Speaker CThis is the Executive Perspective.
Speaker AHey, what's up, champions?
Speaker AThis is your host, Neal Reyes, and I want to welcome you back to the Executive Perspective.
Speaker AToday we're going to be talking about a fire topic that I think is extremely important to all high performers.
Speaker AAnd that's the difference between big dreams, big and big ideas.
Speaker AAgain, today, we're going to be talking about the difference between big Dreams and big ideas.
Speaker AYou know, this podcast focuses on three main areas.
Speaker AI say this in every episode we do.
Speaker AWe focus on leadership, business strategy, and personal development.
Speaker AAnd our topic today, just like all of our topics, cover every area of that touchdown on every area of that, but it also can be applied in every area of your life.
Speaker AThere's a difference between having big dreams and big ideas.
Speaker AWe're going to break that down.
Speaker AAnd first of all, what I want to tell you is this is not a comparison.
Speaker AThat one's better than the other.
Speaker AThey are both very, very needed.
Speaker ABut I will also tell you, though, that there's right times or right seasons for both, and both will require different things of you.
Speaker ABut sometimes I see people who are living life out of balance.
Speaker AI'll see people who have big dreams, but they're not connecting it with big ideas.
Speaker AOr I have people who connect.
Speaker AThey have big ideas, but they stopped dreaming a long time ago, and they're just kind of living life through the motions.
Speaker AThey're all on what I call the treadmill of life.
Speaker AWe have other podcasts that we have dedicated specifically to the Treadmill of Life, but it's just where they're just running in place in the same time and they're not really gaining anything.
Speaker AThere's no fulfillment in that.
Speaker AToday we're going to break down the difference of that between.
Speaker AThe difference between big dreams, big, big ideas.
Speaker AThe first thing I want to go into is big dreams define the destination.
Speaker AI'm going to say that again.
Speaker ABig dreams define the destination.
Speaker AYou know, back in the day before we had digital maps, like, whether it be, you know, Google Maps or Waze or Apple Maps or any other map things that are out there, you actually had to pull out a map if you were going to take a road trip, especially in the United States.
Speaker ASo you knew how to get from point A to point B.
Speaker AIn other words, whatever city you were wanting to travel to, you had to know exactly where that was.
Speaker AAnd as you had these maps or an atlas even, you had to be able to track, you know, what highway am I going to travel on and what exit am I going to take to go?
Speaker AThen connect with the next highway and head the next direction I need to go.
Speaker AAnd nowadays you just plug in wherever your destination is and you hit go.
Speaker AAnd it's just going to tell you step by step how to get there.
Speaker AIn fact, I will tell you, if you live in really big cities, like I live in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, it's a really big city.
Speaker AAnd even When I lived in San Antonio, Texas, prior to that.
Speaker AWe've learned to use our maps, our map apps, our map apps, for years.
Speaker ABecause even though we knew where we were going, those map apps helped us to be able to read something the real maps wouldn't.
Speaker AAnd that was traffic conditions.
Speaker AAnd it would help us know which areas.
Speaker AYou know, there might have been a route we normally would take, but if that's real congested and a lot of traffic and it's going to take longer, then it might route me a different way, an alternate location way, so that I could get to the same location or destination but get there a whole lot quicker and a whole lot more efficiently.
Speaker AWell, what I'm going to tell you is that dreams can be much like that in life.
Speaker ADreams help to define the destination.
Speaker ADreaming is important.
Speaker AAnd what I'm going to encourage you is that everybody should dream.
Speaker AAnd you shouldn't just dream little, but you should dream big.
Speaker AAnd if you have something that has dropped on the inside of you in your heart, and it's living in your life and it even feels like this thing.
Speaker AAnd when I say living, you know, things are living because they're growing.
Speaker AAnd if you have this thing in your life and it feels like it's growing and getting bigger than you can contain, then that's what I refer to as a dream from God.
Speaker AIt's something that he's placed in there.
Speaker AAnd if that dream scares you a little bit because you're not sure how you're going to do it, it's definitely from God.
Speaker AIf that dream seems bigger than what you're capable of doing, or if it's evident that it's going to require more resources than what you currently have to give, then that's definitely a dream from God.
Speaker AAnd someone might say, well, why is God doing that?
Speaker AWhy is he.
Speaker AThat makes me so uncomfortable.
Speaker AWhy is he giving that?
Speaker ADoes he want to see me fail?
Speaker AHe doesn't want to see you fail.
Speaker ABut when God places his dreams inside of you, his dreams are so big, no one can understand the depth of them.
