Welcome to the real mom's playbook where balanced becomes a lifestyle, brought to you by our premier sponsor The Breakfast Club Coffee Co. In Season three we are building good foundations with your Monday morning wake up. So fill your cup grab a notebook and let's get going
Welcome to episode 2 of the real mom's playbook. I'm your host Lisa Autry. In today's episode, we are going to set the stage for becoming a purposeful, confident mother by determining what's most important to you and how to lead with those values. Hope you are ready to up level.
First off, I would like to begin by thanking our premier sponsor of the Real Moms Playbook, The Breakfast Club Coffee Co, a brand who honors quality and connection in every cup you brew.
Today in my cup is the Java Estates from their newest Eden Collection. I always get mine in holy ground, so when I'm making coffee while everyone is sleeping, I don't have to grind up any beans. The Java Estates is a low acidity, Clean and natural coffee that embodies smooth, earthy flavors. Today, my barista Mia, who is my second born, made mine with a little bit of hot cocoa mix and a couple splashes of organic milk.
The hot cocoa mix brought out that sweet cocoa smell even more. Absolutely loved it. 10 out of 10 for today's flavor. Head on over to the show notes to grab Java Estates and explore all the incredible products from the Breakfast Club Coffee Co. Make sure you subscribe so you can save and get your caffeine fix consistently.
We all need that, right?
So I hope you did your homework from the last episode because we are building upon these goals and actions and now determining how to lead with your core values. If you haven't yet, you can go ahead and listen back to back since both released at the same time and then work through your homework on each.
I personally like to binge listen and then batch my work. It kind of helps inspire me and keep me in the flow.
Today, I want to help you set a new Tone to your life. You no longer need to wonder what's going to happen next. You also don't need to ask yourself what the heck is going on daily. And you most definitely can stop laying your head on the pillow each night going WTF did I even do today?
Understanding your values is really the beginning of this intentional transformation. The transition from struggling and chaotic to thriving and calm. I truly believe that we can achieve whatever we desire in this life as long as we understand what it is we truly desire. I love the quote from Patrick Lencioni, if everything is important then nothing is.
As moms, we have a hard time establishing true priority because we are being berated with constant questions, needs, and wants from everyone in our life pretty much 24 7.
Remember how I said last episode that we run on E 24 7? This is one of the reasons why.
I have found this true from women of all walks of life, whether you're a working mom, a stay at home mom or work at home mom, the demands seem endless and that causes us to lead in a totally reactive way.
Because of the constant demands, our own life priorities get muddy and we react. But over the next 10 episodes, I want to help you carve a new path for your life. One in which you are proactive and responsive. Not reactive.
This isn't a dream or a fairy tale, it can be your daily life.
One of intentional daily steps that have you feeling fulfilled and on point with tiny splashes of chaos. You know, if there's any little people in your life that need you, there is still going to be a little bit of chaos and that's okay.
I teach all of my clients to shoot for 85 percent success, 15 percent chaos management. There's no way that we can be perfect, but with God's grace, a daily plan and understanding our priorities, we can be successful the majority of the time. And to be honest, you find that the 15 percent chaos doesn't feel that heavy when you are in alignment in your life.
It kind of feels like little tiny bumps along a speeding highway.
So let's talk about how is this lifestyle achieved? We first need to determine our top five values and then what they mean to our life so we can craft the life we desire with intention. This isn't something where you're going to take a test and be like, well, that's great, and then never apply it to your life. We want to build on that intentional transformation with a beautiful foundation of knowing what's most important to you first and learning how to lead with that.
This is known as a values based lifestyle, and if you've been in my world for a while, you know I lead every first contact with this philosophy.
With your values as your foundation, all actions and goals are set. So we always have to know what's important, because that will dictate all of your steps moving forward.
You start living in alignment when you know your values and understand how to lead your daily life with them. Today, I want you to write down this affirmation and practice it over this whole week.
I design my life around what matters most. I'll repeat it one more time. I design my life around what matters most.
I want you to make a commitment to yourself today. That commitment is one of intention and dedication to creating a new path for yourself. I know how it feels when every day seems like an uphill battle, like you're running on E 24/7 and just trying to keep up.
But with my help, we are going to change that. Together, we are going to go on an amazing transformation where we see life differently, play a different game, and have fun in our motherhood journey. It is possible. So I want you to write down that affirmation and post it up somewhere where you can see it consistently.
It would also be a great idea to keep this affirmation near where you wrote down your goals from episode one and kind of almost keep a journal so that you can see how you're growing.
Now that I've got you pumped up, caffeinated, and ready for a lasting change. Let's dive into those values.
Your values are the things that are most important to you. I want to emphasize that. Most important to you. Not to everyone around you, not to other people that you are trying to please, but what is most important to you.
We first want to begin with where you are ultimately heading. It's really hard to hit a target you can't see. And so understanding where you desire to go with this is crucial for your ultimate path.
So grab your notebook. And I want you to write down the answers to these two questions. Question one. What do I want my daily life to look like? And question two. What does my daily life currently look like? So through this, we want to bridge the gap by understanding where we currently are against where we will be going.
