Brittany HiggsHi.
Brittany HiggsToday on the podcast, I can't wait to welcome our guest.
Brittany HiggsShe started a nonprofit that helps victims of human trafficking to have emergency shelter and long term care.
Brittany HiggsThey're actually women who are either pregnant or already have children under three.
Brittany HiggsAnd my guest is Brittany Higgs.
Brittany HiggsShe's the founder and CEO of her campaign.
Brittany HiggsAnd they now have two homes, one in Montana and one in Denver, to help these women.
Brittany HiggsAnd I literally just got goosebumps.
Brittany HiggsLike, I'm so excited to have this conversation because she's doing such wonderful work in the world and everyone else that's helping her in donating.
Brittany HiggsBut also she's going to just shine a light on the hope that the Lord gives us.
Brittany HiggsShe's going to, she's going shine a light on what are the things that we can do in our everyday lives, whether it's through donating or helping out ministries or Non profits.
Brittany HiggsAnd so I think it's a perfect time of year, as we wrap up the year, to have this conversation.
Brittany HiggsSo thank you so much, Brittany, for joining us today.
KristenIt's an honor to be here.
KristenKristen, thanks so much.
KristenYeah.
Brittany HiggsSo tell us, Brittany.
Brittany HiggsSo I know you started her campaign, I believe, in 2016, but tell us about what was life like before that, and how did you decide to take on this, you know, this new ministry or this nonprofit?
Brittany HiggsAnd what did that look like?
Brittany HiggsWas it like a tiny thing or did it kind of happen like an explosion?
KristenIt's a great question.
KristenMy.
KristenMy husband and I, we are actually more entrepreneurial in nature.
KristenThat is what we are passionate about.
KristenWe love to build good business.
KristenWe love to build team.
KristenAnd we were doing that.
KristenWe had built multiple businesses.
KristenWe were very comfortable in our life.
KristenWe.
KristenWe owned our house, we had two small children.
KristenWe were doing a film company, and we just were really content with where we were at.
KristenWe weren't looking for anything different.
KristenAround that same time, though, in the film company, we got in touch with a friend of ours who was going to India, Nepal, and working in the red light district.
KristenSo going over there to do mission trips and helping safe houses over there, getting these women and these kids out of these brothels and trying to get them to safety.
KristenWhen she came back from one of those trips, I said, can we get coffee?
KristenI need to know what's happening over there.
KristenAnd she began to explain to me what human trafficking was and that some of these children don't even see the light of day for years, that they are locked up and enforced into this exploitation.
KristenAnd my heart broke in a way that only God can do.
KristenRight?
KristenThere's just moments that we all have where it.
KristenIt just breaks differently.
KristenAnd it's hitting you and you don't even know why.
KristenWhy at the time of the breaking, he's doing that.
KristenBut my heart was completely broken for this issue.
KristenAnd for about a year, we just prayed and asked the Lord, okay, what could we do?
KristenAnd it really was, use what you have and that will be enough.
KristenAnd that was our film company.
KristenSo we just started bringing more awareness to the issue of trafficking, partnering with nonprofits, specifically those that were going overseas.
KristenAnd one of those particular NGOs, we.
KristenI went on a couple trips with, and it was over to northern Iraq.
KristenAnd it was right after ISIS had hit Sinjar or Mosul, and hundreds of thousands of people were displaced, and they were kidnapping women and girls and sex trafficking through ISIS ranks and then across the surrounding areas.
KristenAnd this particular NGO was going over there to help rescue these women and then reintegrate them back into their families that were in these IDPs camps.
KristenAnd so we went over to bring more awareness, to bring back to the churches here in America saying, this is what's happening over here and nobody is doing anything right now.
KristenLike, how can we come alongside of these, these women and these girls?
KristenAs I sat down with them, I was the only woman on the trip.
KristenAnd so I was the one who actually got to sit down and have conversation with them, to hug them.
KristenAnd when I was doing that, I just heard this narrative over and over again.
KristenAnd each of these women and girls said, I wish I would have just died.
KristenI have nothing left.
KristenSo even though they were physically safe with their families, back with the safety of their families, what had happened internally ravished them so much that they didn't think they had any life left to live.
KristenMy heart cry after that, after coming back from that first trip, was, God, there has to be more for these women.
KristenThat can't be the end of their story.
KristenThere has to be restoration.
