Speaker AHere's today's reading.
Speaker AReading from Luke 12:32 40 from the Message what I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God's giving.
Speaker APeople who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things.
Speaker ABut you know both God and how he works.
Speaker ASteep yourself in God reality, God initiative, God provisions.
Speaker AYou'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
Speaker ADon't be afraid of missing out.
Speaker AYou're my dearest friends.
Speaker AThe Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.
Speaker ABe generous.
Speaker AGive to the poor.
Speaker AGet yourselves a bank that can't go bankrupt.
Speaker AA bank in heaven, far from bank robbers and safe from embezzlers.
Speaker AA bank you can bank on.
Speaker AIt's obvious, isn't it?
Speaker AThe place where your treasure is, is the place you must most will want, most want to be and end up being.
Speaker AWhen the Master shows up, keep your shirts on, keep the lights on.
Speaker ABe like house servants waiting for their master to come back from his from his honeymoon, awake and ready to open the door when he arrives and knocks.
Speaker ALucky.
Speaker AThe servants whom the Master finds on watch, who put an apron, sit them at the table and serve them a meal, sharing his wedding feast with them.
Speaker AIt doesn't matter what time of the night he arrives.
Speaker AThey're awake and so blessed.
Speaker AYou know, that the house owner had known what night the burglar was coming, he wouldn't have stayed out late and left the place unlocked.
Speaker ASo don't you be lazy and careless just when you don't expect him.
Speaker AThe Son of Man will show up.
Speaker AWell in in this Reflection Today, Luke challenges our conventional wisdom about security and wealth and a readiness for transformation.
Speaker ASo let's get into some points to ponder.
Speaker AThe first is about a divine abundance versus a scarcity mindset.
Speaker AJesus begins by addressing anxiety about scarcity, a fear deliberately cultivated by consumer capitalism.
Speaker ADon't be afraid of missing out, he says.
Speaker AIt isn't just comfort, it's resistance against systems that net that profit from our fears of not having enough.
Speaker AGod's economy operates on abundance, not artificial scarcity.
Speaker AA second point to ponder is about revolutionary banking.
Speaker AThey call to get yourself a bank that can't go bankrupt isn't just metaphorical, is a direct challenge to economic systems that concentrate wealth and exploit the poor.
Speaker AJesus suggests investing in community well being rather than individual wealth accumulation, something reflected today in mutual aid networks and community owned resources.
Speaker AOne more point is about radical role reversal.
Speaker AThe image of the Master serving the servants completely upends power dynamics.
Speaker AThis isn't just about an individual's humility, it's about systematic transformation.
Speaker AIt challenges hierarchical structures in our churches, workplaces, society and politics, suggesting that true leadership means dismantling traditional power structures.
Speaker AHere's your action step.
Speaker AIdentify one way your resources are currently invested in maintaining unjust systems, perhaps through banking choices, shopping habits or investment patterns.
Speaker AThen create a concrete plan to redirect those resources towards community empowerment.
Speaker AThat might mean moving money to a credit union or joining some sort of a aid network or helping establish some sort of a community land trust.
Speaker AWe're going to come back and have a closing prayer here in just a minute.
Speaker AI always want you to let you know that we have a great resource just for you.
Speaker AIt's called the ABC 123 Bible Study Method.
Speaker AIt will help you with your at home daily Bible study.
Speaker ALet's pray.
Speaker AO God, you are the divine disruptor of systems.
Speaker AWe confess our entanglement in economics of fear and scarcity.
Speaker AWhen we're tempted to hoard resources out of anxiety, remind us of your abundant care.
Speaker AHelp us see where your treasure truly lies.
Speaker ANot in secure bank accounts or retirement plans, but but in communities of mutual care and support.
Speaker AGive us courage to divest from systems that harm and invest in networks of liberation.
Speaker AKeep us awake and alert to opportunities for transformation, ready to participate in your kingdom of justice and abundance.
Speaker AGrant us wisdom to be both prudent and generous, knowing the true security lies in collective well being.
Speaker AAmen.
