>> Jonathan: You guys, that just hit play, you're tuning into a fresh
Speaker:episode here of chasing Birdies. And, uh, my
Speaker:throat's a little froggy this morning. My chest a little
Speaker:congested this morning. I do have a Zimbabwe
Speaker:in my mouth right now, and coughs might be
Speaker:had here, folks. So I apologize on that one,
Speaker:but it's good to be back, Pep. It's good to be
Speaker:back. And how are you doing today, my friend?
Speaker:>> RB: I'm doing fantastic. I, I, I. I feel like I might
Speaker:have gotten this throat thing from you. I mean, you were
Speaker:hacking and coughing on me the other day at Namakol and Shepherd's
Speaker:Rock. Um, my throat's a little
Speaker:sore. Got a little mucus. Know it's
Speaker:disgusting, but I'm drinking some hot coffee, and it's. It's kind
Speaker:of helping out a little bit. Um, I know
Speaker:we're about 10 days away from the chasing birdies,
Speaker:too, man. We had to, uh, drop out. So we're at
Speaker:50. And the events brought to you by Red Vanly.
Speaker:So make, uh, sure you go check them out@redvanly.com,
Speaker:get some summer swag. The fall, I'm sure, is gonna be coming
Speaker:out, which let's not think of ahead to the fall, even. The fall is
Speaker:my favorite season. The fall is my favorite.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, indeed.
Speaker:>> RB: Also, I want to send a congrats to Joe
Speaker:Pavelski for winning the Tahoe
Speaker:celebrity event. He's a Red Vanly athlete like ourselves.
Speaker:If he would consider us athletes.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Shout out.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, which we aren't, but congratulations to
Speaker:him. I know a text was just sent to him
Speaker:to come to the two, Man. A little late entry could be possible.
Speaker:So could be had.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Dude, that Tahoe event looks so awesome, though. The
Speaker:fact. Yeah, but the cop thing,
Speaker:dude, do.
Speaker:>> RB: You see Aaron Rodgers with all the fans? I can't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I did.
Speaker:>> RB: I can't. I don't know. I, I just don't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I, I kind of liked it, though, because I'm like, this is our guy
Speaker:now, boys. This is what we are riding on this year,
Speaker:collectively speaking as a fan, We.
Speaker:>> RB: You play, bud.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: No, we. As the fans. The fans.
Speaker:But, yeah, dude, he, he, you know, he was pretty,
Speaker:uh, adamant about not signing that autograph for that
Speaker:kid.
Speaker:>> RB: I have a great we story.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Um.
Speaker:>> RB: Years ago, the, uh, real deal James Neil came to
Speaker:McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Uh, meanwhile, he pulls up
Speaker:and is, you know, $300,000
Speaker:Ferrari McKeesport. I'm like, but, like, you're not gonna have tires. All
Speaker:right, so, like, so anyways, we go to
Speaker:the Bar, late night. We're at the bar
Speaker:and some kid comes over and, and says,
Speaker:hey, anybody ever tell you look like James Neil?
Speaker:He said, yeah, I get that a lot. He said, you know, we should
Speaker:trade him. James said, we? He said, you play
Speaker:on the team, bud.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: And.
Speaker:>> RB: And so the kid said, no, I'm just a big fan. And like, I just don't
Speaker:think that he fits in really well. And blah, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker:So like 30 minutes later, the kid comes back as. I'm, um, such an
Speaker:idiot, man. He said, you are James Neal?
Speaker:And he said, yeah. He said, why don't you beat
Speaker:it? He said, can I get a picture? He said, no, you
Speaker:just had me traded 40 minutes ago.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That is funny, dude. The, what's, um,
Speaker:that. That these rappers make, is
Speaker:it like scissor or something like that? Like
Speaker:codeine and, and Robitussin and
Speaker:you want to. I was. Well, dude, I was, I was
Speaker:like, my lungs were just burning and
Speaker:I was coughing like crazy a couple nights ago, you know, and,
Speaker:uh, I'm like, I need something to soothe,
Speaker:you know, And I know honey works pretty well, but. So I went into the
Speaker:little medical drawer here at the house and was looking for
Speaker:like, kids cough syrup. So just something basic.
Speaker:And there's a bottle Robitussin,
Speaker:pm, dm, whatever the hell that
Speaker:means. And it was for adults. And it
Speaker:said, take 20 milliliters. So I'm like, well, golly,
Speaker:I'm gonna just go ahead and fix me a nice little cup of
Speaker:Robitussin and see how this thing works.
Speaker:Dude, I. I took that Robitussin
Speaker:and I am telling you, within 12 minutes of
Speaker:me taking it, laying back in bed, not only did I not cough,
Speaker:but I was knocked the hell out. I mean,
Speaker:I was knocked out, dude, solid sleep.
Speaker:Didn't wake up until like 8:30 the next
Speaker:morning, which is late.
Speaker:And I thought to myself, man, these guys getting rocked on
Speaker:Robitussin and whatever they mix it with,
Speaker:I mean, damn, there's a reason why that shit's a
Speaker:problem.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, I just go to Tequila.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So, um, now they're talking about all these kids in
Speaker:college getting, you know, trying to buy Adderall
Speaker:and stuff that you like to do. Um, but they're getting it
Speaker:illegally and it's mixed with meth.
Speaker:So this is gonna pose a problem for the
Speaker:American youth. As if we
Speaker:already don't have enough problems.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, that's happened. We can talk about this all day.
Speaker:Like, that's neither here nor there.
Speaker:Just gotta be careful coming up this
Speaker:Thursday, when this episode drops, the
Speaker:British Open is being played at
Speaker:Royal Court Rush in Ireland.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Northern Ireland, mate. No, Northern Ireland.
Speaker:>> RB: Northern Ireland.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's its own country.
Speaker:>> RB: Northern Ireland. And we had the
Speaker:opportunity to go over there. What was it, about four years ago?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I think 22. So three summers ago.
Speaker:>> RB: Okay, so three summers ago, we got the chance to play
Speaker:Royal Port Rush. Um,
Speaker:and, man, I would say top two
Speaker:on the trip for me. Yeah, it's
Speaker:incredible. The layout's amazing. It is
Speaker:tough. It's right on the water.
