Welcome to the Pick
Speaker:Revival podcast.
Speaker:My name is Vesna.
Speaker:Today I'm going to talk
Speaker:about, are you programming
Speaker:yourself to be stressed,
Speaker:unhappy, or sick?
Speaker:Now, how many subliminal
Speaker:messages are entering your
Speaker:mind, or not even subliminal,
Speaker:how many messages are
Speaker:entering your mind that
Speaker:are weighing you down,
Speaker:causing stress in the back
Speaker:of your mind, even dread,
Speaker:even doom and gloom, and you
Speaker:may not even be aware of it.
Speaker:So I to talk about
Speaker:some of these things
Speaker:innocently have in our
Speaker:life that do cause stress.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:Number one is
Speaker:watching the news.
Speaker:It's, whenever you
Speaker:turn on the news there is
Speaker:nothing that is positive.
Speaker:Very rarely, there may
Speaker:be very, at the end, one.
Speaker:Very small segment of
Speaker:something positive, but all
Speaker:in all it is pretty much
Speaker:doom, gloom, politics, war,
Speaker:interest rates, inflation,
Speaker:cost of living, everything
Speaker:that creates more stress
Speaker:and has our mind think
Speaker:about those things more
Speaker:and makes us scared.
Speaker:I had this recent experience
Speaker:where About six months ago,
Speaker:I was following someone
Speaker:on Instagram and they were
Speaker:reporting the news, right?
Speaker:They were reporting
Speaker:things that were
Speaker:happening in the area.
Speaker:I'd stopped following
Speaker:this person because.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:It was terrifying me
Speaker:seeing the things that
Speaker:were happening around not
Speaker:so much my neighborhood
Speaker:but not so far from me.
Speaker:and somehow she's popped
Speaker:up in my feed again.
Speaker:And it's not to say
Speaker:that this person is
Speaker:doing anything wrong.
Speaker:She is reporting the news.
Speaker:But the impact that it had
Speaker:on me, I saw one video of
Speaker:people getting, broken into.
Speaker:And It was on my
Speaker:mind for five days.
Speaker:I was scared when I
Speaker:went to bed at night.
Speaker:I was worried if I woke up in
Speaker:the middle of the night, if I
Speaker:was going to find someone in
Speaker:my house, like really crazy.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And so that video really
Speaker:left an imprint on me.
Speaker:And when you think about it.
Speaker:Maybe you're not seeing
Speaker:stuff as dramatic as that,
Speaker:but you might be seeing a
Speaker:lot of things on the news.
Speaker:You might wake up in the
Speaker:morning, turn the news on or
Speaker:get it on your device, right?
Speaker:Whether it be through
Speaker:any of the social media
Speaker:channels, you may be
Speaker:getting the news that way.
Speaker:And it's just giving you
Speaker:a dose of stress hormones
Speaker:it's not giving you a sense
Speaker:of peace or a sense of
Speaker:comfort or a sense of joy.
Speaker:It is just delivering
Speaker:stress and anxiety.
Speaker:And if you check that first
Speaker:thing in the morning, you
Speaker:are going to start your day
Speaker:feeling stressed and anxious.
Speaker:And even if it's not doom
Speaker:and gloom, maybe it's the
Speaker:political situation, maybe
Speaker:it's the economies or
Speaker:things that, instigate or
Speaker:initiate a lot of strong
Speaker:emotions for you that cause
Speaker:a lot of frustrations.
Speaker:Like, it's not a way
Speaker:to start the day.
Speaker:It's not a way to end the day.
Speaker:And unless you're going
Speaker:to have an impact on those
Speaker:scenarios, and very rarely do
Speaker:we have an impact on politics,
Speaker:unless you can have an impact
Speaker:there, a lot of that stuff
Speaker:is filling up your mind and
Speaker:causing a lot of stress and
Speaker:frustration and anxiety.
Speaker:And it's not just the news.
Speaker:There is other ways that
Speaker:we are being programmed.
Speaker:I had a client say to me
Speaker:the other day, I'm in my
Speaker:40s and so therefore it's
Speaker:either frozen shoulder or I'm
Speaker:going to have painful hips.
Speaker:And I was like, what
Speaker:are you talking about?
Speaker:She's like, yeah,
Speaker:because that's what you
Speaker:have in perimenopause.