KristenWe know that God's heart is always for restoration.
KristenBut at that point, I had no idea what that looked like.
KristenI didn't even know what that looked like in my own life.
KristenAnd that springboarded a two year period of actually just deep inner healing with me.
KristenI was ready to do high risk missions and do video documentary work across the nation.
KristenWe had, or across the world.
KristenWe, and we had some opportunities to do that.
KristenBut when, when I asked the Lord, okay, you know, is this what I'm supposed to do?
KristenIt was a very clear no.
KristenAnd that was hard.
KristenThat was hard.
KristenI was angry.
Speaker BYeah.
Brittany HiggsAnd you already had two kids by then, or this is before kids.
KristenI had two kids.
KristenI had two little boys and my youngest, I think, was 18 months old that first time I went over to Iraq.
KristenAnd so, yeah, and we had an opportunity to, to go as a family overseas and do documentary work.
KristenAnd that was where that clear no was.
KristenAnd what, what we didn't know then was that God was actually leading us into a healing journey and he was wooing us to himself.
KristenAnd, and I think that's such a pivotal moment for each of us of, yes, we want to be the hands and feet of Christ, we want to help people.
KristenAnd, and that's good.
KristenAnd that's right.
KristenAnd we should do that.
KristenBut it's out of the overflow of knowing our identity in Christ and that we are a son and a daughter first and he cares about our restoration and our redemption.
KristenAnd through, through that two year period, he started to reveal to me trauma I had endured in my childhood.
KristenJust different abuse that set me up on a path of self destruction really in my teen years and until I met my husband and it was the first time that he was shining a light in the darkness in my soul and saying, we have to first we.
KristenI care about you first and foremost and you need to know who I am to you.
KristenAnd so after all of that, that two year, really beauty and brokenness and gosh, yeah.
KristenI mean, healing is painful, right?
KristenIt's very painful.
KristenAfter that process, Sammy and I were not looking for anything.
KristenBut we were walking in the hills in eastern Montana and God just started to reveal himself more to us in that breaking.
KristenHe was just showing up in ways that we didn't know he did.
KristenAnd that was so beautiful.
KristenBut we're walking out in the hills in eastern Montana, running our boys, doing nothing in particular and, and out of nowhere it feels like lightning hits my chest and I get this vision and that's very much how God speaks to me, is pictures.
KristenI just know it's from him and, and I got this vision of a safe house in the US we had never seen that.
KristenWe didn't know anybody that did that.
KristenAnd I just stopped and I said, holy crap, Sammy, God's talking.
KristenAnd he's like, what's he saying?
KristenAnd I'm.
KristenAnd I just told him we need to start a safe house.
KristenAnd, and he just knew that.
KristenYes, there's something on that, so let's do it.
KristenAnd so that's how we got started.
Brittany HiggsThat's amazing.
Brittany HiggsThank you for sharing that.
Brittany HiggsAnd obviously we're going to dig in a little bit more about what that looked like, especially before you actually, you know, started.
Brittany HiggsBut you know, two of the things that were coming to me is you're.
Brittany HiggsWell, first of all, all of that, right?
Brittany HiggsLike, I definitely obviously had like tears in my eyes, but.
Brittany HiggsAnd I think who can't when you're talking about anyone that's been through so much, right.
Brittany HiggsIt's just.
Brittany HiggsIt should pull on our hearts, right?
Brittany HiggsIt should be.
Brittany HiggsIt should hurt or hurts.
Brittany HiggsBut I think two of the things that were coming up to me was that you're so right when we, we have to be healed to be our best, to be able to heal or help others and that God wants us completely healed.
Brittany HiggsI don't mean that, that means that we're not going to keep growing in our faith and whatnot.
Brittany HiggsBut I think he's going to use us more completely or for bigger things when we've allowed our heart and our soul to be healed with whatever has gone through us, whether it's thoughts that are stuck in our head, whether it's disbelief, whether it's traumas, whatever it is.
Brittany HiggsAnd so I think you're right is he can still use us through those, but he's going to use us in a bigger way when we allow the time and the healing to happen for us.
Brittany HiggsSo I think that that was really important message to get out there for sure.
Brittany HiggsSo I love that.
Brittany HiggsSo you had this vision of this safe house and like you said, you understood how to start businesses, so that was obviously great experience or to start another business.
