Speaker AEric G. Welcome to the around the House Show.
Speaker AI'm Eric G. This is your source for everyday home improvement advice.
Speaker AStuff that you can really use day in and day out.
Speaker AHappy Midweek Update.
Speaker AThis is our update that we put out each and every week in the middle of the week to give you an update of what's going on.
Speaker AOf course, the stuff that didn't fit into last week's show and the stuff that's not fitting into this weekend show.
Speaker AAnd I've got a lot to talk about today.
Speaker AWe've been really busy over here at the around the House show and getting a lot done.
Speaker AWe've got a bunch going on.
Speaker AFirst off, thank you to all you that have went over and checked out our holiday list.
Speaker AI'll be putting up another one here shortly.
Speaker AWe've been just trying to put up with some quick ideas for you, our viewers, our listeners, depending on what format you catch us on here.
Speaker AI really enjoy trying to help you guys out if you're stumped over the holidays.
Speaker AWhat do I get, Mom?
Speaker AWhat do I get dad?
Speaker AWhat do I get my brother, my wife, whatever this is for you, see if we can help you get some stuff.
Speaker AAnd we've had a couple people go, hey, why is it always on Amazon?
Speaker ABecause there are so many different stores across the country.
Speaker AWe are just basically worldwide now.
Speaker AOf course, we've got radio stations in 32 plus states across the country and we are on pace now to be the largest home improvement show on the radio.
Speaker AIt's really cool and how we're growing fast.
Speaker AAnd that is special thanks to the unfortunate things that happened over at the Money Pit with the passing of Tom and those guys over there.
Speaker AMy heart has always gone out to them to be going through this difficult time, but they are ending that show on my birthday this year on December 27th.
Speaker ASo that is the last show of their run of probably 25 plus years.
Speaker ASo my hats go off to those guys and their show over there and I wish them all well and my thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's family.
Speaker AIt's got to be tough shutting that stuff down and do all that.
Speaker ASomething that has to be just an ongoing nightmare and I just Feel bad for those guys.
Speaker ABut unfortunately, in radio, when somebody bows out, somebody bows in.
Speaker AAnd we've been very gifted to get a lot of those stations that have been going over to us.
Speaker ANot everyone, of course, but we've been growing rapidly this month on our station count across the country.
Speaker AAnd we're on pace right now to be number one.
Speaker ASo hopefully that just keeps going and we're looking good with that.
Speaker AYeah, there's a lot going on right now as far as the show, which is really exciting.
Speaker AAnd so we've got a lot of great stuff happening out there.
Speaker AYeah, we've got a lot of different ways people catch us here, but you can always check out that list over@aroundthehouseonline.com.
Speaker Athere's been this big controversy over the last few months of the east wing of the White House being torn down.
Speaker AAnd we're not gonna get into the politics of this, but being that my dad worked for the US Government and worked in some very secret things, one thing that I learned from my dad is they hide things right in front of our eyes.
Speaker AAnd that's one of the things that I've realized to maybe take a fresh look at what's going on with the east wing of the White House.
Speaker AIf all of a sudden construction crews showed up there with excavators and hauling dirt and they were building something out there, there would be a big public outcry to see what the plans are.
Speaker AIn today's media age, there would be Freedom of Information act stuff that they would have to.
Speaker AAnd anything secret at that location would be out there so quickly because of all that.
Speaker ASo let's think about this from a realistic thing.
Speaker AI get the people are upset, but keep in mind that east wing was a 1900s and 1940s,'50s kind of thing.
Speaker AIt was not part of the original historic White House.
Speaker AAnd if you noticed one thing when they're tearing down that if you look at the pictures, that is not a normal building that was built.
Speaker ASo let's dive into that for a minute.
Speaker AIf you grab any of the pictures, and I'm talking nothing crazy here, cnn, Fox News, whatever.
Speaker AYou're grabbing that from, whatever your media choice is.
Speaker ATake a look at the construction, look past the excavators and the jackhammers and see what they had to tear down.
Speaker AThat thing was built like a bunker.
Speaker AThat thing had I beams holding up the roof that look like what would be under an interstate overpass.
Speaker ASo what does that tell you?
Speaker AThat building was built hell for Stout.
Speaker AAnd there was obviously a little more going on there than what anyone anticipated.
Speaker AYeah, there was a, of course a bomb shelter of some kind in there because they put them around in that.
Speaker AI get it.
Speaker ABut here's what I'm thinking.
Speaker AIf we were going to hide something pretty secret, maybe it's a new bomb shelter, maybe it's a new larger underground system in there.
Speaker AWhat's the way to do it?
Speaker ATo have the President have publicly funded dollars coming from donations that have no government oversight to take it so the media can't find out what the White House is building secretly underneath this.
Speaker AAnd maybe they're just hiding some of that for our better good so that the people in China, Russia or anybody else that wants to wish harm upon us doesn't really get to understand and see what's going on underneath.
Speaker ANow if that was just a simple two story building, I'm not sure if we'd see a tower crane there for a two story building.
Speaker AIf that was way deep in the ground.
Speaker AAnd they're going to be doing a lot of digging.
Speaker AIt's going to be interesting to see what happens.
Speaker AI have a gut hunch that there's going to be some bigger ways to make sure that you can't see what's going on there.
