Welcome back to Catching Up with Katie. So, today's a little bit different because I I have a little bit of anxiety

0:06

for watching my Stallion show. So, like I had said last week, we're going to the NSBA World this week, but it didn't make

0:13

sense for us to go 3 days early to watch him in one class. Um, so for the first

0:19

time ever, Denver, first things first, my four-year-old stallion, he is showing in a halter class with a professional uh

Denver’s Show

0:27

halter trainer. they're showing in the open performance halter stallions. Now,

0:32

I don't want to have any any hopes for this. You know, there's a lot of really talented horses, established stallions

0:39

that are, you know, he's four. He's not even finished growing. Like, sometimes they they're not even as they grow, you

0:45

know, things like that. And I do think his confirmation is fantastic. And he did win the halter portion of the

0:51

versatility challenge that he showed in last year, but we're watching. So, they're they've got a bunch of ads going

0:57

right now. We're watching the live stream of the Superduty Arena at the NSBA World Show. Um, and then on

1:03

Wednesday, today's Monday, on Wednesday, we're going to head out to Tulsa. So, that's going to be a really fun time.

1:08

We'll hopefully watch him um in either the Green Western Pleasure or the

1:13

Maturity. So, anyway, what are what are your thoughts on um going this year?

1:19

This is your second NSBA world. Um, I'm excited. I

1:25

She's excited for the pool. I'm excited for the pool. We have a pool. We have a pool at the uh Airbnb.

1:31

I am excited for the pool. Um, I'm excited to watch Denver show because

1:37

most of the time when we go to shows, we don't really have someone that we're

1:43

there cheering on. So, it's nice to two congresses ago, we watched Hank and that was like there was so much like

1:49

excitement around that, but I didn't own it. Like I was just the breeder. It's nice to be like a little more like involved in everything. And

1:57

yeah, I the only thing is I doubt I get to ride him because like no, he's not going to let me ride him the

Will I Ride Denver?

2:03

day before he shows him. Like that's just not going to happen. So, we're going to go we're going to shop a

2:09

little. Um, I do have I don't even know cuz I you know all the big shows they

2:14

have shopping but the congress is where like the shopping is and so I NSBA world

2:21

does have some the one thing I want over the next couple of months um we're starting to actually

2:27

get furniture for the shop. So until now, we've been using all my parents'

2:33

old furniture, Jonathan's parents old furniture, and just kind of like hodge podgeing it with like their old couches

2:38

that me and Jonathan both grew up with. And I was like, "Okay, we are we're getting a couch." So we ordered a couch,

2:45

a big like sectional. So this year during foing season when y'all fall asleep on the couch, inevitably instead

2:51

of going up to the beds, it'll actually be comfy and and big. Um and Abigail almost

2:59

never went to the bedrooms. No. There was like a fat chair and two hodge podge couches and they just kind

3:05

of sucked you in. Uh-huh. Well, the the little chair and a half every time I got stuck on it cuz

3:11

Yeah. She stole the couch immediately every night. Yeah. No, there was no like

3:18

there's no discussion. Like everyone knew that I was sleeping there. I have

3:23

FOMO. I can't go up to one of the bedrooms at 8 or 9:00 and then when

3:29

everyone else is awake until like midnight. Like if I'm going to go to sleep, I'd rather fall asleep downstairs where like

3:35

the action is. Mhm. Right. Um but then you're taking up like a whole

3:40

a whole couch, a three-seater, right? Um so we I would always end up

3:46

because I would stay up late pretty much every night. The chair and a half I call it I don't know what it's actually

3:51

called. The chair and a half. It's I would like be comfortable for a good 45 minutes sideways in it and I'm like okay

3:59

then it's just it's the worst. You you fell asleep in that a lot.

4:04

You know what I'm talking about. The back. You start fine and there's like one position you can be in that's comfortable

4:10

and then you kind of doze off and then wiggle and then you wake up in the worst position imaginable.

4:16

I've slept in that chair before. You're also tiny. Well, we were a lot longer than you. I

4:22

wasn't saying that I had a positive experience. My neck hurt really bad the next morning.

4:28

So, I was just saying I relate. Anyway, we're going to be upgraded this

Upgrades for This Foaling Season

4:34

year. Every bowling season we're upgrading. Last year, you know, we had the uh Yeah. Okay.

4:41

We have snacks coming.

4:49

And now from today's sponsor, which is Curved. If you've been following me for a while, then you know I love curved

Sponsor!

4:56

earplugs. But that's not what we're talking about today. Today, we're talking about the Curved case and clip

5:02

product. So, I'm going to go ahead and stick my earplugs in here, put the top on,

5:10

and then put it in the silicone case that it comes with. Now, obviously, you

5:15

can use this case and clip product to store your earplugs. I use my curved earplugs when we go on planes, when

5:21

we're traveling, when I'm trying to sleep, uh when we go to concerts, things like that. But you can also use it to

5:27

store other things. You can store medications. You could store your wedding ring. Pretty much anything that you can fit in here. It's super easy.