Speaker:Um, you kind of. The first couple holes, you kind of go out
Speaker:your mosey and away from the clubhouse. I think you,
Speaker:uh, had mentioned before we got on, uh, Rory McElroy
Speaker:made an eight on number one, which is a par four.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Difficult green. Huge green.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, you know, that hole doesn't look like it
Speaker:could be that demoralizing. You know what I mean?
Speaker:Like, it's. It's a pretty fair straight, a little hill, par
Speaker:four, but it's a little tight on both
Speaker:sides, so. The hat I'm wearing is from
Speaker:Royal Port Rush. I bought this there. It's. This
Speaker:is the first time I'm wearing this hat. I just took the tags off today,
Speaker:boys, just for this episode.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, they were selling merchandise for 20, 25,
Speaker:three years ago, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Looks good.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, you held on to it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yep.
Speaker:>> RB: To this point, um, I don't remember what I
Speaker:shot, so I can't say anything about that.
Speaker:Um, I just remember playing, uh, 1,
Speaker:2, 3, 4, which is a short par four,
Speaker:little dogleg right, going back towards the ocean.
Speaker:And I remember standing on that green, looking out to the ocean, thinking,
Speaker:this is. Like, this isn't real. Right.
Speaker:And all the lads are down there on the. On
Speaker:the beach, running around with the dogs and the ladies
Speaker:chasing the dogs. Um, and I said, this is.
Speaker:I said, this is. Looks like a movie. It
Speaker:does. Well, funny enough, Game
Speaker:of Thrones is filmed on that
Speaker:beach with that big wall that was kind of hooking around
Speaker:to the or. Yeah.
Speaker:Um, so that was kind of cool, man.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: I'm not a Game of Thrones person, but if somebody listening is, we got to
Speaker:seize one of the sets.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. The course, it's kind of hard for me to
Speaker:recall specifically the whole. I mean, I.
Speaker:You know, if I watched a flyover, I could remember this,
Speaker:that, and the other. But what I do recall is that when you got into the
Speaker:meat of that course, like, maybe 7
Speaker:through 12, 6 through 15, something
Speaker:to that effect, it became
Speaker:very demanding. I mean, the first
Speaker:couple holes you kind of just, you're getting into it, you know, you
Speaker:gotta do it decently short, part three. You got that
Speaker:par four down towards the water, whatnot. But
Speaker:the meat of that course is in. In the middle of
Speaker:it, and it can unleash havoc.
Speaker:And I think these guys, look, this is the final major of the
Speaker:year, which. I can't believe it. I've said it before.
Speaker:You know, we're in the middle of July and now the golf
Speaker:season is not over. But
Speaker:there's nothing really more than the Ryder cup to look forward to. I mean,
Speaker:FedEx cup, you know, is that really fun? I don't know. But,
Speaker:um, these guys are going to be prepared.
Speaker:Uh, you know, a lot of them just played in the Scottish Open, which was
Speaker:fun to watch. We could talk a little bit about that.
Speaker:Uh, and so I'm excited to see
Speaker:how. How the guys like Scheffler, how The
Speaker:guys like McElroy, specifically McElroy being,
Speaker:well, from Ireland. I mean, how's he going to handle
Speaker:this?
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, the amount of pressure he has to win
Speaker:this one, because who's to say that he's ever going to play another
Speaker:one? It's not like the British Open comes to Ireland
Speaker:every year. So it's kind of. Is
Speaker:this the last go at it? I mean,
Speaker:listening. This guy talks depressing anymore.
Speaker:So, um, it's important for him, I think, that he
Speaker:could play well. He. Ha. It's crazy to say this, but
Speaker:he has to have a good first round for confidence.
Speaker:I would love Shane Lowry to win because
Speaker:I just like the guy. Dude. I love the guy. He
Speaker:parties after he wins,
Speaker:celebrates. That's what he said in his press conference. He said, I feel like, you
Speaker:know, I lose way more than I win on the Tour. And,
Speaker:yeah, I celebrated a lot, and rightfully
Speaker:so. But you got a couple, you got a couple
Speaker:Irishmen playing in this, and it'll be
Speaker:exciting to see how they finish. I mean, you got Scotty
Speaker:Scheffler leading the odds.
Speaker:I think he was plus 5, plus 300. I think
Speaker:he's plus 450 currently.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Plus 4 50. As of now, he's plus 450.
Speaker:Macro, um, is not too far behind him at plus 700.
Speaker:Um, dude. But like. And we'll get
Speaker:into that bet talk here in a few moments.
Speaker:And by the way, people, we do have a special honorary
Speaker:guest joining us here for a few minutes to just jump
Speaker:on the show with us, talk a little bit of golf
Speaker:recap, uh, maybe a little bit on the US Open. Looking forward to. To
Speaker:the British Open, but that guy is
Speaker:the legend Rocco Media. So he's
Speaker:joining us here on Chasing birdies in about
Speaker:12 minutes or so, so we will welcome him with
Speaker:open arms. But I got to tell you, dude, the one guy that
Speaker:just. And I might have to have a talk with
Speaker:Joey, I mean, but Oberg,
Speaker:he gets in the mix, dude. He.
Speaker:The last couple tournaments that I've been on him,
Speaker:you know, the Scottish Open and I think the
Speaker:Canadian Open, he's been in the mix through, like,
Speaker:two and a half, three rounds, like, right there. Then he
Speaker:just bombs, like, this past weekend, he
Speaker:went. He went like bogey, bogey, triple bogey, or bogey,
Speaker:bogey, double bogey. He went 4 over.
Speaker:Um, he was 10 under, and
Speaker:then he went 4 over over three holes and was
Speaker:600. Like, he's completely out of it. But
Speaker:that. That guy can always be a threat in a golf
Speaker:tournament. But I guess the bigger question is, do you
Speaker:think it's going to be one of the big dogs that gonna get it done, or do
Speaker:you think, uh. Uh, it's not.
Speaker:>> RB: I have a big dog picked, um, but I have
Speaker:three picks, and two of the three or not, I would consider
Speaker:big dogs currently. I don't think so, dude.
