Speaker A

Everything we do is gold.

Speaker B

Everything we do is gold.

Speaker B

Okay?

Speaker B

So as I was just saying, I'm on the edge right now.

Speaker B

If anyone does anything annoying, I'm gonna.

Speaker A

Lose it because you came from the supermarket.

Speaker B

I can't.

Speaker B

You came from the supermarket.

Speaker B

Okay, Now, I'm not worried about you, Keith.

Speaker B

You're like probably one of the least annoying people I've ever met.

Speaker A

I'm annoying?

Speaker B

I don't expect you to say the same about me, but you are really not an.

Speaker A

That's actually funny.

Speaker A

I don't find you annoying at all.

Speaker B

Really?

Speaker A

Do people find you annoying?

Speaker B

I am a really obnoxious person.

Speaker A

Some people find me annoying.

Speaker A

I promise you.

Speaker B

Stupid people.

Speaker B

That's who.

Speaker A

Fuck those people.

Speaker B

Those people.

Speaker A

No, but I.

Speaker B

And that's why we're best friends.

Speaker A

That's why.

Speaker A

That's why we're about to do a podcast about loving people.

Speaker B

Loving.

Speaker A

Loving all people.

Speaker B

Loving all people.

Speaker B

So, Keith, it's.

Speaker B

It's Sunday.

Speaker A

It's February 2nd, 2025.

Speaker B

It's February 2ndnd, 2025.

Speaker A

You can mark.

Speaker B

You had a.

Speaker B

You had an idea and inspiration for today's show.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

But before we get into it, let's.

Speaker B

Keith wanted to go ahead and tell.

Speaker B

Tell our awesome listeners.

Speaker A

Okay, so first thing.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

So right now you're watching the get you some.

Speaker A

Technically speaking, this is the get you some productions podcast, which is a podcast about music production.

Speaker A

But today we're not going to be talking about that.

Speaker A

We're going to be talking about another brand that we're sort of a nascent brand that we're trying to work on that's more about self help.

Speaker A

But while we're at it, we might as well just say we are usually a podcast all about music production.

Speaker A

This particular show is probably going to appear in both places like.

Speaker A

And subscribe, leave a rating or review.

Speaker A

And we all so happen to be reverb affiliates.

Speaker A

We'll leave a link.

Speaker A

If you want to buy music production gear, any type of music gear, you can click the link, but yes.

Speaker A

So I thought that it would be cool if even though we have a bunch of music brands, we had this one self help brand, frankly.

Speaker A

Because who doesn't want to get.

Speaker A

Or self.

Speaker A

Not necessarily self help.

Speaker A

How about personal development?

Speaker A

More like that.

Speaker A

Cultivation of your.

Speaker A

Yeah, so that's why I wanted to talk to you today.

Speaker A

So I had this idea and I've been telling a lot of people about it now called the Masters of the Universe Club.

Speaker A

And it's really about people purposefully coming together, forming a kind of Group, Sort of like a mastermind group or just a network that.

Speaker A

Where everyone is on the same page.

Speaker A

Everybody wants to become the greatest person they can possibly be, but while doing good at the same time.

Speaker A

So I sort of thought of, like.

Speaker A

Kind of like a little bit of a slogan, in a sense, which is becoming great while doing good or becoming.

Speaker A

Maybe that's not so great, but it's like being the greatest you can ever be and being the goodest you can ever be.

Speaker A

Even though that's not real English, I feel like that sort of lands a little bit harder.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker A

The reason I'm talking to you today about it is because I.

Speaker A

Because I have a reminder on my phone that says to do something about it every once in a while.

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker A

And second of all, because I've been telling people about it, and people are interested, and I have no idea.

Speaker A

I need help.

Speaker A

So, actually, the one thing I was gonna say to you is that even though it seems like I'm driving the ship here, I need you more than you need me.

Speaker A

That's the message.

Speaker A

Because I need help figuring this shit out, and I need somebody to be there with me.

Speaker A

So while this happens.

Speaker A

So the problems I'm running into are.

Speaker A

First thing is when I talk to people about it having some sort of standardized way of messaging, like, they get an email.