5:35

It's cute. Comes in six different colors. I have two right here. You can see the purple and the mint green color.

5:43

Um some people have multiple of them to use for multiple different purposes. So, say you have a couple of these on your

5:49

keychain. One of them is holding your engagement ring while you're working out, whatever. Or the other one carries

5:56

some Tylenol, some travel medications or your earplugs. So, check out the case and clip from Curved. Go to the link in

6:02

my description or there will be a QR code on the screen. And now back to the video. And we're back. Um, I'm still

6:09

watching. We were taking like a little snack break, you know? We We all needed a little chocolate, a little something. I mean, did you eat your chocolate or

6:15

did you eat your salty? I ate my uh payday, which is uh salted nuts and

6:21

caramel. No chocolate. No chocolate. No. Pretty good.

6:27

It's pretty good. Pretty good. You have to try one one time. No. No. I'm We're still waiting on the class to start. So,

6:33

no. No. I'm excited. Halter is probably one of the most boring classes to watch, but I

6:40

think as a stallion, that's a pretty important thing that like if he can excel in that, like it it's a good trait

6:46

to have that you're confirmationally correct going into siring babies. So, I think regardless of how he does today, I

6:54

do think that's going to be something that he excels in going forward. Today, it might be that, you know, the

Let’s Watch Denver

7:00

stallions he's in there with are more mature. they're more, you know, whatever. But, um, yeah, I'm

7:06

very excited to watch this. So, you're gonna see me just like what's happening now.

7:12

We're still waiting on it to start. Oh, I hope someone there films it. I mean, we're going to I'm going to like,

7:18

you know, screen record it so that we can share it. But, you know, they don't they don't watch

7:23

just him the whole time. I'm going to only get little glimpses of him. Um, so anyway, he will have already

7:29

shown by the time we got there. I was really bummed cuz they have performance halter stallions at like the world show

7:35

and I believe at the congress for amateurs to show. They don't have it at the NSBA world so I couldn't show them

7:40

at all. Yeah, there was nothing for me to show them in. I was I was big bummer. I know. Um so that's why we didn't go.

7:47

But anyway, what were we um you were talking about? Do you think there will be so going back

7:54

to foing season and how we you know have are going to have better furniture this year. The one thing is I want to shop

8:01

while we're at Congress for a love seat that is bigger and deeper for we're

8:06

we're bigbodied people. Okay, not you. I'm saying me and like Jonathan like my family. We're tall except my mom. We're

8:13

tall. Um so I want a really big western themed love seat.

8:21

[Laughter] Is it loud? No, it's fine. A little bit.

8:29

It's fine. Just trying to get him open. Shouldn't What's he going to be chomping on in the

8:34

middle of this? Be too bad after that. Um, there is a new edition coming today. So, we're going to be jetting out of

New Addition

8:40

here to meet that new edition in a couple of hours, but like to y'all it'll be a couple of seconds. So, I'm actually

8:46

going to just I'm going just let her we're going to introduce her now. This is it. Okay. Do

8:51

it. Now, we're out of the podcast room. This is a day later. So, she ended up arriving. around midnight last night.

8:58

This is our new reset mayor. So, I don't know hardly anything about her. We got to come up with a name for her. I know

9:04

you're four. I know you're a grade mayor, but you look like a quarter horse. She does have a couple of brands.

9:10

I'll show you her brands if you'll come around slowly this way. Um, she has a wound on her butt that we are having the

9:16

vet come out and look at because it's got some fluid in it. Um, so she has a Spade brand on her hip and then $53.99.

9:23

Pretty sure that's um from the Resip Farm. So, that's all we know about her. Her belly to me looks like she's had a

9:29

baby, but her tits do not. So, I don't even know if she's a maiden or what.

9:34

But, this mayor is carrying the Waffle House VS Code Red Baby. So, she's due March 12th. Um, she comes right after,

9:41

let me pull out my handy dandy due dates. Let's see.

9:48

So March 12th, she's going to be a month after Charlotte after we have like four mayors that are due kind of close and

9:54

then we have like a month break. So she's going to be due near Phoebe Maggie. Um it depends on how you know

10:00

early she comes for Charlotte and like to be close to her. So she's kind of right smack dab in the middle of all

10:06

nine of our our brood mares for next year. So super excited. She looks like a palamino version of Gracie to me. She's

10:13

just a tiny cow horse that is thick and I love it. So, we're really excited to have a palamino on the farm. We've never

10:19

had a palamino since I can remember. I think we had one when I was an itty bitty kid, but other than that, we we

10:24

haven't had one. So, hope you love her. Let me know if you have any name suggestions. And back to the studio.

10:31

I'll just explain it while we're watching this going. So, halter is based all on the confirmation of the horse,

No joke... actually watching Denver now!