Speaker:I don't think it's going to be a, uh, considered, you know,
Speaker:top five player on the PGA Tour. I
Speaker:don't think so. I don't think Rory
Speaker:can get it done with the headspace he is in right
Speaker:now. I don't know what headspace he's in, but I'm
Speaker:saying, you know, the U.S. open,
Speaker:uh, his little chippiness that he has,
Speaker:um, is he miserable in life? You know, he was
Speaker:complaining about the greens over in the Scottish Open, and these greens
Speaker:are shit. Well, but, I mean, let's not forget
Speaker:you came from Ireland, right? Like, these. These are normal to you,
Speaker:actually. Scotland, Ireland, like,
Speaker:yeah. I mean, they weren't
Speaker:for the guy that won. And that's the thing. You can't
Speaker:worry about that kind of stuff. Everybody's got a putt on them, bud.
Speaker:Everybody.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: So true.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, so let me hear what you got. I mean, if you want to
Speaker:go right into that little talk.
Speaker:>> RB: So, um, my. I have three picks.
Speaker:I'll, uh, start from my long shot and go
Speaker:and go down at plus 10,000.
Speaker:Uh, Jason Day.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's solid.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, my next pick at plus
Speaker:5,500. Justin Rose.
Speaker:M. And then, uh, my number one
Speaker:pick is. I have him at plus 500.
Speaker:So Scotty Scheffler well, so that's a big dog, dude.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, yeah, you got.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's your number one pick. But, I mean, he's told me you don't.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:>> RB: I don't think a big dog's gonna win, but I'm still gonna
Speaker:take him.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's your number one pick dog. I
Speaker:love contradicting statements, too. It's all good.
Speaker:>> RB: And another guy I like,
Speaker:I'm kind of going back and forth is Adam Scott
Speaker:because he plays in the wind, good iron player.
Speaker:So let's hear yours.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I don't have at this moment in time. I honestly, I didn't
Speaker:do any picks. Um, but if I were
Speaker:to pick a couple folks right now, who I would take for
Speaker:sure. Uh, number one,
Speaker:Tommy Fleetwood. I think he's about
Speaker:plus 2600. The reason being is because
Speaker:I learned a couple weeks ago he's never won.
Speaker:And guess what? The guy grew up over in this type of
Speaker:playing golf. He's been playing good golf. Now, can he handle his
Speaker:nerves? I don't know. But he can be in the mix,
Speaker:so I think Fleetwood is probably a good play. And
Speaker:then I look at someone on the back end, like,
Speaker:pretty far down the line, you know, like potentially
Speaker:another Sam Burns type player or
Speaker:Cam Smith making a turn to try to potentially
Speaker:get. Get a dub on it. Um,
Speaker:Cam Young, even. So, someone in
Speaker:that type of mix. And then if I were to
Speaker:pick somebody who I would label like a big dog or
Speaker:someone that can be really, really kind of right there
Speaker:with it, um, I'm probably
Speaker:going to go with John Rahm, and I think
Speaker:his games, he's been playing great all year,
Speaker:and there's good value on him. John Rom plus
Speaker:1200 right now. And, uh,
Speaker:you know, but anybody could win.
Speaker:Anybody.
Speaker:>> RB: It's the British Open.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's the British Open. You got. I don't
Speaker:know. Have you taken a look at the forecast?
Speaker:>> RB: I have not looked into the weather, but, um,
Speaker:that can play a huge deciding factor in all of this. It
Speaker:could be beautiful. When we were over there, it was beautiful.
Speaker:I was actually. It was actually like this week.
Speaker:Yeah, I think we were there, like, July 22nd to the
Speaker:28th. So a week later.
Speaker:Um, but it could be beautiful. And if
Speaker:it's beautiful and the wind's not terrible,
Speaker:scores might start going low. But if it gets gusty and
Speaker:rainy and all the elements, which I enjoy
Speaker:watching at the British Open, I feel like that's the
Speaker:British Open. Right. Who knows? What.
Speaker:What happens? I. I do say, uh, this is my favorite major
Speaker:to watch. Because, but you get up at three in the morning
Speaker:and we got, we got golf.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. And that can buy that. You know, I'm
Speaker:cool with the fact that we wake up early on the weekend
Speaker:and golf's on, you know, by 10 o' clock, the leaders are going
Speaker:teeing off. And that's cool to me because then it
Speaker:kind of frees up the rest of your day. You don't got to feel like you're, uh,
Speaker:couch bum eating combos and chilling.
Speaker:So I do like that aspect that, that
Speaker:the, this golf tournament provides golf at
Speaker:an earlier time slot. And look,
Speaker:I'm certainly upset that this is our last major, but, man, I
Speaker:am stoked. Especially like
Speaker:watching the US Open. Okay,
Speaker:Watching the US Open. We know Oakmont. We've played
Speaker:Oakmont a bunch. We understand it.
Speaker:Got to see it in real time with these guys playing it and
Speaker:saw what it brought. Now the British,
Speaker:we got to play Royal Port Rush. Now. I can't tell you all the holes
Speaker:off the top of my head now at this point, but, uh,
Speaker:I sure as hell will remember them when I see them, and I'll
Speaker:know. So it's like, okay, it's going to take me back a
Speaker:little bit to hanging out with you guys, you know, how about eat?
Speaker:>> RB: I for sure remember the first five holes. I
Speaker:just, I think that that day when we played was a little
Speaker:windy, so. So the old head was a little down, boys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Ian Patrick, the legend that he
Speaker:is on the bus ride in Northern Ireland, he got sick. We
Speaker:stopped at the gas station. He wanted milk. And it's like
Speaker:90 degrees in Ireland, and we're on this sprinter van
Speaker:with like barely any ac or on these
Speaker:back roads in Northern Ireland. And
Speaker:Ian just starts projectile vomiting everywhere
Speaker:in this bus. And then it's like
Speaker:everyone is all, ugh, the
Speaker:smell. Gross. So our
Speaker:driver. There's a reason why I'm telling this story.
