Ep:37: 13 Ways You Can MARKET Your Book Before, During and After You Launch

[00:00:00] Today. I want to give you 13 ways you can market your book before, during, and after your book launch.

[00:00:07] Because launching your book, it's a critical period where you want to bring as much attention as possible to your book when you're launching and even before as well. Because the truth is if no one knows about your book, no one will read it. No one will buy it and no one will learn from it.

[00:00:24] That means you're not making the impact you want to make with your book. So in this episode, I'm going to break down the 13 marketing ideas for you to consider pursuing before, during, and after your book launch. Now, what I'd recommend you to do is choose three or four ideas that appeal to you in this episode, and focus on those. That way, the marketing won't seem such a chore and you can gain confidence in working on the other marketing efforts later as well. So the first tip is to communicate your journey. Before I wrote, published to impact.

[00:00:59] I began sharing my journey with people on my email list and through Instagram and also wrote weekly articles online. That way, it wasn't a surprise to them that I was writing a book and people were getting to know me as well as the highs and lows in the writing process. It felt like people were on that journey with me as well. And what I was also doing is I was also taking my audience, like I said, on the journey with me because when I published my book, they're more likely to go ahead and buy it and to go ahead and read it.

[00:01:29] So the first strategy is to communicate your journey. Number two is through social media. You can use social media to your advantage so you can post milestones. You can, for example, I'm halfway through my book or five chapters in, or I finished my manuscript. Now it's off to the editor. There's different milestones that you can use to engage people with through social media. And you can also share teases so you can share your cover design.

[00:01:53] You can even get your audience to decide your cover design. If you've got a few options. Also provide behind the scenes content. So I would share my mind map with my audience and that would give them an insight into the kind of chapters that they can sort of visually see. And, and by doing this, you can also reach a broader audience and they can then become interested in your book and what you have to say as well.

[00:02:18] Number three is email marketing. So you can send out personalized emails to the people on your email list. So what I did for published impact is. I offered them a sneak peek into my book. You can also use your email list as a fantastic way to build your launch team as well. So if you've got people who so if you've got people who you want to have by your side, when that book is released, and they're going to be your raving fans who have previously read the book before it's released and given you feedback. You can use your email marketing to build your launch team , 3 emails.

[00:02:51] Number four. Influencer marketing. You can collaborate with influences who will be willing to share your book with their audience. Now, if you do decide to pursue this route, make sure the audience of the influencer aligns with your book's intended audience and how you would do that is to. Have a conversation with the influencer and really see if they're the right fit.

[00:03:15] If they're the right people for your book

[00:03:17] And you want to pitch that influencer as why you believe that book would help that audience. Number five is three KDP promotions. So Kindle direct publishing promotions. This is on Amazon. So take advantage of the Amazon book promotions.

[00:03:33] Now if your book is on Amazon, which I always highly recommend that it should be.

[00:03:38] You can utilize the Kindle countdown deals and free promotional days that are going to help boost your visibility in the marketplace. This can just help give you bring an influx of sales and influx of eyes onto your book. Which is going to help create that audience and to help market that book even further.

[00:03:56] Number six is to create a launch team.

[00:03:59] . I created launch change with my first two books. I didn't do it with published impact because I was releasing a podcast. When that book come out. So I focused more on the podcast, getting that set up to align it with the release date of my book now. But I will always recommend new authors to create a launch team. Launch team is an effective way to really, really generate buzz during your launch week.

[00:04:23] So, what you're going to do for your launch team is to find. Clients potential clients, friends, relatives, relatives, anybody who's interested in being part of a team.

[00:04:34] And you're going to gift them a free copy of your book so they can read it prior to the launch. And what they're going to do is they're going to leave a review for when your book comes out, which is going to boost your visibility in the marketplace.

[00:04:45] Again.

[00:04:47] And they're also going to share your book throughout the launch week and really become those raving fans and be advocates for your book.