Speaker A

After I have an email, after I talk to them about it, they either get a text or an email saying, this is what we're all about.

Speaker A

We're a community of people.

Speaker A

We want to become the greatest people we can possibly be, but also become the goodest people.

Speaker A

And we want to make the world a better place, but we also want to make ourselves better.

Speaker A

And hopefully one will lead to the other.

Speaker A

And then how to get these people into the funnel.

Speaker A

And what does this community look like?

Speaker A

Is it a Facebook group?

Speaker A

Is it an email list?

Speaker A

Is it a physical community where people show up together?

Speaker A

Is it all those things?

Speaker A

And not to be selfish, but how do we maintain control over this group so that we're guiding the mission and the values of it while accepting people in.

Speaker A

But how do we.

Speaker A

You know, ultimately, I'd like to actually make money on it.

Speaker A

So what I was talking to you in a priority podcast was a book together.

Speaker A

And try to get people interested by covering interesting things about the book, but we're also getting better at.

Speaker A

We're covering things that we want to cover for ourselves, like anything that you want to get better at.

Speaker A

Let's read the book together.

Speaker A

Let's talk about it.

Speaker A

On the show.

Speaker A

Let's sell the book through the Amazon affiliation.

Speaker A

Let's use the book's cachet to hopefully get more hits on the YouTube channel, blah, blah, blah.

Speaker A

Maybe start to do interviews with the actual authors when we get to be good at it.

Speaker B

Well, okay, so there's a lot, a lot there and I've known you for a long time and if I didn't interject, you would just keep going.

Speaker B

You just keep throwing stuff up.

Speaker B

And that's, you know, because you're kind of like, you just, you're a producer, right?

Speaker B

No, it's not going to be in person, not this day and age.

Speaker B

Okay, so just put that out there.

Speaker A

Forget it.

Speaker B

How do we remain control?

Speaker B

Well, any, you know, there are certain formats where there's admins, you know, where we would be the admin.

Speaker B

And then I simultaneously also thought of sort of code of conduct.

Speaker B

Like a good admin will set out the code of conduct or the expectations or the constitution of the group or whatever.

Speaker B

And people read that over and then they join, agreeing to be that.

Speaker B

So that's, you know, that's typical.

Speaker B

I see that on Facebook.

Speaker B

I.

Speaker B

On some of the podcasts I listen to, they mentioned that Facebook's a little considered a little bit older now.

Speaker B

And there's, there's other forums, other mediums, other websites, other networks that are maybe more, you know, contemporary or skew younger or more updated.

Speaker B

But at the same time, certain communities are actually better on Facebook because they're a little less volatile, maybe less toxic, a little more open.

Speaker B

So I don't actually don't know.

Speaker B

I am old school.

Speaker B

So Facebook, you know, I did my space then Facebook and then I stopped.

Speaker B

So I'm not necessarily know anything beyond that.

Speaker B

But I will say I can rule out in person stuff, I think, and fine day as admins to maintain control, monetizing things.

Speaker B

I don't know, maybe that's more sponsors and affiliates.

Speaker B

I don't know about anything beyond that.

Speaker B

Yeah, I do like the idea of using books as a starting point to test the waters for that.

Speaker B

And we already have a book.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

We're going to start with the Miracle Morning.

Speaker B

The miracle Morning.

Speaker B

And then I'd love to consider doing a book on sales since that's what I work in and it's something I want to be better at.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Okay, that's.

Speaker B

Well, that's about 10 things to get through.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Well, yeah, so actually, let me, let me stop you for a second because then let's remember what we always said when we first started to get you some productions.

Speaker A

Podcast.

Speaker A

Yeah, it was like our motto was, what is the bare minimum we can do and still keep it going?

Speaker A

You know, and I think we've achieved some decent success so far just by having this motto of just keep it going and we'll know we're doing something good or doing something.

Speaker A

At least we're doing something.

Speaker A

If we keep it going, we don't have to do anything perfectly at first.

Speaker A

And what's the bare minimum that we think we can actually commit to?