Speaker:Our driver, Sean, pulls off and lets
Speaker:Ian do what he has to do. And I vividly remember Ian
Speaker:getting that bag, putting it in the garbage can on the street.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:>> RB: No, I remember him, um, vomiting in the
Speaker:bag and the bag breaking and it goes.
Speaker:Yes, in the bus.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Well, I remember the garbage
Speaker:can where it was full, seeping out on the outside
Speaker:of the garbage can.
Speaker:>> RB: And he sharted. Let's not. He
Speaker:literally sharted.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And he was not like. I mean, he
Speaker:was kind of in an urgent state, but at the
Speaker:same time, he was pretty much doing
Speaker:on Ian time. Like, I'll get to it when I get to it. Like,
Speaker:guys, Shut the hell up. I'm sick. Okay? You're going
Speaker:to deal with this. Let me get back to me.
Speaker:So we kind of just moseyed around this little town for a couple of minutes while
Speaker:Ian dealt with his puke. And, you know, it's hot.
Speaker:Everyone's like, what the hell's going on? But Ian texted Sean
Speaker:this weekend and told him he
Speaker:wants to go back to Northern Ireland next year. Can you set up a
Speaker:trip? And he ended the conversation with him, and,
Speaker:uh, he said, what you think,
Speaker:question mark. I could
Speaker:not stop laughing. He said, what you think,
Speaker:Leg Sean? Meanwhile, Sean's probably like, who the fuck's this guy?
Speaker:Oh, Ian, uh. Yeah. How you doing, man? How
Speaker:you doing?
Speaker:>> RB: That pooped himself and puked all over my bus.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I got you. I got you.
Speaker:Good, uh, times, man. That was good.
Speaker:That was good.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, our buddy, uh, Rocco will be joining
Speaker:here in a few minutes,
Speaker:and I'm looking forward to getting his thoughts on a few things.
Speaker:Um, you know, Oakmont,
Speaker:um. Was the Sam Burns rolling
Speaker:correct from a Tour player's
Speaker:perspective? Um, talk a little bit about his
Speaker:experiences at the British Open and a little bit about
Speaker:the media. Um, Colin Morikawa specifically.
Speaker:Um, Rory McElroy specifically.
Speaker:See, get his thoughts on that, because I'll tell you this much. Um,
Speaker:I don't think that he approves of how they're handling
Speaker:it. And,
Speaker:um, it'll be interesting to get his
Speaker:take.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That ruling was.
Speaker:You know, that. That was. That was tough watching him
Speaker:in 15 with that water. But
Speaker:I don't know that that was one for the,
Speaker:uh.
Speaker:You got your second Zen in right now, too. Alps.
Speaker:Oh, the Alps. The Alps.
Speaker:>> RB: I'm on sixes now, but I have my only gone up.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: My only complaint with the Alps is the fact that you don't have a little
Speaker:slot underneath to kind of dump them. When you're done, you got
Speaker:to put them back in or you got to find a garbage can.
Speaker:I'm so used to that Zins. Whenever I just want to take it out, I
Speaker:just turn the can over, take the small ring
Speaker:out and bump it in.
Speaker:>> RB: I never found that, by the way. Like, I was looking.
Speaker:And you know who told us that was Story
Speaker:Snyder.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Story Snyder told us that.
Speaker:>> RB: Story Snyder is the one who introduced you, and
Speaker:your mind was absolutely blown.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, it happened to me on the way back from Colorado. I'm on
Speaker:the airplane, and this kid sitting two seats next to me, I
Speaker:turn the can over and I put it in, and I'm, um. I go
Speaker:back to minding my own business. And he hits me. He says, what
Speaker:the hell did you just do with that? I said, what do you mean? He said, the
Speaker:zincain. You turned it over? And I said,
Speaker:yeah, but I said, I put the dead soldiers here in this
Speaker:ring. And he. His mind was blown.
Speaker:And then I put my headphones back in and mind my own business, so.
Speaker:And take care, bud.
Speaker:M. I didn't even
Speaker:charge him.
Speaker:>> RB: Meanwhile, I got yelled at for having his in can
Speaker:out in the open on the airplane. And you're over here
Speaker:educating some kid on it. I mean, like,
Speaker:guy came over to me and said, hey, um, you're not allowed
Speaker:to have that on the airplane. I don't care. But the
Speaker:rest of the staff will yell at you for that.
Speaker:Like, bud, I'm not doing anything.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, it's not, um.
Speaker:>> RB: It's not like I'm spitting in a bottle,
Speaker:which we did on the way. On the way to St. Lucia.
Speaker:I'm like, what's that smell? Guy in the same row as me across
Speaker:the aisle had an old school chewing.
Speaker:Spitting in a bottle, and it was
Speaker:disgusting. I wanted to puke. The smell,
Speaker:um, of it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, it's really not that bad, you know?
Speaker:It's really not that bad. The TSA agents are the
Speaker:worst, though. Well, I mean, I appreciate their service, but, man,
Speaker:these guys and girls are just in bad moods all the
Speaker:time. Do I got to take your shoes off? No, you don't take your shoes
Speaker:off. Does it look like you need to take your shoe off? Well, I don't know.
Speaker:Everywhere else I do. No, put everything in.
Speaker:All right. Let me get my laptop out. Don't take your laptop out.
Speaker:This thing's high tech. You don't need to do it. Okay.
Speaker:Sorry. Should I take my hat off? No, I'm
Speaker:like, damn, that was me.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: You can't do.
Speaker:>> RB: There he is. He is the boy. Rocco.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: You told me. 8:15. What time is it?
Speaker:>> RB: Well, 8:15, boys.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Ah.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, where are we at today? Are we at, uh, Laurel or.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: I'm in. I'm in Hannah's town right now.
Speaker:>> RB: I love it. Hannah's Town Country Club. Rocco
Speaker:mediate.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: We did a couple things here. It's pretty nice, though.
Speaker:What we. What's going on here?
Speaker:Really cool, Rock.
Speaker:>> RB: We don't want to take too much of your time. We appreciate calling in. There's a couple things
Speaker:we've got to talk about with you. Um, Fire
Speaker:away. The. The state of the PGA Tour and
Speaker:the media. Yeah. M. Specifically, Colin
Speaker:Morikawa, Rory McElroy.
