's a natural pull towards getting your goals accomplished when you see others doing the same.

Amin Ahmed:

Prior to 1954.

Amin Ahmed:

Running a mile in under four minutes was thought unachievable, no one had ever done it before then.

Amin Ahmed:

Roger banister at the age of 25, did it in three minutes, 59 seconds.

Amin Ahmed:

Point four.

Amin Ahmed:

As of April, 2021, that four minute barrier has been broken by thousands of athletes.

Amin Ahmed:

And now it's a standard when it comes to professional athletes, running distances.

Amin Ahmed:

So why did I bring that up?

Amin Ahmed:

Well, when you see others do what feels unattainable or unachievable, you actually can do it yourself.

Amin Ahmed:

You actually feel like, well, maybe I can do that as well now.

Amin Ahmed:

The members in my mastermind group that I'm in now are amazing.

Amin Ahmed:

They achieve.

Amin Ahmed:

Extraordinary things.

Amin Ahmed:

And that really helps because when I see others doing it,

Amin Ahmed:

It really gives me that motivation that I can do it as well.

Amin Ahmed:

Motivation is not one of the things that you'll find mastermind groups promoting, but it's definitely one of the best intangible benefits that you'll There's a saying about how you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with.

Amin Ahmed:

Well, by joining a high-performing mastermind group, you're sure to increase your average likely in ways that you didn't even expect.

Amin Ahmed:

So to recap.

Amin Ahmed:

The three big reasons for joining a mastermind group or to set an aim for bigger goals, accountability, and achieving your goals, and lastly, to motivate and be motivated by others.

Amin Ahmed:

In the next episode, I'm going to be talking a little bit about why mentorship is essential for entrepreneurs.

Amin Ahmed:

And this episode, we talked about mastermind groups.

Amin Ahmed:

Well, mentorship is the other element that I think is essential for entrepreneurs to all have.

Amin Ahmed:

I hope you join me tomorrow.

Amin Ahmed:

And thanks again for making the Be Well, Do Well podcast a part of your day.