Speaker A

I think reading the books together, even if it's like a chapter a month or something, you know, or whatever it is.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker A

We could probably commit to something like that.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker B

Yeah, I think.

Speaker B

And thank you for bringing it back to some of our founding principles there because.

Speaker B

Absolutely.

Speaker B

The process of just trying this, moving forward with this book, I'm sure we'll learn something in our discussions out of the book from each other, but we'll also learn about the process.

Speaker B

Oh, this is what doing a book is like.

Speaker B

This is how a discussion has been working.

Speaker B

Is this going to work continuing or are we going to want to.

Speaker B

It might open up some doors for.

Speaker B

For our production.

Speaker B

And we learn as we go.

Speaker B

We learn as we go.

Speaker B

So we're actually good.

Speaker B

We both are in possession of this book.

Speaker B

You've read it, I've read it.

Speaker A

You.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

So that's good.

Speaker B

I have not.

Speaker A

I think what I'm going to do is.

Speaker A

So maybe we should just start with the first chapter like we used to do with that other book we did many, many moons ago.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

And just go chapter by chapter.

Speaker A

I thought that it would be interesting.

Speaker A

There are a lot of podcasts about health and a lot of our self, you know, improvement.

Speaker A

I thought that it might be an interesting.

Speaker A

Not sort of take on it, but just like there are a lot of long podcasts, there are probably lots and lots of really short ones too.

Speaker A

So maybe if we had one that's sort of like we.

Speaker A

We don't spend an hour, but maybe we do podcasts where we go chapter by chapter, but we each pick like one of our favorite quote from it and something we're willing to talk about or something like that and just keep it shorter, like max it at 30 minutes, but shoot for like a 20 minute podcast where it's something that somebody can digest in a slight.

Speaker A

It's hopefully inspiring and helpful, but it's something that somebody can digest.

Speaker A

It's not like, you know, like a three minute or even like a 30 second video that's like completely an insult to anyone's attention span.

Speaker A

But it's also not like the hour long typical podcast where people are expected to tune in for way longer than.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker A

You know, so more digestible.

Speaker A

Sort of try to find a space where it's like we're giving the marketplace a little something that's a little different.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker A

If we did interviews then we'd have to.

Speaker A

We can go deeper.

Speaker B

Yeah, that would be interview.

Speaker B

It could be.

Speaker B

That could be a different format.

Speaker B

Because interviews noticed are at least an hour.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And I think that's the beauty of these, these types of long form things is that.

Speaker A

So I don't want to get away from that.

Speaker A

Especially when it's an interview and you're interviewing somebody who really knows the topic right there so they can speak at length about something we are learning.

Speaker A

So we're just trying to bring helpful things to people while we do it and hopefully people will read along with us.

Speaker A

So we've committed to reading the books.

Speaker A

I'm trying to think about how I can maintain the group.

Speaker A

Maybe it's a Facebook group.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

Because you mentioned that.

Speaker A

You said there's other.

Speaker A

There's other.

Speaker A

I actually was like, oh, no, slack is you have to pay for.

Speaker B

That's a good thing.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Everything needs to be an email list.

Speaker A

So we need to have our own list of people who are part of the group.

Speaker A

I think it actually we should.

Speaker A

I think we should try to make the group itself be like a value giver where everybody who's in the group brings value to the group.

Speaker A

And I think it should be, for now, invite only.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker A

Because I think that what I've been pitching to people is that it's more of a network.

Speaker A

It's more of like a mastermind.

Speaker A

Anybody can watch the YouTube video.

Speaker A

Maybe we can invite people and say anybody can come and talk about the book if they want.

Speaker A

So if you don't have time to do a podcast but somebody else in the group says, hey, I want to come talk about this chapter, you know, maybe that's valuable to somebody, you know, to get more buy in.

Speaker A

I don't, I'm actually just, I'm just spitballing at this point.

Speaker A

But I think the Facebook group is going to be.

Speaker A

Is going to be like one place to start.

Speaker A

And I don't know how to maintain an email list.

Speaker A

I guess like I could just do it in a spreadsheet for now.

Speaker B

Name an email that's.