Speaker ABut if he's giving you a dream, he'll also meet you and give you the resources.
Speaker AWhether that's the skills, or if it's the abilities, or if it's the resources and money or time that you need, or investors, he'll show you how to do it.
Speaker ABut you got to take actions and steps to make sure that you do that.
Speaker AThose dreams are something that won't go away.
Speaker AThose are things that at the end, when you have to stand before him, you're going to have to give an account of and you're either going to have to tell them about what you did with that dream or how you squandered it and didn't.
Speaker AAnd if people are like, yeah, but I wanted to, but I never had all the right resources, then you doubted his ability to help you with that dream.
Speaker AAnd, and you're going to have to give an account for your doubting.
Speaker ABut you don't want to be that person.
Speaker AAnd if you're connecting here at the executive perspective, then we already know you're a high performer.
Speaker AAnd I want to encourage and remind you that you got greatness on the inside of you and I believe in you, champion you have greatness on the inside of you.
Speaker AYou just have to cultivate it, grow it and develop it and bring it on the outside so others can see it as well.
Speaker ASo big dreams define the destination.
Speaker ADreams.
Speaker ADreams are about vision.
Speaker AThey fuel passion and they give direction.
Speaker AI'm going to say it again.
Speaker ADreams are about vision, having vision to do something.
Speaker AThey fuel passion and they give direction.
Speaker AThat's why dreams are so important.
Speaker AAnd for people who have stopped dreaming in life, you need to pick those dreams back up.
Speaker AIf you've been beat up, knocked around or knocked down, you need to get up, you need to dust yourself off and you need to keep on keeping on.
Speaker AYou need to get back on that dream.
Speaker ABecause that dream that you had inside of you, and while it's important to you, especially if it's a God given dream, there's someone waiting on the other side of your obedience for you to fulfill that thing.
Speaker ABecause they need to connect with whatever that thing is you're supposed to do.
Speaker AWhether if it's the next great invention, if it's the next great product, if it's the next great movie or novel or writing or active work of literature, whatever it is, whether if it's content you're supposed to create, you know, maybe you're like, well, I just want to do makeup tutorials.
Speaker AI'm sure there's a lot of people out there in life who would like to know how to put their makeup on better.
Speaker AAnd you can help them with that, or you can help show them what the right brands are to use or the right things that you like using that you favor and why.
Speaker ABecause maybe they're better for your skin or whatever that is, or for you.
Speaker AMaybe it's fitness, maybe you have a inside of you, you have a fitness channel designed inside of you.
Speaker AOr maybe you Have a fitness gym or a fitness line.
Speaker AYou know, maybe you have a line of protein bars or meals or something like that, but you've got something living on the inside of you.
Speaker AWell, that dream that you have, that dream.
Speaker ADreams are about vision.
Speaker ABut that dream that you have growing inside of you, that'll also help you feel your passion, and it'll also help to give you direct.
Speaker AWhy is that?
Speaker AWhat do I mean by direction with the dream?
Speaker AWell, have you envisioned building or making protein bars, for example?
Speaker AThen you're probably not going to go out and try and open up a donut shop.
Speaker AThose are kind of vastly different.
Speaker ABut if you know it's protein bars, well, now you have direction.
Speaker AAnd now you get to start.
Speaker AAs you start seeking the Lord for direction, or you start taking the steps you need to, you begin to gain clarity.
Speaker ANow here's our first leadership truth bomb of the day.
Speaker AYour dream is the why that keeps you going when it gets hard.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AYour dream is the why that keeps you going when it gets hard.
Speaker AYou know, I'm a firm believer in God.
Speaker AThat's evident on this show.
Speaker AAnd if you're not a believer, that's totally okay.
Speaker ABut for me, I'm a firm believer in God, and I'm constantly listening for the voice of God within my life to help me with direction, instruction, and understanding of where I'm supposed to be going and what I'm supposed to be doing.
Speaker ABut, you know, in this world, there's a lot of competing voices that are out there as well.
Speaker AIt's what I refer to as noise.
Speaker ABut if you let the wrong voices in, that can steer you off course dramatically in a very fast time frame.
Speaker AYou know, in life today, and this is just the way it is.
Speaker ABut in life today, there are so many voices on life that are screaming at you.
Speaker AUnfortunately, most people have developed the attention span where they're only listening to the loudest voice that's screaming.
Speaker AAnd I'm going to tell you that while there's the voice of God that's available for you to hear, sometimes his voice is still, it's subtle, and it can be quiet at times.
