Here's today's reading.

Reading from Luke 12:32 40 from the Message what I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God's giving.

People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things.

But you know both God and how he works.

Steep yourself in God reality, God initiative, God provisions.

You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

Don't be afraid of missing out.

You're my dearest friends.

The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.

Be generous.

Give to the poor.

Get yourselves a bank that can't go bankrupt.

A bank in heaven, far from bank robbers and safe from embezzlers.

A bank you can bank on.

It's obvious, isn't it?

The place where your treasure is, is the place you must most will want, most want to be and end up being.

When the Master shows up, keep your shirts on, keep the lights on.

Be like house servants waiting for their master to come back from his from his honeymoon, awake and ready to open the door when he arrives and knocks.

Lucky.

The servants whom the Master finds on watch, who put an apron, sit them at the table and serve them a meal, sharing his wedding feast with them.

It doesn't matter what time of the night he arrives.

They're awake and so blessed.

You know, that the house owner had known what night the burglar was coming, he wouldn't have stayed out late and left the place unlocked.

So don't you be lazy and careless just when you don't expect him.

The Son of Man will show up.

Well in in this Reflection Today, Luke challenges our conventional wisdom about security and wealth and a readiness for transformation.

So let's get into some points to ponder.

The first is about a divine abundance versus a scarcity mindset.

Jesus begins by addressing anxiety about scarcity, a fear deliberately cultivated by consumer capitalism.

Don't be afraid of missing out, he says.

It isn't just comfort, it's resistance against systems that net that profit from our fears of not having enough.

God's economy operates on abundance, not artificial scarcity.

A second point to ponder is about revolutionary banking.

They call to get yourself a bank that can't go bankrupt isn't just metaphorical, is a direct challenge to economic systems that concentrate wealth and exploit the poor.

Jesus suggests investing in community well being rather than individual wealth accumulation, something reflected today in mutual aid networks and community owned resources.

One more point is about radical role reversal.

The image of the Master serving the servants completely upends power dynamics.

This isn't just about an individual's humility, it's about systematic transformation.

It challenges hierarchical structures in our churches, workplaces, society and politics, suggesting that true leadership means dismantling traditional power structures.

Here's your action step.

Identify one way your resources are currently invested in maintaining unjust systems, perhaps through banking choices, shopping habits or investment patterns.

Then create a concrete plan to redirect those resources towards community empowerment.

That might mean moving money to a credit union or joining some sort of a aid network or helping establish some sort of a community land trust.

We confess our entanglement in economics of fear and scarcity.

Help us see where your treasure truly lies.

Not in secure bank accounts or retirement plans, but but in communities of mutual care and support.

Give us courage to divest from systems that harm and invest in networks of liberation.

Keep us awake and alert to opportunities for transformation, ready to participate in your kingdom of justice and abundance.

Grant us wisdom to be both prudent and generous, knowing the true security lies in collective well being.
