Hey, hey, this is Shaun with the GoTennis! Podcast powered by Signature Tennis.
Speaker:Today's tennis tip comes from Coach Nathan Singleton.
Speaker:Have a listen and let us know what you think.
Speaker:Hello everyone, this is Nathan from First Serve University, your tactical specialist here
Speaker:to give you more advice on how to win matches.
Speaker:What do you do when your opponent takes you way off the court with a good angle and you're
Speaker:trying to find a way back in the point?
Speaker:You've probably been taught to loop it back or hit it harder.
Speaker:Today I want you to think about an easier, more high percentage play.
Speaker:I want you to hit that ball almost as hard as you can through the middle of the court.
Speaker:What this does is it handcuffs your opponent.
Speaker:They can't hit any more angles to put you on the run and most people will just have to
Speaker:pop it up and give you opportunity to take back control and seize the point.
Speaker:Most players think, "Oh, I've just seen to hit a better angle than they did or I'm just
Speaker:going to blast this forehand down the line and often it ends up in errors."
Speaker:Next time, hit that ball hard down the middle and see what happens.
Speaker:This is Nathan from First Air of University, your tactical specialist giving you another
Speaker:piece of advice on how to win matches.
Speaker:Well there you have it.