10:37

how they're built. Um, so they'll score them not only on their structure, but on their muscle, on their weight. There's

10:43

Denver. I see him. There he is. There's my big boy. Let them see your

10:48

teeth, bud. So, they check their mouth, they check their teeth, they check their body, they

10:54

look at their soundness. So, you have to walk up to the judges, check teeth, and then you jog them. Um, so that they see

10:59

that your horse is sound. There he is. He's being a little bit of a turd. It's

11:05

okay. He's a baby. Is that Aaron? No, we had a halter trainer named Jason

11:11

Smith show him for us. Um, so he's going to also show him at the congress, but he already is promised to another horse for

11:20

the world show if we decided to do it. I'm curious how many are in here. I

11:26

already saw four at least.

11:36

Um, oh, look. Look at him. Danny. Danny, he looks so big. So,

11:44

that's the thing. I I am hopeful for him in the future. Like, I see a couple very

11:49

nice horses in this class. They're probably a lot more mature than he is

11:54

just in age. Like, a four-year-old, he's nowhere near done growing and maturing.

11:59

So, this makes me, you know, regardless of how he does today, it makes me hopeful for for his future as well. He

12:06

looks great. His weight looks really good. He's muscled. He's very And that's your class.

12:12

You have five in the pen. Okay. Well, we're at least top five. Top five, baby. Top five at SBA World Show, baby.

12:19

Let's go. So, five big booms. I guess the performance halter stallions

12:25

isn't normally that big because generally people show gelings like the Okay, the performance halter geling

12:31

class. I don't know how many were in it. I guarantee it was over 50. Wow. Guarantee over 50. Um Kimmyy's right

12:38

here. Well, I I wanted you to wants to see it as well. This is why we need the TV in here. We're supposed to

12:45

have a TV. Okay. So, I saw a couple that look more like hunt seat stallions.

12:54

So, anyway, they then square up. They have all their feet square just to show off their confirmation the best. You

13:00

don't want to park them out to where they're making their body look disproportionate. Um, you want to have

13:05

their head level at the level that shows them best. There's Denver. He was putting his head up like a bad boy. It's

13:10

okay. It's fine. He's a baby. Top five. Top five. Top five world show baby. Um,

13:18

and each judge will walk around the horse. They'll look at everything that

13:23

you can even think of. I honestly would love to do a video with either a halter

13:30

judge, halter, trainer, somebody more so for the performance halter since that's what I'll be showing in to see what what

13:37

are we looking for? What is the most correct horse? What are things that you would change about Denver? What are things that you would I think that would

13:43

be an absolute amazing video to do for educational purposes? Um Oh, I'm nervous. Mhm.

13:50

So, they'll have five judges and generally, I don't know if this is how they do it at NSBA World, um they do it

13:55

like this at the Congress where they take all five, they'll place them out where you line up for each judge, they

14:03

toss out your highest and your lowest score, and then they go off of your

14:09

middle three scores, and then it's tallied up somehow. I don't I don't know.

14:14

He looks so scrumptious. He's so beefy right now, which is great. I was like,

14:20

you know, going into these big shows a lot of times you're riding them so much sometimes it's kind of hard to keep them like beefy. Like they just get so fit.

14:27

Yeah. This front one's really, really, really nice that they have the camera on right here. This big bay.

14:32

That's always been my problem. He's staying beefy.

14:38

Nah, staying too fit to get beefy. He just stays too fit. I see. I see.

14:46

Denver. He in the last year that I've had him even I mean he he's matured just so much

14:53

and turned into like a man. Yeah. Which I mean for like let's say cuz I

15:00

hope that he shows for years. I think, you know, as we add the trail and the

15:05

western writing and continue with the pleasure and then I hopefully get to show him some, you know, I think he's

15:10

got a long show career ahead of him. Hopefully, you know, god forbid an injury or something, but I think we'll

15:17

see him blossom even more by the time he's six. Oh my gosh. I think six is when they just like

15:23

be putting his wing. Put your ears up. No, no weenie. That was his big thing at the world show.

15:29

Someone posted a Tik Tok of his mirror sticking out at the world show cuz I was

15:35

like across from him like he was far and they were like right there and they

15:43

he was just showing them what he's what he had. So that that's one thing that you'll see with halter trainers. Some

15:48

take in like a lighter. Some will take in like a treat or like a a rapper just

15:53

to get their ears because while no, you're not being judged off of your ears being forward, it does it does give like

16:01

the full picture, it's more polished. It's more polished. It get it's like oh man, you know, if he's standing there like attention and so I just saw him

16:08

have a lighter to be like and then we're just like no, I don't care.

