Speaker 2 00:00:52
Welcome to Bible Bites, the podcast where we work to inspire faith.
Speaker 2 00:00:57
One bite at a time.
Speaker 2 00:00:59
I'm your host, Randy Black.
Speaker 2 00:01:01
And on today's episode, we start our second series of lessons here on the podcast.
Speaker 2 00:01:06
This series is on women found in the Bible.
Speaker 2 00:01:11
The creation of woman is a pivotal moment in the biblical narrative, highlighting God's design for companionship, unity, and purpose in human relationships
Speaker 2 00:01:24
In Genesis chapter 2, verses 18 through 25, we see God recognizing that it is not good for man to be alone, leading to the formation of Eve
Speaker 2 00:01:37
This passage of scripture provides deep insight into the divine intent for marriage, partnership, and the role of women in God's creation
Speaker 2 00:01:49
As we do each episode, let's open up with a word of prayer.
Speaker 2 00:01:54
Heavenly Father, we come before you today with gratitude for your perfect design and creation.
Speaker 2 00:02:03
As we study the creation of woman, help us to understand your purpose for relationships and the beauty of unity.
Speaker 2 00:02:12
Open our hearts to receive wisdom from your word, and may we apply these truths in our own lives.
Speaker 2 00:02:20
In Jesus' name we pray.
Speaker 2 00:02:23
Amen.
Speaker 3 00:02:36
Genesis chapter two, verses eighteen through twenty-five.
Speaker 3 00:02:43
Then the Lord God said, It is not good for the man to be alone, I will make him a helper, suitable for him.
Speaker 3 00:02:49
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the sky.
Speaker 3 00:02:55
And brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and whatever the man called a living creature.
Speaker 3 00:03:00
That was its name.
Speaker 3 00:03:02
The man gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field.
Speaker 3 00:03:08
But for Adam there was not found a
Speaker 3 00:03:10
Helper suitable for him.
Speaker 3 00:03:15
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept.
Speaker 3 00:03:19
Then he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
Speaker 3 00:03:23
And the Lord God fashioned into a
Speaker 3 00:03:25
woman the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
Speaker 3 00:03:29
Then the man said, At last this is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh.
Speaker 3 00:03:35
She shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.
Speaker 3 00:03:43
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Speaker 3 00:03:49
And the man and his wife were both naked, but they were not ashamed.
Speaker 2 00:03:57
This passage begins with God's recognition that it is not good for man to be alone.
Speaker 2 00:04:04
Throughout creation, everything God made was deemed good, but here we find something that was incomplete
Speaker 2 00:04:13
Adam, though surrounded by animals, had no suitable companion.
Speaker 2 00:04:19
This highlights humanity's need for relationship
Speaker 2 00:04:23
particularly one that reflects the depth of companionship found in God's own nature.
Speaker 2 00:04:31
God's formation of Eve is unique compared to the rest of creation
Speaker 2 00:04:37
While the animals were formed from the ground, Eve was made from Adam's rib
Speaker 2 00:04:45
This signifies her direct connection to him, neither above nor below, but beside him as an equal partner.
Speaker 2 00:04:55
The use of the term helper suitable for him does not imply inferiority, but rather a complementary role, fulfilling what was lacking in Adam
Speaker 2 00:05:09
When Adam first sees Eve, his response is one of recognition and joy.
Speaker 2 00:05:16
His words, bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, indicate a deep connection and unity between them
Speaker 2 00:05:26
This establishes the foundation for marriage, a covenant relationship ordained by God, where a man and woman are joined together as one flesh.
Speaker 2 00:05:40
The final verses in this passage emphasize the divine order of marriage.
Speaker 2 00:05:46
A man is to leave his family and be joined to his wife, forming a new and inseparable bond.
Speaker 2 00:05:54
This mirrors Christ's relationship with the Church, showing that
Speaker 2 00:06:01
Marriage is is not merely a human institution, but is a sacred reflection of God's love and unity
Speaker 2 00:06:13
We have a few key takeaways from this passage of scripture.
Speaker 2 00:06:19
Our first is that God designed humanity for relationship.
Speaker 2 00:06:25
God declared that it was not good for man to be alone, highlighting the fundamental human need for companionship
Speaker 2 00:06:33
Whether in marriage, family, friendships, or the church, relationships are part of God's divine plan.