Speaker:Like that's,
Speaker:everyone has that.
Speaker:I'm like, everyone really?
Speaker:And it was really interesting
Speaker:to me because again, there are
Speaker:a lot of people sharing their
Speaker:stories and perimenopause
Speaker:seems to have exploded online,
Speaker:but there are a lot of people
Speaker:sharing their stories and
Speaker:their symptoms, which you
Speaker:don't realize that innocently.
Speaker:Programming you.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:And programming you to expect
Speaker:those certain outcomes.
Speaker:And let me reassure you,
Speaker:let me assure you that
Speaker:these messages do have an
Speaker:impact on your physiology.
Speaker:And I'm going to explain more.
Speaker:and the third one I
Speaker:want to talk about is,
Speaker:are you programming yourself
Speaker:to be dissatisfied?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:You just have to
Speaker:jump on social media.
Speaker:Everyone shows their best
Speaker:stuff, you know, happy family,
Speaker:great business, great content,
Speaker:great travel experience, great
Speaker:children, whatever it is.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And you may jump on social
Speaker:media and feel inadequate
Speaker:or dissatisfied with your
Speaker:life because that stuff is
Speaker:all throughout the feed.
Speaker:there was a psychologist
Speaker:many years ago, Alfred Alder,
Speaker:and he had the Alderian
Speaker:psychology and he said that
Speaker:most human suffering comes
Speaker:from feeling inferior and
Speaker:striving to feel superior.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:And a lot of that comes down
Speaker:to comparison to others.
Speaker:So you think about it, the
Speaker:social media channels like
Speaker:Instagram or Facebook,
Speaker:particularly Instagram is
Speaker:really going to trigger that
Speaker:sense of comparison and quite
Speaker:potentially make you feel
Speaker:dissatisfied with your life.
Speaker:And Alfred Aldo said that
Speaker:our contentment and our
Speaker:fulfillment comes from
Speaker:personal development and
Speaker:contributing to society rather
Speaker:than competing with others.
Speaker:So the reason why I bring
Speaker:all of this up and why do
Speaker:I say are you programming
Speaker:yourself with these things
Speaker:is because our mind is
Speaker:such a powerful tool when
Speaker:used in the right way.
Speaker:So our mind has the ability
Speaker:to to solve our problems,
Speaker:overcome our challenges
Speaker:and find solutions.
Speaker:That's for the real stuff.
Speaker:But if we're filling our mind
Speaker:with problems that are not
Speaker:really for us to solve the
Speaker:news, the dissatisfaction
Speaker:with our life symptoms
Speaker:that other people are going
Speaker:through, but particularly
Speaker:all that doom, gloom and
Speaker:dread that is on the news and
Speaker:TV and often social media.
Speaker:If we're filling mind with
Speaker:that stuff, with that, I
Speaker:guess, garbage thoughts.
Speaker:Our mind is going to work
Speaker:to solve those problems.
Speaker:So you may find that those
Speaker:types of messages create
Speaker:an underlining stress and
Speaker:anxiety, which our mind
Speaker:will try to resolve for us.
Speaker:But they're not really
Speaker:problems in our everyday life.
Speaker:They're not a problem
Speaker:that we have today that
Speaker:we need to resolve.
Speaker:And so rather than wasting
Speaker:our ability to solve problems
Speaker:on the news economy political
Speaker:landscape and whatever it
Speaker:is, we would rather save
Speaker:our energy and our mental
Speaker:space and our nervous
Speaker:system for the things in
Speaker:our life that we can change,
Speaker:that we can overcome,
Speaker:that we can recreate
Speaker:and make better.
Speaker:And the other thing is is that
Speaker:a lot of that messaging, if
Speaker:you're getting it every single
Speaker:day, and this might, you might
Speaker:find that you might have to
Speaker:unfollow people on social
Speaker:media and avoid the news,
Speaker:which I highly recommend,
Speaker:Because that becomes your
Speaker:sense of truth, right?
Speaker:That becomes your
Speaker:sense of reality.
Speaker:That we live in this world
Speaker:that is really dangerous,
Speaker:that is really scary, that
Speaker:is all doom and gloom.
Speaker:While there are those things
Speaker:that are 100 percent in our
Speaker:world, there is so much good
Speaker:in the world, and there's
Speaker:so much good things and good
Speaker:stuff happening, that if we're
Speaker:not seeing that on a day to
Speaker:day basis, we're going to have
Speaker:this more negative mindset.
