What isn't talked about as much is our energetic bodies, and so these are three of the reasons why I find that energetic hygiene is essential, and if you're someone who loves the science behind things like intuition and energy work, I like to think of it this way your nervous system is always picking up signals. I always imagine these conversations as it's like you and I having a tea and chatting about really important topics, especially at this time, and so today's topic, I hope, really gives you an opportunity to feel like you can exhale, to lighten some of the load, if you feel like you've been carrying a lot, if you've been recently feeling like your battery has just been running on low a lot, or maybe sometimes you've been honestly tapping into your reserves, or you've just been feeling like this overwhelm creeps in all the time, whether it's the overwhelm about just what's happening in the world, overwhelm what's happening in your life in different areas, or that feeling of just like I desire to feel, like I can just exhale and feel like I have space and feel like I'm not feeling like I'm carrying so much on my shoulders. Well, I hope this conversation really deeply nourishes you. So what I am so enthused to talk to you about today is the importance and the essential power of honoring your energy potential power of honoring your energy, the importance of energy care and honoring that. Your time is a very powerful, incredibly precious resource and it's finite, and though my philosophy is that your energy is actually your greatest life and business asset, I've found that we all have 24 hours in a day, right, we all have this specific allotted amount of time that's within the system known as a day.
Yet what I find is not all time is created equal and I'll share with you a specific example. So for myself, as an example, if you give me a task like reading a legal contract or agreement or operations, if I get handed tasks to put into a project management tool, I could do it for 30 minutes and I feel like the battery in my energy has gone down significantly and I'm going like, oh my gosh, I'm going to have to work hard to like re-uptake my energy for the rest of the day, whereas, in contrast, I can be doing client sessions. I could be in my Illuminate Gene Keys experience with clients for three times that amount of time, for 90 minutes, and I feel like so little energy comes out of my battery. I feel so present and in flow. I feel like when I end them that I feel like I really showed up. But I also don't feel that depletion energy, and I mean even when I think about sessions that I do that are even longer, like two and a half hours, like what I do with my concierge clients. I literally feel such a buzz of energy when I'm in those experiences because when you're doing things that are so aligned with what I call your zone of excellence, you are leveraging your energy to maximize your time, and so this is what I'm so here for us leaders honoring, especially if you relate to being an ambitious, highly competent, highly intuitive, sensitive leader. I think it's so important that we honor our energy and that we honor it as precious, and so what I desire to connect with today is such a big thing. I see all the time. It's something I have known in so many forms.
Burnout is something I have experienced in so many ways on my journey, and it's something I've walked with so many incredible, high-power, high-performing, visionary leaders that I've worked with through, and the thing that I think gets really often missed about burnout right is we can talk about burnout in terms of doing, doing all these things like where we just feel like our world, our schedules, everything is so overloaded and we have too much on our plate. What I like to always invite, though, is, a lot of times, burnout is showing us that something is misaligned, that we aren't working with our energy, that we're actually working against ourselves, and so I get very curious when burnout arises in myself in any ways, or I feel any of that energy arising, and in others, to get really curious about what am I being shown that my energy is desiring more of, and what am I being shown that my energy is needing less of? You know, like, where can I ensure that? I come back to the question you've seen me share in previous episodes about how can I ensure I'm putting my best energy into what matters most, and so especially for sustainable, long-lasting leadership, for creating these long-lasting legacies that I know we are all here for. I think it's so essential that we stop thinking that energy, as an example, is something woo-woo or something that we should just think of as a byproduct, but instead the actual resource we have, that we have the most leverage to compound in effective ways, that we have the most leverage to actually ensure that we are giving in the most aligned ways and we are also receiving in the most aligned ways giving in the most aligned ways and we are also receiving in the most aligned ways.
So I wanted to share with you something that I really think of as an essential as leaders, and this is what I call energetic hygiene. So energetic hygiene, to me, is all about ensuring that you take care of your energetic field. So, the same way you know that you need to brush your teeth, you know, wash your face in order to do that type of hygiene for your physical body. This is the type of hygiene that I find is essential to honor your inner world, to honor your energetic body. And to me, what your energetic body is is if you think about when you walk into a room and you can just immediately pick up the vibe, pick up the mood of a room, that part of you that can be in a conversation and be picking up dynamics that aren't being said, the same part of you that can be on a Zoom you know back-to-back Zoom calls for too long and feel overstimulated and feel like you are tapping out. All of that is your energetic body. And so I really find that when you make energetic hygiene a priority, what happens is it starts to feel like when you're living your life, when you're operating in your life, that again it's not that you're going upstream against yourself, but you start to feel like there's this extra momentum working in your favor and working with you.