Speaker ABut when you have the world screaming at you and if you listen to the wrong voice, you'll go down the wrong path and you'll do the wrong things.
Speaker AYour dream is your why that keeps you going when it gets hard.
Speaker AThe reason why I talk about the voices and I talk about the dreams being your why.
Speaker AThis is why so many times in life, when you're supposed to do something.
Speaker AAnd especially it's big when that thing takes a little while to show up.
Speaker AThere are other voices that show up as well.
Speaker AAnd oftentimes they're the voice of discouragement, they're the voices of discontent, they're the voices of disbelief or, or self doubting.
Speaker AAnd when those voices show up, sometimes they can be really loud and they can lead to feelings of hopelessness or like you're never going to amount to much.
Speaker AWell, what I want to tell you is that when those voices get the loudest within your life, that's evidence that you're getting ready to experience your greatest breakthrough.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AWhen those negative voices show up the loudest within life, that's evidence that you're getting ready to have your greatest breakthroughs.
Speaker AUnless those voices are people who are around you who are just extremely negative and extremely toxic, then maybe you just need some new crew to hang around with.
Speaker ABut oftentimes those aren't the people who are talking to you like that.
Speaker AThose are the voices you hear inside.
Speaker AAnd you need to know how to overcome that.
Speaker AAnd your dream, your dream can be your why.
Speaker AAnd you have to hang on to your why so you know what your destination is.
Speaker ANow, the next thing I want to talk to you about is big ideas create the roadmap.
Speaker ASo remember earlier we started off talking about that.
Speaker AOur subject today, our topic today was the difference between big dreams and big ideas.
Speaker AWell, big ideas help create the roadmap.
Speaker AIdeas are the how.
Speaker ASo dreams are the why, but ideas are the how.
Speaker AIdeas are the how.
Speaker AThey're the strategies and innovations that make the dream possible.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AIdeas are the how.
Speaker AThey're the strategies and innovations that make the dream possible.
Speaker AYou know, if you're going to go out and do something and you want to accomplish something, you're going to have to know the how.
Speaker AYou know, if you look at things like YouTube, for example, some of the most prominent videos that are out there, and the videos with the most likes or the most views or the most clicks, those are the ones that are the how to videos, how to do whatever it is.
Speaker AI mean, nowadays you can learn just about anything on YouTube because somebody has created a channel or a video out there.
Speaker AWhether you need to go and work on your car, maybe you need to change your spark plugs, or you need to change your oil, and maybe you don't want to take it somewhere, you want to do it on your own.
Speaker AThere's a how to Video out there for your model.
Speaker AI guarantee it.
Speaker AYou know the other thing too?
Speaker AOh, I have a guest in the studio today.
Speaker AOne of my dogs, Ollie is with us today.
Speaker ASo if you hear Ollie or see Ollie walking in the background, he's our special guest in the studio today.
Speaker AThat being said, though, you know, there are how to videos for everything.
Speaker AIf there's a special cake you want to make or if there's a special recipe you want to make, there's probably a how to video out there on YouTube that exists.
Speaker ASo again, dreams are the why.
Speaker ABut ideas, great ideas, they're the how.
Speaker AHere's another leadership truth bomb for you today.
Speaker ADreams inspire.
Speaker AIdeas cultivate.
Speaker ASimple.
Speaker DBut I'm going to say that again.
Speaker ADreams inspire, ideas cultivate.
Speaker AThat brings us to our third point of the day.
Speaker AAnd our third point is action is the great equalizer.
Speaker AMan, I could park and camp on this, just this today, all day to day.
Speaker AAction is the equalizer.
Speaker AAnother way you could say it is Action is the great equalizer.
Speaker AMan, it doesn't matter whether you have a dream or whether you have a great idea.
Speaker AAction is the equalizer.
Speaker AIt is so significant and it's so important.
Speaker AA dream without action, just a wish.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AA dream without action, it's just a wish.
Speaker AAn idea without execution, that's just noise.
Speaker AI'm going to say it again.
Speaker AAn idea without execution, that's just noise.
Speaker AA dream without action is just a wish.
Speaker AAnd an idea without execution is just noise.
Speaker AI'm going to tell you that action is the great equalizer.
Speaker AThis is what separates the greats from the people who you don't know at all.
Speaker AMan.
Speaker DI'm going to say it again.
Speaker AAction is what separates the greats from the people you don't know at all.
Speaker AYou know, if you go by a cemetery or you go by a graveyard and you walk through there cemeteries, man, they're places that are filled.