16:14

I'm over this already. Oh, he's got his ears forward there. This is going to be the most boring

16:19

catching up with Katie ever. We're all just talking about this horse standing here. He's literally just standing

16:25

there. He's doing so good. Like I said, this is the most boring thing to watch if you're not like

16:32

I mean, even if you know what you're talking about, it's boring to watch. It's probably not boring to show or to, you know, be a part of necessarily. And

16:38

like I think it's honestly one of the difficult thing to judge because

16:44

I mean you're not going off of performance like technically speaking if the horse is like rearing up that's not

16:50

judged. Yeah. Like you can go in and the horse is like rearing and being bad and that happens a

16:56

lot. As long as they stand there long enough for them to judge their confirmation and say that's the one

17:01

that's the best conformed in this class, they can still win. I think there probably is like a okay, you're a safety

17:07

hazard, you can retire. Like I think there probably is a limit to that, but it's not judged on behavior.

17:14

No, no, this is performance halter stallions, which means they have to be showing in a performance class at the

17:21

show and or I could be wrong because they might have changed the rules or they could have an ROM, meaning they've

17:27

shown enough to get 10 points in a performance class. Gotcha. So Denver hasn't gotten an ROM

17:34

yet because he's barely shown. And so I believe they changed the rule recently to where as long as they're

17:40

showing in a performance class at that horse show.

17:46

I'm hearing out there first. Oh no, it's delayed. We have the results now for open

17:53

performance holder stallions. We had five show in fifth place earning the NSBA Western

17:59

saddle pad bag. Congratulations 1166 ultimately great somebody

18:08

there's the Congress queen uh and then that's Kamaya McGrath as well. So if he

18:14

gets fourth fine but third place up gets huge trophies. Oh no, they're going they're going down

18:20

there. They're going down there. It's it's like delayed and it's happening out in making me more anxious.

18:26

In fourth place earning the NSBA Ice Boots. Congratulation to 410 DGS legacy

Placings!

18:33

s by Jessica Johnson fourth place in open performance holder

18:39

stallions he could he's either the bronze reserve or champion I don't you know

18:45

yeah and now the bronze champion earning the NSBA bronze trophy the NSBA cool the

18:50

stable savers gift certificate a check for $348 congratulations $571

18:58

when and where shown by Kelly Winston, Texas, bronze champion for open

19:05

performance holder stallions. Well, now I'm nervous.

19:11

Even reserve world champion, buddy. I shoot.

19:16

[Music] Now he he like he can be classified as

19:23

either reserve world champion or world champion stout. Yeah, that's so sick. And now earning the NSBA

Reserve World Champion

19:31

Silver Trophy, the Tyogga Territory vest, a check for $610.

19:37

Your reserve champion in open performance holder stallions 1063.

19:42

First things first for Katherine Van Slike, your reserve champion in open

19:49

performance holder beat reserve world champion, baby. Who? Do you know who the other one is?

19:55

Uh we we'll wait and hear. Uh so when and where which is the one that was right underneath him as a stallion that

20:01

uh Aaron also shows in the pleasure and he is by BS code red. Wow.

20:07

Look at him. He looks like a man. We we got we have to have we got to start a trophy room.

20:13

Yeah, for sure. Cuz we I have some stuff that he won at the world show and like I have a couple

20:19

of other things. But anyway, and now ladies and gentlemen, earning the NSBA gold trophy, the NSBA World

20:25

Champion buckle, world championship. Nice horse, the world champion rug, the tribute

20:31

constant comfort paste, Tyogga territory jacket, a check for $784.

20:38

Your world champion and open performance holder stallions. Congratulations. 957

20:43

best and radical sh by Ted Turner Jr. That's a nice horse.

20:48

Congrats. Very nice horse. Congratulations. And Ted Turner is an absolute legend in

20:54

the halter world as well as a trainer and showman. Sick. Reserve world champion, baby.

21:02

That's awesome. I think I just shrieked through that whole thing. So, when is the next thing he shows in

21:08

after we're That'll be this weekend. So, that's what we're going to watch. So, he's showing in one or two Western pleasure classes.

21:15

were kind of last minute deciding on these things because

21:20

while he's so talented, he's also just still a young stallion, young baby. Like

21:28

we took him really slowly through everything. And western pleasure for him, you know, I think he's going to be

21:34

really, really stellar in the western writing and the trail cuz he really likes going forward and he looks

21:40

gorgeous going forward. And while we do show him going more forward, um, like

21:45

it's just something that we don't want to like burn him out on, we don't want to like make him not like it, right? We don't want to show him too much in

21:50

it. Um, and so, so anyway, we're making that decision based off of like is he

21:56

super tired? Is he, you know, like if he goes and like wins, we might just like be like, you you don't owe us another

22:02

one, buddy. You know, whatever. And even if he doesn't, like we'll just we'll just go off of that day. And if it's like, well, he just did great and he's

22:08

still got a lot in him, like we'll do a second class, you know, cuz these classes while Yeah. you're walking,

22:14

you're jogging, you're loping. Excuse me. You're walking, jogging, loping,

22:19

which seems like I think people have this misconception that it's an easy, not um fatiguing class. There's so much

22:27

prep that goes into it. There's so much writing that goes into it. mentally like you're working on these horses so much

22:33

because you're showing them at this like high of level and you're wanting them to be perfect. So, it absolutely is

22:39

fatiguing mentally and physically and like the amount of strength they take to be as collected as they are at that slow

22:46

speed, it takes a lot. And so, we're just going to we're going to make all of our decisions based on Denver and what,

22:52

you know, is going to make him have the most success and be the best and not

22:57

necessarily like push him past, you know, whatever. Yeah. And I think that was fantastic. That was

23:03

such a good little like get in there. Like I'm so excited for the congress. I'm so excited like you know that that's

23:10

his first ever like halter. He's never shown in the halter ever. Yeah. And I mean there's only five in that

23:15

class. But like I said, it's a whole lot harder to find performing stallions.

