You are listening to episode number 126 of wife teacher
Speaker:mommy, the podcast. Goodbye to wife
Speaker:teacher mommy. Yes. You heard me right. I'm going to be telling you
Speaker:all about it right now.
Speaker:Welcome to Wife, Teacher, Mommy, the podcast. I'm Kelsey Sorensen, a
Speaker:former elementary teacher and current homeschool mom. And even though I've been a
Speaker:resource creator since 2014, I've realized that printables alone
Speaker:aren't all you need in order to thrive as a teacher or homeschool parent. That's
Speaker:why I also created this show and got certified as a life
Speaker:coach to help you finally kick burnout to the curb and feel confident with whatever
Speaker:challenges come your way. With the right mindset strategies and new teaching
Speaker:inspiration, you're going to be well on your way to your best teacher
Speaker:life. Now let's go.
Speaker:Alright. Hello, and welcome to today's finale
Speaker:episode of Wife Teacher Mommy the podcast.
Speaker:This has been such an incredible journey doing this podcast with you
Speaker:since March of 2021, when I started this podcast.
Speaker:I have just loved this journey over the last over 2 years now. We've
Speaker:had thousands of unique listeners. We have had over
Speaker:70,000 downloads, and I have loved connecting
Speaker:with all of you. And being here on the podcast, like I've said so many
Speaker:times, it's one of my favorite parts about what I do. So you
Speaker:might be wondering, why is it goodbye? Why are you stopping the podcast?
Speaker:And, here's the thing, I'm not stopping the podcast, actually. I'm
Speaker:not. I love it so much, and I love being here with all of you.
Speaker:I love popping into your feed each week, and I love even more connecting with
Speaker:you when I get to hear your responses to everything in the Facebook group, or
Speaker:on our coaching calls. It is one of my favorite things. But, what
Speaker:is happening is the evolution. It's the end of one era and
Speaker:the start of another. So, let's talk about it a little bit. For
Speaker:this podcast, and it's not actually just the podcast either, but for this podcast, when
Speaker:I started it in 2021, I was not yet certified as a life coach.
Speaker:We were talking mainly about different teaching ideas, how to utilize
Speaker:resources, what to do, how to teach this, how to teach that, or
Speaker:whatever. Went through a lot of those. And slowly, you probably
Speaker:noticed over time this feed evolving from, like, teaching tips and
Speaker:strategies. And now I do share things like that every once in a while. Like,
Speaker:a couple weeks ago, I shared about, what to do instead of taking away
Speaker:recess. So there's still practical education tips as well, and I bring on
Speaker:lots of different experts. But what I've really honed in on these last few
Speaker:years is, for 1, as you know, if you've been listening, I've
Speaker:certified as a life coach. I've written a book called Educate and Rejuvenate that
Speaker:is all about how to revitalize your teaching, renew your spirit, and reignite your
Speaker:passion for life. And so really what my goal
Speaker:here is now is not just to help you with some resources. We
Speaker:still do that. That's not going away. I still wanna help you with
Speaker:resources. But what makes us unique is that we are also
Speaker:here to help you as a whole person. Because as an
Speaker:educator, so many of us, we have big hearts. We wanna help everybody else around
Speaker:us, and that's wonderful. That's why we went into teaching. We wanna help people. We
Speaker:wanna help our students. We wanna help our own children. We want to help
Speaker:our partners and all the incredible people in our lives.
Speaker:But a lot of times we do things for others at the
Speaker:expense of ourselves. We educate, but we don't rejuvenate. Right? We don't
Speaker:take care of ourselves. And it is so important that we do that,
Speaker:that we take care of ourselves, that we love ourselves, that we have self compassion
Speaker:that they talked about in the self love challenge. If you missed that, please go
Speaker:back and listen to it from back in February, by the way.
Speaker:Lots of the core concepts that I teach over there. But what I really want
Speaker:you to know is that this podcast has changed over time, and I have changed
Speaker:over these last 2 years. I've started that as a coach. I've really dove
Speaker:in into psychology, both of my certification. Dove in, that's not a word.