Speaker AThose are the richest environments in all of earth.
Speaker ABut unfortunately, those are the environments that are rich with ideas, they're rich with inventions, they're rich with creativity, they're rich with ideas or books or movies or acts of literature.
Speaker AWhether that's poetry or something.
Speaker AThere's amazing businesses that were in there.
Speaker AThere's amazing inventions that are out there, things that could change the world.
Speaker AHow about this?
Speaker AThere's cures that are in the graveyard.
Speaker AWhat I mean by that, There are people who have died that they had inside of them.
Speaker AThe next great cure to cure some of the most significant illness that had been known throughout time.
Speaker ABut because they didn't take action, all those things followed them to the grave.
Speaker AWhether if it's because they didn't believe in themselves or they didn't believe in the dream that God had given them, or they just didn't believe.
Speaker AMaybe they knew that that thing that they had, that it was the next great thing, but they didn't believe they were the right person to do it.
Speaker AThey didn't think they were the right person to fulfill it.
Speaker AGuys, I'm telling you, this is so significant right here.
Speaker AAction is the great equalizer.
Speaker ANow, the fourth thing that that brings us to today is knowing which one you need right now is the key.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AYou know, at the beginning, we talked about that.
Speaker AOur topic today is the difference between big ideas and big dreams, or big dreams and big ideas, however you want to say it.
Speaker AAnd I also said that both are very, very important.
Speaker ABoth are very, very needed.
Speaker ABut knowing which one you need right now is the key, because you need both in life.
Speaker AYou don't want to live through life with a bunch of big dreams, but you don't have big ideas to back it.
Speaker AAnd you don't want to have a bunch of big ideas, but you have no dream.
Speaker AYou need to have dreams, and you need to have idea.
Speaker ASometimes you need to reignite your dreams.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker ASometimes you need to reignite your dreams.
Speaker ASometimes your dreams, they may feel like they're gone or they're faded, but you just need to breathe some life back into them.
Speaker AYou know, if you've ever started a campfire or if you've ever had a fireplace and you've lit a fire, what happens after a while is if you're not stoking the fire or you're not putting new wood on.
Speaker AYou know, when you put wood on, sometimes the fire looks like it's burning down, but you just got to stoke it a little bit.
Speaker AYou got to poke it with the poker, and as you do, and it breaks up some of the wood or some of the embers, the fire comes back out, the flame, and the fire gets big again.
Speaker ABut if you let that thing just simmer and stay there too long, it'll just start to die out.
Speaker ABut sometimes you got to breathe new life in it.
Speaker AWhat do I mean by that?
Speaker AWell, if you have a fire, sometimes you can throw a new log on, but the new log doesn't start burning.
Speaker ASo you got to breathe some life into it.
Speaker AYou got to get the poker and you got to poke it and move some of those embers around to get some heat going.
Speaker ABut then the way you fuel it is literally by blowing in it.
Speaker AYou blow in it a little bit.
Speaker ANot like you're trying to blow out a candle, but good luck, it's a fire.
Speaker ABut as you blow into it, it causes that thing to give life to it.
Speaker AIt grows.
Speaker AAnd as that flame sparks and takes off, now you have a fire again.
Speaker ABecause the new woods burning, that new logs burning, and you've stoked that thing back up.
Speaker AWell, dreams are much the same way.
Speaker AYou have to be able to treat your dreams the same.
Speaker AYou got to keep your dreams alive.
Speaker ABut at the same time, if you have a dream that has faded or feels like it's gone, you need to reignite the dream.
Speaker AAnd you need to remember why There was a why.
Speaker AYour dreams help to connect with your why.
Speaker AThey keep your why alive.
Speaker ABut you have to remember why you wanted that dream.
Speaker AWhy is that important?
Speaker AAnd what I will tell you is at different times through life or different seasons, what was real important to you at one point may not be real important to you again.
Speaker ABut your dreams are things you don't let go of.
Speaker AThe dreams are things that you fight for.
Speaker AYou got to fight to reignite them and keep them alive.
Speaker ANow, sometimes you need to stop dreaming and you got to start building.
Speaker DI'm going to say that again.
Speaker ASometimes you got to stop dreaming and you got to start building.
Speaker AYou know, so many times you have people who, they are big at dreaming and they're active dreamers.
Speaker AThey have a bunch of dreams written down, but they're dreamers and they're not taking any action.
Speaker ASo they're just a dreamer.