It's how I find we best ensure that we are supporting ourselves, and I find it essential in our toolkit in self-leadership. And so there are three particular aspects that I find energetic hygiene supports us with. The first one is releasing what's not ours so so often. We live in a world where we're exposed to so much information. Social media has us picking up energetic data constantly. Right, there's all the people in your life who talk to you, all the different voices in your world. You know all the different perspectives and also, if you're listening, if you're really showing up for clients, if you're present with a lot of people too, what can happen is we actually pick up and carry with us energy from those different conversations, energy from those different tasks, energy from that time we were scrolling on social media, and so I find it's really essential that you really get clear of ways to actually release energy and ensure that you release the noise, the static and anything that's keeping you from truly being an honest connection to your truth, your voice.
The second piece that I find is why energetic hygiene is so powerful is it helps you to ensure that you stay connected to your zone of excellence and to your highest self, ensuring that you came here with very unique gifts. You came here with a very unique vision. You came here with a unique mission, and nobody else on the planet can tell you what that is, and that's, I think, one of the hardest parts of the human experience. We want to look around and be like well, they seem to have found the magic path to success. Let me follow them. And the truth of the matter is there's no box that you can fit in Like. You have a very unique way that you were created to show up as a very important puzzle piece for humanity, and so I find it so essential that we're really intentional about ensuring that we stay connected to that part of ourselves, because otherwise what happens is the external world loves to tell us who we are.
Then the third piece that I find is essential is it supports you with protection, energetic protection. So, again, we're exposed to. You know, we can all see how, in our day-to-day lives, physically, how we need to be honoring and alert and aware of our environments. In terms of protecting, being aware of our physical bodies, what isn't talked about as much is our energetic bodies. Again, all of the data, the information, the dynamics. We pick up on that, if we aren't intentional, we can carry, that we can take in as truth, instead of having a contained way that we honor our energy, where we can carry that we can take in as truth, instead of having a contained way that we honor our energy, where we can listen, we can be receptive, but we don't take it all on. We have deep discernment instead of letting ourselves be exposed to too much distortion.
And so these are three of the reasons why I find that energetic hygiene is essential, especially if you're someone who is working with large amounts of people in environments where you have a lot of stimulation around at different times. You're traveling it's so important and if you're someone who loves the science behind things like intuition and energy work. I like to think of it this way your nervous system is always picking up signals, and doing your energetic hygiene ensures that you're keeping the conditions clear for you to receive and respond in really powerful, impactful ways to the signals, and so I wanted to share with you a few specific rituals that are the ones that I find to be the essential ones that I share with all my clients as the ones to ground most in your energetic hygiene routine, and that would be and each one, you'll see, is focused on those three pillars I just spoke about, to make it nice and easeful, and so the first one is the ritual that's here to support you with clearing and releasing what's not yours. I personally, and I'll share you with the examples of what I love to do and what I offer and see clients love to do. So I love to shower. For me, water is an element I deeply, deeply connect with and so I love especially after intense client sessions, especially after, you know, doing a big project or something where I feel like whoa, I like really just channeled a lot of energy. Anytime I've been at like literally, as my husband knows, anytime I go to a dinner party, even if it's a brunch, like anytime I go to anything that's quite stimulating there's a lot of people, there's lots of conversation, there's lots of dynamics playing out. I always love to take a shower and for me, it's just as I shower, it's more than just taking a shower For me as I'm showering.
I set that intention of I release all that is not of highest service for me to carry. From this moment forward, I release it all and I send it back to source. From this moment forward, I release it all and I send it back to source. I release it all and I send it back to source with love, right, and it's just this energy of. It's not because there's again anything you're trying to fix it's just with intention, releasing us from naturally going into that tendency to just take on and carry one event, one experience with us throughout our lives and especially if you're someone working with a lot of clients doing deep, transformational work, find yourself very highly sensitive. I find that some version of a release ritual is so important to have on a daily basis and some other examples I've seen with clients.
