Sarah Richardson: I'm Sarah Richardson. Today I'm delighted to welcome back a longtime friend and supporter of this week Health, Michael Robinson, vice President Healthcare Solutions Americas from Omnissa.
Michael, it's so great to have you here,
Michael Robinson : I enjoy working with this Week Health, and you're one of my favorites at this week, health. So it's my pleasure to be here. Thank you for making time for.
Sarah Richardson: Of course, and Omnissa hosting the Omnissa one summit in Las Vegas, September 15th through the 17th.
We're excited to dive into what that means for technologists and healthcare innovation. But before we get there, Michael, not everyone is as familiar with the backstory [00:01:00] on Omnissa. Yeah. When and why it became a spinoff of VMware and user computing division and what OMNISCI stands for today.
Michael Robinson : Thanks for the opportunity to share that.
A little over a year that we started this journey as an independent company. So we spun off from a larger organization. We were known as the end user computing division within VMware slash Broadcom. And we now are independent mode and free to innovate and to bring great things to the market.
So we're excited about the opportunity. We're backed by KKR as our private equity investor in the business. And again, we're a sizable organization and a market leader as well, so we have over 26,000 customers globally, 4,000 employees. We're about nearly $2 billion in annual recurring revenue as well.
So significant company, and we're really excited about, having the freedom to bring innovation to market as well.

Sarah Richardson: think every healthcare leader would love to say, and our spinoff has $2 billion [00:02:00] in revenue, 26,000 clients and all these employees. Tell us a bit though about the mission that Omnissa is on now and how you describe core solutions to your clients today.
Michael Robinson : Yeah, so I'll take it at a macro level. It's a pretty simple solution. Basically we believe that. The way that work is done today has changed significantly post pandemic. So we wanna make sure that we're empowering workers specifically to work smarter, seamlessly and securely from anywhere.
Our vision is to create an autonomous workspace where basically it's self configuring, self-healing, and self securing. Sounds like healthcare a little bit, right? So as we go there to meet the evolving needs of businesses and specifically, we'll talk a little bit more about what that means for healthcare

Sarah Richardson: course. And how have you maintained momentum during the transition? I mean, yes, you have all these clients, but there's still a space of, the team is this big, this is our geography, this is who we go after. How has all of that balanced out in this past year?
Michael Robinson : Yeah, so two things that I would say. One is we believe innovation is a core driver.
Of how we do [00:03:00] that. And so we continue to bring innovations to the market and, we look at how we do that faster and dream bigger as well. And so there are a lot of things that we do currently around, Martin architecture for Workspace One, our UEM product extended support for Windows 365 and Amazon Workspaces core advanced AI solutions.
Through what we call Omni as well. And then we have over 50 million devices. Under management that gives us AI insights as well. So continuing to figure out how we bring innovation to market. And then in the second is building trust and partnerships.
So, more and more customers now have invested in us as a full platform. Strategic partnerships with, industry leaders like Epic, IGEL, Nutanix, CrowdStrike, and others, giving us more reach and flexibility. And then, we just newly launched and on this a partner program as well, so expanding the partner ecosystem to even bring more innovation.
And we'll talk a little bit about the solution [00:04:00] offerings that we have for healthcare specifically, but a lot of that would not happen without those partners.
Sarah Richardson: You do prioritize healthcare technology in terms of your ability to dig deep into that vertical. What's unique about your approach that aligns so well to healthcare technologists needs?
Michael Robinson : Yeah, we kind of start with the priority of basically provide our organization, so things like embracing, quadruple aim mandate as well. So making sure that. Our solution offerings mapped to that security resilience is another one. Improving operating margin. We know that most health systems today are operating, at a deficit or very small margins.
And, the changes in Medicaid and Medicare impact their ability to invest as well. So we're trying to be aligned with that. And then m and a accelerator, still a lot of m and a going on. I think I saw this week Health article this week about, the pace of m and a continuing to grow.
Clinician satisfaction is another driver. So all of the offerings that we have kind of map back to those priorities from a healthcare perspective. And then, the solution offerings [00:05:00] we have like endpoint optimization, always on point of care roaming clinical desktop ITSM integration. Align back to those key priorities for health systems,
Sarah Richardson: which is why it's so important for them to attend Omnissa one.
And I wanna talk about that with you. What the summit's meant to be. Why should Healthcare Technologists plan to attend?
Michael Robinson : If you look at Omnissa one we have a very focused healthcare track. And so a lot of the programs and content. There will be healthcare specific, so we're very excited about that.
We'll have a healthcare birds of a feather. We'll talk about some successes around Citrix to Omnissa migrations. We hopefully we'll highlight some of the work that we've done around Epic partnership as well. So there are a lot of good things. We have an executive forum and I think maybe a third of the registrants
are healthcare organizations as well. So it's a very curated forum for C-level executives and again, we're seeing a lot of great interest from healthcare [00:06:00] organizations.
Sarah Richardson: What do you believe will be the key message or breakout theme that will resonate most with people who attend Omnissa One this year?
Michael Robinson : Yeah, that, that's a great question. So basically we wanna make sure that we're looking at, how we service our customers. We believe that. We are the single largest platform to really address the vision that I articulated earlier. And so we wanna make sure that our customers are fully versed in.
As you said, not everyone is familiar with our mission and what we do, but. We have a fully integrated platform that, addresses a $35 billion market opportunity as well. So when you talk about UEM you talk about virtual desktops, you talk about app publishing, security, we are the only company that has that full integrated platform to address