It's important to see and be really honest with ourselves about where we desire to go, but also where we currently are, because it's really hard to hit a target you can't see and not understanding how far you are from it. Be open and honest with yourself here with these two questions. This is for you to learn and grow and start making some changes.
So being transparent with yourself is how you will grow.
Now it's time to brainstorm and determine those values. Those that have the Align program, if It's located within the show notes. If you don't currently have it, you can utilize that with the values list and the assessment to help you move forward with this process, because I personally know staring at a blank paper is really hard.
So within ALIGN, we have a nice list that you can pull from. You can rate, you can start putting in order. And then we also have an assessment that's online where you can take and it kind of helps divvy them out for you so then it pulls those top five. Because again, as Patrick Lencioni says, if everything is important, then nothing is.
So you can't look at a huge list of values and say, yes, they all are important. We want to put top five in a priority order so we know how to dictate our time going forward. So the goal of this is to determine your top five values. These are the aspects of your life that are the most important to you.
I'm emphasizing that again, you. We're crafting our life, not someone else's. I want you to pick five and then put them in order one being the most important and five being the least. It's still important in the lineup, but it's not the top priority.
We have tangible values like health, faith. Family, work, which are pretty easily understood, and then we have these intrinsic values like peace, security, freedom, that we need to ask deeper questions like, what does this mean to me in my daily life, and even, what does this mean to me, period. Because peace to you can mean very different than peace to me, same thing with freedom and even security.
So we want to understand what they actually mean to us in our daily life. So answer the question with those intrinsic values and you can do it with the tangible ones too. What does this mean to me in my daily life?
So really figure out what that looks like to you in your daily life.
Once you have these top five values, the next step will be to lead with them in your daily life so that you become aligned.
I want you to ask yourself these two questions.
Number one, am I currently leading my day with these values? A. K. A. am I fulfilling some aspect of them every single day?
And number two, if not, how can I live each of these values daily? So here's a couple of examples to help you move forward with this exercise, because if you've never done this before, it feels a little weird and that's okay. But remember, you can have a roadmap call with me.
I'll help guide you, you're not alone doing this. And the best part is once you get this locked in, All the things that come after it are far, far easier.
So number one, I'm just giving you guys a couple of examples. For health, I am currently focusing on nutrition, so I make sure I get in my daily shake and walk six times a week.
So when I look at that daily life, it's like I'm getting my Shakeology in and then I'm walking six times a week. And then, for example, for faith, I read my Bible every morning to start my day, I'm proud to say that I only have 40 days left and I'll have read the Bible cover to cover.
And that's something I've always wanted to accomplish my whole life. And I know personally for me, the closer I get to God, the more peace and freedom I feel in my life. And so that has to be at the forefront and on the coming episodes, I'll be sharing my values just so you guys can see that lineup like health and faith are at the top of my values list.
So when I'm looking at this, it's like, this is what this means to me for faith that I need to show up and be in the word every single day. And so when you look at this, it's like, okay, this is what this tangibly means for me to lead with my values daily.
When you start leading with intention, amazing things are possible.
I have time for my faith. my health, my family with homeschooling, my business, and I still get my naps in a couple of times a week, which is actually my favorite hobby, despite doing my podcast, writing another book, like I love those hobbies too, but napping takes the cake.
And so I want you guys to really think about what's most important to me, and I know it seems like when I just read this off that I do a lot, but when you look at every single thing I do in a day, it's in direct alignment with my personal values that fills my cup.
So rather than depleting my energy, it's so important to me and it's actually fueling me to get more done throughout my daily life. And there's a big difference between busy and productive. And that value based living creates the meaningful productivity that we all crave.
Now who is ready to lead with their values?
Remember, if you get stuck anywhere along the way, I am here to help. Your reminder for your values. Number one, these are the things you are going to say. Yes to think about saying yes to the things that are actually most important to you and not yes to everything else and everyone else.
Number two, these are the aspects that you put at the forefront of your life and your day.
And then number three, these are the things you create goals around for your future self.
So what is your next action step? You heard me mention it within this episode, but I highly recommend you grab ALIGN. That's my simple workbook and audio course that gives you the steps in order to create a life of calm, controlled living.
This also helps keep that forward movement as you're going through the season. When I say what's most important to you, you can repeat your top five values. This is the foundation of your daily life and where we're going to go with this whole season.
ALIGN helps you determine those values and understand how to implement them into your daily life.
Now, during this whole season, we're utilizing what's called the foundation series. That's my audio courses that are designed to help you take action in the three pillars of success, home, routine, and finances. The foundation series helps you begin your intentional transformation towards a peaceful, calm motherhood. So this whole foundation series includes Align, which is focused on values, Define, which is addressing stressful spaces in your home, Flow, which is adjusting your time for more freedom, and Grow, your start to financial fitness.
When you grab the foundation series, you'll get ALIGN along with all of these other programs at the best price. So it's essential tools that will support you and come in handy throughout this whole season. So if you want to grab one, I would recommend grabbing them all because this is not the last time you have heard about all of them.