Speaker:Um, something's going on with Rory McElroy,
Speaker:clearly. Uh, because he went from being the voice of the
Speaker:PGA Tour to not wanting to talk to anybody.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah, he. Yeah, he did. Um, they
Speaker:kind of buried him with a. When he was standing
Speaker:up for the PGA Tour and then found out there's a
Speaker:deal behind it. Not behind his back, but behind everybody's back
Speaker:with, um, the live thing. You see how that worked out? That worked
Speaker:out nice. Um,
Speaker:and yeah, he just said, enough is enough. And I don't
Speaker:blame him for that, but
Speaker:nobody's bigger than the game. Yeah, we have to
Speaker:talk. You have to talk. That's people one.
Speaker:That's what you have to talk about.
Speaker:Um, the, uh, the, the I don't owe
Speaker:anybody anything crap is complete.
Speaker:It's. It's nauseating. Said it a million times. I don't care what
Speaker:people think about what I say ever. I could care
Speaker:less. Um, they'll come back and say, well, a
Speaker:couple guys said, well, you're just mad that you didn't have a,
Speaker:a good career. I'm like, call it what you want. I'm just
Speaker:telling you the truth.
Speaker:>> RB: Right.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: You speak to people when you're asked questions. You don't
Speaker:go to Palmer's course and the Palmer's tournament and say,
Speaker:uh, I don't know anybody, anything. He would have strung him up. Oh,
Speaker:you put him up against a locker. Okay, so stop
Speaker:it. You can't win the argument. There's nothing to win.
Speaker:It's wrong. I don't care what they say. It's even bigger
Speaker:now because of all this media stuff. So just
Speaker:say something.
Speaker:>> RB: And I said to ryan, I said, Mr. Palmer would have absolutely
Speaker:snapped based on our conversation. You and I had a.
Speaker:Privately. But this. It's
Speaker:easy to talk when you play well, right? You want to talk to. Everybody
Speaker:wants to talk.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Anybody can do it.
Speaker:>> RB: Piece of cake. But when you're a face of the game, I. E.
Speaker:Colin Morikawa, Rory McElroy just.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: I would definitely not calm. He's definitely not a face of the game.
Speaker:That's not even close to the face of the game. But he's a very
Speaker:well known, very great player. Love the way he
Speaker:plays the game, but just stop it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Because it doesn't. It looks bad. It looks bad. So,
Speaker:like I said, I don't care what people say about what
Speaker:I say about this. I'm looking out as a fan
Speaker:going, really? You're not going to tell me what, how you're feeling right
Speaker:now? This is what you're supposed to do you don't want to do
Speaker:it. But the key is, like you just said,
Speaker:and that's what Mr. Palmer said, it's easy to talk. When you shoot
Speaker:65, can you do it when you shoot 75, can you do it
Speaker:when you get beat? That's the. That's the test. Sometimes, of course, you
Speaker:don't want to do it. You're mad, you're sad, you're upset, you're
Speaker:whatever. But that's when you got to go. All right,
Speaker:I'm just going to tell them how I feel. Even if I say something stupid,
Speaker:I'm talking.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: You never say, I don't owe anybody
Speaker:anything. Well, actually, you do.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Because.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: It's like beating a dead horse. So they don't care.
Speaker:You saw this reaction. Oh, I.
Speaker:I don't, uh. I'm not. You know, it was like, what's wrong with
Speaker:these guys?
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. It's everybody else's.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Why would they say that? Yeah, of course it is. Of course it is. It's
Speaker:called entitlement, and that's what it's called. And it's
Speaker:nauseating. Hey, we're all entitled out there. Trust me.
Speaker:Uh, you know, it's changed, but we're playing a game for a
Speaker:living, and you can make tons and tons of money. That's a
Speaker:pretty good deal. So you might want to,
Speaker:you know, show some respect for
Speaker:it. I don't know. Call me crazy.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. No, I think you get all these.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Guys that go on the other side, like, oh, you're just
Speaker:this, um. Um. This has nothing to do with me.
Speaker:Zero. You can call my stuff whatever you want to
Speaker:call it. I don't care. I do not care. But.
Speaker:And why are you talking about it? They'll give me that one, too. And
Speaker:I'm like, well, because I was asked a question, so I answered
Speaker:it. Try it sometime. Yeah,
Speaker:So I don't care what the answer. I don't care what they think of
Speaker:the answer. But you're gonna ask me a question. I'm going
Speaker:to tell you what I think. Is it always right? Of course not.
Speaker:>> RB: You're right. Right.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: It's right this time.
Speaker:>> RB: I'll tell you. I'll tell you this much. Rock. We. We were watching the
Speaker:US Open, uh, at Oakmont Sunday, and there's a little rain. Del
Speaker:turned it. You know, turned it on, and here comes a replay of
Speaker:you at Torrey Pines. And I even talked to you.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: I lost again. Huh? Uh.
Speaker:>> RB: And I said, you look like you're having a time of your Life
Speaker:out, uh, there. And you said I was.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah, 100%. Yeah. It just doesn't.
Speaker:I don't know. Golf is still. I love watching these kids
Speaker:play. I love the PGA Tour. I do. I have
Speaker:nothing. Uh, I'm not that guy. Oh, they're playing for this. I think it's
Speaker:great that Scheffler made $70 million last year.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, he earned it.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: You know, he played 20 sometimes won nine
Speaker:times. He's. He was paid very well.
Speaker:I love Major league baseball, but a major league pitcher makes
Speaker:80, 90, 100 million a year, and he works once a week.
Speaker:Stop it. Okay. It's okay that the guys make the
Speaker:PGA Tour. Guys make money. It's okay that, well, uh,
Speaker:they're playing for too much. What. What does that mean?
Speaker:Yeah, what does that mean? So I. I think it's great the way
Speaker:that's gone, but you have to give it back.
Speaker:You. You have to. Even if you don't, you have to learn to act.
Speaker:Okay? Some guys can't talk to the media. Some guys
Speaker:are. Whatever. Give. Go find somebody
Speaker:that can teach you to speak. That's the key.
