Chelsey Donn:

Oh,

Trey Gerrald:

Hi listeners.

Trey Gerrald:

Welcome to Review That Review.

Trey Gerrald:

You are listening to the podcast dedicated to reviewing

Chelsey Donn:

Reviews!

Chelsey Donn:

We're just like Siskel and Ebert only instead of reviewing cinematic masterpieces, we

Trey Gerrald:

that is Chelsey Donn.

Chelsey Donn:

And that is Trey Gerrald.

Trey Gerrald:

And us together are

VOICEOVER:

Review Queen.

Trey Gerrald:

To support our show while getting bonus exclusive content, including our

Trey Gerrald:

How are you Chelsey?

Chelsey Donn:

I was going to say so many awards, all already won.

Chelsey Donn:

It's hard to even know which one we're referencing, know?

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

My week was good.

Chelsey Donn:

Goldie got spade.

Chelsey Donn:

Shout out to Bob Barker, doing our part to control the animal population.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

She handled it very well.

Trey Gerrald:

How was that experience for you?

Chelsey Donn:

For me, it was very emotional, you know, for babies, like

Chelsey Donn:

Like she's thank goodness.

Chelsey Donn:

Not going to all the woods.

Chelsey Donn:

She bounced back very well.

Chelsey Donn:

And she's back to driving me insane as usual.

Chelsey Donn:

So all good there.

Chelsey Donn:

How's your week going?

Trey Gerrald:

I'm having a good week.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, my life is becoming very

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

different kinds of cars.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause I'm going to pull the plug the end of this month.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to try to get.

Trey Gerrald:

Into the Memorial day savings extravaganza.

Trey Gerrald:

And

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Fair.

Trey Gerrald:

using all this time to save money And get ready

Chelsey Donn:

you've had a little distance from the CRI

Trey Gerrald:

from that cry.

Trey Gerrald:

And I've, I've decided to choose a different brand

Chelsey Donn:

start.

Chelsey Donn:

Fresh start fresh it's yeah, there's gotta be an eclipse or a full moon or something coming

Chelsey Donn:

up.

Chelsey Donn:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

part of me that feels like I can't choose that brand.

Trey Gerrald:

And that car I wanted originally, like someone has to

Chelsey Donn:

It's

Trey Gerrald:

has to be punished other than

Chelsey Donn:

someone needs be held accountable.

Chelsey Donn:

Might as well be the car company.

Chelsey Donn:

I listen, I approve.

Chelsey Donn:

I think you should always shop around there's.

Chelsey Donn:

There's always lots of options out there and I'm proud of you for willingly putting yourself

Trey Gerrald:

you.

Trey Gerrald:

And I

Trey Gerrald:

I actually received that with true sincerity, even though I know it is

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, but it's true.

Trey Gerrald:

like, you know, what, it's part of life growing pains.

Chelsey Donn:

Growing pans.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Speaking of growing pans, do you have a complaint that you want to launch this week?

Trey Gerrald:

I do.

Trey Gerrald:

This week.

Trey Gerrald:

I really need to

VOICEOVER:

Lodge A Complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

against a phenomenon that has occurred to me many times.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know if occurred to you, but you pick up your cup of your drink.

Trey Gerrald:

You take us up.

Trey Gerrald:

How, what, because you thought it was Sprite, but it's actually water

Chelsey Donn:

yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

iced tea, it's actually co.

Chelsey Donn:

Um,

Trey Gerrald:

That sensation where you feel like, you know, the taste

Chelsey Donn:

surprise attack.

Trey Gerrald:

in actuality It's something completely different.

Trey Gerrald:

Has that ever happened to you?

Chelsey Donn:

It's definitely happened.

Chelsey Donn:

It's extremely jarring.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, it's very disoriented because it's like your brain in preparation

Chelsey Donn:

So when that response is matte with something, you know, just different than the anticipated, A'.

Chelsey Donn:

very jarring.

Trey Gerrald:

It is a moment of like reality those times that I've had this moment, I really am.

Trey Gerrald:

So off-kilter, it really throws me off.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I aim to do with all of my acting.

Chelsey Donn:

Um, really like take them down a road and let them expect something.

Chelsey Donn:

And then just flip the script.

Trey Gerrald:

That's why I only accept roles that are titled gay man, so that when they look at

Trey Gerrald:

So as soon as I speak, they're just really thrown off because I'm so straight.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Well this much me now.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's my complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

If anyone else has been there, call in and tell us about it.

Trey Gerrald:

Were you at your rehearsal dinner with your in-laws that you don't like?

Trey Gerrald:

Like, tell me what's the backstory.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, what would you like to lodge a complaint against today?

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you for asking Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

I have beef.

Chelsey Donn:

I got beef.

Chelsey Donn:

I do.

Chelsey Donn:

I have beef with loud doors.

Chelsey Donn:

And when I say loud doors, what I mean is

Trey Gerrald:

slamming.

