Welcome to Love Notes from Rhonda.
Speaker AAnd today I'm going to read you.
Speaker BSomething else from Roomie.
Speaker BYes, that's right.
Speaker BI love Roomie so.
Speaker BAnd I think it's good that you and I read together some poetry every month so that we together remember that poetry is the language of the soul and that it says things that we can't, you know, so many times we don't have the words for, but poetry.
Speaker AGives us the words.
Speaker BSo today I'm going to read something from Rumi.
Speaker BThe one thing you must do.
Speaker BThe one thing that you must do.
Speaker AThere is one thing in this world which you must never forget to do.
Speaker AIf you forget everything else and not this, there is nothing to worry about.
Speaker ABut if you remember everything else and forget this, then you will have done nothing in your life.
Speaker AIt is as if a king has sent you to some country to do a task and you perform a hundred other services, but not the one he sent you to do.
Speaker ASo human beings come into the world to do particular work.
Speaker AThat work is the purpose, and each is specific to the person.
Speaker AIf you don't do it, it's as though a knife of the finest tempering were nailed into a wall to hang things on for a penny.
Speaker AAn iron nail could be bought to serve for that.
Speaker ARemember the deep root of your being, the presence of your lord.
Speaker AGive your life to the one who already owns your breath and your moments.
Speaker AIf you don't, you will be like the little one who takes a precious dagger and hammers it into his kitchen wall for a peg to hold his dipper gourd.
Speaker AYou'll be wasting valuable ness and foolishly ignoring your dignity and your purpose.
Speaker BThe one thing you must do.
Speaker BThe one thing that you must do.
Speaker AThere's one thing in this world which you must never forget to do.
Speaker AIf you forget everything else and not this, well, there's nothing to worry about.
Speaker ABut if you remember everything else and forget this, then you will have done nothing in your life.