Speaker B

I don't know how to do an Email list either, but I betcha that information's out there.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Like, what's an easy way to start and maintain an email list?

Speaker A

We have the drip.

Speaker B

I'm surprised.

Speaker B

I haven't even ever done this.

Speaker B

I haven't ever done this.

Speaker A

What?

Speaker B

An email list.

Speaker A

How do you maintain.

Speaker A

You can just do one.

Speaker A

I think you can build a Gmail.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

I mean, I would assume it's such a simple thing.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

I've tried making text groups and I've had some trouble adding and deleting.

Speaker A

Well, actually, maybe it's because I haven't made them myself.

Speaker A

I don't know.

Speaker B

I don't know.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker A

So what's this?

Speaker B

Okay, I'm sorry, I'm.

Speaker B

My Gmail.

Speaker B

I'm poking around my.

Speaker B

No, I'm talking about my Gmail.

Speaker B

But I can't do two things at once.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

So let's.

Speaker B

Let's commit to doing our first, like, show.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

Let's just commit to that.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

You said the first chapter.

Speaker B

Yeah, the book.

Speaker B

We'll discuss.

Speaker A

What as it will go chapter by chapter.

Speaker B

Chapter.

Speaker B

But we'll start.

Speaker B

We'll start there and we can always, you know, we're not.

Speaker B

Nothing set in stone.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

We're gonna, like, see how things are flowing and go from there.

Speaker B

But I like your idea of finding a quote or something that pops out some.

Speaker B

Some highlight of.

Speaker B

Of that chapter.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

As we go, we'll see how that works too.

Speaker B

It sounds good to me.

Speaker B

I will commit to doing that.

Speaker B

I.

Speaker B

Yeah, we'll schedule.

Speaker B

Schedule to come.

Speaker B

Obviously.

Speaker B

I always have the same days off, so it shouldn't be hard.

Speaker B

And I have the book already.

Speaker A

Nice.

Speaker A

Okay, so I'll reread chapter one and I'll underline things or I'll put some sticky notes in there.

Speaker A

And then when I'm ready to go, I'll just let you know.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

And then a Facebook group.

Speaker B

I mean, you already have a master of the universe Facebook.

Speaker A

I do, Yes.

Speaker A

I think it's invite only now, so people don't know.

Speaker B

Okay, so we already.

Speaker B

We're kind of ahead of the curve there.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Oh, but the reason, by the way, and I've already said this, but the reason I'm bringing it up now is because people are actually interested.

Speaker A

And so I'm like, oh, shit, if people are actually interested in this, then I think we should just do something, because I've talked to a few people and they're like, hell, yeah, I want to be part of that group.

Speaker A

You know?

Speaker A

So I'm thinking, so here's what I'm going to do.

Speaker A

So we're going to commit to the book, first chapter and here's what I'm going to commit to.

Speaker A

I'm going to come up with a text or an email.

Speaker A

Then you know how I work.

Speaker A

If I say it on the podcast and then when I'm listening back, it reminds me of the things that I have to do.

Speaker A

So I'm going to come up with either a text or an email or both that basically says, here's the group, here's what it's about.

Speaker A

You expressed interest in the group.

Speaker A

For now, I'm maintaining it as an email list.

Speaker A

There's also an invite only Facebook group.

Speaker A

You can, if you're getting a text, you can share your email with me.

Speaker A

If you're getting an email, you can share your cell phone with me.

Speaker A

If you want to receive texts, you can join the Facebook group here.

Speaker A

Right now, the group's invite only.

Speaker A

Anybody who's invited to the group has been invited because they've expressed interest in becoming, in having a mastermind group where everyone is working to become the greatest person they can possibly be and hopefully impacting the world in a positive way.

Speaker A

And that no self development subject is off the table.

Speaker A

On the YouTube channel.

Speaker A

We're going to be covering books that people are, that we think are interesting.

Speaker A

We're going to be talking about them.

Speaker A

You can read along with us.

Speaker A

So just subscribe and then you'll get a notification and when we're reading, you can read along with us if you want to come on the show may not even say that, but for now you can read along with us.

Speaker A

You can see our development journey.