Speaker:So going back to my client who
Speaker:said that, you know, in your
Speaker:forties, it's either frozen
Speaker:shoulder or it's sore hips.
Speaker:It's kind of like seeing
Speaker:someone's messaging on
Speaker:Instagram or social media
Speaker:about their symptoms.
Speaker:And like I said, this
Speaker:is kind of, when I talk
Speaker:about perimenopause, that
Speaker:kind of feels like it's
Speaker:exploded online, but that's
Speaker:no different to looking
Speaker:up Dr. Google, right?
Speaker:And then feeling scared
Speaker:of your symptoms.
Speaker:And your mind can send
Speaker:messages to your body
Speaker:that make That a reality.
Speaker:And if you don't believe
Speaker:that's true, you just
Speaker:have to look at the
Speaker:placebo and nocebo effect.
Speaker:Placebo is.
Speaker:Getting a fake pill or a sham
Speaker:surgery with the belief that
Speaker:it will make you healthy,
Speaker:that it will help you, right?
Speaker:And so people have changes
Speaker:to their physiology,
Speaker:through a placebo.
Speaker:And then you have the nocebo
Speaker:effect, which is the belief
Speaker:that it will cause harm.
Speaker:And so they've also tested
Speaker:the nocebo effect, which is,
Speaker:you know, they give people
Speaker:a saline solution, they tell
Speaker:them that it's chemotherapy,
Speaker:and they lose their hair.
Speaker:So the messaging that
Speaker:we're taking in is
Speaker:having an effect on our
Speaker:body, on our physiology,
Speaker:on our biochemistry,
Speaker:and on our hormones.
Speaker:And I think if you've got
Speaker:enough on your plate, you
Speaker:really don't need anything
Speaker:more from the outside.
Speaker:Recently, I was hearing
Speaker:someone's story about, you
Speaker:know, cutting out all this
Speaker:programming from your life.
Speaker:And this person was undergoing
Speaker:chemotherapy and was not going
Speaker:to buy in to the story that
Speaker:chemotherapy makes you sick
Speaker:and makes you lose your hair.
Speaker:And she didn't, she didn't
Speaker:get sick on it and she
Speaker:didn't lose her hair, which
Speaker:I find really fascinating.
Speaker:And I think this is something
Speaker:that we probably don't.
Speaker:focus on enough, but the power
Speaker:of words and the power of
Speaker:suggestion is so significant
Speaker:in changing our body and even
Speaker:changing our behavior and the
Speaker:things that we do in our life.
Speaker:So what I really want to
Speaker:highlight here is what,
Speaker:what enters your mind.
Speaker:You should really protect
Speaker:what enters your mind.
Speaker:Like how much TV
Speaker:are you watching?
Speaker:How much of the news
Speaker:are you digesting?
Speaker:How much time are you
Speaker:spending on social media?
Speaker:You know, how much of that
Speaker:messaging is coming through?
Speaker:I remember years ago,
Speaker:I got sick of the body
Speaker:messages for women, right?
Speaker:Looking a certain way and.
Speaker:And so I remember this
Speaker:is a long time ago, I
Speaker:stopped buying magazines.
Speaker:I used to buy like the women's
Speaker:health magazine and fashion
Speaker:magazines and I stopped
Speaker:buying them because I thought
Speaker:I'm so sick of this getting
Speaker:into my subconscious mind.
Speaker:And it made a huge difference
Speaker:to not see that stuff anymore.
Speaker:And so then you're looking
Speaker:at the new way we get that
Speaker:information, which is.
Speaker:It's like I said, on all
Speaker:our devices and on the TV
Speaker:and on Netflix as well.
Speaker:And how much of that are you
Speaker:absorbing each week and how
Speaker:much can you cut back on?
Speaker:Let me know in the comments
Speaker:below how much time are you
Speaker:spending on your devices?
Speaker:And honestly, how much do you
Speaker:think this messaging is really
Speaker:seeping in, whether it be the
Speaker:doom and gloom for the news
Speaker:about other people's symptoms
Speaker:that may scare you that you're
Speaker:going to get or any other kind
Speaker:of messaging out there online.
Speaker:Let me know in the
Speaker:comments below.