Speaker 2 00:06:45
They offer support, encouragement, and opportunities for love and service
Speaker 2 00:06:53
Isolation can lead to loneliness and a lack of fulfillment.
Speaker 2 00:06:59
But God provides relationships to enrich our lives
Speaker 2 00:07:04
By embracing the connections God gives us, we reflect his relational nature.
Speaker 2 00:07:11
Our next takeaway was that Eve was created as a suitable helper.
Speaker 2 00:07:17
The word helper does not imply subservience, but rather a complementary partnership
Speaker 2 00:07:24
Eve was uniquely designed to be a counterpart to Adam, sharing in his purpose and his calling
Speaker 2 00:07:34
God intentionally made man and woman different yet equal, each with their own distinct strengths that contribute to a thriving relationship.
Speaker 2 00:07:48
A biblical partnership reflects teamwork, where both individuals bring their God-given gifts to fulfill his purpose
Speaker 2 00:07:58
When we view relationships in this way, we honor God's original design
Speaker 2 00:08:06
Our next takeaway is that marriage is a divine institution.
Speaker 2 00:08:12
The union of Adam and Eve set the precedent.
Speaker 2 00:08:17
for marriage as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman.
Speaker 2 00:08:23
Marriage is not merely a social contract
Speaker 2 00:08:26
But a spiritual bond reflects God's commitment to his people.
Speaker 2 00:08:31
In a healthy marriage, love, respect, and selflessness are at the core, aligning with God's design.
Speaker 2 00:08:40
This principle reminds us that strong marriages require intentional effort, trust, and faithfulness
Speaker 2 00:08:49
Honoring marriage as God intended leads to deeper joy and stability in relationships
Speaker 2 00:08:59
Our final takeaway is that unity in marriage mirrors God's relationship with his people.
Speaker 2 00:09:07
The phrase one flesh signifies deep unity and oneness in marriage, pointing to a greater spiritual truth
Speaker 2 00:09:15
Just as Christ and the Church are united in love and purpose, so should a husband and wife be.
Speaker 2 00:09:23
This unity is not just physical, but emotional and spiritual, requiring commitment.
Speaker 2 00:09:29
and growth.
Speaker 2 00:09:32
A strong marriage reflects God's love to the world and serves as a testimony of his faithfulness.
Speaker 2 00:09:40
By prioritizing unity, couples can build a relationship that glorifies God and withstands challenges
Speaker 2 00:09:53
Eve's creation teaches us about the importance of companionship in God's design.
Speaker 2 00:10:00
In today's world where independence is often celebrated, we must remember that God created us for relationships
Speaker 2 00:10:08
Whether in marriage, friendships, or community, we thrive when we live in connection with others
Speaker 2 00:10:18
This passage of Scripture reaffirms the value of women in God's plan.
Speaker 2 00:10:26
Eve was created with purpose, dignity, and equality.
Speaker 2 00:10:30
Throughout Scripture,
Speaker 2 00:10:32
We see God using both men and women to accomplish his divine purposes, reminding us that all are valuable in his sight
Speaker 2 00:10:43
Marriage as depicted here is more than a social contract.
Speaker 2 00:10:48
It is a sacred bond.
Speaker 2 00:10:52
This understanding helps us to approach relationships with reverence, with love, and with commitment
Speaker 2 00:11:00
It challenges us to build relationships based on mutual respect, selflessness, and God's guidance
Speaker 2 00:11:10
Moreover, Eve's role foreshadows the church's role as the bride of Christ
Speaker 2 00:11:19
Just as Eve was made for Adam, the church is made for Christ, to walk in unity, love, and faithfulness
Speaker 2 00:11:30
This encourages us to deepen our relationship with God, understanding that He desires closeness with His people.
Speaker 2 00:11:43
Let's close out our study of the Word with a word of prayer.
Speaker 2 00:11:49
Heavenly Father
Speaker 2 00:11:51
Thank you for revealing your wisdom and love through the creation of woman.
Speaker 2 00:11:56
Help us to honor your design in our relationships and to reflect your unity in our lives
Speaker 2 00:12:03
Teach us to walk in love, respect, and partnership, always seeking to glorify you.
Speaker 2 00:12:12
May our relationships mirror your perfect plan, and may we grow deeper in communion with you each day.
Speaker 2 00:12:21
In Jesus' name we pray.
Speaker 2 00:12:23
Amen.

Here at Bible Bites
Speaker 2 00:12:49
We operate our podcast under what's known as the value for value model.