So here's a fun thing I just will often explore with different clients clients is we all have different elements that we really resonate with, I find right. So for some of us, like myself, it's water, for others it's fire, for others it's earth, right, for others it's air. I find in particular that earth and yeah, I would say I was going back and forth on like fire or earth, but I'll go with earth and water definitely seem to be like the main ones I notice a lot of clients feel connection to. I've had it with one client where, because she does a lot of work with her physical hands with her clients, she washes her hands after every client, or if she can't go and wash them, she'll have a bowl of water and she just honors. It's more than just washing. She'll honor again a prayer that as she's doing the washing, as she's doing the cleansing, she intentionally sets the knowing that she's releasing any energies that are not hers, any energies that are not of highest service for her to walk with, to carry and to just again send it back to source with love and then others.
I find love, earth, right. This is where going and grounding, going and putting your feet on earth, going and sitting under a tree. I have one client who has a tree in their backyard that they just love to go and sit under after and just have a moment. They sip their cup of tea and they just sit under the tree and they just give themselves that space to just be with the earth. And just as they're with the earth, as they're with the trees, as they're with the ground, they imagine that all energy again is just being released off of them and that they're being held and resourced again into that frequency of connection to themselves.
And then, just as a fun one also, I will say I do have some fire, some people who love fire, and I will say something that they love to do is actually especially around full moon, certain times of the month, where maybe you've just also gone through something quite intense or there's like something you really feel like you want to write out and really release that. It's a really powerful ritual to actually write out what it is, that you're ready to release, a dynamic, if you just believe systems and things within yourself that you feel like you've picked up as stories that are not true and are not serving your highest good, and just writing it down and burning a piece of paper, obviously with very intentional dynamics around keeping it safe. Yeah, so that's an example, and actually quite a few examples, for how I find others can really cultivate a ritual around supporting you with releasing what is not of highest service for you to hold and just clearing your field, lightening the load. The second one is the one linked to you staying in connection with your highest self. For me, I think of this as your remembrance ritual. I don't think any of us are on a journey to find ourselves or to fix ourselves. We're here to remember who we are.
One of my favorites, of course and this is something I have a lot of my clients do is to connect with a specific gene key. So the reason why I love connecting with a gene key is your gene key holds a specific code in your blueprint linked to a gift of yours, and I think it's so important that we stay consistently connected to our gifts, to our unique energetic gifts. We're here to carry so that way again, when the world keeps sending us messages of all the things we need to do and all the things we need to fix and all the things that we should do more and more and more of, we know how we best show up and serve and how we best utilize our energy. And I like to recommend and something I do with a lot of my clients, especially those I work with on a longer term basis is, every month to choose a different code. So I like to do it that way because every code has so much depth to it and so much to really connect with, with your shadow, with your gift, with your city. But I really love to invite a ritual that you do regularly where you're connecting, you're tuning into a specific gene key in your blueprint, especially one that's just linked to what would be of highest service to you right now. Right, so, right now, for example, I have one of my clients really focusing on her mission code, because I know that right now, given what she's navigating, what she's up leveling and how she's elevating. That's really what's going to serve her in her expansion. Another one focusing on her money code, so that way she can really tap into this next level of stewardship and honoring how and the ways in which she's truly being shown to connect with her identity as a steward of resource, as a steward of wealth in all of the different ways that she moves it and circulates it. This is an example of a remembrance.
Some other ways you can do this that I've seen is a journaling ritual spending 10 minutes every day, really just ensuring that you tap into your voice and connect with your voice and ensure that your voice is the one that you know the most intimately and is the most present, and not just the voice of our mind and our ego and all of our fears and all of our anxieties. I want you in connection to your highest self voice. Another one I give to a lot of clients too are visualizations. I will often create a bespoke visualization, something that's really tapped into their particular energy, and so finding a visualization of some nature that can deeply support you with staying in tune with your elevated self, with this highest self frequency, and actually I'll put in the show notes. I have a visualization that I have readily available for you that you can enjoy as a gift. That is called the Elevated Self Visualization. I think it's less than 10 minutes a day and it can really support you. I've seen incredible ways it has impacted those who have connected with it.