Speaker ABecause I got a feeling we're going to see some serious digging in that site.
Speaker ASo they're either going to build a building across the top and then inside be digging out, or they're going to block off some places like the Washington Monument so you can't see out that top little glass window that way or something like that.
Speaker AYou're going to see some of things to obscure what's really going on.
Speaker AThat way they can build what they want to build under the COVID of it's privately funded and we'll see what happens.
Speaker AI'm just happy it's not public funds paying for it.
Speaker ABut to be honest, if they were building something underneath there for the safety of our elected officials, I have no problem with our government dollars going into that.
Speaker ABut that's kind of what I'm thinking.
Speaker AI'm watching this going, you know something, this is what they do when they have to hide something like that.
Speaker AYou've got something for half the country to be mad about and they'll complain about the building and the ballroom, but really underneath there's probably a whole lot more going on and we probably have no idea and won't have an idea until after that thing gets torn down in another few hundred years and replaced with something else.
Speaker ASo that's my take on that, guys, I think that's going to be an interesting one.
Speaker AWe're not getting into conspiracy theories here, but this is how the US government tends to hide things.
Speaker AAnd I would not be shocked to see there's a little more going on in that construction than we'll ever know.
Speaker AIf you don't live in the Pacific Northwest like we do up here.
Speaker AI tell you what, we have been getting hammered with rain, flooding.
Speaker AMy friends to the north where I used to live in Seattle, north and south of that, they've been getting crushed.
Speaker AOur turn is this week.
Speaker AWe got it hard but not like they did.
Speaker AThe last little bit of the storm went north and that pushed them over the edge.
Speaker AAnd I think that's what's going to happen to us this week.
Speaker AWe'll see what happens.
Speaker AWe had lots of different stuff planned for this week.
Speaker AIn the nights we're going to have everything from, you know, inches and inches.
Speaker AI got a gut hunch by between Tuesday and Friday this week we're going to get 4 to 6 inches of rain here in the Portland metro area where I am and we've got a mixture up in the mountains.
Speaker ASo we have snow, we have rain, we have snow.
Speaker AWhenever we get a couple feet of snow and we get rain on top of that's in the 50 degrees.
Speaker AI was driving around today and it was 61 degrees in my truck here mid morning.
Speaker APretty crazy here on Tuesdays when I'm doing my stuff.
Speaker ABut really it's going to be a little crazy out there.
Speaker ASo if all of you that are in my area, be a little careful here.
Speaker AI think over the next couple days we're going to have flooding, power outages, that stuff with winds and stuff.
Speaker ASo let's just.
Speaker AOr soil is so soaked right now that it's not going to take much to blow trees over.
Speaker AI think we could be working into another one of those major flooding events if everything goes wrong, which it usually does when you say it that way.
Speaker ABut it's one of those things that if that storm comes a little bit north, which I have a gut hunch at night we could have a serious issue here like what we see in Washington going on.
Speaker AWe could be next.
Speaker ASo you guys be careful out there.
Speaker AWe've got some of the most interesting weather in the country here with just 50s in the mountains where it should be three or four feet of snow and there's nothing.
Speaker AIt's going to be interesting to see if we even get winter or do we get crushed later on this year.
Speaker ABut to Me going to bed at night and almost having to turn the AC on because it's in the almost 70 degrees outside and it's over 70 in the house.
Speaker AStrange for December here where usually we're out there scraping ice.
Speaker ASo it's going to be a little bit interesting there.
Speaker ASo guys, be careful out there.
Speaker AIt's the holiday season.
Speaker APlan ahead.
Speaker AWhen you're traveling here over the holidays, just take your time, bring your stuff with you.
Speaker ASo you've got a emergency kit in your car, those kind of things.
Speaker AHave some extra food, have some water, have some blankets.
Speaker AJust be prepared for the conditions out there and make sure that you've got the.
Speaker AYou're driving a car that's going to be good for the weather you're driving in and that's going to be key right there.
Speaker AWe're going to have a great show coming up this weekend.
Speaker AAnother brand new show the following weekend on the 27th.
Speaker AThat's my birthday.
Speaker AI'm taking that day off.
Speaker AWe're going to be doing a best of show for you guys, for all the new people out there listening.
Speaker AWe've got a whole bunch of new listeners out there.
Speaker ASo what we're going to do is we're going to run a best of 2025 for the last episode of the year to highlight some of the stuff that maybe you haven't heard.
Speaker AAnd traditionally that's our lowest weekend of people tuning in.
Speaker ASo we'll save it for the next one for a brand new one because we're going to be starting out with dozens, maybe over a hundred stations.
Speaker AWho knows, catching us on the radio on the first weekend of January.
Speaker ASo we want to make sure and start out with something super fresh and have a great 2026 moving forward.
Speaker AWe got some great stuff happening this year and I can't wait to share it with you.
Speaker AIt's going to be a lot of fun.
Speaker AAll right, everybody, I'm going to get going here so we can get this show out the door to you, our friends.
Speaker AHappy holidays.
Speaker AMerry Christmas to all you guys.
Speaker AGreat show coming up this weekend.
Speaker AEnjoy this time with family.
Speaker AMaybe be intentional this time of year with your family.
Speaker AEnjoy it, be present.
Speaker AThat is my goal for this year to really focus on that.
Speaker AAll right, guys, have a great rest of the week.