Speaker 2 00:12:55
The hope is that with the work we do each week, we are providing value to you.
Speaker 2 00:13:01
And then you would then in turn provide value back to us.
Speaker 2 00:13:05
And that can come in three different forms, and we refer to those as time, talent, or treasure.
Speaker 2 00:13:11
Time is as simple as listening to the show each week.
Speaker 2 00:13:17
It could also be something as simple as taking the time to share the episode with someone else.
Speaker 2 00:13:23
Talent would be offering to assist us in some way with the show, be it to provide us with cover art images, to provide us with ideas for topics or scriptures to look at and examine and use.
Speaker 2 00:13:36
It could be
Speaker 2 00:13:37
Even taking the time to write out a lesson, a a topic, develop it, build a script for an episode of the show.
Speaker 2 00:13:46
And more most importantly, the one that could be the most fulfilling for some folks would be to step up and offer to actually take part in the show, to record with us and be a part of an episode.
Speaker 2 00:13:59
And then we have the form of treasure, and treasure by its name is typically considered something that is of financial value.
Speaker 2 00:14:07
And there are ways that you can support us in that way.
Speaker 2 00:14:10
One of those would be to listen in a modern podcast app.
Speaker 2 00:14:14
In a modern podcast app, you can connect a lightning wallet currently, or look there are other alternatives that are being worked on.
Speaker 2 00:14:21
And you can use that to then stream sat Satoshis, uh very, very small portions of Bitcoin, uh, to the to the show for what we do
Speaker 2 00:14:30
And you have control of what that amount is.
Speaker 2 00:14:32
You can stream 10 sats a minute.
Speaker 2 00:14:34
You can stream 500 sats a minute.
Speaker 2 00:14:36
It's all up to you.
Speaker 2 00:14:37
It's your choice.
Speaker 2 00:14:40
on the amount of value you feel that you've received.
Speaker 2 00:14:44
In those modern podcast apps, you can also send us what's called a boost.
Speaker 2 00:14:48
A boost is a one-time pledge of support in an amount of Satoshis, or a boost to gram.
Speaker 2 00:14:53
And we did receive a boostergram on our last episode.
Speaker 2 00:14:57
One of my friends out there in the podcasting 2.
Speaker 2 00:15:01
0 world and the value for value world, he goes under the the the name Salty Crayon.
Speaker 2 00:15:06
Salter Crayon sent in a a 777 sap boost to the show through CurioCaster, and he said
Speaker 2 00:15:14
I think I'll make these like my daily devotions.
Speaker 2 00:15:17
Thank you for that, Salty, and thank you for your support of the show.
Speaker 2 00:15:20
We appreciate it greatly
Speaker 2 00:15:22
That is just one example of someone sharing back value they received from the show.
Speaker 2 00:15:30
You can also head to our website on our value for value for value page there.
Speaker 2 00:15:34

Speaker 2 00:15:46
There are also links there to use Albi.
Speaker 2 00:15:49

Speaker 2 00:15:53
Strike allows you to connect your bank account.

Speaker 2 00:16:46
So providing us with some support and also sharing your prayer request.
Speaker 2 00:16:50
As we head into the prayer requests, I need to address why this episode is late
Speaker 2 00:16:58
And it is because I do I do still need prayers.
Speaker 2 00:17:01
I've asked for prayers from you each week as we've done this show.
Speaker 2 00:17:05
On Friday morning uh last week I
Speaker 2 00:17:08
was preparing to go to work and just something did not feel right.
Speaker 2 00:17:14
Um after taking a shower, I got out of the shower and then immediately became sick.
Speaker 2 00:17:20
Uh became ill at my stomach
Speaker 2 00:17:23
Um and then immediately text my boss at work, um, my network engineer, as well as another person
Speaker 2 00:17:33
that I work with and let them know that I wasn't gonna be able to make it in, that I was gonna take day off.
Speaker 2 00:17:38
I'd also, you know, messaged and let my wife know first before them as well.
Speaker 2 00:17:43
And sat down on my bed and immediately knew that
Speaker 2 00:17:47
a fever was hitting.
Speaker 2 00:17:49
Um I've become so in tune with the issues I have with my leg and the fluid retention, the uh edema that goes on there
Speaker 2 00:17:56
that I knew I knew what was gonna happen.
Speaker 2 00:18:00
Um I filled the tank on my CPAP machine.