Brittany HiggsSo just tell us what it looked like from, like you had that vision to how did you get the funding and actually get women that, you know, connect with a.
Brittany HiggsThe people that were saving these women.
Brittany HiggsLike, how did that happen and what, how much time did that take?
KristenYeah, it's a great question.
KristenSo after that vision, like God does, he just started to put people into our path.
KristenMiraculously, we weren't even looking for it.
KristenI mean, there were instances where we'd be standing on the street about to meet somebody and at a stoplight and somebody is standing right next to us saying, hey, what are you guys up to?
KristenAnd we're like, well, actually we're meeting with so and so about possibly starting a safe house.
KristenAnd they're like, I'm on the human trafficking task force.
KristenYou need to talk to so and so.
KristenLike, stuff like that happens all the time in this season and after, after that word that comes in, right?
KristenThat seed that comes in to.
KristenFrom the Lord, like it just starts to breathe.
KristenAnd, and, and I think then everybody, like, he just orchestrates it, right?
KristenWe really don't have to do anything except for stand in obedience to what he's asking us to do.
KristenAnd he just brings all the pieces.
KristenSo, so in that time though, we got connected with a, A couple.
KristenTheir names are Rick and Pat Freeland.
KristenAnd they did a safe house out of their home before trafficking was even a term that we knew.
KristenSo we're bringing in women and girls and just integrating them into their family system system, providing those wraparound resources, showing them love of Jesus and then helping them re.
KristenReintegrate back into society.
KristenAnd people who.
KristenLaw enforcement that had worked with these women for years were watching this journey and watching these girls go from, you know, complete trauma brain, which, there's a lot there, you know, and not being able to function to being healthy and reintegrating into society.
KristenAnd they would go to the freelance and say, what are you guys doing?
KristenAnd Rick would be the first one to say, he's this big bouncer looking dude.
KristenHe and his wife, they're amazing.
KristenBut he would just tell them, we just love them like Jesus does.
KristenWe give them family and, and we help them with what they need to get back into society.
KristenAnd there's something beautiful about that.
KristenSo somebody gave, gave Rick's number to us within days of us having this vision.
KristenI call Rick up and he lived five hours away from us at the time.
KristenAnd I'm like, hey, Rick, we have this idea, what do you think?
KristenAnd he just said, I actually feel Jesus on this.
KristenYou need to come up and see me and my wife.
KristenSo on the drive up there, Sammy and I are thinking also, we'll build this thing because we're good at building business.
KristenWe'll build it, but we're going to find people with social work backgrounds and things to do the home.
KristenWe're not going to actually be a part of that.
KristenAnd we go.
KristenAnd Rick is a tough sell too.
KristenLike he's not somebody that just automatically loves everybody.
KristenHe's a little intimidating.
KristenBut as we're sitting down with Rick and we're talking to him about our vision, he keeps saying, when you guys are living in the house, this is what you're going to do.
KristenAnd my husband kept correcting him and saying, no, no, no, Rick, we're starting this.
KristenBut we're a young millennial couple with two small children.
KristenWe're not doing this out of our house.
KristenAnd he would just ignore Sammy.
KristenAnd five times Rick just said, when you live in the house, and was unswayed by.
KristenAnd finally Sammy just stopped correcting him.
KristenSo on the drive home after this incredible holy experience with the Freelands, and we just felt even more that seed grow.
KristenWe're driving home and Sammy looks at me and he's like, britt, are we the couple?
KristenAnd I'm.
KristenAnd I told him, I'm like, oh my gosh, I think we're the couple.
KristenAnd so after that, we really wanted to be trauma informed and make sure we do this well.
KristenWe loved the family environment that the freelance offer, but we also had a vision for expansion and just knew that we needed to do this well and right.
KristenAnd so we mentored underneath an organization in Atlanta called Wellspring Living.
KristenThey're phenomenal.
KristenThey are really a pioneer in the anti human trafficking space.
KristenThey've been doing incredible work over the last 20, 30 years.
KristenAnd so mentoring underneath them, we built our program, you know, all the infrastructure pieces that you need.
KristenAnd then we started in 2016, we opened the doors of our first safe house, which was out of our personal home.
KristenIt was a home that had a mother in law suite attached to it, and that's where the survivors would stay.
KristenAnd then during the day, we would just do community living.
KristenBut we, we did what the Freelands did.
KristenWe integrated these women into our family.