Chelsey Donn:

yeah, but like, you know how doors have the capacity to have that?

Chelsey Donn:

Like slow, soft, close.

Chelsey Donn:

should have a slow close, because some doors, especially heavy doors, they really leave a slam.

Chelsey Donn:

And I find, you know, that can kind of speak for you in a way that's

Chelsey Donn:

Like.

Chelsey Donn:

If you're talking to somebody and then you're like, bye, see you later.

Chelsey Donn:

And then you go out the door and it slams behind you.

Chelsey Donn:

And you didn't know that it was allowed door that could leave the person saying what a

Chelsey Donn:

And I just think it's jarring.

Chelsey Donn:

I have a lot of anxiety.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know if the door people are trying to kill me.

Chelsey Donn:

All doors should be soft, closing doors and enough.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, have you ever been shucking up by allowed door that you weren't expecting?

Trey Gerrald:

I have been a person that has had to open the door back and be like, I'm so sorry.

Trey Gerrald:

I didn't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

I am that person,

Chelsey Donn:

me too,

Trey Gerrald:

my first thought about the slow close, obviously kitchen cabinet.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like, that's such a

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Trey Gerrald:

invention,

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, the best.

Trey Gerrald:

my brain immediately goes to scream.

Trey Gerrald:

And if real doors were soft, close, and you were being chased by the killer, and

Chelsey Donn:

That would actually be funny for a scary movie, 11,

Trey Gerrald:

Or like as like, like an 11 year old and you're like being sent to time out and you're

Trey Gerrald:

And it's like, you

Chelsey Donn:

boom.

Trey Gerrald:

like, a really slow class.

Trey Gerrald:

That'd be really funny,

Chelsey Donn:

would be really funny, but like, I hate that sound like

Chelsey Donn:

Ugh.

Trey Gerrald:

metal doors onto

Trey Gerrald:

you know, like in school, I always think of schools, but it's like commercial buildings where

Chelsey Donn:

Yep.

Trey Gerrald:

doors, but there's like a beam right.

Trey Gerrald:

Smack

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, yes,

Trey Gerrald:

Those are so loud.

Trey Gerrald:

It makes me think of gym class.

Chelsey Donn:

yes.

Chelsey Donn:

And if you don't, if you know, you can prepare, but if you don't know it's,

Chelsey Donn:

You know, like that's what it feels

Chelsey Donn:

like.

Trey Gerrald:

I think, um, if, if we weren't present to this prior, I think

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

on this podcast today's complainants that we are control freaks, and we like.

Trey Gerrald:

to know the outcome

Chelsey Donn:

yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Very much.

Trey Gerrald:

occurs.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

outcomes, should we

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

online reviews?

Chelsey Donn:

Please.

Chelsey Donn:

I would love that as you know, we are your trustee Review!

Chelsey Donn:

Queens.

Chelsey Donn:

We each bring in a review from the internet that we feel needs to be.

Trey Gerrald:

We read you the Review!

Trey Gerrald:

break it down and rate the impact of the review on a scale from zero to five crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

It's a very Regal process that we call.

VOICEOVER:

Assess That Kvetch

Chelsey Donn:

And Trey, you are taken away.

Chelsey Donn:

RQT

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So today I thought I would channel some fun and I am bringing in a four star review

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

for the card game against humanity.

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, oh,

Chelsey Donn:

okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Four stars though.

Chelsey Donn:

I have played.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, we'll talk about after this is written by Don.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

And Donna's subject is fun game, but too many words to look up.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, God.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

This is a verified purchase and it was written December 21st, 2015.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we go.

Trey Gerrald:

This game was All the buzz and I have played it a couple of times at parties.

Trey Gerrald:

And I finally decided to buy my very own box of cards against humanity.

Trey Gerrald:

The game is messed up, it is absolutely hilarious.

Trey Gerrald:

Although I think the game is kind of hit and miss not everyone really gets into it and not because

Trey Gerrald:

Because there are a lot of words that are not in people's regular vocabulary.

Trey Gerrald:

So when someone plays a card no one knows a words, definition, it kind of

Trey Gerrald:

Overall, I do like the game, but you've got to get right.

Trey Gerrald:

crowd of people to play, to make it fun and interest.

Trey Gerrald:

I have played it with people what just laughed the whole time and played it with people where

Trey Gerrald:

I like the game, I don't like how I have to pull out my dictionary app to

Trey Gerrald:

And if it is a funny card, it doesn't get chosen because people don't

Trey Gerrald:

If they come across something, they don't know the definition of guests,

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Donna mama Mia.

Trey Gerrald:

Two people found this helpful.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I think there were some interesting things in Donna's Review!

Chelsey Donn:

I liked that she described cards against humanity as messed up, but hilarious.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause I that's like a really good synopsis of the game.

Chelsey Donn:

Like it is it's messed up, but it's funny.