Speaker A

You can take the journey with us and then we can discuss in the group or we can discuss.

Speaker A

We have each other's emails or phones.

Speaker A

We can discuss in person or whatever.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker B

And having the Facebook group means that there's dming, you know, potentially like if someone says something and then you can, either one of us can be like, hey, yeah, sure, DM me.

Speaker B

We can DM and be like, well actually this person, hey, you want to be on the podcast sometime?

Speaker B

You know, you might just realize, oh, this person is like right to say right now and, or connection to an organization or something that they promote, you know, anything.

Speaker B

Because I realize you're right.

Speaker B

It's, it's.

Speaker B

There's a lot of potential and a lot of it's going to go off what the community brings to the table.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker B

We'll be leading it and setting the philosophy and the tone and the Admin.

Speaker B

But if we do it right, it should get a life of its own going from participants and members.

Speaker A

Have a life of its own.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

So I think.

Speaker A

And so maybe not for today, but at some point, we have to come up with a really solid, like, modus operandi or whatever.

Speaker A

Like you had said, like a constitution.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

Or like a mission statement.

Speaker B

Mission statement.

Speaker A

So that it's really clear to people that when they join the group, there's no fucking around.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

We're all here to help each other.

Speaker A

And it's only positive vibes and, you know.

Speaker A

And that's it.

Speaker B

I love it.

Speaker A

Cool.

Speaker B

I love it.

Speaker B

And I.

Speaker B

The more I think about it, the more I can see, like, yeah, people want a space like that.

Speaker B

There's so much toxicity and so much.

Speaker B

So many different things pulling you in different directions.

Speaker B

Just, well, I have a place.

Speaker B

I'll go here in this place.

Speaker B

This whole community is going to be a.

Speaker B

It's a safe place to be.

Speaker A

A place to be.

Speaker B

It's safe place to be.

Speaker B

And, you know, I'm thinking of.

Speaker A

Yeah, I was thinking even of going crazy.

Speaker A

Like, I think a friend of mine.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

Who is.

Speaker A

Who is a.

Speaker A

I think.

Speaker A

Well, I know she's a traditional practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

I think she's a Trump supporter.

Speaker A

I felt like we should interview her just to show that we can all.

Speaker A

Like, we should take the first step and say.

Speaker A

Okay, there's no.

Speaker A

Like, you can have your argument on the main Facebook page all day long.

Speaker B

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

You can have your argument on the line at the fucking grocery store or while you're pulled up at a flight or when you cut somebody off in the street.

Speaker A

You can have your argument anywhere.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

Do not bring that here.

Speaker A

This is the safe space.

Speaker A

You know, how do you even maintain something that's a scary thing to even say that you're maintaining?

Speaker A

Because there's some things you cannot tolerate.

Speaker B

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker B

So that's.

Speaker A

But we have to do it to the best of our ability.

Speaker B

We do.

Speaker A

Within reason.

Speaker B

Within reason.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

But that's how crazy I'm thinking this should be.

Speaker A

This should be like the safest.

Speaker A

Well, not the safest place, but it should just be a place where we leave.

Speaker A

If.

Speaker A

If people want to make the world a better place or.

Speaker A

And they want to get better.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

And they want to make a positive impact in the world, in their community, or even one to one, if they want to.

Speaker A

If you want to make a positive impact in your relationship with another person, whether it's a friend or your Lover or whatever the case may be, or if it's your kids.

Speaker B

Yep.

Speaker A

All those relationships ripple out as far as I'm concerned.

Speaker B

Well, you know, yeah, that's gonna take.

Speaker B

It's gonna take some doing because we.

Speaker B

We are in a divided society right now.

Speaker B

But, you know, I think there is a universe.

Speaker B

There's so much universal shared experience, regardless of who.

Speaker B

Who or what needs to be deprogrammed from who or what for this or that, you know?

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

Because.

Speaker B

Yeah, there's so much.

Speaker B

For instance, good example.

Speaker B

My close friend at work, Christina, is also a big time make America Great.

Speaker B

She says stuff that I just find offensive and couldn't disagree more.

Speaker B

But we're still good friends.