KristenAnd, and I'm for, for our, for our family, it was difficult for them to be like, okay, you're doing what with your kids?
KristenLike, what are you, what are you doing?
KristenBut I think this is what Jesus modeled.
KristenThis is the model of discipleship, right?
KristenIt's, it's come follow me as I follow Christ.
KristenAnd that is just what we got to do with these women.
KristenAnd we honestly got a front row seat to watch how God intimately speaks to each one of them, regardless if they believe in him or not.
KristenThat's what was so beautiful, is he is holding them close.
KristenAnd when you, when you are inviting them into your space where it is covered by the Holy Spirit, he gets to operate.
KristenHe has permission to come in.
KristenAnd then we got a front row seat to watch our kids minister.
KristenAnd they have such a direct line to the Lord that it, it was, we were blown away.
KristenWe, we just felt like we were growing and learning by watching what the Lord was doing in this space.
KristenAnd it was not easy.
KristenOf course, course it's hard when we're dealing with all this stuff.
KristenBut I would take those, we did that for three and a half years out of our house.
KristenAnd I would take that again and again and again with every trial because we got to see God work as the miracle working God.
KristenAnd it blew our minds.
KristenOne quick little story with that, just because it's so good, is we had another baby while we were doing that.
KristenAnd so our little girl, when she was around one and a half, we had three ladies staying with us.
KristenAnd there was one survivor who she just one of the worst case of complex PTSD that we had seen.
KristenJust panic attacks all the time.
KristenAnd the only person in the home that could calm her down was my one and a half year old.
KristenAnd what she would do is even when she was having a panic attack in another room, my daughter would know and she'd be like, oh.
KristenAnd run to her room, sit on her lap, hold her face and look into her eyes until she calmed down.
KristenWe watched this happen 20, 30 plus times.
KristenAnd nobody taught her that there's no.
KristenThat she could understand trauma, informed care and de escalation.
KristenRight.
KristenShe inherently was being used by the Holy Spirit and to this day she, she, you know, will FaceTime the Survivor and they've got a connection.
KristenBut it, we, that is the beauty that we got to watch when we did it in our home.
Brittany HiggsOh my gosh, that's amazing.
Brittany HiggsThank you for sharing that about your daughter.
Brittany HiggsYeah, I mean, so I guess one of the things that I would ask you is.
Brittany HiggsWell, I guess first of all it's back up, but then I do want to get to sort of, we want to talk a little bit more about what you, what you said, which is how God can still work in these women, right.
Brittany HiggsWhen they're in a safe, spirit filled place with people that are there to, you know, to serve them and to help, you know, guide them, you know, back.
Brittany HiggsBut so I guess first is why don't you share with us a little bit about human trafficking.
Brittany HiggsIf some people, right, are just not familiar because as we know, not everyone is familiar or don't.
Brittany HiggsDoesn't know a lot about it.
Brittany HiggsSo maybe just give us a little ground on human trafficking.
Brittany HiggsTrafficking, because I know the numbers are actually astronomically scary, but huge.
Brittany HiggsAnd then also just what, you know, what else do we need to know about human trafficking?
Brittany HiggsYou know what I mean?
Brittany HiggsSo I think let's just go back up a little bit and tell people that and then we're going to dig back into where you are just at.
KristenYes, human trafficking is, I think it's the second largest industry in the world.
KristenIt's like numbers change here and there, but it's $150 billion industry.
KristenAnd we know this has been happening since the beginning of time.
KristenYou can look back in the Old Testament and slavery has always been existed and exploitation of people has always existed.
KristenHuman trafficking, it's a complex industry.
KristenWhat I think the general term of it is when someone is being exploited or sold for a sexual act in return for something, right?
KristenSo if someone is being sold and a person is receiving from that, that is human trafficking.
KristenIt looks different, it's like I said, very complex.
KristenWhat we see is a lot of familial trafficking.
KristenSo this is actually parents or loved ones, husband, boyfriend that will traffic a, you know, a family member, their wife, their child in exchange for drugs or, or for other gain.
KristenSo that's a lot of what we see.
KristenThere's also commercial sex trafficking, which we have terms in the past prostitution and a Lot of times in commercial sex, there.
KristenThere could be a choice of stepping into that.
KristenBut what you will hear from survivors is that even with a choice, there is always abuse and exploitation.
