This podcast is for you, the Modern Man. I'm Dr Anne Truong,

Speaker:

your host. I'm an intimate health medical doctor and best

Speaker:

selling author of the book, Erectile Dysfunction Fix. I'll

Speaker:

do a deep dive into sexual health and performance and how

Speaker:

it affects men of all ages and backgrounds. So let's get

Speaker:

started, and be sure to visit my website at

Speaker:

sexualhealthformenpodcast.com for more information and

Speaker:

resources from the show. See you on the inside.

Speaker:

Hello there, Modern Man. I'm Dr Anne Truong. I'm a sexual health

Speaker:

medical doctor for the last 27 years and I've treated over 7000

Speaker:

men with ED. In today's episode, we're gonna talk about how your

Speaker:

erection is tied to your heart. And stick around because this is

Speaker:

something that every man and their partner should know.

Speaker:

Did you know that problem down there could be an early warning

Speaker:

sign of serious heart issues. We'll break down the signs, the

Speaker:

risk, and what you can do to keep both your heart and your

Speaker:

love life healthy. Now let's get down to the basic. Erection

Speaker:

really rely on healthy blood flow. If you're aroused, your

Speaker:

body releases nitric oxide. Your brain is released, and nitric

Speaker:

oxide then relaxes the smooth muscle of the penis arteries,

Speaker:

which then allow blood to rush into the penis and the muscle of

Speaker:

the corpus cavinosum. Now here's the kicker, the arteries

Speaker:

supplying the blood to the penis are smaller than those supplying

Speaker:

to the heart. The arteries that go to the penis is about one to

Speaker:

two millimeter. It's about the size of an ant. The artery that

Speaker:

goes to the heart, it's between three to four millimeter. So

Speaker:

what that means is that if you have any plaque buildup or

Speaker:

narrowing of the arteries, it will show up sooner in the

Speaker:

penis. Now imagine plaque buildup as something like this.

Speaker:

So this is like your artery right here, and it's a small

Speaker:

artery, one to two millimeter right? And then plaque buildup.

Speaker:

Think of it like little fat build up that gets stuck on the

Speaker:

lining of the blood vessel. Think of the blood vessel like a

Speaker:

pipe, and there's the inner lining, and it's lined by the

Speaker:

endothelium cells. And so if there's fat that's stuck on the

Speaker:

side of the blood vessel, then it prevents blood to fill the

Speaker:

blood vessel. It's an obstruction. So that's what

Speaker:

plaque buildup is about. But if you have blood vessel that is

Speaker:

like one to two millimeter, so so small, a little plaque

Speaker:

buildup will actually restrict the blood flow to the penis.

Speaker:

Does that make sense? I hope so. So think of it like it's a

Speaker:

canary in a coal mine, because it the smaller arteries are

Speaker:

showing signs of trouble. It's a strong indicator that the larger

Speaker:

arteries, like the heart, might be experiencing issues as well

Speaker:

too. So the key takeaway is that ED can be an early warning sign

Speaker:

of heart disease or cardiovascular disease.

Speaker:

Having said that, that's why I created Good Morning Wood

Speaker:

smoothie. It's full of antioxidant, full of nitric

Speaker:

oxide, that you make every day, and drink it every day, and you

Speaker:

may see some changes within a few weeks. So check out the

Speaker:

recipe. Go to the site, goodmorningwoodsmoothie.com, or

Speaker:

check the link down below, right here to get your recipe for the

Speaker:

Good Morning Wood smoothie. Now let's get back the heart

Speaker:

connection. Why did this matter? Well, heart disease, or

Speaker:

cardiovascular disease, is the leading cause of death. Yes,

Speaker:

death. You heard me correctly. So plaque buildup, or condition

Speaker:

called atherosclerosis, can restrict blood flow to the

Speaker:

heart, leading to chest pain, a condition called angina, heart

Speaker:

attack, and even stroke. So it starts in your penis, then it

Speaker:

goes to your heart, then it goes to your brain. So if you're

Speaker:

experiencing ED, it could really mean your heart is at risk.

Speaker:

Okay, Modern Man, you are not alone and you don't have to

Speaker:

suffer anymore. ED can feel isolating, frustrating, and even

Speaker:

defeating. The endless guessing, the quiet shame, the weight of

Speaker:

not feeling like yourself is exhausting. But here's the

Speaker:

truth, you are not broken. You are not alone. You don't have to

Speaker:

figure this out alone anymore. The Get Wood Now Boost Program

Speaker:

is your step by step, path to sexual confidence and

Speaker:

restoration. No more suffering in silence, no more trial and

Speaker:

error, just real solution, real result and the confidence you

Speaker:

deserve. It's time to take back your power on your term. Let's

Speaker:

get this journey started together. Check out the course

Speaker:

at getwoodnow.com. I'll see you there.

