David:

Nikola Tesla may have understood something about reality that most people still don't understand today. And I'm not talking about alternating current. I'm not talking about wireless electricity. I'm definitely not talking about all the conspiracy theories surrounding Tesla and free energy. I'm talking about what Tesla believed was actually happening underneath physical reality. Because here's a man who could see an invention completely finished in his mind before he ever built it. He would visualize the machine, assemble it in his imagination, run it, watch where it failed, make adjustments, all without touching a single physical component. And then he would build it. Tesla spent his entire life studying energy, frequency, vibration, resonance, and transmission. But some of his most fascinating ideas weren't about electricity at all. They were about us. Where does an idea come from? What is intuition? Why did Tesla describe the human mind as something like a receiver? And is it possible that the same basic principles Tesla used to understand the invisible forces of nature can teach us something about how the invisible forces within us, our beliefs, our imagination, our emotions, our consciousness, shape the lives we ultimately create. Because Tesla didn't just leave behind inventions, he left behind a philosophy of reality. And in this episode, I'm going to break that philosophy down into 5 principles, principles about energy, consciousness, intuition, and the invisible forces that shape our lives. And by the end, you may realize that Tesla's greatest contribution wasn't simply helping us understand electricity, it was helping us understand reality itself. So let's get into it.

Welcome to A Changed Mind.

All right, guys. Now, before we get into Tesla's principles, you have to understand something about Tesla. Tesla was obsessed with what could not be seen— electricity, magnetic fields, electromagnetic waves, frequency resonance. These things are invisible to our eyes, and yet they can produce very real effects in the physical world. And that's important because one of the biggest mistakes we make as human beings is assuming that what we can see is what's most real. We look at the circumstances of our lives, like our bank account or our relationships or our business or our health or the problems that we're facing, and we assume that those circumstances are actually the cause. But what if they're not the cause? What if they're effects? Tesla's entire career was built around understanding invisible forces well enough that he could produce visible results. And that's really where I want us to start. So principle number 1, everything begins with energy. There's a famous quote attributed to Tesla. He says, if you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration. Now, whether Tesla actually said those exact words is disputed. But the principle absolutely describes the world Tesla spent his life studying. Matter is not as solid as it seems. Light behaves in ways that challenge our ordinary perception of reality. Electromagnetic fields surround us even though we can't see them. The world that you experience as solid and fixed is much stranger than our senses would have us believe. And here's where this becomes useful. Because, You have an internal state. At any given moment, you're experiencing some emotion. It could be fear, anger, shame, gratitude, excitement, love, possibility, certainty. And those states are energetic you. So those emotions are a felt nervous system and your nervous system is electrical. So when you're thinking thoughts and feelings and having emotions, you're broadcasting a frequency of energy that influences the energetic reality around you. And more practically, these states determine what you notice, what you believe is possible, what you believe is impossible, the decisions that you make, how you communicate, and they affect how other people respond to you. So whether or not you want to use the word frequency, your internal state is constantly influencing the reality that you're creating, and you're always operating from one of two states, either a primal state or a powerful state. When you're in a primal state like stress or anger or overwhelm, you're operating Through fear, scarcity, stress, and survival. And when you're in a powerful state, you're operating through love, possibility, excitement, gratitude, and purpose. So you can have the same person in the same world with a completely different experience of reality and eventually completely different results. So like Tesla said, everything starts with energy. Whether you're looking beyond the material world into the quantum world where everything is potential or energy, or whether you're looking at the results that you produce in your life, That start out as beliefs or thoughts or emotions. When you understand that everything is energy, you can start working at the causal level and actually create change in your life. Principle number 2, the mind is a receiver. This is where Tesla gets really interesting. There's a quote attributed to Tesla that captures this idea perfectly. He says, my brain is only a receiver. In the universe, there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength, and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, But I know that it exists. And Tesla reportedly described his brain not simply as the source of his ideas, but as something more like a receiver. And his view was that thoughts or information or consciousness, rather than being produced by the brain, may be a fundamental force of the universe, like gravity or mass. And in this way, consciousness came into being when the universe began and exists everywhere and in everything. And the brain is a device like a radio receiver that can tune into that field of information. Now, he's not the only one who thought this. A similar view was put forward by the philosopher Robert Forman, who suggested that consciousness exists as a kind of field outside the brain, and that the function of the brain is to pick up consciousness like a radio receiver and then