Speaker B

When one of us is sick or the other one's sick, we call, check up on each other, we talk about parenting, we share recipes, we share advice on how to improve our performance at work in sales.

Speaker B

You know, like, we have so much in common.

Speaker B

That's what a society is really about is the shared common ground.

Speaker B

You know, like, you get on a bus or a subway, doesn't matter.

Speaker B

It doesn't matter what the driver or conductor, which way they lean in the ballot box or blah, blah, blah.

Speaker B

That's not what they are there for.

Speaker B

And to make your.

Speaker B

To function, you know, So I think people.

Speaker B

I don't want to project too much, but if, you know, I know I have a lot in common with people.

Speaker B

I probably disagree with them vehemently about some things, but that doesn't mean Miracle morning.

Speaker B

I think, for instance, it could be a pretty neutral thing.

Speaker B

Just talk about, like, all this.

Speaker A

Yeah, a lot of that stuff is.

Speaker B

Neutral, you know, and like, I would love to have a place where they could go and then not worry about having to walk on eggshells or whatever, you know?

Speaker A

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A

You.

Speaker A

What you.

Speaker A

What you were saying inspired me to just think of the term that.

Speaker A

I think what it is is that.

Speaker A

Yeah, there's lots of ways.

Speaker A

So your.

Speaker A

Your relationship with this other person.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

Is sort of like a good example of how.

Speaker A

There's lots of things that I disagree with in this world, but we.

Speaker A

But arguing about it.

Speaker A

I don't think that ever gets anywhere, anyone, anywhere.

Speaker A

So I think leading by example would be the most powerful thing we can do.

Speaker A

So, I mean, I don't even.

Speaker A

We're talking about politics now for some reason.

Speaker A

I don't think we should even probably get into politics generally, but it was just like an example of how people are very divisive.

Speaker A

But if we lead by example, by.

Speaker A

We're Just focused.

Speaker A

We have to be singularly focused.

Speaker A

How do we become the best people we can possibly be?

Speaker A

And we need to lead by example, by being good.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

Because I feel like in the political venue has been a really good example of this constant choosing between a lesser of two evils.

Speaker A

What if we didn't have to make that choice?

Speaker A

What if it was me and you and we made a decision that not only are we going to become the most powerful, competent leaders in our jobs, families, communities, but we also made a commitment to be as good as possible while doing it.

Speaker A

And then somebody else, if they're asked to choose, they're going to say, we're going to choose Dan and Keith.

Speaker A

Because they fucking already showed us that we didn't need to choose.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

We didn't need to choose these guys.

Speaker A

Like, you know, and that's the important thing about making ourselves better.

Speaker A

It's not just about being loving to everyone and being nice to people.

Speaker A

It's also about handling your shit, being extremely competent and becoming like, we need to be rock stars in life.

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

You know, and I think that's something.

Speaker A

That totally down with.

Speaker B

Will really identify with is wanting to feel competent.

Speaker B

You know, I mean, who.

Speaker B

Who's gonna argue against that?

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

Yells book too.

Speaker A

Because that's, you know, I need to learn that too.

Speaker A

So we just have to figure out a.

Speaker A

It just told me my Internet connection was unstable.

Speaker A

So let's.

Speaker A

Let's wrap this up anyway.

Speaker B

Wrap it up, Wrap it up.

Speaker B

Oh, by the way, I'm watching the Squid game right now.

Speaker B

There you go.

Speaker B

I watched the Squid game.

Speaker B

Have you seen the Squid game?

Speaker A

I've heard about it.

Speaker A

I heard it was like, kind of like a freaky and crazy.

Speaker A

And it's like.

Speaker B

Korean.

Speaker B

Yeah, just, you know, Korean language.

Speaker B

So you can do subtitles or, you know, overdub.

Speaker B

We'd listen to the dub version and it is.

Speaker B

It's actually so.

Speaker B

It's freaky and it's got like that surface.

Speaker B

It's, you know, layers, cool visuals, kind of like this and that.

Speaker B

But when you look deeper, there's like a deeper message going on.

Speaker B

Highly recommended, Keith.