Sarah Richardson: And as you think about how you set up that strategic vision, what people need to be planning for the next two or three years, which in healthcare today is tougher than ever. I mean, we don't really know, sometimes what the next six months may [00:07:00] hold for us. Right. But when you think about what your vision will look like for the next couple of years, especially in healthcare, what is that storyboard?
Michael Robinson : Yeah, so again, as I mentioned earlier, our alignment to the goals and needs of health systems is really our key priorities. So making sure that solutions that we bring, whether they're, wholly Omnissa centric, or we include partners or third party content in that as well. It's really important that we continue to keep a pulse on, what health systems are focused on, where their priorities lie and how we best align to those priorities.
Just a quick plug for this week, health, but, the healthcare professional certification program, we're sending some folks through that and I think that helps us continue to make sure that our sellers are aligned and understand the needs of technical decision makers within health

Sarah Richardson: It's always a win with Omnissa. I mean, you've been a supporter of ours since the very, very beginning. Like going back to when Bill was like, Hey, I'm gonna set up a podcast, for my home office. All the way through, and I will share this. Your colleagues that are in [00:08:00] our HCSP program are exceptionally engaged and very curious about the content and how to apply it.
Always bringing forward ideas and conversations. So thank you for sending them through it and for being a part of it, because that just strengthens the fabric of what it is we're all doing each day to bring our customers, our clients, healthcare together. And thank you for just being a part of it.
Michael Robinson : Yeah. As Bill says, we wanna improve healthcare one conversation at a time. And so we wanna be a part of that. We wanna be a thought leader, and we wanna make sure that, we're aligned with organizations that have that vision

Sarah Richardson: Okay. What is a tech trend you are following closely right now?
Michael Robinson : So I'm not gonna say generative AI because everybody says that. But it is important and I think we should be focused on how that changes the healthcare landscape. We talk about ambient and those kinds of things, but I would say for us because our portfolio is so broad, we not [00:09:00] just work with providers, we work with medical devices, life sciences company as well.
And so the Internet of things is a trend and virtual hospitals is a trend that we're following closely. And then we work with, some of the largest medical devices and we have, I think across those probably a million devices under management. So you're talking about heart implants, those kinds of things that I think that market will grow as well and become.
More intuitive based on ai. So those are I guess, a combined trend that I'm looking at as well in

Sarah Richardson: Well, thank you for layering in the supporting technologies that people are excited about as part of the general, like strategic platform. 'cause to your point, all of these things will continue to accelerate as our populations age.
And there's in some cases, fewer caregivers to provide that care. Omnissa will be right by your side throughout that journey.
Michael Robinson : Yes.
Sarah Richardson: And you are a luminary. You're a little bit of everywhere all the time. People look to you for all aspects of healthcare. So what do you do to recharge on your downtime?
Michael Robinson : Wow. That's a great question. So, what I would say [00:10:00] now is I'm actually sitting in Martha's Vineyard. We come up every summer and we spend time here. And my wife and I like to do things like travel and live music They kind of,
come together for us. So we travel and seek out live music.
So, but probably like you, a little bit of a workaholic. So it's hard for me to really take downtime and recharge. But those are two things that my wife and