to channel it into our individual organism. And based on this understanding, Tesla was able to access information that was unavailable to most people. Again, he wrote about seeing his machines in his imagination with incredible clarity. He could Construct them mentally, run them, inspect them, modify them. And only after the invention had been developed internally would he then build it physically. And think about what that means, because his inventions existed as complete in his imagination before they existed in the world. And this is one of the most important principles of creation. Everything human beings create exists internally before it exists externally. Like a building exists in someone's imagination before the concrete is poured. A company exists as an idea before it has any employees. A book exists in consciousness before there are words on a page. Your future works the same way. And this is what the great mystic Neville Goddard meant when he spoke about the 4th dimension and all of creation already being done. So before something becomes your physical experience, it exists as information or energy or possibility in the field. And when you have an idea, you aren't actually producing it from within yourself. You're tuning into that information that exists in the field. And this idea of a field of information is not exclusive to Tesla or to Neville. The Hindus refer to this field as the Akasha, where all information is stored of all time. The New Thought movement referred to it as the ether. There was this idea that, you know, you can pick up on someone else's thought as it moves across the ether. Modern science relates to it as the unified field. And even in Star Wars, it's the Force. The Force is around you. The Force is with you. The Force is in you. The Force is you. And when you're operating from joy and curiosity and excitement, which are powerful states, you put yourself in a position to tune into high-quality information that you can then translate into ideas, workflows, and decisions that when constructed become your material reality, that create prosperity, abundance, wellbeing, peace, influence, authority. But when you're operating from stress or anxiety or fear or overwhelm, what we would call primal states, You're tuning into thoughts and ideas that will create more problems, more scarcity, more stress for you. So again, all of creation, all possibilities exist in the field. What your brain has access to depends on where you put your dial. Where you put your dial is determined by what state of being that you're operating from, what emotion or frequency that you're in. Principle number 3, the invisible shapes the visible. So this brings us to the 3rd principle. There's another famous quote attributed to Tesla. He said, The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence. Now think about what he's pointing toward: the possibility that some of the most important forces governing our experience may not be immediately visible or measurable through our ordinary senses. Most of what determines the direction of your life, in fact, is invisible. Like, you can't see a belief. You can't see an assumption, you can't identify an expectation, or you can't visibly see an identity, but you can see what those things produce. Like, if I believe I'm not good enough, that belief affects how I show up. If I believe money is difficult to make, that belief changes my decisions around money. If I believe people can't be trusted, I'll behave differently in relationships. And then something fascinating happens. The behavior created by the belief produces circumstances that reinforce the belief. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. You say, see, I knew it. I knew I couldn't trust people. I knew I wasn't smart enough. I knew money was hard to make. But when we really analyze how we produce results in our life, it's not the experience or the situation that determines what we believe or how we feel. The belief or the feeling always precedes the experience. In other words, this is not a question of which came first, the chicken or the egg. The belief, the thought, the emotion always produces the result. It just seems like the result is causing us to feel that way because of this loop. This is actually referred to in psychology as a psychocybernetic loop. What you believe becomes your reality and then reinforces itself. So your reality has no choice but to prove that my belief was actually true. Ford had a great quote on this. The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right. And that's why changing your life only at the level of circumstances can become so frustrating. Like, people try to change their strategy or a different business or a weight loss plan or take a different approach to meet someone who's their soulmate or solve their health problems, but they keep getting the same result. Why? Because ultimately, until you change the real cause, the foundation, which are your beliefs, your thoughts, and your feelings, no matter what action you take, you're bound to get the same result. And most people don't succeed, not because success is difficult, but because they try to change the visible without changing the invisible structure that's actually creating it. Principle number 4, resonance. So Tesla wrote, though free to think and act, we are held together like the stars in the firmament with ties inseparable. These ties cannot be seen, but we can feel them. And here he was talking about a frequency that permeates all of humanity. So this brings us to this resonance principle of Tesla's. Tesla understood resonance really, really well because in physics and engineering, resonant systems respond strongly under particular conditions. And Tesla learned how to work with oscillation and resonance and a lot of the electrical inventions that he did and his innovations. And I think there's a useful metaphor here for human beings because You have a resonance or a frequency too. You ever walked into a room and immediately felt somebody's anxiety or spent an hour with someone who's excited about life and noticed