23:21

Like a lot of the times, especially in the quarter horse world, once a stallion

23:26

has proven themselves a little bit, they've gone into show, they've shown as a 2-year-old, three-year-old, um maybe

23:33

even like four-year-old, a lot of the times if they've proven themselves in those first couple of years, they have a

23:38

demand for breeding mayors, and it just becomes a lot harder to like manage their schedule. Yeah.

23:44

Um, like this past year, we only offered Denver with frozen semen because we were

23:50

like, we don't want him to have to go back and forth and, you know, we want him to stay in training and stay

23:55

focused. And so, we collected him ahead of time and only offered frozen. Well, some people just don't want to deal with

24:00

frozen or their vet doesn't have the ability to do frozen or whatever. They only want fresh, cooled, transported.

24:06

And that there's a higher demand for that. And so, a lot of people just say,

24:11

you know what, he's proven himself. we're going to just go to the breeding barn because it it does get really strenuous on them. I mean, breeding

24:18

season's from February till June. So then if you leave them to be collected fresh

24:23

and then you get them out in June, it's kind of hard to get them, you know, back

24:28

leged up for showing in time for big shows. And it's not just on like their training at home. Training throughout

24:35

the show season is super important. And so I I have no problem with people doing that. like that that's just something

24:41

that happens. So with Denver this coming year, what we're doing because we did have a lot of people saying I would

24:47

breed to him but I don't do frozen. We are going to offer the first to six weeks of breeding

24:54

season as fresh. So he'll get collected for more frozen over like after the

25:00

world show he'll get a big break and then he'll go get collected. will freeze and then in February he'll get collected

25:06

Monday, Wednesday, Friday from February 1st through like March, we'll come up with a date like March

25:12

14th, March 15th, whatever that is 2 weeks into March so that if you have an open mayor early on and you want to, you

25:18

know, do fresh collected, that's great. Um, and then it'll go to Frozen after that. Yeah. So that he can go back into training and

25:25

just focus on training and not be going back and forth um to the breeding barn anyway. So that's why it just there's

25:34

not a whole lot of working stallions, it seems. And not every stallion wants

25:39

to show in the halter. Yeah. Like they just, you know, whatever. So very exciting.

25:44

And he he won that barrel racing thing, didn't he? Oh my gosh. Yes.

25:50

That's crazy. Still he did. He did. Um, so, so when would most

25:57

like what is the average point to where you go he's proven himself? Like what is is it a number of wins? Is it winning?

Proving Your Broodmares

26:03

I think it depends on what what you're doing. Yeah. There some of the most prolific

26:08

stallions in our industry that we're like, "Oh my god." Like that I am like, "I have I need a baby from them." Still

26:16

really didn't prove themselves that much. They just had good babies. Mhm. Their progyny proved them. So you can prove yourself in a numerous amount

26:23

of ways. That's what happens with a lot of mayors like because okay, say Ginger, my mayor, who um has had two babies. She hurt

26:32

herself at 7 months old to where she couldn't never be shown. Mhm. So we were like, she's super nice.

26:38

Pretty much her only job would be to be a pasture ornament or to have a baby. and she's just absolutely phenomenal and

26:46

talented and didn't get to do that in the show pen. But now she's had two babies that are absolutely phenomenal. Now once they go to the show pin cuz her

26:53

oldest one's a yearling. Once they go to the show pen and let's say one of them goes and is

26:58

top 10 at the congress or you know whatever, she starts being proven as a broodmare. Yeah. Because then her babies are being

27:04

successful and not even like a big top 10 or a top five placing somewhere. like

27:10

a point earner, like they're going to shows and being successful. They're just overall doing well.

27:15

Yeah. Yeah. So, I think it it just depends on what your goals are, what discipline you're

27:22

in, I know of plenty of stallions that if they went to the world show or the congress and won one time, done.

27:29

They would call it right then. Right then. Yeah. They're like, "This horse is worth too much. It's proven itself enough.

27:35

We're taking it. We're taking it." Minimize the risk and everything. Yeah, which I can't I can't hate that at all.

