Speaker:

Welcome to the Peak

Speaker:

Revival Podcast.

Speaker:

My name is Vesna.

Speaker:

Today I'm really speaking

Speaker:

to my tired business owners

Speaker:

and how to access three

Speaker:

types of energy for peak

Speaker:

energy and performance.

Speaker:

If you are exhausted, here

Speaker:

is where you should focus.

Speaker:

So the number one thing I've

Speaker:

talked about all different

Speaker:

things on this podcast,

Speaker:

but I want to kind of bring

Speaker:

them together to talk about

Speaker:

three sources of energy that

Speaker:

will give us so much energy

Speaker:

that it never runs out.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

May sound too good to be

Speaker:

true, but it's absolutely not.

Speaker:

This is how we are designed.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

The first place

Speaker:

is physical energy

Speaker:

This is where People

Speaker:

spend most of their time.

Speaker:

So we're looking at

Speaker:

mitochondrial energy,

Speaker:

which I talked about

Speaker:

in the last podcast.

Speaker:

We're looking at energy

Speaker:

from our nutrition.

Speaker:

We're looking at

Speaker:

adrenal energy as well.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

And so mitochondria is

Speaker:

like an energy powerhouse.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Produces.

Speaker:

Tons of energy for our body,

Speaker:

and the more we do, the more

Speaker:

our body creates mitochondria,

Speaker:

and the more energy we create.

Speaker:

And so, unless there's been a

Speaker:

breakdown to the mitochondria

Speaker:

due to excess stress, again,

Speaker:

I talked about that in the

Speaker:

last podcast, and that

Speaker:

means, you know, you'll be

Speaker:

feeling tired all the and it

Speaker:

may seem like you've got too

Speaker:

much going on, but actually

Speaker:

your internal reserves are

Speaker:

very low, and the ability for

Speaker:

your body to produce energy

Speaker:

is kind of working as well.

Speaker:

And so therefore you're

Speaker:

getting more tired doing

Speaker:

your current tasks.

Speaker:

So, most business owners

Speaker:

are accustomed to feeling

Speaker:

high levels of stress.

Speaker:

And so stress really creates

Speaker:

mitochondrial dysfunction

Speaker:

and so I find with business

Speaker:

owners, they don't really

Speaker:

notice that they're high

Speaker:

stress but they notice the

Speaker:

days when it's really bad.

Speaker:

Okay, so but most days

Speaker:

they're operating under a

Speaker:

lot of pressure and a lot of

Speaker:

stress and a lot of mental

Speaker:

noise and a lot of urgency

Speaker:

and a lot of fear and worry.

Speaker:

But it's only on the days

Speaker:

that it gets really really

Speaker:

bad that their stress levels

Speaker:

are really high that they

Speaker:

notice that they're stressed.

Speaker:

Okay, and so when we're

Speaker:

looking at physical energy

Speaker:

so often I'll ask people how

Speaker:

often do you wake up with the

Speaker:

energy to exercise that you

Speaker:

get out of Bed and go great.

Speaker:

I could go to a workout now

Speaker:

And if it's not very often

Speaker:

then this is something that

Speaker:

you want to look at how often

Speaker:

do you sleep well at night?

Speaker:

Are you going to bed by 9

Speaker:

30 10 p. m. Are you sleeping

Speaker:

right through and waking

Speaker:

up feeling refreshed?

Speaker:

How does your energy last

Speaker:

all day long or do you

Speaker:

feel a 3 p. m. Crash?

Speaker:

Where your productivity just

Speaker:

tanks, right, and you're

Speaker:

really tired and maybe

Speaker:

you're going for sugar or

Speaker:

caffeine to keep you going.

Speaker:

So, for physical energy,

Speaker:

there's a lot that we can

Speaker:

do, healthy diet, regular

Speaker:

meals, avoiding the foods

Speaker:

and habits that increase

Speaker:

the cortisol, affecting the

Speaker:

mitochondria and reducing

Speaker:

its function and having more

Speaker:

sleep and more recovery.

Speaker:

And that way improving that

Speaker:

physical energy, but if we

Speaker:

only focus here, we're not

Speaker:

going to get back to operating

Speaker:

on 12 cylinders, right?

Speaker:

In order to operate at your

Speaker:

best and at your highest level

Speaker:

with that kind of untapped

Speaker:

unlimited energy that is

Speaker:

always self replenishing,

Speaker:

looking at physical

Speaker:

energy is only one part.

Speaker:

The next part or number two

Speaker:

type of energy is mental and

Speaker:

emotional energy how focused

Speaker:

are you during the day?

Speaker:

Can you work on a complex

Speaker:

task until it's finished?

Speaker:

It could take hours without

Speaker:

distraction, right?

Speaker:

Can you do the deep work?

Speaker:

Are you doing shallow work?

Speaker:

Are you doing admin

Speaker:

y kind of stuff?