Chelsey Donn:

I think Donna lost me a little bit is so I played cards against humanity.

Chelsey Donn:

I can't remember there being a lot of words that I didn't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Do you remember that?

Trey Gerrald:

So I picked this Review!

Trey Gerrald:

because I found a bunch of reviews really split down the middle about like,

Trey Gerrald:

I'm calling my pastor and

Chelsey Donn:

Oh God.

Trey Gerrald:

is the best thing in the world.

Trey Gerrald:

It's so funny.

Trey Gerrald:

this, this one really stood out because Donna talks about.

Trey Gerrald:

Their vocabulary

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

I own two sets of cards against humanity.

Trey Gerrald:

Actually.

Trey Gerrald:

I bought one for my sister.

Trey Gerrald:

I bought the expansion packs.

Trey Gerrald:

I bought the Jewish expansion

Chelsey Donn:

it.

Trey Gerrald:

the pride expansion packs.

Trey Gerrald:

So I know a lot about this game

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

there are oftentimes where I will get a car.

Trey Gerrald:

And it.

Trey Gerrald:

feels very niche or it feels very like of 2017,

Chelsey Donn:

sure.

Trey Gerrald:

pop.

Trey Gerrald:

So there are times I don't know that it would be like a, like an adjective that I didn't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm like, what is she talking about?

Chelsey Donn:

Like a mercan

Chelsey Donn:

like, like, it

Trey Gerrald:

unsure of what it is.

Trey Gerrald:

They're looking up in the dictionary, but

Chelsey Donn:

right?

Trey Gerrald:

some times there are like, pop culture or they're celebrities, or

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

that maybe not everyone would know, it seems possible to me.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know if it's probable

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know how to say the following without throwing shade at Donna.

Chelsey Donn:

So I'm going to try to figure this out.

Chelsey Donn:

I

Chelsey Donn:

feel like I'm thinking that Donna is.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll say the French vanilla of the, of like her friend group.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that Donna really falls in the middle here.

Chelsey Donn:

And she has like a lot of friends that are like, Vanessa.

Chelsey Donn:

She is French vanilla.

Chelsey Donn:

She has a lot of friends that are like vanilla, vanilla.

Chelsey Donn:

And then she's like the French vanilla of the vanilla bananas.

Chelsey Donn:

Or she has a lot of friends that are like Rocky road and, you know, like very.

Chelsey Donn:

Fun and effervescent.

Chelsey Donn:

And she's the vanilla of that group.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I think she falls somewhere in the middle because it's interesting to me that it

Chelsey Donn:

But when Donna is around her other group of friends where she has to sort of lead, it's not as

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I do.

Trey Gerrald:

There's two things I want to say about that comment.

Trey Gerrald:

I do.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe Donna's too in their head when they're the one hosting the

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

That's what I'm saying,

Trey Gerrald:

but I also have experienced really Rawkus rounds with certain group of

Chelsey Donn:

right?

Trey Gerrald:

sort of like, you know,

Chelsey Donn:

Ma

Trey Gerrald:

of funny.

Chelsey Donn:

yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I also think that sometimes it'll be like, uh, sexual euphemisms that

Trey Gerrald:

deduce like a rusty trombone.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I don't know what that is, but I know it's some

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

maybe that happens, but

Chelsey Donn:

I also think that that's part of the game too, is like playing to whoever the judge is.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, if you're like, I don't really know what a rusty trombone is, but like

Chelsey Donn:

So she probably knows what it is then you want to throw it in during that round.

Trey Gerrald:

And that's what I was going to say is that sometimes the humor is found

Chelsey Donn:

Right,

Trey Gerrald:

completely mismatched,

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Trey Gerrald:

we like to play with a banana we just put in a random card and

Trey Gerrald:

And we've literally had rounds where the banana has

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause it's fun to see like, okay, what happens if we just throw a random card here?

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, is that when I've done that too?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, So like our roster here, do you think that Donna's

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

here?

Chelsey Donn:

I think there's value in the sense that they're pinning

Chelsey Donn:

They're warning you that, like, there might be some words that you don't know, which I

Chelsey Donn:

It was a little bit complainy for a four-star.

Trey Gerrald:

isn't that interesting?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

I'm not left with feeling of four stars.

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause it seems like this dictionary issue is almost a deal breaker for Donna.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like a really takes me out of it.

Trey Gerrald:

And honestly, I like the last sentence I think is so funny.

Trey Gerrald:

I guess I should extend my vocabulary

Chelsey Donn:

I know,

Trey Gerrald:

Donna, isn't happy about that, but I think that could be positive.

Trey Gerrald:

Someone could be like, oh, this is great.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I can learn vocabulary.

Chelsey Donn:

things.

Trey Gerrald:

There was also one really funny Review!, but it wasn't good for the show, but

Trey Gerrald:

that they

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, wow.

Chelsey Donn:

that's crazy.

Trey Gerrald:

spin on that.