27:41

Um I personally just think Denver has so much to offer talentwise past western

27:48

pleasure. I think he's going to be just I I have the feeling and the like when I

27:54

see him that he's going to be so stellar in the western writing and the trail. And those classes aren't something that

28:00

you can just whip out. Yeah. You've got to you got to really work towards them. They're a lot more complicated. It's a way higher skill

28:08

level for the horse to have to know. Yeah. Um I'm not saying you have to have a higher

28:13

talent level at all. Like Western Pleasure, you still have to have a huge talent level, but when you get to where you're changing leads and you're going

28:20

over polls and there's now a it's not just a movement factor, it's like a

28:25

there's a course factor as well. It it's it takes time. Yeah. And so that's not something that we

28:32

could just crack out at 3 years old, you know, like he he did have lead changes

28:37

in his pattern and spins and a couple poles in his pattern in the Western versatility at the end of his

28:43

three-year-old, but even then, I mean, that's early. Yeah. Um,

28:48

so we were really excited about him in the future, and that was just that we just watched his first like crackout,

28:55

you know. That was awesome. That was really really cool. I'm glad we got to do that. Mhm. Um but yeah, I guess other than that,

29:01

you know, we're going on this trip this past weekend. Um we did go furniture

29:07

shopping. Yeah, I thought Abigail was going to furniture shop with me. She just watched me

29:14

furniture shop. She was misled. I think misled.

29:21

Go. I heard I heard like warehouse sale and I was like this is going to be

29:28

like my type of thing. Yeah. Which there were many things in there that I

29:36

thought were nice. Yeah. And like I could have in my home,

29:43

but I couldn't. Yeah. I couldn't. I thought it was and and it wasn't like

29:50

it was good price things like for what they were they were good prices but I thought I'm more of a thrifty person

29:57

and I thought it was going to be like a little antiquequy thrifty type. I told you it wasn't antique

30:04

like it's not used. I didn't know. Okay. I knew the day before. Up until that point though I was

30:11

like expecting But you still you still I still went. So she went Rebecca went with us too.

30:17

Shaya was supposed to go and just absolutely ghosted us. Um, she said she slept through her alarm.

30:23

Okay. What time did y'all go? We left around like 6:45 or we were

30:29

supposed to leave at 6 7. We left at 7 cuz it opens at 8 and like had we gotten

30:34

there 5 minutes later, we would have been Yeah. So, I mean, like the line is insane.

30:39

What is it? Okay. We drove 15 minutes. It's called Sarah Cells. Okay. Okay. It's like once a month. They have

30:45

multiple locations. I got two chairs and a table. I got a a a kitchen table for

30:52

my house because the kitchen table I have in there right now, we got an estate sale and it's huge. It is huge.

30:57

It takes up like the entire room. So, I wanted just a smaller like circular one and I want to bring that table back here

31:03

cuz it's so much more open here. And so, I got that table. I thought the chairs

31:09

were a little more pricey than I wanted to spend. So, I was like, I'll find chairs somewhere else. The table was good. It was kind of like that where

31:15

some things you were like that's a really good price and then some things you were like. So I got two like living room type chairs

31:23

and like I said we're we're getting actual furniture. Oh, it's nice. And I wanted bar stools. They didn't

31:29

really have bar stools that were my style. They were a little bit more. Most of them weren't tall enough either.

31:36

Yeah, they were a little bit more modern. And I will say all of her stuff was super nice. It has changed vibes a

31:42

little bit since the last time I went, which was like five years ago. Like they've been going for like eight years. There was somebody in line that had

31:49

driven. What' they say? 7 hours. What? From Washington, Illinois.

31:54

And we were like I just knew of it because it was local. And I didn't realize this was like this huge

31:59

furniture thing that people cuz they're limited stock, you know, like they have girls walking around with iPads and you

32:05

grab them and buy it. Like if you don't it's not going to be there. Dang. 10 minutes later. Yeah. We would walk past something and

32:12

then walk back a few minutes later and there's like sold on the things. I want to go to witness.

32:17

It was it was fun. We got in and it was kind of nice. We like fanned out and you were like table over here and like cuz cuz I knew I

32:24

wanted chairs, table, and bar stools, but the bar stools were like not my thing. So, Congress this year, they have

32:31

tons of like westerny um furniture places. Yeah. In those warehouses. You

32:38

haven't been? Mm- going this year. And so my my like

32:43

shopping list for that is bar stools and a like love seat slash like chair and

32:49

half whatever. Um but anyway, also uh over the weekend it was Nate's

32:57

birthday on Saturday and it was the an 2year anniversary

33:03

of Code Red. Right. Of Code Red. Same day. Right. So, did okay. Nate on his

33:09

birthday entered a golf tournament. Is that something we talk about or not talk about? It's fine. We can talk about. How'd it go?

33:14

It did. I very underperformed on the first half of the round. Warming up.

33:20

Yeah. I shot I shot 12 over uh for the whole thing, but I was 11

33:26

over through the first half. So, Oh, I got you. Yeah. So, I feel like I played my normal

33:33

good golf the second half. Um, and then later that evening actually

33:39

went and played again to try to find a little redemption in myself and I shot

33:44

74. So I I finished the day with a really good round of golf. I just started off a

33:51

little wonky. Yeah, I got you. Fair. Uh I think I I got six or seventh.