Speaker:But you know what I mean? I really went into psychology. I read every single
Speaker:self help book I could get my hands on about a book a week over
Speaker:the last year. And I wrote my own book, and really
Speaker:writing the book was almost I've told my team and other people, I almost learned
Speaker:even more from that than doing my own certification because did do a lot of
Speaker:research. I had to cite every source, and I really had to dig deep
Speaker:within myself to write this book so I could support you
Speaker:in the best way. Because what I am here to do is to help you
Speaker:have an inner transformation that starts from within. That
Speaker:you can understand yourself and what you need
Speaker:even better. So you can let your light shine
Speaker:to the world, to your students, to your children, wherever it is for
Speaker:you. However you teach, whatever kind of educator. I'm here to help elementary
Speaker:teachers, home school parents, principals, paraprofessionals,
Speaker:school counselors, professors, whatever you teach.
Speaker:No matter what, these same principles will apply to you. So
Speaker:that is really the reason we are ending this era of wife teacher mommy.
Speaker:And another one is because, when I
Speaker:named it wife teacher mommy Okay. Let's just rewind a little bit because
Speaker:again, this isn't only the end of wife teacher mommy the podcast.
Speaker:This is the end of wife teacher mommy as we know
Speaker:it. So when I created wife teacher mommy, it was 10 years
Speaker:ago. I thought I was just taking a short break from teaching
Speaker:while I had my baby, and I substitute taught. And I was hoping
Speaker:that between a substitute teaching and guitar
Speaker:lessons and starting a little TPT store. That between those
Speaker:three things, I could help cover our mortgage, which is laughable now
Speaker:because it was $775 for our mortgage. There's no way
Speaker:you could get that on that house now, but that was where we were at
Speaker:at the time. Man, 2012 until now, pretty crazy when we got that
Speaker:house. But beside the point, this is not a real estate podcast.
Speaker:But really, I just started the TPT on a whim. I
Speaker:started my TPT store. And that's how it all started with teachers pay teachers, with
Speaker:just me subbing and being like, I'm gonna make some sub plans that I can
Speaker:take with me when I sub in case there's not enough, and then I can
Speaker:also put them online so other teachers can benefit from them as well. And they
Speaker:didn't think much of it. Like I shared in a recent side hustle call in
Speaker:the club, like, I made $0 my 1st month, and then the next month I
Speaker:made, like, $40, and the next month I made, like, 30. And I took that
Speaker:whole everything I made and put it to do the TPT premium so I could
Speaker:upgrade that and really go all in with it. But the reason I called it
Speaker:wife, teacher, mommy is because I was like, oh, I'm a wife, then
Speaker:it was a teacher, and then it was a mommy. Again, I had a 7
Speaker:month old. I was so excited I'd just become a mom, so I called it
Speaker:wife, teacher, mommy. And and it was fine because
Speaker:it was about me. Right? A lot of people use just their own name for
Speaker:teachers, pay teachers. Or they use like the state they're from. Or they, you know,
Speaker:describe something about themselves like caffeine or they love coffee or whatever. And it's not
Speaker:like meaning that everybody who buys from them needs to be that. Right? But since
Speaker:we've expanded, we have our membership, like wife teacher mommy club. It's kind of
Speaker:like putting that name on everyone. And the podcast, wife teacher
Speaker:mommy the podcast. A lot of people are thinking they need to be a wife,
Speaker:they need to be a mommy in order to benefit from this podcast. What about
Speaker:all the guys out there? What about the single moms? If I have people,
Speaker:like, comment, oh, I'm a single mom so this isn't for me, and it is
Speaker:for you. It absolutely is. Or you have no children or you're not
Speaker:partnered with anyone. It doesn't matter. All that matters is
