Hello and welcome to day four of my go live challenge.
Speaker AI'm going live for 10 days in a row, so Thursdays.
Speaker AI don't normally do a video on.
Speaker BThursday, but I decided that we would.
Speaker AStart with a Thursday thought.
Speaker AAnd in this video I'm going to explore kindness and the transformative power of acts of kindness, of being kind and.
Speaker BNaturally kind to other people, and also how they can create a ripple effect.
Speaker AOf positivity in your life and in your community.
Speaker BHow by being kind can shift somebody's day.
Speaker AA kindness isn't just about being nice, it's a little bit more than that.
Speaker AIt's also about maintaining healthy boundaries and.
Speaker BExamining your ulterior motives, if you have.
Speaker AAny, for being kind.
Speaker BSo the power of kindness.
Speaker ALet's start there.
Speaker BActs of kindness have the incredible power to brighten someone's day, foster connection and create a ripple effect of positivity.
Speaker BWhether it's a simple smile, holding the door for someone, or offering help to.
Speaker AA stranger, these small gestures can make a big difference.
Speaker BI remember when I lived in London.
Speaker AAnd I used to have a hour.
Speaker BAnd a half, two hour commute.
Speaker BMy challenge to myself every morning was to raise a smile on at least three people.
Speaker AAnd I used to do that with.
Speaker BEveryone that I met.
Speaker ASo if, if I engaged with one of the station staff, my idea was.
Speaker BTo chat with them, to at least get them to smile, to try and brighten their day a little bit, because especially during winter, it could be a.
Speaker ABit of a grim job standing on platforms all day.
Speaker BSo that was like my little contribution on the way to work.
Speaker BAnd it kind of carried on throughout.
Speaker AThe day because it became a habit.
Speaker AAnd that impact means that if they're.
Speaker BSmiling, they're potentially going to be kinder.
Speaker ATo the next person they meet.
Speaker ASo it can make a big difference, can have that ripple effect.
Speaker BNow it's crucial that our kindness comes from a place of authenticity.
Speaker AI don't want anything other than to make someone smile.
Speaker BSo true.
Speaker AKindness isn't about seeking praise or recognition.
Speaker BIt's not about being seen as a good person.
Speaker BGenuine kindness stems from a sincere desire.
Speaker ATo make a positive impact without expecting anything in return.
Speaker BIt was one of the pitfalls of.
Speaker AKindness, especially if you have an unconscious need to get recognition, is that of excessive people pleasing.
Speaker AAnd that's where it gets tricky.
Speaker BSometimes in our eagerness to be kind, we can fall into the trap of excessive people pleasing.
Speaker BWe might say yes to every request.
Speaker AAnd neglect our own needs or allow.
Speaker BOthers to take advantage of our goodwill.
Speaker BAnd this isn't true kindness.
Speaker AIt's a recipe for burnout and resentment.
Speaker BSo maintain healthy boundaries while being kind.
Speaker AIt's about finding balance.
Speaker ABeing kind doesn't mean being a doormass.
Speaker BIt's essential to maintain those healthy boundaries.
Speaker AAnd say no when you mean no.
Speaker ABe assertive.
Speaker BUnderstand your truth and your own alignment and your own self care.
Speaker ARecognize your own limits and respect them.
Speaker AAnd understand that it is okay to.
Speaker BPrioritize yourself and your own self care.
Speaker BA kindness with ulterior motives.
Speaker AYou know, real kindness doesn't come with strings attached.
Speaker AWe're not looking for a return on investment, if you like.
Speaker BIt's not about creating obligations or expectations.
Speaker AWhen we perform acts of kindness, the.
Speaker BIdea is to do it without ulterior motives.
Speaker BThe joy should come from the act of kindness itself, not from what you.
Speaker AMight get in return.
Speaker BSo here's some practical examples in addition.
Speaker AFor instance to making, you know, raising.
Speaker BA smile on the way to work.
Speaker AIf you're traveling on public transport, it.
Speaker BCould be helping a colleague with a project.
Speaker BIf you know they're struggling and you.
Speaker AKnow that you can maybe take some of the burden.
Speaker BAnd again, setting clear limits on how.
Speaker AMuch time you can spare.
Speaker ABut maybe saying, you know, I've got.
Speaker B15 minutes, minutes, if this.
Speaker AIs there anything I can help with?
Speaker AYou can volunteer.
Speaker BEspecially around Christmas time.
Speaker AWe're moving into the Christmas period and.
Speaker BThere'S so many opportunities to volunteer to help out.
Speaker BSo find a cause that you're genuinely passionate about and that you know that you have a skill that you can.
Speaker AContribute and help out.
Speaker BBut even if it's just helping someone.
Speaker AWith their shopping or walking with someone.
Speaker BAcross a road, maybe if they're disabled.
Speaker AOr elderly and not quite able to.
Speaker BMake it themselves on their own, being.
Speaker AThere to help them, to give them that support, even if just standing with them can sometimes give them the support they need.
Speaker AWhen our kindness is genuine and balanced.
Speaker BWith healthy boundaries, it creates meaningful connections and it fosters a more compassionate world.
Speaker BAnd it can create that riffle effect with someone going on like the pay it forward.
Speaker AAnd because you've.
Speaker BYou've shifted their state that they're going to show up in a much more.
Speaker APositive way with the people that they meet.
Speaker AAnd therefore you're making a positive impact.
Speaker BWithout depleting your own emotional resources and.
Speaker AWithout expecting anything back.
Speaker AAnd just the sheer joy of knowing that that positivity is being paid forward is enough.
Speaker ASo as we go about our day.
Speaker BToday, let's challenge ourselves to practice authentic kindness and compassion.
Speaker BBe generous with your compassion, but Also, be mindful of your own well being and remember, the most sustainable kindness comes.
Speaker AFrom a full cup, not an empty one.
Speaker BSo thank you for tuning in to this first Thursday thought and until next.
Speaker ATime, keep spreading kindness, authenticity and wisdom.
Speaker AAnd tomorrow is Friday Features.
Speaker ASo I shall be back then.
Speaker BBut I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Speaker AIn the comments or if you want to leave something below the video if you've practiced kindness today while maintaining those healthy boundaries and you know, applying it wisely to the people you meet.
Speaker ABut would be lovely to see some comments about that.
Speaker AAnd tomorrow, as I say, I shall.
