A dangerous cold wave continues today from the Plains to the east coast with the National Weather Service keeping widespread extreme cold warnings and cold weather advisories in effect.

Expect wind chills well below zero in many areas and slick travel where ice lingers.

A national Live desk counts more than half a million customers without power early this morning as utilities work restorations and officials attribute dozens of deaths to the storm.

For situational awareness, USGS reports numerous small earthquakes over the past day with no major damaging events in the U.S. tropical Outlook is quiet.

There are no active cyclones in the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific during the off season.

Alaska the eastern Alaska Range is under a winter storm warning from noon today to 3am Wednesday with heavy snow and blowing snow expected along the Richardson highway between MP 202 and 224, including Trim's camp.

Travel can become difficult with low visibility.

A broader suite of winter headlines remains in effect across interior zones.

Watch for rapid changes and drifting snow on exposed routes.

Southern California faces cold surf and marine hazards today.

A beach hazards statement and small craft advisory highlight dangerous rip currents and elevated seas with patchy, dense fog, reducing visibility at times.

Inland Florida Arctic air drives freeze warnings and cold weather advisories across north and central Florida today and tonight with wind chills in the teens and twenties along the Nature coast and twenties to thirties farther south.

Hazardous boating continues with a small craft advisory and sees up to around 10 to 13ft in the Gulf Stream off the Space coast this morning.

Northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania remain under dangerous cold this morning.

NWS Cleveland briefs an extreme cold warning through 11am with wind chills to negative 27 degrees Fahrenheit.

Light snow of 1 to 2 inches today, highest in the snow belt and a cold weather advisory tonight into Wednesday.

Pennsylvania officials responded to multiple snowslides that buried Coxton Road in Duria, Luzerne County Sunday.

The roadway was later cleared but remained narrowed by drifts.

Avoid the area if new slides recur and use caution on local roads.

Extreme cold advisories continue in parts of the state today.

Texas Extreme cold warnings and cold advisories persist across Texas this morning.

Black ice and refreeze keep travel hazardous, especially on untreated roads.

NWS notes wind chills from negative 5°F to the teens and cautions for lingering slick spots as as temps rise above freezing later.

The state's disaster declaration for the winter storm was expanded on Sunday to 219 counties with warming centers operating statewide.

All other states have no significant updates in the last 24 hours.