Speaker:that you are an educator of some type, and you want to up level
Speaker:your life. And so we wanted to have a new name that makes it
Speaker:more clear for everybody, more inclusive for everybody that no matter
Speaker:who you are, whether you like, again, those other factors don't necessarily
Speaker:matter. If you are educating, whether it's at your kitchen table, homeschooling your kids,
Speaker:whether it is in a traditional classroom, or online, or adults at
Speaker:college, whoever you are teaching. These
Speaker:principles will still apply to you to help you to live your
Speaker:best life. So the new name that we're going to have and really the full
Speaker:evolution of the company that is going to reflect this, and lots
Speaker:of big things coming like the book. We have an app coming. We
Speaker:have so many exciting things. It is all going to
Speaker:be coming under this new name that we are going to announce next week,
Speaker:and the podcast will be changing accordingly. So
Speaker:in 1 week you will get to find out. Now, if you're listening live it'll
Speaker:be a 1 week, if you're not you might be like, oh, I already know
Speaker:what it is. But I will be announcing it live
Speaker:on May 13th on a free master class that I am teaching, and there'll be
Speaker:lots of giveaways. It's gonna be a really fun time. So I would love
Speaker:you to come join me live. The link will be in the show notes to
Speaker:this episode, so you can sign up for that master class. I'll be teaching
Speaker:my full 3 step coaching framework that I've been
Speaker:teaching to our members, and they've been having a lot of success with it. And
Speaker:then I'm also going over in my book really in-depth. In my book, it'll be
Speaker:more in-depth than I've ever taught anywhere. But you don't have to wait for
Speaker:that book. You can come to the master class next week. And if you miss
Speaker:it, we will be putting the master class on the podcast, once I've done it
Speaker:as well. And if you're still listening, I just want to thank you for being
Speaker:here along this journey with me. And again, this isn't an end. This
Speaker:is the start of something new. Okay. And now I wanna sing that High School
Speaker:Musical song. Hello fellow millennials. But I am just
Speaker:so grateful for all of you who've been along the way. Everyone I met, some
Speaker:of you have been here since the very beginning, since episode 1, and you were
Speaker:so excited to listen. Others of you joined us somewhere along the way or
Speaker:maybe you even hit play on this episode for the first time. No matter what,
Speaker:I'm just so grateful for you for being a part of this
Speaker:journey. There have been so there have been tears and heartache behind the
Speaker:scenes with struggles and stressors and also a lot of love
Speaker:and excitement and all the different things going on. And I share about more of
Speaker:this in my book, but we'll just say building a company isn't the easiest thing,
Speaker:but it is so worth it because of all the educators, all the
Speaker:incredible people that I've been able to connect with along the way in our team.
Speaker:And I'm holding space for all of this gratitude and
Speaker:love that we've built together while walking into a future of what
Speaker:this work will be as it continues to evolve. As my favorite
Speaker:artist, Taylor Swift, would say, it is not the end of an era, but
Speaker:the start of an age. We are just getting started with the
Speaker:work we will do together here in this space. I am not going
Speaker:anywhere. But what you are witnessing right here, right now with the shift of the
Speaker:work I'm doing here with you in the in this company here is the
Speaker:same thing we all experience in our lives day to day.
Speaker:One of the big things I talk about in my upcoming book, educate and rejuvenate
Speaker:is us getting really clear on what we really want.
Speaker:So many of us, we don't actually know. In my book, I
Speaker:even joke about this in the notebook. You know that scene with Rachel McAdams' character
Speaker:and Ryan Gosling's character where he's like, what do you want?