Trey Gerrald:

Review!

Trey Gerrald:

that like, it's fun to play with them to see sides of them that they don't show

Trey Gerrald:

At least that's how I perceived.

Chelsey Donn:

I liked that she fasts up to the house rules.

Chelsey Donn:

I always, I always like know people's house rules, like the banana for you.

Chelsey Donn:

And she said that she does a house rule where she lets people swap out cards that they don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

So I thought that at least says that the game is adaptable to some

Chelsey Donn:

degree.

Trey Gerrald:

had, and I've had games like that as well.

Trey Gerrald:

Where then if you don't know it, you have to share it and say that you don't know what.

Chelsey Donn:

right, right.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Which is positive spinning here.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe Donna could take that on

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Trey Gerrald:

were a couple of spam spammer.

Chelsey Donn:

grammar,

Trey Gerrald:

a couple of spelling glitches in here.

Chelsey Donn:

not everyone into it was that.

Trey Gerrald:

And then also one very long run on sentence that was confusing

Trey Gerrald:

Like Donna really has presented.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe there's something that I'm not bringing to the table that.

Trey Gerrald:

the dictionary has to help me with.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't think they're being shady about the game.

Trey Gerrald:

I think they're actually saying like, it's hilarious and it's messed up.

Trey Gerrald:

It's four stars.

Trey Gerrald:

It's fun.

Trey Gerrald:

But if you just want to be having fun and not education, then maybe an sat prep class.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Although I don't know that these words would be on the SATs.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Anything else we should consider for Donna before we crown her?

Trey Gerrald:

No.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, do you think that other people have this experience?

Chelsey Donn:

I think some people might have this experience.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm just what I'm wrapping my head around as they go into crowning is the useful factor here.

Chelsey Donn:

under what circumstance is this helpful in deciding whether or

Chelsey Donn:

crown it.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

we go.

Trey Gerrald:

So Chelsey and I each have our own set of zero to five crown cards and an effort to

Trey Gerrald:

We will simultaneously reveal our ratings.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Two and a half crowns, two and a half

Chelsey Donn:

crowns up.

Trey Gerrald:

I meant to do that one.

Trey Gerrald:

I flipped to the.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey's holding up one and a half crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm holding up two and a half crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe I was kinder to Donna that I had.

Chelsey Donn:

I gave Donna props because I think that there are other donnas out there that might be a

Chelsey Donn:

And I think that if you are somebody.

Chelsey Donn:

That was a Dawna, so to speak, you might see yourself in Donna's experience and consider

Chelsey Donn:

I really couldn't give Donna any more than the two and a half, because I don't

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think we're going to sway that many people.

Chelsey Donn:

And it didn't really feel like a four-star review to me.

Chelsey Donn:

So for those reasons I gave the two and a half, why one and a half.

Trey Gerrald:

Wait, did you say mama Mia at the beginning of this?

Trey Gerrald:

Because that's the lead

Chelsey Donn:

Donna.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I hate you.

Chelsey Donn:

Why?

Chelsey Donn:

I thought it was so clever.

Chelsey Donn:

You didn't

Chelsey Donn:

get it.

Trey Gerrald:

on brand for me, and I didn't even get it until

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Chelsey Donn:

I love that.

Trey Gerrald:

okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So I said one and a half only because it.

Trey Gerrald:

doesn't make sense.

Trey Gerrald:

It's four stars.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't think this is really a problem.

Trey Gerrald:

I also agree, like there are probably people that don't live in the culture of the context

Trey Gerrald:

But I do think that the people that would want to experiment and learn are already in that idea

Trey Gerrald:

Like

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

a mind expanding experience,

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

a Donna's positivity

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

it four stars, even though it ultimately felt sort of negative.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's why I said one and a half because I appreciated the positive push,

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't think there's much value here other than like, It's

Trey Gerrald:

I just, I think it's all over the place.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's why I said one and a

Chelsey Donn:

Fair.

Chelsey Donn:

Totally agree.

Chelsey Donn:

Good.

Chelsey Donn:

Review!

Chelsey Donn:

track.

Trey Gerrald:

thank you.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe we could play cards against humanity one day on the live.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, I would like that.

Chelsey Donn:

Let us know if you're interested in playing cards against humanity with The Queens.

Chelsey Donn:

That could be fun.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, let's take a quick break.

Trey Gerrald:

And when we come back, we can get into Chelsey's.

Trey Gerrald:

Review!.

Chelsey Donn:

Yay.

Chelsey Donn:

Can't wait.

VOICEOVER:

Hold your crown.

VOICEOVER:

We'll be right back.

Trey Gerrald:

And it's game time or

Chelsey Donn:

Well,

Trey Gerrald:

spin on

Trey Gerrald:

' VOICEOVER: I don't feel like an icon.

Trey Gerrald:

Most

Trey Gerrald:

A'..

Chelsey Donn:

Are we keeping that take, okay, here's the deal?