[00:04:54] So having a team essentially is a great way to be promoted when that book comes out. So you can have more eyes on your book, through their networks, through their friends, through their families, and essentially. And essentially aim to make more impact in other people's lives. Number seven is local media outreach. Local media love to share local stories, especially if you're an author. So reach out to your local newspaper radio station or TV station, and you can pitch your book for an interview. Number eight is paid advertising. So you consider using meta ads, BookBub ads, which is essentially a book platform for ads. And Amazon ads to reach your potential target audience. If you're not experienced in ads, I wouldn't recommend it. It is something that you CA that can cost you money, especially if you're promoting just a book, because if you're selling your book at, let's just say if you're selling your Kindle book at $4 or $3 and your paper book back at $15. The cost per click and the cost per acquisition of your book.

[00:05:58] If you're not sure how to run ads can extremely outweigh the profit that you can make from that platform. So. I would only recommend paid advertising on your book if you're already experienced in it otherwise, I would stay away. Number nine paid promotions. So you might want to use pay promotion sites. There are sites called free Booksy or bargain Booksy, and this can reach an international audience. So promotions can range from 30 to a hundred Australian dollars and you can increase your Amazon ranking at the same time.

[00:06:30] So what happens is you pay for a promotion. If it's free book, see you're paying for a free promotion. So your book is free for that period.

[00:06:38] And that means an email will be sent out. To the list of that promotion company promoting either a free book or a paid book. And they have 24 to 48 hours. To pay to To get that book of yours. So paid promotions are a good way to generate more eyeballs on your book. I've done that with the six pillars of a rewarding life.

[00:06:57] I did a free promotion and I got something like 3000. People. Get that book download that book for free. And it's also a great way. Because if you're a business owner, And you're using resources inside your book that let people know how they can one getting contact with you to solve their problem and your bringing them into your world through your email list. It is a great way to bring them into your world. So you can eventually offer them other offers inside your business. That one can help solve that problem and to increase revenue inside your business.

[00:07:30] Number 10 is a podcast to a. So getting on podcasts is a great way to build buzz during, and after your book launch, you can pitch to podcast hosts, hosts, and secure an interview prior to your launch. Then also you can ask the host if it's possible to release the interview during your launch week. What that's going to do is the listeners of the podcast that you will on.

[00:07:51] They're going to go search for your book when that book's released. And if they're interested, they will buy it. And if it's, if they buy it during launch week, it's going to boost your ranking

[00:07:59] and it's going to help you climb that ladder to become a bestseller.

[00:08:03] Number 11 is to offer pre-order bonuses. So if you're taking pre-orders for your book. You can include bonuses to incentivize purchases, for instance. You could include bonus chapters in the initial launch phase of your book, or perhaps even if you're, if you're a a fitness. I know. Or perhaps if you are a nutritionist and you have a book coming out, you can include a meal plans or templates meal templates, just to get people interested in buying that book.

[00:08:32] And that's going to help incentivize them to pre-order your book. And it's a way to increase your book sales early. Number 12 are reviews. The 12th way you can market your book reviews. So keep asking readers for reviews because that's how your book gains credibility. If you've got clients who are reading your book, who have read your book, tell them to write a review. And it's also really important to, to let the reader know, to leave a review inside your book as well.

[00:09:01] So when you're writing your book, I would tell my clients to make sure that they include a space to let their reader know, to leave a review. Because when people search on Amazon, they'll read the reviews and make an informed decision on whether to buy the book or not. And it's not necessarily the quantity of reviews, but it's the quality which leads to the final marketing idea at number 13. The final way to market your book is to actually launch a great book. This goes without saying, but writing and publishing a great book. is what helps generate word of mouth marketing. And there are three non-negotiables to make that happen.

[00:09:39] Number one, you want to have a great book cover too. You want to make sure your book has been through a professional copy. Edit. And number three, you want to take your reader on the journey from beginning to end. So where did that rate a start? What is that problem? And how have you solved it throughout that book?

[00:09:57] So where does the reader end when they finished that book? So publishing your book? It's the first step and marketing is always an ongoing part of your books life out in the world. As long as you consistently leverage yourself as. The expert in your field, as long as. you continue to identify your reader's problems and continue to solve them in a relatable, empathetic. way.

[00:10:20] Your book is going to be awesome. Your book will be a valuable asset inside your business, inside your career and inside your life. So that's all for today's episode. Thank you so much for joining me and I'll catch you again on the next one.