Speaker:

You're doing one thing, you're

Speaker:

jumping to another, you're

Speaker:

picking up your phone, you're

Speaker:

answering email, answering

Speaker:

text message, answering

Speaker:

something from your team?

Speaker:

Whatever it is, that's

Speaker:

shallow work, right?

Speaker:

how many hours a day can

Speaker:

you spend in deep work?

Speaker:

What is your capacity to deal

Speaker:

with challenges when something

Speaker:

goes wrong in the business?

Speaker:

Do you have a meltdown?

Speaker:

Do you catastrophize?

Speaker:

Do you feel

Speaker:

irritable or moody?

Speaker:

Do you snap at people,

Speaker:

your family, your partner,

Speaker:

your colleagues, people

Speaker:

that work for you, right?

Speaker:

So this is all kind of

Speaker:

pointing to your capacity,

Speaker:

mental and emotional capacity.

Speaker:

You know, do, when something

Speaker:

goes wrong in your business,

Speaker:

do you feel like it just?

Speaker:

completely just knocks

Speaker:

you down, right?

Speaker:

That it takes you a couple

Speaker:

of, maybe the whole day,

Speaker:

it wipes out your day, or

Speaker:

maybe it wipes out two days.

Speaker:

You feel tired, you

Speaker:

just feel drained.

Speaker:

Like it's like,

Speaker:

I'm so over this.

Speaker:

I can't handle it.

Speaker:

Or do you feel like it only

Speaker:

lasts about an hour or two

Speaker:

and then you bounce back and

Speaker:

you're ready to go again.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So that really, again,

Speaker:

points to mental and

Speaker:

emotional energy.

Speaker:

So, when we've been under

Speaker:

high levels of stress and

Speaker:

often what I see with, my

Speaker:

clients is that the speed

Speaker:

at which their mind works

Speaker:

in terms of the chatter is

Speaker:

so fast for so long that

Speaker:

it burns through a lot of

Speaker:

the neurotransmitters, the

Speaker:

neurotransmitters that help

Speaker:

to keep our brain calm.

Speaker:

And focused, and rational, and

Speaker:

ability to handle challenges

Speaker:

and stress, that all gets

Speaker:

kind of burnt off, and so

Speaker:

we have less capacity to

Speaker:

deal with things, we become

Speaker:

more reactive, and it takes

Speaker:

longer to bounce back.

Speaker:

And so, there are many

Speaker:

things that we can do there

Speaker:

to improve this kind of

Speaker:

mental and emotional energy.

Speaker:

If we're looking at focus,

Speaker:

there is nutrients that we can

Speaker:

use to improve mental focus.

Speaker:

Something like balancing

Speaker:

your blood glucose levels

Speaker:

makes a huge difference

Speaker:

to mental energy and how

Speaker:

you can handle things that

Speaker:

come your way, and so you

Speaker:

won't, you know, so much get

Speaker:

a slump in the afternoon,

Speaker:

but you won't get as much

Speaker:

anxiety or overwhelm either.

Speaker:

Less time on your

Speaker:

devices, okay?

Speaker:

Just that distraction

Speaker:

and the blue light and

Speaker:

the dopamine hit is So

Speaker:

addictive, so draining on

Speaker:

the brain and it just zaps

Speaker:

your focus and zaps those

Speaker:

neurotransmitters if you're

Speaker:

not getting proper sleep.

Speaker:

So when we go to sleep

Speaker:

at night time, we have

Speaker:

an emotional reset.

Speaker:

And so if you're not getting

Speaker:

enough deep sleep, you're

Speaker:

just not getting that.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

And so you're waking up and

Speaker:

instead of feeling your mind

Speaker:

is clear, you're waking up and

Speaker:

you're still carrying stuff

Speaker:

from the next day, right?

Speaker:

It hasn't been cleared out.

Speaker:

And you know, the number

Speaker:

one thing is to reduce

Speaker:

the mental noise or the

Speaker:

mental stress, which

Speaker:

again, a lot of my clients.

Speaker:

Most will notice, some

Speaker:

won't, but they'll

Speaker:

notice at the times it

Speaker:

gets really bad again.

Speaker:

So often, you know, when

Speaker:

we, when I talk to clients,

Speaker:

I really kind of try to

Speaker:

understand what level of

Speaker:

mental stress that they

Speaker:

have because I know that

Speaker:

is absolutely going to

Speaker:

Take that part of the brain

Speaker:

offline where we can be

Speaker:

super productive and super

Speaker:

creative and rational and

Speaker:

deal with problems and,

Speaker:

do the deep work, right?

Speaker:

So that's a really

Speaker:

important part.

Speaker:

The third type of energy,

Speaker:

which is unlimited, and

Speaker:

you don't have to really

Speaker:

do anything to, we just

Speaker:

got to remove the blocks

Speaker:

for it, is spiritual

Speaker:

energy which is life force.

Speaker:

Life force is life.