Chelsey Donn:

Trey and I have each picked a rotten scathing, pithy One-Star-Zinger and with 30 seconds on

Trey Gerrald:

Just like port Merle shrimp.

Chelsey Donn:

Before the clock runs out.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, obviously, this is the Meryl-Go-Round.

Trey Gerrald:

I fumbled over my words.

Trey Gerrald:

going to span around.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, it's going to be

Trey Gerrald:

me what is your One-Star-Zinger today?

Chelsey Donn:

My One-Star-Zinger is from Google reviews.

Chelsey Donn:

It is a Google review of the Hollywood sign.

Chelsey Donn:

It is written by Darren am.

Chelsey Donn:

And the Review!

Chelsey Donn:

is it's only about one sixth as cool as it is big.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, it's a little reset

Chelsey Donn:

now.

Chelsey Donn:

Uh,

Trey Gerrald:

there.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Well then in that case, I'm going to strap you in

Chelsey Donn:

yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

a TMZ tour bus.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm having to shabu

Trey Gerrald:

haven't we done the Hollywood sign before

Chelsey Donn:

for sure.

Chelsey Donn:

But this is a newer VO.

Trey Gerrald:

Darren, wondering if I strapped you in on the TMZ.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh,

Chelsey Donn:

I think,

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to strap you

Chelsey Donn:

yes.

Trey Gerrald:

the Eiffel tower.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

Pointy.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh,

Chelsey Donn:

all right, here we go.

Trey Gerrald:

Are you

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

VOICEOVER:

Three, Two, One, GO!.

Trey Gerrald:

Ah,

Chelsey Donn:

It's wholly about one.

Chelsey Donn:

It is big.

Trey Gerrald:

sports announcer

Chelsey Donn:

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know that I would be able to give much variation, but

Trey Gerrald:

I, Hey, don't sell yourself

Chelsey Donn:

Aw, you.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey Donn:

You're the best.

Chelsey Donn:

Chelsey Donn:

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So today I have a one-star zinger from Yelp.

Trey Gerrald:

This is written by Andres

Chelsey Donn:

Um,

Trey Gerrald:

and for the restaurant El Pollo Loco.

Chelsey Donn:

oh, okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I've been there once and I loved it,

Chelsey Donn:

Okay,

Chelsey Donn:

great.

Trey Gerrald:

Andre said.

Trey Gerrald:

It's good.

Trey Gerrald:

If you want to be sick after eating it,

Chelsey Donn:

Um, okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, I guess with that in mind, I'm going to, I'm going to shop you into a trash can so that

Chelsey Donn:

Sorry.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you ready?

Chelsey Donn:

Trey Gerrald:

I am.

Chelsey Donn:

Chelsey Donn:

Get yourself.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, yes.

Chelsey Donn:

You're a street.

Chelsey Donn:

Urgent.

Chelsey Donn:

Get yourself all buckled in sheer trashcan.

Chelsey Donn:

Here we go.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm so grouchy.

Trey Gerrald:

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's start here.

Trey Gerrald:

We are rear back from That rousing game break, which Chelsey One, and Chelsey

Trey Gerrald:

of the week.

Trey Gerrald:

What have you selected?

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, I really was staying on theme today with LA Hollywood.

Chelsey Donn:

So my main Review!

Chelsey Donn:

today is actually for Hollywood Boulevard.

Chelsey Donn:

So the whole Boulevard, the whole thing.

Chelsey Donn:

This is a one dot TripAdvisor review written by travel PO 11.

Trey Gerrald:

Travel Poe 11 PO

Chelsey Donn:

I think it's like travel pole.

Chelsey Donn:

That's like how it looks, but it's one One,

Trey Gerrald:

is this a Telly's hubby?

Chelsey Donn:

travel pole

Trey Gerrald:

Winky tipsy LA LA.

Chelsey Donn:

PO could be it.

Chelsey Donn:

Got let's just go with travel pole 11.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Alright.

Chelsey Donn:

The subject is a mess.

Chelsey Donn:

Here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

When we have out of town guests, one of the places they want to see is Hollywood Boulevard.

Chelsey Donn:

Unfortunately, their vision of Hollywood Boulevard is non existent.

Chelsey Donn:

They will not casually stroll down the Boulevard and bump into movie stars and celebrities.

Chelsey Donn:

They will not be able to take pictures of their favorite actors and actresses

Chelsey Donn:

What they will find is a mass of bodies, crowding the street, a circus, a shit

Chelsey Donn:

There are so many people on the street.

Chelsey Donn:

You will see the snake until his head is up in your face.

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Hotdog carts in the middle of the sidewalk with hotdogs wrapped in

Chelsey Donn:

People screaming messages or songs into amplified equipment, men with their pants

Chelsey Donn:

Why I have no clue, many people dress like characters competing for your mother.

Chelsey Donn:

Just who is the person in that costume, hugging your child.

