Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I continue reviewing all of the topics that I talked about this year, and today, I want to talk about food and supplements as medicine, Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food. Food Food is literally one of our most powerful health tools, and when we use food as medicine, medicine, we literally can shift our health into being healthy and living a healthful life. It's so often the food on the shelves that are detracting from our health, the processed foods that are high in sugars, that are high in chemicals to enhance shelf life and allow more profit for the food industry, not to mention the GMO ingredients that allow them to make the food more cheaply. What we want to be doing is shopping the perimeter of the store where we're not getting all the stuff in boxes. And you know, people talk about reading food labels, I love to say the best food is the food that doesn't even have a label our produce, and then knowing where you're getting your chicken from your beef, from your pork, from etc. Do you know the farmer? If you can know the farmer and get food from a farmer who you know their farming principles, that's even healthier. Choose organic if you can't know the farmer, so that at least you know that the food that you're getting isn't laden with chemicals that are causing health issues. Down the line, there's you want to be choosing the anti inflammatory foods, like leafy greens, berries, fatty fish, so you can get your omega threes and get a lot of the nutrients that we really need in order to be able to thrive. You see, the standard American diet provides 17 one, seven of the needed nutrients in a day, and we need 99 zero. So that's, you know, not even 25% of the nutrients that we need. Is it any wonder we can't thrive when we are living on the standard American diet? Swap out sugary snacks with fruit or nuts. Instead, eat the rainbow. Try a new colored vegetable. Start making more meals at home and eating less meals out. These are all ways that you can improve your health simply by looking at your food. And I do have a program of eating the rainbow for kids. Because, of course, kids love to have check boxes, and they like to eat all the you know, look at the colors of the rainbow. So now you can be encouraging them to eat the colors of the rainbow.