Speaker 2 00:18:02
I checked my temperature.
Speaker 2 00:18:04
At that time it was 101, 100.
Speaker 2 00:18:06
1.
Speaker 2 00:18:07
So not technically a fever, but I knew it was coming.
Speaker 2 00:18:10
Um, I put my CPAC basket on and I went back to bed.
Speaker 2 00:18:13
Um, I don't know that I left the bed for maybe a total of 45 minutes for the re next 24
Speaker 2 00:18:22
hours or so.
Speaker 2 00:18:23
Um, slept through it, worked it off that way.
Speaker 2 00:18:27
Um, had a rough day Saturday dealing with the after effects of that
Speaker 2 00:18:33
And then have been dealing with some glucose issues since then with my blood sugar.
Speaker 2 00:18:42
Uh so there's some some things going on and and I really could use prayers and I would appreciate it if you could throw those my way.
Speaker 2 00:18:51
Um
Speaker 2 00:18:52
Still continue to remember my parents are family, friends, Greg and Kim, and the the sick the illnesses and things they're dealing with.
Speaker 2 00:19:00
Um remember
Speaker 2 00:19:04
Um a friend of mine who I've talked about before, who I used to work with, Jimmy Clayton.
Speaker 2 00:19:09
Jimmy has finished up his cancer treatments again, uh, is doing well.
Speaker 2 00:19:13
But I still want to throw some prayers out there for him.
Speaker 2 00:19:15
He actually reached out to me today, and we're going to sit down sometime in the next week, and he's looking to start a podcast himself.
Speaker 2 00:19:22
So he's he's called me in to to help him look at that and develop some ideas.
Speaker 2 00:19:27
So uh I just want to throw some prayers up for him because I know he's still healing and dealing with things.
Speaker 2 00:19:31
So I'm hoping that um God continues to touch him and and bless him and help him.
Speaker 2 00:19:36
Uh, but the biggest thing is if you have an unspoken request, we want to make sure we remember you as well as we do each week.
Speaker 2 00:19:44
Uh but feel please feel free to to reach out and send those requests into us because we would love to share them with the audience.
Speaker 2 00:19:52
We're going to go ahead at this time and
Speaker 2 00:19:56
prepare to um close out in prayer before we talk about what's coming up on the next episode of of Bible Bites.
Speaker 2 00:20:04
Heavenly Father, we close out this episode by lifting up these requests to you.
Speaker 2 00:20:11
I know it seems self-serving.
Speaker 2 00:20:14
on my part to re to to make requests of you for myself, but I do need your help.
Speaker 2 00:20:19
I need I need your help in the healing.
Speaker 2 00:20:22
I need you to continue to to touch my parents, help making sure my father is healed and the cancer is taken care of, and that my mother continues to support him and help him and do what needs to be done.
Speaker 2 00:20:33
And most importantly, we get them, hopefully, back into church, into service.
Speaker 2 00:20:38
Remember our friends Greg and Kim and the health issues, things they're dealing with, that you can touch them and help them and
Speaker 2 00:20:45
I hope that they might as well uh begin to attend church somewhere and and make sure that they know your son Jesus is their savior.
Speaker 2 00:20:54
And I want to throw up Jimmy Clayton again.
Speaker 2 00:20:57
Jimmy is uh the most positive human being I've ever met in my life.
Speaker 2 00:21:01
But I know he still is healing and still needs some support.
Speaker 2 00:21:05
And I hope that you can touch him and help him and can continue to heal him and continue to touch him and bless him.
Speaker 2 00:21:12
We work each week on this show to share your word and we thank you for that opportunity.
Speaker 2 00:21:16
And hope that you can continue to allow us to do so.
Speaker 2 00:21:21
It is in the name of your Son Jesus that we ask these things.
Speaker 2 00:21:25
And we pray.
Speaker 2 00:21:27
Amen.
Speaker 2 00:21:30
Our next episode is going to take another look at Eve.
Speaker 2 00:21:32
We're going to look at the first sin and the lessons it shows us on temptation.
Speaker 2 00:21:40
and on consequences.
Speaker 2 00:21:42
And the scripture we're going to use for that comes from Genesis chapter 3.
Speaker 2 00:21:45
That's going to be verses 1 through 19.
Speaker 2 00:21:49
So come back for the next episode of Bible Bites, the podcast, where we work to inspire faith one bite at a time.