Chelsey Donn:

As you snap photo after photo for your memory book, you have no idea.

Chelsey Donn:

Anyone can put on a costume and take pictures with you and or your children.

Chelsey Donn:

Scary.

Chelsey Donn:

Forget, looking down the sidewalk to read the stars names.

Chelsey Donn:

If you try, he won't last long.

Chelsey Donn:

You'll bang into people.

Chelsey Donn:

Just try to get a picture of your favorite stars.

Chelsey Donn:

Star, the people we have taken, never go back.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, it's interesting because it just, mean, I don't disagree,

Trey Gerrald:

but I don't have the expectation.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I, I don't, I'm not surprised that it's crazy.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause it's a tourist trap.

Chelsey Donn:

I have a theory.

Trey Gerrald:

Tell me.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that travel PO 11 has written this review so that people who visit

Chelsey Donn:

Like, I wouldn't be shocked.

Chelsey Donn:

I haven't done my due diligence, but maybe a travel PO has like a whole list of

Chelsey Donn:

And before, you know, friends come in the future, he says, oh, take a look at my TripAdvisor.

Chelsey Donn:

I have a bunch of things.

Chelsey Donn:

Let me know what you want to do so that he can preempt this shit show.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause it is very similar to people wanting to go to times square.

Trey Gerrald:

yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

You know, when they go to New York and when you live there, you're

Trey Gerrald:

But I will tell you that even when David and I went to Palm bay, It's exactly

Chelsey Donn:

nightmare.

Trey Gerrald:

like being on Hollywood Boulevard, it's like tons of vendors, tons of people with

Trey Gerrald:

The first time I went to Los Angeles, I also went to Hollywood Boulevard because I thought holy cow.

Trey Gerrald:

like, there were people like with snakes and there were like, that didn't seem that surprising to me.

Trey Gerrald:

I will say.

Trey Gerrald:

How do I, like, it's not surprising to me that you might meet unsavory characters or

Trey Gerrald:

Like this isn't 1930s.

Trey Gerrald:

And like Marilyn Monroe was putting her hands on the cement.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

said like, yes, people are going to be around you and bumping around you.

Trey Gerrald:

And you're trying to take a picture of like Woody Allen star or

Chelsey Donn:

Oh God.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

in the middle of the sidewalk.

Trey Gerrald:

So even the design of the Hollywood walk of fame, The stars are in the middle

Chelsey Donn:

I've a walkway.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

you're no matter, you know, even if this was Disneyland, going

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Trey Gerrald:

agree.

Trey Gerrald:

It is hella populated.

Trey Gerrald:

I, I don't know that I would say shit show, but I would say, you know, this isn't pristine,

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Chelsey Donn:

They didn't spell out shit show completely, by the way they were,

Chelsey Donn:

they.

Trey Gerrald:

can I guess, was it, um, it a money sign for the.

Chelsey Donn:

No,

Trey Gerrald:

or a hashtag and per

Chelsey Donn:

it's S H dash dash T show show.

Trey Gerrald:

I do have a question.

Trey Gerrald:

Can anyone just put on a costume?

Trey Gerrald:

You don't have to have a permit.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't really know about that, but it doesn't seem like the regular, I

Chelsey Donn:

Cause some of them seem like they have very cheap costumes that they

Chelsey Donn:

and thrown on.

Trey Gerrald:

could just stroll up there.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I know

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I feel like worse comes to worse.

Chelsey Donn:

The police sort of shoo you away.

Chelsey Donn:

That's a risk that I think these people are willing to take.

Trey Gerrald:

right, but when it comes to a vendor, like you have to have a permit for that

Chelsey Donn:

But these people aren't vendors, they're like,

Trey Gerrald:

But they are asking for tips.

Chelsey Donn:

yeah, I don't, I don't really know

Chelsey Donn:

though, like yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

The rules on the bus.

Trey Gerrald:

that, really made me think of times square.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, that's fair, but it is similar.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like of course, I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean where I think there's value here is that, like you said, when you came to

Chelsey Donn:

Even though for me, living here for you living close to times square, we're sort

Chelsey Donn:

We got to go to Hollywood Boulevard and, and put our hands in the celeb.

Chelsey Donn:

Like there are going people that are going to want to do this.

Chelsey Donn:

And if there are people that are on the more naive side, I like.

Chelsey Donn:

That travel PO you know, got into details.

Chelsey Donn:

They really painted a picture here.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I get it.

Chelsey Donn:

You want to go, this is your plan.

Chelsey Donn:

Your plan is to go and take pictures with actors and actresses stars that you like, or

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Because people are also going to think that.

Chelsey Donn:

I think they addressed both of those things and also addressed.

Chelsey Donn:

This is what you're going to see.

Chelsey Donn:

You think you're going to see this.

Chelsey Donn:

You're not, you're going to see crowds.

Chelsey Donn:

You're going to see a PI, a Python guy.