Speaker:

Studies have shown that men with ED are significantly more likely

Speaker:

to develop heart disease within a few years. So it's not just

Speaker:

coincidence. It is a direct link. About 67% of men with ED

Speaker:

can develop heart disease within 7 to 10 years. So ignoring ED

Speaker:

could mean ignoring the serious heart issue. So it's a wake up

Speaker:

call, guys, so it's not something to be embarrassed

Speaker:

about. It's to know that, hey, if you have ED, you may have

Speaker:

heart disease down the road, and therefore it is not something

Speaker:

you want to ignore. And therefore it's not something

Speaker:

that you want to take an ED pill for and ignore the reason why

Speaker:

you may have ED in the first place. And honestly, there are a

Speaker:

few conditions that cause ED. Is it high blood pressure? Is it

Speaker:

high cholesterol? Is it your diabetes? Smoking will cause ED,

Speaker:

as well as a lot of alcohol, and you're not exercising and you're

Speaker:

overweight. Those are the main conditions that will contribute

Speaker:

to ED. So if you have ED, you really need to ask yourself

Speaker:

those questions and also go get some blood work. You know if you

Speaker:

have high cholesterol. You will know if you have diabetes by

Speaker:

your hemoglobin A1C and your blood sugar. And you will know

Speaker:

whether you even have inflammation. So go get blood

Speaker:

work done. Just a basic CBC, a Chemistry 14, and hemoglobin

Speaker:

A1C. And check your testosterone level as well.

Speaker:

So the good news is many of the lifestyles that I talked about

Speaker:

can improve your heart and also improve your erection as well.

Speaker:

So it's a win-win situation. So how do you improve your erection

Speaker:

and your heart health? Well, the Mediterranean diet. When you eat

Speaker:

a Mediterranean diet, you will lower your blood sugar. You will

Speaker:

actually also lose weight as well too, because if you feed

Speaker:

your body with real good foods, it will not be as hungry. So

Speaker:

what's the Mediterranean diet, it's the diet full of

Speaker:

vegetables, fruit, and lean meat such a chicken and fish.

Speaker:

Essentially, eat what the Earth grows for you. What the earth

Speaker:

gives you. Don't eat anything in the box or plastic. Okay? Then

Speaker:

on top of that, how do you lower blood pressure and diabetes and

Speaker:

also high cholesterol? Also, regular physical activity will

Speaker:

reverse those condition and improve blood flow throughout

Speaker:

your body. Exercise 30 minutes, a moderate intensity exercise,

Speaker:

four times a week. What's moderate intensity exercise?

Speaker:

Like fast walking a mile, less than 20 minutes, rowing,

Speaker:

bicycling, and you don't have to run, just brisk walk, and even

Speaker:

lunges or high intensity interval exercise. And then on

Speaker:

top of that, quit smoking, limit your alcohol, less than 14

Speaker:

drinks a week. Manage your stress. How do you manage your

Speaker:

stress? Exercise more and then we'll talk about deep breathing

Speaker:

and how to breathe for better erection in the next episode.

Speaker:

So if you're experiencing ED, don't hesitate to talk to your

Speaker:

doctor. It is not shameful at all. It happens to 50% of men.

Speaker:

It doesn't show that you're weak or it doesn't show anything

Speaker:

other than you're really preventing your heart disease

Speaker:

and preventing death later on. So it's not just about your sex

Speaker:

life, it's about your overall health as well. Also get your

Speaker:

blood work, get your cholesterol checked, get your blood sugar

Speaker:

checked, your testosterone checked, get your liver, get

Speaker:

your kidneys checked as well, and your blood count. So

Speaker:

essentially, get a CBC, a Chemistry 14, a hemoglobin A1C,

Speaker:

and your total testosterone and pre-testosterone level checked

Speaker:

as well. So these changes will not only improve your erection,

Speaker:

but it will also help you live longer, prevent heart disease.

Speaker:

It will also help your energy level, your mood, and overall

Speaker:

quality of life.

Speaker:

So there you have it. Your erection is more than just a

Speaker:

physical function. It's a vital indicator of your heart health.

Speaker:

Take control of your health. Make the lifestyle changes, and

Speaker:

don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. A healthy heart means a

Speaker:

healthy you in every way. A healthy you means a healthy

Speaker:

erection, healthy sex life as well.