33:57

That's awesome. So yeah. Was there was there prizes for like top 10 or was it you did you have to win to get uh top three? What was like the top?

34:05

What was their score? One under. One under par. So 71.

34:10

That's good. It wasn't too stiff a competition. Yeah. I mean I got six and shot 84.

34:17

So how many were in it? I think 20 or 25.

34:23

Okay. Okay. Good. That's good. Yeah. I was I was happy with myself. That's good. I

34:28

I had I had a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun doing it. Did Did Did you get a caddy? No.

34:34

Did Macy and the baby come cheer you on? Yeah, they were there for the last hole and like saw us come in. And I actually I sank a really long putt

34:42

uh on the last hole and she didn't cheer cuz she thought she would embarrass me. But I've really wanted a big, you know,

34:48

but she didn't know cuz it's golf and like Yeah. Everyone's quiet, right? Right. Right. Robert, but I told her next time just let it

34:55

out. We called. So on our way back from furniture shopping, we called Nate to sing him Happy Birthday and we left him

35:01

a message with us singing to him and then he didn't get it until today. So he just thought we just didn't call him on

35:08

his birthday. Yeah, I wasn't going to bring it up. But I sent it to him. Then I got the voicemail and I was like,

35:13

"Oh, I just missed it. My fault." Anyway, he didn't have the number saved. True.

35:18

So my new work phone, no one has the number saved on it and everyone just ignores my calls from it. I'm gonna do

My Work Phone

35:25

it now. I'm gonna save it now for future. Yesterday. Okay. So, Opal collect this

35:31

past week. Uh this weekend, lots happened this weekend. So, Opal collect and after the vet came, she just didn't

35:38

really rally. So, I was like, I'm going to take her to the vet. And I don't tell anybody when this happens until after

35:44

the fact. I was left alone, completely alone. Uh parents gone, Jonathan gone,

35:50

Austin gone, uh Charles gone. Nobody was on the property and I'm just fending for

35:56

all the animals myself. So like like we did have people come in like normal

36:01

weekend staff for the barn, but as far as like mini farm or if an emergency

36:06

happened, like whatever, it's on me. So the cattle trailer was hooked up. What I

36:11

didn't know is Seven's ramp was in the trailer, which weighs like I don't even know how much. It's so heavy. And so I

36:18

couldn't get it out myself and so that trailer was now unusable to me. Also, if

36:23

I like that was the truck that I had to hook up, I can never unhook the cattle

36:30

trailer. It's old and stiff and I'm not strong enough to like there's like a bolt that anyway

36:37

I'm never like there's like a pin you got to pull. I can't ever do it. And so I'm calling Jonathan like I've been left

36:45

to fend for myself and I need to go to this emergency and I was so mad because I'm like I got to get her to this

36:51

freaking hospital. So Evan and Rebecca were on like a date night and I was about to call and ruin it and I called

36:58

Charles. This is all to say. I called Charles um and he was in Murphreey'sboro

37:04

but anyway I called him. Click doesn't doesn't answer me. And I'm like, because

37:10

I only had this phone and I was like, "Okay." So then he calls me back and we

37:17

get it all figured out. He gets he gets there and we start unhooking the trailer and he's like, "Now I'm glad I answered

37:23

or I'm glad I called you back because I thought it was one of them spam callers

37:28

and I hung up and then I said, "You know what, Chuck? I I got time." So I called

37:34

him back and I was gonna give him a piece of my mind. And then I hear you going, "Charles, I need help." And I was

37:40

like, "I'm glad I called back." I'm just like, "Who calls back the spam callers?" Um, I also heard that story yesterday

37:47

from Did you? I did. He and I had to keep reminding him that it was an emergency situation. I kept

37:53

having to be like, "Hey, I know you want to like tell me the story, but can we

37:58

can we get this unhooked also?" Um, and then she was fine. Like once we got her on, all was fine. But I was like, there

38:05

is no worse feeling than being helpless. Like I was just like,

38:11

what? I need to put her on a trailer and get her to the hospital. And I'm weak. I'm too weak. I can't do it.

38:17

Too weak. Like worst feeling ever. And I was like, if

38:22

there's a new stock trailer in the next two weeks on this property, you know why? Yeah. You know why? She's fine, though. She's

38:29

back. Um, so that happened. Um, I did go shopping and get some stuff for

38:36

Tulsa, which was nice. Me and Jonathan went and had a little date. We went to Cool Springs. Um, went shopping. You

38:42

went shopping as well. I went shopping. Um, Nate dress vibes.

38:48

Drip. I'm wearing I have like I love a good pepleum. I got a few

38:55

pepleum shirt type things to go over my jeans and boots. So, write down pepleum tops.