Speaker:And she's just like, it's not that simple. What do you
Speaker:want? I I don't know. And she just doesn't know. Right? And
Speaker:that's really what it is a lot of times in our lives too. We're
Speaker:so busy going about our day to day lives. The most common answer I see
Speaker:on a coaching call a lot of what we do on coaching calls as coaches
Speaker:is we ask you questions to try to help you see what's going on
Speaker:inside your mind. And one of the really common answers is I don't
Speaker:know. And it's totally okay to have that answer. There's I'm not
Speaker:here to shame you about that. But what I believe is that you do know
Speaker:it is within you, but it might be buried deep inside, and it might take
Speaker:some time to figure out what it is that you truly want and some conscious
Speaker:effort, and that's what I'm here to help you do on the podcast. So here's
Speaker:something you could think about. Just I wanna make sure this episode was actually useful
Speaker:for you today. As what I've been doing while I've been creating this shift in
Speaker:my company is really focusing on what do I want and not only what do
Speaker:I want, but what do I want to help people with? How do
Speaker:I want to serve? How do I want to show up for everybody who's
Speaker:here at this podcast or listening to a coaching replay
Speaker:or coming to our educate and rejuvenate event. What do I want to be able
Speaker:to give to them? So I want you to do that same thing. I want
Speaker:you to think what is it you want to create in your life? Do you
Speaker:want more joy in your teaching? Do you want more abundance? Do you want more
Speaker:peace? Less anxiety and burnout? Or are you yearning
Speaker:for like a more creative outlet or just time to sit and read?
Speaker:What is it that will renew your spirit or reignite that passion for teaching
Speaker:and life that was once lit but might be a little bit burned out right
Speaker:now? Especially, as we're at the end of the school year. Right? We know the
Speaker:end of your fatigue can definitely start coming in a little bit
Speaker:more. And that's when we just need to figure out what that is, which
Speaker:don't worry, I'll continue to support here right here on this podcast
Speaker:feed. And you can just continue to think on it. Just having a question
Speaker:in your mind, continuing to ponder on it and journal on it a little bit,
Speaker:even if you just write a little bit, your brain will continue to work on
Speaker:that question and continue to try to be like, oh, what is it? Because our
Speaker:brain, like I mentioned on the vision board episode, if you haven't listened to
Speaker:that go back on the feed and listen to the vision board episode. But,
Speaker:our selective attention or our reticular activating system, it
Speaker:really tries to focus on what we're focused on. Right? That's
Speaker:why like if we're shopping for cars we notice that car more often. So if
Speaker:you ask yourself a question, your brain will really try to get to that answer.
Speaker:So that's when we just need to figure out what it is. And
Speaker:I'll continue to support you on the feed and support you through
Speaker:all of it. Again, I'm not here to ask you any questions or do anything
Speaker:I'm not willing to do. So that's why I can speak so much to this.
Speaker:I've been going through that process and still working on it in my
Speaker:personal and professional life. And, honestly, the entire process
Speaker:of writing a book has led to this shift in our brand, in our
Speaker:messaging, in my coaching that you'll continue to see starting
Speaker:next week. I'm so excited about what's to come. 10
Speaker:years in and we're just getting started.
Speaker:And I feel like a beginner all over again and I love it. And so
Speaker:you can feel like a beginner again too wherever you're at. I'm learning so much
Speaker:and I can't wait to continue our professional development
Speaker:meets personal development journey together. And I can't wait to see
Speaker:where we go together over the next year, 3, 5, 10 years.
Speaker:So next week is that big reveal of what's coming for those who are listening
Speaker:before then. I'll be teaching a masterclass all about my 3 step
Speaker:coaching framework. So far, the only people who've been able to learn about the framework
Speaker:this in-depth are our club members. So I'm sharing it publicly for the first
Speaker:time. It's the framework my book is based on, like I mentioned, but you don't
Speaker:have to wait for the book to come out. You can come learn a bit
Speaker:about it on this masterclass. We'll be doing some big giveaways on the call,
Speaker:and I also have that big announcement to share up with all of you.
Speaker:Again, thank you so much for listening to this final episode of
Speaker:wife teacher mommy, the podcast, But I will be back in the speed next week
Speaker:though with something new. So stay tuned, and make sure you
Speaker:are subscribed so you don't miss the big announcement. We'll talk
Speaker:then.

Speaker:episode. And if you are ready to take the next step, I would love