Speaker:Because some guys have no clue.
Speaker:And, um, you know, with Rory going where he went,
Speaker:something's going on. And you. You can't say he's a. He's an
Speaker:a. You can't say. You can't call him names. It's like something's
Speaker:happening, but surprising because he's a wonderful kid,
Speaker:and so is Colin. They're wonderful kids, but
Speaker:God dang it, give. Give me the fan
Speaker:what I want. Because I'm the one watching you guys, the
Speaker:fan wise. You know what I'm saying? Tell me how you feel.
Speaker:That Henley beat you by pitching in on 16 at
Speaker:Bay Hill. And so it's not like you stunk. He just.
Speaker:You got beat. So what? It's gonna happen again? Trust me.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. You know, it could happen this week.
Speaker:>> RB: What do you got there? Eight shots of. Eight shots there.
Speaker:Espresso.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah, it's down. It's. Yeah, down there. Brian. Julian. Brian's
Speaker:right here. We're just kind of hanging around and, um, looking,
Speaker:uh, at Hannah town. But. Yeah, it's just it. But it
Speaker:doesn't. We could talk about this for a hundred years. It's
Speaker:not going to change, but I hope it does. Let me put it that
Speaker:way, because you can't be that way. You
Speaker:can't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I always appreciate your candidness, Rock. I mean, I
Speaker:think, like I said, that's the way to be. I
Speaker:want to know your Opinion. Uh, rolling back
Speaker:because we. Pep and I were talking about this a little bit, but back
Speaker:to Oakmont, and then we'll look ahead briefly here at this week's
Speaker:major.
Speaker:But back to Oakmont. Obviously, the course played well for the
Speaker:guys. A little wet.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: What. What's your thought on that ruling on 15
Speaker:with Sam Burns not getting relief?
Speaker:>> Speaker C: That was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen,
Speaker:actually. Um, you know, whether it's. If
Speaker:it's in the rule. If it is, obviously it's the rule. That's the
Speaker:stupidest thing ever. So what you're telling me is my ball can
Speaker:be submerged in water in the middle of the fairway,
Speaker:but my feet are dry, so I have to
Speaker:play really, you know, what is. What. What is
Speaker:hitting the fairway? It's kind of. It's supposed to be what you're supposed to
Speaker:try to do, and all of a sudden, he's buried up to his.
Speaker:You know. It was a joke. Now, was it.
Speaker:Did it cost in the open? It very well could have.
Speaker:We don't know what happened. If he hits it on the green and two putts or makes
Speaker:birdie or. Or makes bogey, for that matter, we don't
Speaker:know what happens. We'll never know. But
Speaker:everybody, even on our, uh. Even on my, uh, the old guys
Speaker:tour, our tour, they're like, what the hell kind of ruling.
Speaker:I mean, I know it was, but if that's the rule book, that's the rule book. It
Speaker:just needs to be changed, right?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Because it did cost them. It cost him big time. We don't know.
Speaker:What if he gets it up there to a foot? We don't know.
Speaker:>> RB: The whole thing changes, probably. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Uh, yeah, the whole thing changes. But the guy. I mean,
Speaker:JJ deserved. I mean. Oh, my God, Was that ridiculous?
Speaker:>> RB: How about balls of steel there, huh? Oh, my God.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Struck him. He just out hit him coming home. And that's what it takes
Speaker:in those things, you know? He really did, um. It
Speaker:was cool to watch. You know, you saw glimpses of him at the
Speaker:players. It was. I wasn't surprised.
Speaker:>> RB: And you were paired with Mr. Palmer in his last
Speaker:major.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Your last U.S. open.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: That's. That's incredible.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Oh, it was insane. Yeah, it was. It was. I've never seen
Speaker:anything like it. Um, and then you never will. Um, it was.
Speaker:The whole world stopped when he finished on 18.
Speaker:>> RB: Two more things to talk about. Uh, one, the
Speaker:Jordan front. What do you. What's your thoughts on the revs?
Speaker:You like them? I feel like, that's right up your alley.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: I'm not on those at all.
Speaker:>> RB: Really.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: No, no, they're cool, but I,
Speaker:uh. They're not me. I m. I can't wear them because I didn't get
Speaker:they.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: They really bite into the ground. Good man.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah. I just like the fire. My favorites are. My favorites are the
Speaker:fives. Still. I still love you.
Speaker:>> RB: Always got so much style. I love it.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: I wear them.
Speaker:>> RB: Shorts and a T shirt.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Well, defined style. Yeah, define style. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, listen, when. When. When Brandle
Speaker:Shambley had you on and they were showing highlights, that's why I
Speaker:texted you guys. I said, they need to talk about your
Speaker:style now, man.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: You.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You've evolved. You like a new man.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: It's just a little. I don't know what you call it, but a lot of people
Speaker:hate it. And once again, I don't care.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I don't. I love it.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Yeah, if they don't like it, they could go watch someone else. It's fine with
Speaker:me. I don't. You know, I'm just trying to hang out and
Speaker:be comfortable. I did all the other stuff for all those other
Speaker:years, but, um, having our tours. We have a great
Speaker:time there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You guys are the best.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: We'll continue to do that. It's. It's cool. But
Speaker:I don't know. I think Rory's gonna have
Speaker:something to say about this open. I'm just telling you.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, that's what I want to segue in here, because I know, you know,
Speaker:we want to be cognizant of the time hearing for you, but, uh,
Speaker:Royal Port Rush Pep and I played it three years ago.
Speaker:I'm sure you've played it a handful of times.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Seen it. It looks ridiculously cool. Yeah, it looks
Speaker:really, really cool. I played county down and some other stuff, but
Speaker:I've never played up there.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's going to be a challenge, and that's what we were discussing. Who do we
Speaker:think could be. Is it going to be a big dog, or are we going to have
Speaker:someone from the back who no one's.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Well, I. I don't know what the weather's going to be,
Speaker:but I love Rory just because it's Rory. And I love
Speaker:Scotty. I m like Scotty every week. That's my Pick
Speaker:him pretty much every week, because how do you not pick him?
Speaker:If he putts good, he beats you. Um, but
Speaker:Rahm is somebody to be reckoned with, too. You watch.