Speaker AYou don't want to be known as a dreamer in life.
Speaker AThere's nothing wrong with being a dreamer.
Speaker ABut a dreamer without action, that's just a dreamer.
Speaker AYou got to.
Speaker ASometimes you need to stop dreaming and start building.
Speaker AAnd here's a better way of saying it, because I don't want to tell people, stop dreaming, but here's what I mean by that.
Speaker ASometimes you have to not stop dreaming, but you got to transform the dream into reality.
Speaker AAnd the connector, the bridge for that is you got to start building.
Speaker AYou got to take some action and you got to start building.
Speaker AThere are times in life where you need to shift from just dreaming to doing, from dreaming to building, so that you can bring that dream to life.
Speaker AAnd here's our final leadership truth bomb of the day.
Speaker AVision without strategy drifts.
Speaker AStrategy without vision dies.
Speaker AWhoo I'm going to say that again.
Speaker AVision without strategy can drift, but strategy without vision, that can die.
Speaker AMan, that's a big one right there, guys.
Speaker AIf there's something on the inside of you that you have longed to see fulfilled, if there's a dream that you have in you, and remember, like I said earlier, it may feel too big for you, it may feel like it's too big for you, or you don't know how to do it, or you don't even have the resources or time to do it.
Speaker AThat's what I refer to as a God dream.
Speaker AAnd if this is just something that's a great idea and you thought about that, man, this is amazing.
Speaker ABut then it turns around and fades and goes elsewhere and you never think of it again, then that's an idea.
Speaker ABut that's not a dream.
Speaker ABut if it's something that's deep down on the inside of you, and it seems like this thing just won't let go of you, and it even feels like it's bursting you at the seams, like you're gonna burst at the seams if you don't give life to this thing that's a living dream that's inside of you, and those are the ones that you have to stay on.
Speaker AThose are the ones that you got to keep lit and you got to combine with action so that you can start building that thing.
Speaker AAnd even if you got to start small, that's okay, but you got to start somewhere.
Speaker ABut here's the kicker.
Speaker AIf you never start, you'll never finish.
Speaker AOh, I'm going to say that again.
Speaker AIf you never start, you can never finish.
Speaker AYou have to keep those things alive, and you have to fight for those things, because those are your dreams.
Speaker AThey're not someone else's dream.
Speaker AThose are your dreams.
Speaker AAnd if you share your dreams with someone else and they don't know how to receive them, or they kind of step on them and stomp on them and put them out and try to put them down, that's just because their faith inside wasn't big enough to contain that dream that you have.
Speaker ARemember, I tell you all the time, champion, that I believe in you, and I believe you have greatness on the inside of you.
Speaker AYou just have to continue to cultivate it, build it and develop it, grow it and develop it, and then bring it on the other outside so others can see it as well, and then go smash whatever that thing is you're supposed to do.
Speaker AWhen you share your dreams with others and they don't know how to handle it, and they abuse it or mistreat it or don't value it.
Speaker AIt's just because it's not connecting with the greatness that's inside of them.
Speaker AIt's connecting with the greatness that's inside of you.
Speaker ABut when you build that thing and bring it to life and that thing takes off, and on this podcast, we focus on one direction here at the executive perspective, and that's forward and upward.
Speaker AWhen that thing takes off forward and upwards, those people who you tried sharing your dream with, they may not be even your ideal customer or your ideal avatar or your ideal client or demographic.
Speaker ABut that doesn't mean there's not someone out there who's waiting for that thing that you're about to create.
Speaker AWhatever that dream is you have inside of you.
Speaker ADon't stop, don't quit.
Speaker ADon't let age or something like that be a limitator or a factor that limits you from doing what you're supposed to do.
Speaker AYou need to keep on keeping on and develop that greatness that lives inside of you Guys, I want to thank you for taking time to stop by and grow with us today.

Speaker AI want to help people.
Speaker AAnd when I create these podcasts, I believe I'm putting great material in there, but I want to get it in the hands of others.
Speaker AI don't want to get, I want to give.
Speaker AIn other words, I'm not doing it to get, I'm doing it to give.
Speaker AI'm trying to get something in the hands of others so that they can connect with the things that I've learned in life, the things that the Lord has shown me and that I've grown in life.
Speaker AAnd they can apply it in their circumstances of their life.
Speaker AAnd maybe it just adds hope, or maybe it adds some education and instruction, but it helps them to connect with their best life, their best performance, and their best life.
Speaker AGuys, until we next time, I want to thank you for stopping by to grow with us.