Big News for Abigail

39:02

Dressy top. I'm wearing turk turquo. You do love a pepleum top. I will be turqu

39:10

I will not be wearing my cowboy hat. I think you should though. Again, it's it's luggage space. When we

39:17

drive, I can take it. When we fly, it's hard with the camera stuff.

39:22

That was his birthday present last year from NSP World and he has I've worn it I've worn it to like dinner and things like that.

39:28

To be fair, I haven't worn mine either. When are you going to wear yours? No. No, don't say either. I do wear

39:34

mine. Whenever you wear yours. Gotcha.

39:40

I do. I do wear mine sometimes like to dinner and things. Let's talk about also what happened this weekend. You loped Oh, yeah. on Ethel.

39:50

Luckily for her, Ethel's the best horse to learn on because she does not want to go. So, it is purely like you're never

39:59

like uh Rebecca's little girl rode her the other day and we we tried to convince her to lope and she was too scared to just because I mean she's

40:06

normally on ponies so Ethel's a bigger horse and we were like I promise you

40:12

she does not want to go. Like if there's ever a horse that I promise you would never run off,

40:19

it's Ethel. Like there's no want to expel any more energy than she has to.

40:25

And so that was fun cuz I rode four times this past week. Yeah. Wow.

40:30

We're getting back in. Back in the sice back in. Yes. Both times. Ethel. You want to ride

40:36

Sophie? I don't know. Why not? I mean, I do, but

40:44

it just wasn't the most like comfy. She watched She watched Ra. She's actually comfy. It's that if you don't

40:52

make her work, it looks ugly from the outside, but it feels better. Uh Rachel wrote her one day while I was out of

40:58

town and she was going to ride her and Sophie had a day where she was like and so Rachel got off and was like, "I

41:04

wouldn't today." Okay. I'm not going to um So, she was fine the other night

41:10

though. I had like just like that's one thing that I've been trying to do for myself is like not everything has to be

41:15

filmed. Not everything has to be shared. And I think that's one thing that kind of kept me from just going and riding

41:22

for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, trotting around was that like, you know, I get in

41:28

the mode where like everything has to be planned. Everything has to be, you know, something

41:34

and I I very much just miss writing. And that's the thing, like all my broodmares are just like out of shape. They don't

41:40

need to be ridden for 30 minutes, 45 minutes. They just need to be like, you know, flexed and trotted around and

41:46

building muscle slowly. And um so we have a few mayors that aren't pregnant this year. Like so next year some of

41:53

them might not even be rebred. Like Kennedy's going to stay open and I don't even know if Graciey's going to be rebred and I don't you know so we can

41:59

get them back going and have them you know ready to ride. So um when she's not pregnant Raven I would

42:07

be interested in that too. Raven's a good one. Raven's really safe. So the new mayor I don't

42:12

even know if she's broke. Yeah. She's only four and part of that

42:18

time she's been pregnant. So, well, so then I guess we will have to

42:26

like train her. Oh, you that's what your That's where your brain goes. Yeah.

42:33

So that we can ride her. She can just be pretty and carry babies. She's a reset

42:39

mayor for a reason at four years old. She could be have a screw loose. Well, maybe somebody just needs to have

42:45

the right screwdriver to tighten it back up. Exactly. She could be. I don't know. I don't know this girl. At

42:52

the time that we're filming this, I haven't even met her. Uh she ain't even here yet.

42:57

I bet she's There was some time travel in this video. So, y'all have met her and I haven't even met her. Um, so I She She

43:04

looked sweet in the videos. She just stood there. Yeah. I so uh when whenever this happens

43:10

cuz I purchased an embryo from a marinating waffle house who added another world championship to her belt today.

43:15

Really? Um I I told the the resip farm I said,

43:21

"Hey, just you know, if you could give me one that's halter broke because I bring all my mares in at night." Some I

43:27

mean some of them literally have you have to have like a catch lead on them at all times cuz they're unhandled. Yeah. I've I've fortunately not had one like

43:34

that. like Phoebe was a little feral but not bad. Um and so I was like please just give me one that's halter halter

43:41

broke and we just got lucky with a beautiful palamino and um I noticed on her cogans it said she was four

43:48

and she's grayed so she's not registered. If she was registered at one point like they don't have her papers so

43:54

we don't know what she I mean I'm assuming she's full quarter horse. She looks like she looks like a little

43:59

chunky version of Gracie or not chunkier version. Oh, no, no, no. Just a

44:05

a yellow a yellow version of Gracie. They They both got that like canyon in

44:10

between their butt cheeks. It's just like holds water. Um but anyway, I feel like we've

44:17

we've done this. Chatted a lot. So, we're going to just go ahead and end this. We got a lot of

44:24

packing to do. We got to leave here in like 36 hours. Anyway,

44:29

hope y'all have fun. Ready? I'm ready. Anyway, thank you all for watching. Let us know what else you

44:35

would like to hear about and I'll see you in the next one.