yourself becoming more energized? We influence one another. Our states are contagious, but there's even more to that contagion. The intelligence that you see in a hive of bees or birds who fly together and respond instantaneously as one changes direction, or if you've ever watched one of those David Attenborough nature films where they're underwater and there's a huge shoal of fish that looks like a superorganism. That invisible intelligence influences and connects all of us, all of humanity. That's what Tesla meant by being free to think and act, but held together to each other like the stars in the sky. We influence one another in profound ways. It's almost like each of us has a gravitational pull that affects the physics of everybody else. Right? You ever think about a friend and then they call you, you're needing some resource or other, and you meet some stranger who has exactly what you're looking for. Those coincidences and synchronicities are the byproduct of the frequency that we hold, the thoughts, the emotions that become our habits. And that's why some people seem to have all the luck and other people just can't seem to get a break. It's pretty mind-blowing when you realize that all of humanity is organizing and reorganizing itself on a moment-by-moment basis to reflect back to you what you believe. I mean, that's pretty incredible. It's like everybody's working for you. And, and I think this is one of the great mysteries of spirituality. You are someone else's mirror making unconscious decisions about what time you leave the house and what you grab for lunch as a way to create rendezvous to reflect back other people's long-held intentions. I think about all the hundreds, no, thousands of coincidences that had to happen for me to meet my wife. Like, just a month before meeting her, I made a decision with strong conviction that I didn't know how, I didn't know when, but soon I was going to meet a beautiful, intelligent Colombian woman and make her my wife. Now think about the specificity of that decision. And through a series of extraordinary circumstances, That I can look back on and see even started working before I even made the decision. One night, hours from my home, celebrating a friend's birthday, 2 weeks later, I met my wife, a beautiful and intelligent Colombian woman. As Tesla says, these ties cannot be seen, but we feel them. You ever get those little confirmations that you're on the right track? For me, it's when I see the number 33 on a sign or license plate. For you, it might be something else. But God has a way of winking at us and reminding us that we are all connected and never alone. Principle number 5, increasing human energy. Tesla said, the gift of mental power comes from God, divine being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power. So he's talking about how we can connect to the God power. And in 1900, Tesla published an essay with an extraordinary title, The Problem of Increasing Human Energy. And I want you to think about that title, Increasing Human Energy. Tesla was asking a much larger question than how to generate enough electricity. He was asking, how does humanity advance? What increases our capacity and what diminishes it? And I think this is where Tesla's philosophy becomes incredibly practical. Because every day you're either increasing your capacity or diminishing it. Fear consumes your energy. Resentment diminishes your energy. Internal conflict consumes your energy. Constantly fighting reality consumes an enormous amount of energy. And that energy, that trauma that we act unconsciously from creates a trauma-reflecting world. Think about the world today and the challenges that we face. As free humans. Censorship, captured government, corruption, endless wars, market manipulation, centralized power and wealth that uses the system to disenfranchise billions while a handful of elite prosper. But all of that, when we look deeply at it at a root cause level, is simply trauma externalized. It is the byproduct of human energy. But when you move into alignment When your thoughts, your emotions, your beliefs, and your actions align not with fear and trauma, but with faith and possibility, something shifts. We change. We become available for a higher intelligence, a higher purpose, and we become capable of creating a new system that represents truth. For Tesla, God's truth. We are able to access that level of intelligence to solve the problem of humanity. Not to tear down or resist or break down old systems or try to fight them, but instead to direct our attention to create something new from truth. That's one of the most inspiring things about Tesla's work is that he believed in abundance, he believed in freedom, and he believed that when you understand how to align yourself with truth principles, energetic principles, anything was possible. So when you put all 5 principles together, I think something really interesting emerges. Tesla spent his life Working at the boundary between the visible and the invisible. He understood what forces you cannot see and that they can produce effects that you absolutely can see. And maybe that's the most useful way to think about your own life, because your beliefs are invisible. Your imagination is invisible. Your emotional state is invisible. Your intuition, your identity, they're invisible. But the choices they produce are not. The relationships they produce are not. The businesses they produce are not. And the life they produce isn't. And this is why I don't think transformation begins with trying harder or hustling or grinding or manipulating the circumstances around you. It begins with understanding what's happening inside of you. You change the beliefs, you change the state, you change what you're available to perceive, you change the actions that emerge from that state, and eventually the physical circumstances have no choice But to begin changing too. So Tesla learned to work with invisible forces rather than merely reacting to their visible effects. And maybe that's the deeper lesson, because you can do the same thing with your life.
