Speaker BHello and welcome to the Elevated Edit Podcast.
Speaker BI promised I would pack a punch in these Friday short and sweet episodes and today definitely delivers.
Speaker BToday we are Talking about the 15 minute morning routine for busy seasons.
Speaker BWe often think morning routines need to be dramatic, drawn out rituals.
Speaker BBut here is the truth.
Speaker BA simple 15 minute routine can set the tone for your entire day, especially during busy seasons.
Speaker BChristmas, I feel like January, we are so busy.
Speaker BWe are giving a lot of ourselves to other people, which is exactly what the holiday season is for.
Speaker BBut we can't show up as our best selves if we are not pouring into our own cup.
Speaker BAnd for me, pouring into my cup first thing in the morning sets up the tone for my entire day.
Speaker BIt allows me to show up as my best self and I can show up better for other people when I've poured into my cup first.
Speaker BAnd this isn't about perfection.
Speaker BIt's about building small, consistent habits that wake up your body and your mind, that help you feel aligned and that boost your confidence to take on the day.
Speaker BAnd I want to preface this by saying you don't have to follow this exact 15 minute routine if you want to change some of the things out.
Speaker BIf you want to just do two of them.
Speaker BIf you want to figure out what works for you, do that.
Speaker BBut maybe use this as a starting point.
Speaker BUse this as something that you can brainstorm and add on to.
Speaker BBut if I only had 15 minutes to do a quick morning routine, these are the three things that I would do.
Speaker BSo first five minutes I would journal.
Speaker BStart by jotting down a few thoughts.
Speaker BAnd this doesn't need to be anything profound.
Speaker BYou can write down what you're grateful for, you can write down your top priorities for the day, or you can just write down a simple affirmation.
Speaker BThe goal here is to clear your mind and set an intentional tone for the day.
Speaker BAnd if I only have a few minutes, I love this one prompt and that prompt is what's one thing I can do today to move closer to my goals.
Speaker BI feel like this prompt is very proactive and it accomplishes a lot of different things.
Speaker BA It reminds you of what your goal and your mission is so it keeps you very laser focused and b it allows you to be proactive versus Reactive.
Speaker BI feel like giving back is amazing and pouring into others is great, but when we are in that season, our calendars become very reactive.
Speaker BWe are often reacting to other people's problems.
Speaker BWe are reacting to other people's issues.
Speaker BAnd if we are being reactive, our calendar can get very hectic and can get very overwhelming.
Speaker BAnd this prompt can really remind you to be proactive, to look ahead, to pencil in some time to bring yourself joy, to pencil in some time to bring yourself clarity.
Speaker BAnd I love this prompt because you can go a lot of different ways with it.
Speaker BIt can really encompass a lot of Things.
Speaker BBut use ChatGPT to help you cope with some different prompts.
Speaker BKeep a couple different prompts saved in a note on your phone and that way if you only have a few minutes, you can journal and just kind of get your mind going, wake your brain up and set the TO tone for your day.
Speaker BNext five minutes you're going to listen to a podcast.
Speaker BThere are a ton of podcasters who do episodes even shorter than my Friday Short and sweet episodes.
Speaker BLauren Bostic has the Skinny Confidential podcast, but she also does a podcast called the Morning Quickie and she will take clips from her long podcast episodes and she'll turn them into four or five minute episodes.
Speaker BRyan Holiday he also does a great really short podcast.
Speaker BThey're three to four minutes and I know exactly how long some of them are because I time my cold shower with them and they really pack a punch.
Speaker BIf you don't want to listen to a short episode, get really into an audiobook.
Speaker BListen to five minutes a day.
Speaker BYou would be surprised how many books that you can read in a year.
Speaker BIf you are listening to five minutes every single morning, do something inspirational.
Speaker BListen to a song you really like.
Speaker BListen to something that gets you in a high energy mood.
Speaker BDon't listen to five minutes of TikTok.