Speaker:

It's energy from life.

Speaker:

And it fuels us and

Speaker:

is unlimited and

Speaker:

it never runs out.

Speaker:

So this is something that

Speaker:

I personally had to refocus

Speaker:

on at the end of last year.

Speaker:

I found like physical

Speaker:

energy fine, mental and

Speaker:

emotional, that's where

Speaker:

I spent a lot of my time.

Speaker:

I did making sure, you know,

Speaker:

getting rid of the mental

Speaker:

stress or, you know, dealing

Speaker:

with things in better ways,

Speaker:

but my spiritual energy

Speaker:

or the life force from

Speaker:

my work was diminished.

Speaker:

running a business, there

Speaker:

is things in your business

Speaker:

that you do that have to be

Speaker:

done that you don't really

Speaker:

love and it's not very

Speaker:

energizing for you, but

Speaker:

you've got to do them right.

Speaker:

Maybe it's something that

Speaker:

only you can do and I

Speaker:

found that there was so

Speaker:

many things like that And

Speaker:

I wasn't doing the things

Speaker:

that really energized me.

Speaker:

I wasn't doing the things

Speaker:

that Enhanced my life force

Speaker:

you know teaching coaching

Speaker:

webinars Things where I'm

Speaker:

really kind of doing the

Speaker:

workshops with groups that

Speaker:

kind of stuff I love and

Speaker:

it really energizes me and

Speaker:

connects me with people,

Speaker:

which is very energizing.

Speaker:

I was doing more of the,

Speaker:

behind the scenes and the

Speaker:

admin and the team and

Speaker:

managing things that was

Speaker:

draining my life force.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So you will have things in

Speaker:

your business that You know,

Speaker:

there'll be some things

Speaker:

that you can outsource, some

Speaker:

things that you'll have to

Speaker:

keep, but you really want to

Speaker:

make sure that when you're

Speaker:

looking at all your tasks

Speaker:

over the week, what are

Speaker:

the things that actually

Speaker:

enhance your life force,

Speaker:

that spiritual energy that

Speaker:

really fuels the body, okay?

Speaker:

That never runs out.

Speaker:

How much of that are you

Speaker:

having during the week?

Speaker:

And when I talk about

Speaker:

life force energy, I'm

Speaker:

talking about when you do

Speaker:

something, you just feel

Speaker:

a total buzz after it.

Speaker:

Okay, so when I come off

Speaker:

a webinar or a workshop,

Speaker:

I am completely buzzed.

Speaker:

I love it.

Speaker:

I, I make them go too long

Speaker:

because I love chatting with

Speaker:

people and answering questions

Speaker:

and coaching and teaching.

Speaker:

So that gives me a total buzz.

Speaker:

So there are things

Speaker:

that you love that maybe

Speaker:

you're not doing as much

Speaker:

because you're doing all

Speaker:

of the other work that is

Speaker:

diminishing your life force.

Speaker:

And that's what I

Speaker:

was doing, right?

Speaker:

I wasn't doing the things

Speaker:

that I love because I didn't

Speaker:

have the capacity and I

Speaker:

realized that in order to

Speaker:

get that capacity back,

Speaker:

I needed to do the things

Speaker:

that enhance my life force.

Speaker:

And so another tip is, I just

Speaker:

learnt this the other day,

Speaker:

which obviously is so obvious,

Speaker:

but, anyway, I obviously had

Speaker:

to hear it from somebody else.

Speaker:

That the things that don't

Speaker:

light you up or don't enhance

Speaker:

your life force, the things

Speaker:

that you're not world class

Speaker:

at, those are the things that

Speaker:

you find somebody else to do.

Speaker:

And when you're looking for

Speaker:

a new team, you want to find

Speaker:

out What are the things that

Speaker:

enhance their life force?

Speaker:

What are the things that they

Speaker:

totally get a buzz out of?

Speaker:

Because they are going to

Speaker:

be so good at that task,

Speaker:

and then you don't have

Speaker:

to do it anymore, right?

Speaker:

So that was a cool little tip.

Speaker:

So, three types of

Speaker:

energy to really break

Speaker:

free from tiredness.

Speaker:

Don't look at your

Speaker:

schedule being the thing

Speaker:

that's making you tired.

Speaker:

Most often, it's

Speaker:

our physical health.

Speaker:

It's draining our energy,

Speaker:

it's our mental and

Speaker:

emotional, so not even our

Speaker:

workload, but everything

Speaker:

that's going on in here.

Speaker:

And the third thing is we

Speaker:

haven't structured schedule

Speaker:

to include those things

Speaker:

which enhance our life force.

Speaker:

Okay, so we want to look at

Speaker:

physical energy, we want to

Speaker:

look at mental and emotional

Speaker:

energy, and we want to

Speaker:

look at spiritual energy.

Speaker:

So let me know if you can see

Speaker:

the comments below which one

Speaker:

you need to focus on first.