Speaker:You watch Ron, because, you know, I know he played good last
Speaker:week at Valderrama. Um, but
Speaker:the Way he drives it, you know, it's
Speaker:over there. It's. He's. That he can hit that thing four feet off
Speaker:the ground a mile and it might take that. You
Speaker:know, Lowry is a great driver. Obviously, he won last time.
Speaker:Um, so if you look at those guys. But I think
Speaker:Rory's got to have. He's kind of. He finished the grand
Speaker:slam. Um, which was. It
Speaker:was so cool. It was so cool to see him actually do that because
Speaker:he, you know, you can say that he deserved it.
Speaker:Okay. It was good that. So it's. I'm glad it's over with
Speaker:and maybe some let down after that and whatever,
Speaker:you know? Um, but I think he's like, you know,
Speaker:last time I missed the cut here, and the people were
Speaker:just. Were crazy, and I was trying to do it for them. I
Speaker:think something's. I don't know. I hope so.
Speaker:It'd be cool to see that, but, you know, Scotty's gonna be.
Speaker:They're all going to be there, you know, if Xander's showing up again. He's feeling
Speaker:better, I guess.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: No media or.
Speaker:Or that's Colin. Sorry. No media for Colin.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: No media this week for Colin. That.
Speaker:That's what he said.
Speaker:>> RB: No, I'm just kidding. I'm kidding.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Oh, okay.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Jesus. Please don't give starting rumors.
Speaker:Starting rumors.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Well, Rock, all you got to do is talk. Whether it's for five
Speaker:seconds or 10 minutes, something. Please, just.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, I love it. I love it.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: We don't want much.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, we love having you back here in Pittsburgh. It's good that you always
Speaker:come back to the old stomping grounds, check the boys out.
Speaker:Uh, Hannah's Town. I'm sure you'll pop over to the old Mr.
Speaker:Palmer's place a few times. Um, we
Speaker:always. We always appreciate your time, Rock.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Anytime, guys. Anytime. You know where I am.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, you stay well, Rock. Keep playing good. And,
Speaker:uh, I gotta appreciate playing good.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Haven't played good for a while, but I'm coming around.
Speaker:>> RB: Let's get it going around.
Speaker:>> Speaker C: Have a good time, you guys. I'm not talking to you guys about this.
Speaker:Leave me alone. I'm not speaking. Let me
Speaker:know anytime you need me. Anytime you need me.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, buddy.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Thanks, Rock. We appreciate you. Thanks.
Speaker:We'll see.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, so our boy Rocco Mediate had a few thoughts
Speaker:there, and, uh, he
Speaker:came back from a tour event, Senior tour event. Drove in
Speaker:late and, uh, popped on. He's
Speaker:out at Hannah's Town right now, checking out. I haven't been there in a
Speaker:long Time.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I haven't been to Hannah's town since junior golf
Speaker:back in the day. There's some good tracks up in that way. Indiana
Speaker:Country Club, Hannah's town, Tyler
Speaker:Ridge used to be a nice plot spot, you know, and then obviously
Speaker:Laurel Valley and Latrobe Country Club.
Speaker:Uh, good stuff, man. I like Rock's take,
Speaker:man. He's just pretty to the point, man. And he
Speaker:shows that way, though.
Speaker:>> RB: He's always has been.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: His show is phenomenal. Uh,
Speaker:Jeff Dyer gets on it. I've listened. It's Monday, I think it's
Speaker:Monday nights at 7 o' clock on SiriusXM
Speaker:and he yucks it up for an hour. So, um,
Speaker:and it's awesome. I think it's. I think it's pretty cool to
Speaker:see that. But. But I do have to
Speaker:admit Rock and I are kind of on the same field with Jon
Speaker:Rahm right now.
Speaker:>> RB: You caught him earlier in the podcast. You said John Rob,
Speaker:bud. So, hey, uh, uh, maybe. Maybe
Speaker:that's the one, dude.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Could be it, buddy.
Speaker:>> RB: Which means probably not, but probably not.
Speaker:Speaking of golf, you've got the state open
Speaker:here in a few weeks, or actually in a week. Um, and
Speaker:then you roll right into the Chasing birdies too, man. How's the
Speaker:game feeling, bud?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Game? Honest to God, it's, It's good. I mean,
Speaker:the, the one spot of my game right now that's a little weak
Speaker:is my driving, which is, you know, I've said it before,
Speaker:uh, but it's coming,
Speaker:coming around. But my iron striking is really good.
Speaker:My chipping and wedging, I'm wedging it really
Speaker:well right now. My feel around the greens is really
Speaker:good.
Speaker:>> RB: Good.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And I'm rolling the rocks, so.
Speaker:No, I feel good, man. I almost flew one in on number
Speaker:two the other day. I was playing a little nightcap round with
Speaker:BCATs at Nemacolin, which for our
Speaker:listeners out there, Nemacollen is a proud sponsor
Speaker:and partner of Chasing Birdies. So make sure you check
Speaker:them out online@nemacolan.com 2 phenomenal
Speaker:peak die courses and great lodging, great food,
Speaker:great fun. Uh, so book your stay at Nemecol
Speaker:if you get a chance, but I went
Speaker:up with BK earlier this week, played nine
Speaker:holes. Twilight. Twilight, right?
Speaker:>> RB: Nine holers. You guys are.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We're nine holers. We're the nine holers. And, uh,
Speaker:number two. I hit this shot in number two and
Speaker:it's just going right at the pin. And
Speaker:dude, it didn't even hit the pin. It flew in the back of the cup
Speaker:and Ricocheted off, had a nice big dent
Speaker:in the hole.
Speaker:>> RB: Drink birdie?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Uh, no, because I was 20 yards away.
Speaker:Um, but I proceeded to get up and down the next
Speaker:hole, made, uh, birdie on four,
Speaker:made birdie on five, made birdie
Speaker:on seven, made a long parse save on
Speaker:eight. And then I three jacked nine for bogey, shot two
Speaker:under. So I fell pretty
Speaker:good. And BK played good, too. BK was back the nine
Speaker:holer. He shot even. Yeah, I mean, we love to
Speaker:see it.