Speaker A

What's the message?

Speaker B

It's extremely violent, though.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

Do you know?

Speaker B

Just, you know, it's extremely violent.

Speaker A

But there was before.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they play a game, but it's like a death.

Speaker A

The stakes are extremely high.

Speaker A

It's like death or, you know, it gets that bad.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

The.

Speaker A

Before there was the Hunger Games, there was actually a foreign movie that I watched a long time ago called Battle Royale.

Speaker A

It was Asian.

Speaker B

I don't know what I've heard of it.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And so it was basically like hunger.

Speaker A

It was exactly.

Speaker A

Hunger Games.

Speaker B

It's an old concept, but that's.

Speaker A

It's basically the same thing.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

Is that kind of the situation or is it.

Speaker A

I mean, the Hunger Games was about culling, if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker A

I think the Battle Royale was kind of the same sort of concept.

Speaker A

It was like.

Speaker A

It may.

Speaker A

I'm guessing maybe it was like post revolution or like still revolution China.

Speaker A

And maybe there was like too many people and kids who did poorly in school got sent.

Speaker A

So it was actually kids too.

Speaker A

I guess it was the same Hunger Games with kids as well.

Speaker B

The one.

Speaker B

One child policy.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

That's why I'm thinking of it.

Speaker A

I don't want to quote.

Speaker A

I mean, it's.

Speaker B

No, I don't think it's very.

Speaker B

A little different.

Speaker B

Okay.

Speaker B

So Squid Game is going to be a commentary on human nature.

Speaker A

Yep.

Speaker B

How money.

Speaker B

A society based on financial exchange.

Speaker A

Oh.

Speaker B

What kind of positions it puts people in.

Speaker B

Because you can be a good person with bad habits.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

Or, you know, or you can be a bad person with good habits.

Speaker B

Like vis a vis how vis a vis accumulation of wealth and financial independence.

Speaker B

Just because someone is successful does not mean they're a good or bad person.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker B

Just because someone is unsuccessful does not mean they are a good or bad person.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker B

And so.

Speaker B

And everything, it's a spectrum.

Speaker B

Right, People.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

The middle.

Speaker B

Like, oh, which way are they gonna go?

Speaker B

You know, like, when pushed to the limit, are they gonna just look for themselves or look out for others?

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker B

You can't tell until it comes.

Speaker B

You have to drill down really deep.

Speaker B

So that's kind of what I'm taking.

Speaker B

Took out of it.

Speaker B

So I thought you might find it interesting.

Speaker A

It's funny that you're bringing this up on this show, on this episode, because this is if in some small way, in our tiny little microcosm, we're almost like we're making a stand to preempt the Squid Game of the future.

Speaker A

Like, that's how I'm looking at it.

Speaker A

We're getting like.

Speaker A

It's like, how can we make.

Speaker A

How can we get to a point where we don't have to make that decision, you know?

Speaker B

Yes.

Speaker A

How can we set up a system?

Speaker A

Even if it's our little system, even if it's just our friend group, even if it's just this little community, even if it's just this little Facebook community that in this little Facebook community, we're not making that decision.

Speaker A

We're not forcing anyone to make that decision.

Speaker A

You know, I know it's, like, very grandiose to say that, because we're not solving the world's problems here, but I do think that it's like we are sitting here doing this, but what if every fifth person was sitting here doing this?

Speaker B

Exactly.

Speaker A

You know why you do it.

Speaker B

Yep.

Speaker A

That's why you do it.

Speaker B

So I'm gonna read the book.

Speaker B

You watch the squid game.

Speaker B

You watch the squid game.

Speaker A

Cautionary Tale.

Speaker B

So, yeah, we'll bring it up again once you know what red light, green light means.

Speaker A

Fine.

Speaker B

That's your secret word.

Speaker B

Secret passage.

Speaker B

Secret.

Speaker A

I know.

Speaker A

Yellow light means I need to pause to go pee.

Speaker B

Red light, green light, red light, green light.

Speaker B

Once you know, that's the password.

Speaker B

All right.

Speaker B

Okay, bye.

Speaker A

Later, dude.
