DoorDash and Ibotta have teamed up to offer savings on everyday purchases.
Speaker AAccording to Progressive Grocer Boy, this is the heaviest grocery podcast I think we've done in a long time.
Speaker AAnd ibotta, the operator of the largest digital promotions network in North America, and DoorDash DoorDash have established a multi year strategic partnership to give DoorDash customers access to iBotta's catalog of digital promotions.
Speaker ABy joining the iBotta Performance Network, also known as the IPN, to DoorDash will be able to offer personalized promotions and coupons in a range of categories, among them grocery, health and beauty, home improvement and of course alcohol for CBG brands.
Speaker AThe partnership provides an opportunity to reach consumers across DoorDash's footprint of 115,000 plus non restaurant stores on its marketplace in North America.
Speaker AThe Ibotta provided offers are expected to be live across DoorDash's marketplace later this year.
Speaker AAnd yes, why do you view this Ibotta and DoorDash partnership as a quote must discuss?
Speaker BBecause Chris, I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but have you ever gone on DoorDash and you're like, I have no macaroni and cheese.
Speaker BI brought it back for our vacation.
Speaker BChris.
Speaker BI was like, I'm going to start getting macaroni and cheese for these vacations so that you can.
Speaker BAnd have you ever gone on there and you're like, I'm going to order macaroni and cheese, my kids want it.
Speaker BI don't have any left.
Speaker BAnd then you get all the way to the end and you're like, am I paying $20 for two boxes of macaroni and cheese?
Speaker BThis is insane.
Speaker BSo I think that you have a ton of drop off with people.
Speaker BEven DoorDash is still a convenience for people.
Speaker BAnd I think that sometimes with all the charges you get to a point where people are like abandoning the cart and they're like, I'll do something else or I'll go drive to the store and get it.
Speaker BBut with this partnership you start to chip away at some of those fees when you get a dollar off of the product or like everybody is winning here.
Speaker BAnd that's why I think this is so important.
Speaker BThe customers win because they get prices that are more comparable to what they'd be paying if they went to the store and bought this themselves.
Speaker BThey it kind of diminishes that threshold of like, should I do this or not?
Speaker BThen you also get doordash and Ibotta getting all this information now that they can use to provide me with more deals to learn more about my shopping behaviors.
Speaker BAnd then the brands get that information too.
Speaker BLike, oh, doordash is this great channel for me.
Speaker BMaybe I should be pushing out more.
Speaker BLike, everything here, I think, starts to add up to benefits for everybody around.
Speaker BIt's your old analogy of one plus one equals three.
Speaker BAnd I think that this is a great, great move and just kind of further solidifies DoorDash's penetration in this space, though.
Speaker BI think it's a great move.
Speaker BBut what do you think?
Speaker AYeah, no, those are really great points.
Speaker AI don't have a lot to add, but I think.
Speaker AI think you're dead on in terms of, like, the one issue with DoorDash that's still out there is like, is, am I getting a good price?
Speaker ARight?
Speaker AYou just don't know that.
Speaker AAnd so this gives you the confidence.
Speaker AAnd there's a lot of ways you could do this.
Speaker ALike, you give instant redeemable coupons, like, just by buying products that flow through this.
Speaker AI don't know how they're going to execute this, but.
Speaker ABut you're right.
Speaker AAnd that helps ameliorate that issue.
Speaker AThe other point that I think is interesting here, that I would just add is I have.
Speaker AI have been surprised about how often I'm using DoorDash to search for things.
Speaker BReally.
Speaker AAnd it's particularly.
Speaker AYeah, it's particular because I have the dash Pass.
Speaker AAnd, you know, what's happening most is with alcohol, actually, which is why I keyed in on alcohol in that read.
Speaker ALike, oh, where can I get this beer that I like?
Speaker AI know it's not going to be at my grocery store, but where can I find it?
Speaker AIs it available on the dash Pass Marketplace?
Speaker AIt's a regional beer.
Speaker AWho has it, who carries it?
Speaker ALike, that type of thing is happening for me.
Speaker AAnd the other place where I start to get intrigued, too, is with the double dash.
Speaker AI'm always, like, playing around with the double dash.
Speaker AI don't know if you've done that, but.
Speaker BOh, I do the double dash all the time.
Speaker BDo you?
Speaker BOh, wow.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker BEspecially traveling, like here, like, you know, we always got like, last night for dinner, I ordered my food from the restaurant and then double dashed my, like, drinks my bottled water and whatever.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker BAll to the room.
Speaker BAnd last night, actually, the first.
Speaker BFor the first time, I had the same person do both dashes for me.
Speaker BAnd it was amazing.
Speaker BI had such a good experience.
Speaker AWow.
Speaker AYou.
Speaker AYou double dash with the same person.
Speaker AAnne, that.
Speaker AThat's.
Speaker AThat's pretty awesome.
Speaker BSounds very Vegas of me, doesn't it?
Speaker AIt does sound, but.
Speaker AAnd you didn't keep it in Vegas.
Speaker AYou shared it with the world and.
Speaker BYeah, but jc, you're amazing.
Speaker AJc.
Speaker AJc.
Speaker AJC got five stars for his double dashing.
Speaker BAnd it did.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AYeah, he did.
Speaker AYeah, he did.
Speaker BBut.
Speaker AYeah, I mean, at the end of the day, I think it just.
Speaker AIt just makes doordash and the dash pass stronger.
Speaker AThis is a great idea, I think.
Speaker APart and parcel.