Speaker BDon't listen to five minutes of Reels.
Speaker BAnd whatever you do, don't listen to five minutes of the flipping news because fear sells and the media wants you to be scared.
Speaker BBecause they can sell you things and they can sell you an agenda.
Speaker BI have friends that start off the day with the news every single morning and then they wonder why they're constantly in a bad mood.
Speaker BThey wonder why they're constantly looking for problems.
Speaker BThey're constantly looking for issues.
Speaker BIt's because they have started their day off on a really negative foot.
Speaker BSo take five minutes and listen to something that lights you up, that energizes you, that inspires you, whatever that looks like.
Speaker BPut something good into your brain and wake your brain up in a fun, energetic, inspirational way.
Speaker BLast five minutes, Move or Stretch.
Speaker BThis isn't going to be about an intense workout.
Speaker BJust get your body moving, breathing, stretch, do a few yoga poses, or take a quick walk around your home.
Speaker BAnd like I said, this doesn't need to be anything major.
Speaker BIf I only have a few minutes, I'll walk up and down my driveway a couple of times just to get my body moving.
Speaker BBecause movement gets your blood flowing, it wakes you up, and it helps you feel more energized.
Speaker BAnd you might be asking yourself, what is the point of doing any of this?
Speaker BWhat is the point of only doing five minutes of a couple things?
Speaker BI might as well just skip it.
Speaker BSleep five minutes longer, whatever it is.
Speaker BBut habits build confidence.
Speaker BWhen you stick to a small, consistent routine, you start to see yourself as someone who shows up.
Speaker BYou start to see yourself as someone who does what they say they'll do.
Speaker BAnd that confidence carries into everything else you do for the rest of your day.
Speaker BYou want to start small, you want to build momentum.
Speaker BThis isn't going to be about having a perfect routine.
Speaker BIt's about showing up for yourself.
Speaker BOnce you've built the habit, then you can expand on it later.
Speaker BThat's exactly what I did.
Speaker BI started off with a 15 to 20 minute morning routine.
Speaker BNow I don't tell a lot of people about my morning routine because it kind of makes me sound insane.
Speaker BI love getting up at 4 or 4:30 in the morning and I love having a two hour morning routine.
Speaker BIt is very structured, it is very in depth, it's very intense.
Speaker BBut for me, that time is very quiet.
Speaker BThe world is not awake yet, nobody needs me and I can really take the time to focus on myself and my goals and learn and read and dig deep and journal.
Speaker BAnd if you have a goal of maybe having a longer morning routine at some point, implement the small habit of 15 minutes.
Speaker BAnd then, you know, next week you might say, okay, I really enjoy journaling, so I'm going to do 10 minutes of journaling.
Speaker BOr I really enjoyed my five minute walk, I'm going to do a 20 minute walk.
Speaker BThe goal is to align yourself, not overwhelm yourself.
Speaker BEven in the busiest seasons, this quick morning routine ensures that you're starting the day off on the right foot, both mentally and physically.
Speaker BI want you to remember, 15 minute morning routine might not seem like much, but it can create huge momentum.
Speaker BIt's about proving to yourself that you're consistent and that you're capable.
Speaker BSo tomorrow, I want you to try this simple routine, or some iteration of it.
Speaker BFive minutes of journaling, five minutes of a podcast, and five minutes of movement.
Speaker BAnd then I want you to let me know how it feels by tagging me on Instagram.
Speaker BTake a quick pic of some part of your morning routine, put it on your stories and tag me.
Speaker BI want to encourage you.
Speaker BI want to cheer you on.
Speaker BI want to share with my audience so that they can see you and you can inspire them.
Speaker BYou can inspire your friends.
Speaker BI want this to be a whole movement so that people know we don't have to be doing these huge, dramatic morning routines.
Speaker BWe can pack a punch in 15 minutes.
Speaker BI hope that you got something out of this episode.
Speaker BI hope it inspired you, and I will see you in the next episode.