And then the third energetic hygiene ritual in your toolkit I'd love to invite you to connect with is a protection ritual. When I say protection ritual, this is not to make you get paranoid or afraid or go into these dynamics of again. I think there can be a little bit of a problematic discussion linked to like. I'll just use the empath example. If you're an empath or relate to being an empath, I of like I just take everyone's things on, like I can't help it. And what I love to invite you to honor, especially if you relate to being an empath, is to honor that you do have the choice and the ability to set the containment around your energy field, and so one of my favorite ways to do this it's something I do consistently, especially when I know I'm going to be traveling, I'm going to be going into a stimulating environment, going to an event like a wedding. Funny enough, I used to actually do this when I was also back in my tech days and working at really full-on conferences. I would go to the bathroom and do this.
But what you can do is I like to imagine putting a bubble around me. So I like to imagine that I really tune into the light within my heart space, to really connect there, to take deep breaths, to close my eyes, to spend some time being present with my body. Then to imagine that the light starts to expand across my whole body. To imagine that the light starts to expand across my whole body, down my spine, down my legs to my feet, down my arms, to my hands, up my throat, my face, my third eye, my crown. So really imagine the light of my unique energy filling up my body first, then imagining that I spread that energy to become a bubble around me. That's about a few inches, you can even make it a foot outside of yourself. And to really imagine this bubble of containment, to imagine that all around you is this bubble of light, it's your light. That's simply and lovingly being contained.
And then I always complete this ritual with just feeling gratitude, gratitude for my light, and just honoring the gratitude I feel in actually containing my energy and trusting that all energy that I experience in the day, all conversations, all energetic data that I receive, that I can receive it, I can listen, I can be present, but it doesn't come into my energetic body, that it comes towards me but bounces off my bubble. That I don't take on anything that is not of highest service and not mine. And so these are the three rituals that I love to set as just an invitation. Something I stand for is I give you these different rituals, these examples from my clients, as invitations for you to connect with what would serve you to make it your own, to do it your own way, and I recommend. I think all three of these are essential, like I shared, but I also love to always invite you to keep it simple.
So I'd love to invite you to choose one of these types of rituals first and to really commit to it. You know, to get really honest with yourself. You're like, have I been in a time where I feel like I just am taking on and I'm going to be taking a lot of people's energy on because of what I have as my commitments and what I'm navigating with my schedule, and for that to then choose to focus on a release ritual If you're noticing that there's been a disconnection from your vision. You're often not really honoring your light, you're not really honoring your gifts as much as you would love to to connect with the remembrance ritual, and if you're feeling like you're often in like very busy environments and there's just a lot going on or you have to be very active on social media or things like that to really honor a protection ritual, so that way you feel like you can put yourself out there, but to know that you feel contained within your field.
So the biggest thing I want to leave you with about energetic hygiene is it's not about being high vibe 24-7. It's not about always feeling like everything is working out and it doesn't also mean that you aren't going to be doing tasks or activities that are more draining for you. It's really about you being in such connection and in such a level of honoring of your energy and your inner world that you are working with yourself and not against yourself. An experience that I find so many people navigate is that they're doing so many incredible things in the world, but they feel like the entire experience. It's like they're walking through mud, everything feels a bit heavy, a bit harder to move and it just feels sluggish in a certain way, and I find that energetic hygiene supports you with getting yourself out of the mud and letting yourself feel that, as you go through your journey, you feel so much more connected and you feel so much more in flow with your natural gifts, talents and ways of being, and so I love it because I find it helps you stay in integrity with your inner world, which is so important, especially given all of the wide-ranging circumstances happening in our external world right now.
And so the biggest thing I'll leave you with is that, no matter what is happening around you, no matter what you're doing, how you're leading, the ways in which you're creating, my invitation for you is can you really honor what it means to walk as a steward of your energy, what it really means to honor the preciousness of your energy and to make the conscious choice to know that it is your responsibility, what you choose to give your energy to, and can you make the conscious choice to give it to what actually serves the highest good of your contribution on the planet, of your highest mission, of your highest vision and of the lifestyle and way of being that your end of life, 99 year old self is gonna look back and smile and said, yeah, you showed up, you gave it your fullest and you enjoyed the ride. We made so many incredible memories. Because that's all I ultimately desire for you to experience is to make a lot of meaningful memories on the journey.
