This is my command, love each other. John 15 verses 17. Simple, a very short verse in the Bible. God is saying love each other. How do you show your love? Love is a verb. I have said that so many times. You can't just tell me that you love me. You show me you love me through your actions.
You show me you love me through your consistency, showing up for me, not using harmful words, not withdrawing your love for me or withdrawing yourself from me. That's how you show someone you love them. And God said we are to love each other. And at times there are people in our lives that are hard to love. I have people in my life that are hard to love.
And just because I love them doesn't mean I continue to allow them to hurt me. You can love somebody from a distance. You can love somebody and decide that at this time in your life, you don't want to have a relationship with them.
Love is not something that should be weaponized. Someone should not say, you loved me, then you would do this. That is not how love shows up.
Love is patient, it's kind, it's gentle, it's peaceful, it's long suffering. Love exhibits self-control. So show that person in your life that you love them, praying as God to soften your heart so that you can love that person that hurts you, that neglected you, that...

even abused you. Ask God to show you how to love those people.
But remember, loving someone does not mean that you will allow them to continue hurting you, putting you down, ignoring you, making you feel small. Our only job is to do what God has commanded us to do. He said love each other, period. He did not say get back in relationship with this person. Allow them to continue to hurt you.
allow them to reject you, them to do, no, just love.