Chelsey Donn:

You're going to see street meat.

Chelsey Donn:

You're going to see unsavory characters.

Chelsey Donn:

However you want to classify it.

Chelsey Donn:

You know that it's not the safest that you're going to feel a bit unsafe.

Chelsey Donn:

So if with all of that in mind, you're still like, it's still really important to me to

Chelsey Donn:

Go for it, but at least, you know what you're getting yourself into.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, that's a good point.

Trey Gerrald:

I think it's probably just the execution of it that I, I disagree with.

Trey Gerrald:

I like, I think you could be really honest about what the reality is.

Trey Gerrald:

And I think the color of this Review!

Trey Gerrald:

feels a little snarky a little like angry kind of like, I, I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

It feels emotional.

Trey Gerrald:

It feels like there's an emotion here.

Trey Gerrald:

It feels like travel.

Trey Gerrald:

Is like, has an opinion about how this is,

Chelsey Donn:

which I got,

Trey Gerrald:

The, the spelling, I feel like there was a

Chelsey Donn:

there were a couple, so

Trey Gerrald:

that PO could have used the television screen inside of the Teletubby

Trey Gerrald:

I think that's what we're

Chelsey Donn:

I think they would have allowed him to hop on the tele toppy wifi to maybe

Chelsey Donn:

set up and ready.

Trey Gerrald:

I absolutely think that this is going to be a common experience.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, I absolutely agree.

Trey Gerrald:

It's only the emotion that I think might be a little fluky, but I agree with you.

Trey Gerrald:

I think like I'm, I received this from a cynical point of view, and I think there might

Trey Gerrald:

know, black and white films

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Trey Gerrald:

Boulevard.

Chelsey Donn:

That being said, rip that being said with the mention of the, the,

Trey Gerrald:

I think calling it a shit show.

Trey Gerrald:

Isn't funny.

Trey Gerrald:

I think that's like emotional.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

That's how it's occurring to me.

Trey Gerrald:

didn't really think it was that funny.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't, I don't know why I felt defensive.

Chelsey Donn:

see.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know why, because I have no attachment, but I guess I just, I,

Chelsey Donn:

Ryan,

Chelsey Donn:

but there might be people that would add.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

And I appreciate you pointing.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that.

Chelsey Donn:

There was an attempt at, at humor, I think being so emotional, I just think we got

Chelsey Donn:

Because I think the fact that in the beginning, they mentioned, like, I have a lot of friends

Chelsey Donn:

Experience one too many times.

Chelsey Donn:

And every time the person is leaving saying, well, I don't need to do that again.

Chelsey Donn:

So I think that that's where the emotion is coming from.

Chelsey Donn:

But other than that, I feel like I'm ready to crown

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

let's crown, this telephone.

Chelsey Donn:

let's crown, this pet.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm holding up three crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey's holding up four crowns, Trey Y four crowns for travel pillow 11.

Trey Gerrald:

I did four, because I think the meat on this bone is accurate.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm just as an, a disagreement on the, um, of it.

Trey Gerrald:

I, it's not necessary in my opinion, to be so angry that you've had to take so many guests here.

Trey Gerrald:

And it's always disappointing.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, even if you are angry, I think you can be a little more straight to

Trey Gerrald:

Like this is.

Trey Gerrald:

Lucy and Desi go to Hollywood

Trey Gerrald:

It's very different today.

Trey Gerrald:

It's gone.

Trey Gerrald:

You're going to be in a tourist trap.

Trey Gerrald:

There's going to be lots of people trying to get money from you.

Trey Gerrald:

It's going to be a little unsavory, go

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

armed with this information.

Trey Gerrald:

And I wish you the best to have a great time.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, like, I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I, but that's just me.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm in a mood I guess, tonight, but

Chelsey Donn:

that's fine.

Trey Gerrald:

crowns, because I do think that travel Poe 11.

Trey Gerrald:

Is sharing something that I think is going to be a common experience.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, why did you say three?

Chelsey Donn:

I was like, I think I was more, I going into this.

Chelsey Donn:

I thought this is a four-star review because we have a lot of information.

Chelsey Donn:

And then I was sort of swayed a little bit by your emotional reaction to it.

Chelsey Donn:

away a couple of the crowns one because the spelling and grammar did make it a little

Chelsey Donn:

And if we're going to be.

Chelsey Donn:

Cynical and be rolling with this listicle type humor.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, we really got to hit the mark.

Chelsey Donn:

Otherwise you'll lose the reader.

Chelsey Donn:

So I took away some, a little bit of the crowns there.

Chelsey Donn:

And then also, because I was wondering, are you right?

Chelsey Donn:

Is travel PO 11, too emotional about this to the point where maybe somebody else reading it

Chelsey Donn:

And not the perspective a person that is kind of a little bit more jaded have

Chelsey Donn:

Because maybe there are tourists that even though they have to deal with the crowds and whatever,

Chelsey Donn:

So that was why I went with.

