Welcome back to schooled in socials. As a business owner, nothing feels worse than putting time and effort into something and then not seeing any returns or progress because of it. And I can almost bet that some of you might be feeling that way about social media, but today I'm gonna flip the script for you and show you how to celebrate your social media wins because they are there.

The first reason you're probably feeling like you haven't made any progress with social media marketing is that you don't have any goals around it. It's really hard to see progress and celebrate wins when you're just going off, how many notifications pop up each time you open the app or you scroll through your posts quickly seeing how many likes you have. When we get specific about what we want to achieve with our social media marketing, that's when we can more easily notice and celebrate the wins along the way. So the key here is to create a few social media goals that help you make progress towards your big business goals. Not only is this going to give you a little boost in the wins department, it's also going to help you get more focused on the content you create, making moving the needle towards your big business goal easier than before. When I create social media goals for my clients, I always start by asking them what their overall business goals for the quarter or the year are. What are they trying to accomplish? And a lot of times, I hear things like they're looking to grow their email list so they have more people to nurture and sell to there. They're looking to drive more traffic to their TPT stores. They're looking to successfully launch a course or a membership or a new offer, and that overall goal that they tell me about is what becomes the backbone of all of our social media goals that I track as I create content and data mine for them. So if I was working with a client who was looking to grow their email list, I would create social media goals that sound something like this, I would have a goal around increasing the amount of non followers who are seeing their content, increasing the amount of engagement we're seeing on posts and increasing either like the number of comments on posts where we promote lead magnets, or an increase in the number of link clicks we see per post when we promote those lead magnets. If we want more people on your email list, we've got to get more and new people to see your content. So that's why we want to increase those non followers who are seeing your content. We've got to get them engaging with you. We want them to be a warm audience. So you want to keep an eye on that engagement, and we've got to get them to take action and request one of your lead magnets. And so I would be working towards increasing those three things with all the content that I create for my client. And this process of creating social media goals is actually something I teach directly in my Post and Profit Course, because having them is such a necessity for success.

Now, once you have some goals to work towards, the next step is to get your eyes on the data. You can't know you're making gains and have wins to celebrate without the data, and you don't have to keep your eye on all of it, just the data that matters for your goals. So if I was looking for more non-followers to see my content, more engagement from followers and more Link In Bio clicks or comments on lead magnet posts to grow my email list, like we just talked about, I would keep an eye on my non follower reach, my engagement, my link clicks, and my comments. And of course, overall, I'd be keeping an eye on that subscriber number on my email marketing platform, and when any of these KPIs increased, or I had a post that did better than before with non-follower reach, or engagement, I would take a minute to celebrate, because that all means we're moving in the right direction.

And of course, once we have all the tech stuff out of the way, we've actually got to celebrate those wins. We can't just let them pass us by. So make sure you have a spot to track the data points from social media that will help you get to your big business goals and make a habit of checking in on them at least once a month. Then make sure you take time to celebrate. Maybe that looks like going to grab a coffee from your favorite little cafe after you reach a certain number of non followers. Maybe that looks like sharing a screenshot of your Instagram professional dashboard with your biz besties so you can all celebrate together. Or maybe it just looks like a little happy dance at your desk, which happens to be my favorite, by the way. Either way, just make sure to take the time to recognize the steps you are taking in the right direction, even if they seem small. Some wins I've celebrated on my own account, actually having someone share my content when the CTA was to share my content, seeing someone watch my stories day after day, getting more than 200 views on a reel. All of those have gotten me to stop and do my little happy dance at my desk to celebrate. Again they might seem small, but all of those things are stepping stones to me reaching my social media goals and thus making my big business goals a reality.

I promise you have social media wins to celebrate. Don't get caught up in all of the noise out there. All you need to do is identify your goals, keep your eyes on the data, and when you make a gain, make sure you stop and throw yourself a little party.

Now if even the thought of having to think of goals or look at data to help you celebrate feels like too much for you, don't panic. I've got ways that we can still easily celebrate your wins together. You could hop into my course and learn more about creating strategic, data driven content so it doesn't feel like such a big beast to tackle, or you could tap me on the shoulder and get me to create your goals and hop into your data each quarter, so that you can know exactly what content to create and see all of the wins you're having onsSocial media. You can learn more about each of those right in the show notes.