Speaker:>> RB: Good.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We love to see it. And then I'm taking a couple guys this
Speaker:week at, uh, from work. I'm
Speaker:taking them to Pikewood here, uh, tomorrow
Speaker:for a round of golf. Jared Detwiler, good friend
Speaker:and, uh, Chartiers country club
Speaker:expertise. Guy just played in the club, uh,
Speaker:championship. Said he did not play too well, but
Speaker:we'll see how his game looks at pike with this weekend or this
Speaker:week and, uh, you know, friends. And friends.
Speaker:That's what we're doing. That's what we're doing.
Speaker:>> RB: I love it, dude. I love it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So, uh, you got another tournament coming up next week,
Speaker:my friend. You got your Yakag Country Club,
Speaker:AKA Moose Club member
Speaker:guests, you and Neil Walker.
Speaker:And then it is the
Speaker:chasing birdie's two man at
Speaker:Nemacorn. Dude, I would
Speaker:just think of Neil. Can I just say something? I just need
Speaker:people to know this. This is totally random, but when I
Speaker:said Neil and I thought of Pittsburgh, I got to tell you something,
Speaker:dude. Zach Frazier
Speaker:is one hell of a man,
Speaker:okay? He is just one hell of a man. Our
Speaker:starting center for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Speaker:is a good man. Um, had
Speaker:a little chat with him about, uh, WVU
Speaker:Medicine's children golf outing that you
Speaker:and I are a part of in September, which we need to
Speaker:get on that a little bit. But, um, so for the
Speaker:auction, he donated a signed jersey and
Speaker:would not let me Venmo him for the shipping. And I
Speaker:said, bud, I said, when I see you, I'm gonna shake your hand with a 10
Speaker:spot in it. Did it on his own. He's in the
Speaker:middle of football season.
Speaker:>> RB: I love it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He's just having a baby, and, you
Speaker:know, and then there he is worrying about sending Bash a, uh,
Speaker:jersey for the auction. But he did it, and he did
Speaker:it with his heart, so he's a great man. See,
Speaker:humans like that. We need more of.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, Walks and I. We've been back to
Speaker:walks. Walks and I've been talking. We like where our games
Speaker:are at right now, and, uh,
Speaker:see if we can cause a Little havoc in the member guests.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, it's going to be fun. I'll be rooting for you. If I can
Speaker:get in on any action, um,
Speaker:please let me know.
Speaker:>> RB: I just hope I didn't do it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I would like to take you. And you had a match against a high schooler. You were on the
Speaker:ropes a little bit over there at the Moose Club, sending me
Speaker:updates, you know, getting waxed a little bit early.
Speaker:>> RB: And I mean the kid went from giving me one shot
Speaker:a hole. He's 22 years old. Joey Gatis
Speaker:give me one shot a hole to needing four, was 22
Speaker:shot swing. So I gave him his four. I was two down through two,
Speaker:got it to um, one
Speaker:up, two up, three up on the front nine
Speaker:and um, on the back, man, he made a four
Speaker:for three on 17, a part of five and I made a four
Speaker:and uh, we were, I was one down on
Speaker:the back in all square overall,
Speaker:got the 18, he stuffs it to about four feet
Speaker:and I have like a little 15 yard pitch shot. Played it like a
Speaker:pot basically and went in and walked off with an
Speaker:eagle.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's awesome.
Speaker:>> RB: And uh, fired a little 65 on the boy.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean you're playing some good golf, dude. So, I mean the
Speaker:last, last time I played with you, you shot 68.
Speaker:>> RB: 68? Yeah, my last three were 67.
Speaker:68, 65.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's awesome, dude. I mean it helps, you know, when
Speaker:you can reach to par fives with the wedge, but honest to God, that's still
Speaker:good putting. Kidding.
Speaker:>> RB: Actually, part two par fives on, on that match,
Speaker:which I was really upset about.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Uh, uh, I
Speaker:know that's like us when we played the other day. We're scooting through and
Speaker:13's like the easiest hole.
Speaker:>> RB: You had 12 straight pars going in that hole.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, 12 straight pars, 13 easy par five. I
Speaker:make six. Oh, I kind of hit in the hazard
Speaker:on my second shot, but. Yeah, but Nate, birdie on
Speaker:you on the next hole. Dude. You made a nice 30 footer. And I
Speaker:made a 25 footer on top of you for two. He proceeded
Speaker:to shoot 68, 71 for this guy. But
Speaker:all is well in the golf world, people.
Speaker:Golf season is ending and summer
Speaker:is slowly winding down. School buses are going to be back
Speaker:out. So make sure you
Speaker:soak up the dog days of summer because they are here,
Speaker:here. And there's no better way to do it than to
Speaker:dive into the British Open this weekend. Royal Port Rush,
Speaker:Northern Ireland, with the players all in it.
Speaker:And it's gonna be a good one. It's gonna be a good one.
Speaker:So, Pepe, I got, uh,
Speaker:nothing else for you.
Speaker:>> RB: I got nothing else. Uh, chasing underscore
Speaker:Birdies. Follow us.
Speaker:Um, I know over the next week and a half, you're gonna
Speaker:see a lot of content from us, from the event. And,
Speaker:uh, which, speaking of, you need to reach out to that guy for some
Speaker:video stuff table.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So, yeah, you're right.
Speaker:>> RB: But you all have a good week. Enjoy the British Open,
Speaker:and please talk to the media when you get a chance.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Talk to the press. The press wants to hear from you.
Speaker:But as always, guys, we appreciate you tuning
Speaker:in to this week's episode of, uh,
Speaker:Chase and Birdie's got a big. Give a big shout out over to
Speaker:simpler Media. Ali, Emily and Evo for putting this thing
Speaker:together on the fly, getting this thing out on time
Speaker:because it's two hosts were a little late. And thank
Speaker:you to Rachel London and Jacqueline de
Speaker:Paterio for your social media help.
Speaker:We hope you all have a blessed weekend.
Speaker:Enjoy the final major of the year at Royal Port
Speaker:Rush, and we will catch y' all
Speaker:in two.