Trey Gerrald:

Wait, but you, that you just saying that little clarified for me, I

Trey Gerrald:

when travel post says I've had so many friends requests that we do this, that

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

has nothing to do with.

Trey Gerrald:

actual Hollywood video.

Trey Gerrald:

Why did I do it again?

Trey Gerrald:

Hollywood Boulevard that it does make me feel like maybe this is someone that's already upset and

Trey Gerrald:

Anyway,

Chelsey Donn:

Lots of chew on

Chelsey Donn:

lots to think about,

Trey Gerrald:

you went to Hollywood Boulevard, Chelsey?

Chelsey Donn:

my God, by choice,

Chelsey Donn:

Ryan.

Chelsey Donn:

God probably years.

Chelsey Donn:

There's a, there's a Dave and busters.

Chelsey Donn:

That's at Hollywood and Highland.

Chelsey Donn:

And I had a friend that had a birthday there a couple of years ago.

Chelsey Donn:

That was probably the last day.

Chelsey Donn:

But I used to do this live interactive show called accomplice Hollywood that

Chelsey Donn:

And I was there every weekend.

Chelsey Donn:

And I got to say, I was probably a little bit closer to travel Poe Eleven's opinion.

Chelsey Donn:

By the time I was finished with

Chelsey Donn:

that show.

Trey Gerrald:

And the very first time I ever went to Hollywood,

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I stayed at a hotel on Hollywood and vine.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

And literally the corner right next to it.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like show girls and All female nude.

Trey Gerrald:

Review!

Trey Gerrald:

girls, girls,

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

feels like, of

Chelsey Donn:

All the tick talk, people live in an apartment on like Hollywood and.

Chelsey Donn:

Which is kind of funny.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

My queen, we have done it.

Chelsey Donn:

We've reviewed those reviews and now we have reached the most Regal portion of our show.

Chelsey Donn:

Who are you?

Chelsey Donn:

Trey inducting for.

VOICEOVER:

My Royal Highness

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So today I am going to, indoct something that I listened to recently

Trey Gerrald:

Every time I listened.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to lean in this authentic part of my life.

Trey Gerrald:

And I am going to induct the original Broadway cast recording hairspray, the musical, which

Trey Gerrald:

Enjoyed Broadway that special musical American art form.

Trey Gerrald:

It was like the first hit after September 11th the city of New York really held on to the hairspray

Trey Gerrald:

And I also think that the story of hairspray being turned into a musical.

Trey Gerrald:

Just as like, kind of hilarious and odd,

Chelsey Donn:

yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

that the musical version really does what most successful musicals are good at.

Trey Gerrald:

And that is combined.

Trey Gerrald:

This sense of spectacle Broadway, like money, rich commercialism with actual like artistry.

Trey Gerrald:

And I do think that the story within hairspray of like, we can all be seen as

Trey Gerrald:

It doesn't matter what color our skin is.

Trey Gerrald:

As long as we care for each other.

Trey Gerrald:

Like the world can be better and like any musical that like, there's so many of them,

Trey Gerrald:

It also happened at a perfect time in my life.

Trey Gerrald:

And so I think when I listened to the cast recording, it instantly takes me back to that

Trey Gerrald:

And a positive way.

Trey Gerrald:

And that cast was so phenomenal and I just love it very much.

Trey Gerrald:

And so if you have not listened and a very long time, or if you never have, I would

Trey Gerrald:

It's different from the film.

Trey Gerrald:

And it's also different from the film adaptation that was made.

Trey Gerrald:

And.

Trey Gerrald:

Different from the live that was on NBC a couple of years ago, I would encourage you to

Trey Gerrald:

There's many bootlegs on YouTube.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm inducting the original Broadway cast recording of hairspray, I guarantee

Chelsey Donn:

Wow, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

I can hear the bells.

Chelsey Donn:

You're timeless to me.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, obviously I've, I've listened to the cast recording of hairspray

Chelsey Donn:

I've gone in for Tracy Turnblad so many times, so have saying good morning, Baltimore,

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, never got cast though.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause Marissa is very, very short.

Chelsey Donn:

So that means that all the trains.

Chelsey Donn:

I have to be very, very short, but I love hairspray.

Chelsey Donn:

And I love for you that you got to experience this cast recording over over and over again.

Chelsey Donn:

Sans the confetti.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I had a feeling we might circle back to that.

Trey Gerrald:

Also.

Trey Gerrald:

I have auditioned for Lynn Clark in many

Chelsey Donn:

there you go.

Trey Gerrald:

maybe you and I should put on a non-equity hairspray and

Chelsey Donn:

Well, I'm equity.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I'm

Chelsey Donn:

So it's equity.

Trey Gerrald:

but I don't think anyone's going to hire us.

Trey Gerrald:

So

Chelsey Donn:

We can hire ourselves

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

It can be produced by
