Oftentimes you'll see people that have physical manifestations of them repenting. They are taking all of their sins and physically putting them at the altar and they are turning people away and saying out loud, I rebuke this and I'm repenting from this. But in the next day, in the next moment, they go right back.

to their sinful ways. This verse says, don't tear off your clothes in grief. Don't show me a physical act that you are doing, but turn your hearts. Make sure your heart is repentant.

Our heart, the condition of our heart is the most important thing that we can do.

that we can, no. Having a repented heart is so important. God cares about our hearts. He doesn't care about what we say or do on the outside, but if we repent with our hearts and confess, Lord, I have sinned against you and I ask you to take this burden from me, I ask that.

He doesn't punish us. So when you sin or when you do something that you're not pleased with yourself and you're like, God is gonna punish me. He doesn't like what I did. We don't have a God that punishes us. He is very slow to anger. He doesn't get angry when we are doing things that maybe he's not pleased with because he's filled with this

everlasting love.

So how do we apply this verse to our daily walk with God?

Focus on the condition of your heart. Focus on how you operate, how you treat people, what you do. Focus on truly repenting internally.

See if they are slow to anger, how much love they are filled with, and if they want to punish you for the things that you may have done, that person is not Christ -like. That person is not someone that you need to keep close in your fold of friends or loved ones or even family members.

Because our God doesn't punish us. So why should people punish us? Our God is slow to anchor. So why should people be quick to anchor? Our God is filled with unfailing love. So why should we not have people that are filled with unfailing love around us?