KristenYou think you're choosing it, but really when you're.
KristenWhen you're having to perform sex acts and then turn in money and not being able to keep what you're doing, that is trafficking.
KristenAnd so.
KristenBut it.
KristenIt is very complex.
KristenI think an interesting statistic is 85% of the women we serve have been in the foster care system at one point, point in time in their life.
KristenSo broken families, childhood sexual abuse, and other forms of abuse create vulnerabilities that set these women up to be targets for traffickers.
KristenI think that's important because, yes, there's this notion about trafficking that somebody is kidnapped and then thrown into trafficking, and that does happen, but that's a very low percentage.
KristenUsually these.
KristenThese victims are.
KristenHave vulnerabilities that set them up, and that's what traffickers are looking for.
KristenTraffickers are looking for those that are seeking out love that desperately are wanting something, and they.
KristenThey provide that for them.
KristenAnd that's what makes this very difficult for survivors to step out of trafficking, is a lot of times their trafficker, like, they love their trafficker and their trafficker may love them.
KristenAnd it's very complex because that is their family system.
KristenAnd so, yeah, it's a very complex problem.
Brittany HiggsYeah.
Brittany HiggsI mean, and I think, you know, then you also.
Brittany HiggsThere's so many layers, like you said, of trauma.
Brittany HiggsI mean, the number of things they have to get through.
KristenRight.
Brittany HiggsIn ptsd, but even betrayal.
Brittany HiggsRight.
Brittany HiggsLike, in other words, it starts with one thing, and then, of course, it turns into so many other things and, you know, terrible things they have to go through.
Brittany HiggsSo thank you for sharing that.
Brittany HiggsBut, you know, with you having worked with these women, you've been overseas and you've seen some of it as well.
Brittany HiggsWhat can you just share with us about God bringing us back, even if we haven't walked through sex trafficking, human trafficking, or maybe even our own abuse to that kind?
Brittany HiggsAll of us have been through something, right?
Brittany HiggsWe've all been through some trauma or some upset or something that's.
Brittany HiggsWe're.
Brittany HiggsWe may be still holding on to even.
Brittany HiggsBut what would you just say with us about God can heal us.
Brittany HiggsHe can bring us back from anything, and then also about the evil that's in the world and.
Brittany HiggsBut what.
Brittany HiggsWhat have you seen?
Brittany HiggsLike, what's the flip side of that?
Brittany HiggsYou know, so I'd love for you to talk to us about that a little bit?
KristenAbsolutely.
KristenI know.
KristenI think there's a question that we all ask ourselves of Lord, why do you allow evil to occur and why does this happen to people?
KristenWhy are children being abused?
KristenWhy are build women being abused?
KristenAnd.
KristenAnd really in the early days too that was a heart cross cry that I had of Lord, I th.
KristenThis is beyond what I could have dreamed and imagined when it comes to abuse.
KristenAnd how is it that this is allowed to go on?
KristenAnd what do you say about this?
KristenWhat is the hope?
KristenAnd I just think it all comes back to that.
KristenRomans 8 that says I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us.
KristenThe entire universe, right, is waiting on tiptoe for the sons and daughters to be revealed and for God to redeem every single thing that we've been through.
KristenWe live in a broken world.
KristenThere is evil that exists here, but even, but greater is he that lives in us than he that is in the world.
KristenRight?
KristenAnd so what we've seen over and over again as yes, like there, there's healing modalities and we, we take excellent therapeutic care very, very seriously.
KristenAt the her campaign we have rhythms that are evidence based and very therapeutic to make sure that these women are receiving everything they need practically on this journey.
KristenBut where we see the breakthrough is when they hear God's voice for themselves.
KristenThey understand who he is.
KristenAnd when he meets them in those spaces, when they start to hear from God himself, He meets them in those areas of brokenness and only he knows what they need to hear.
KristenSo we have something called spiritual exchange.
KristenAnd that is where you just are facilitating a conversation between you and the Lord.
KristenAnd he always shows up.
KristenAnd what he speaks to each of the survivors IND individually is exactly what they need in that moment and it changes everything.
KristenSo even in their worst of worst trauma that we disassociate because our trauma just.
KristenWe think it's going to kill us when we go there.
KristenWhen they step into that place with the Lord and he reveals a truth that speaks to their heart, we see things break, we thing see things change.
KristenAnd so yes, there's evil, yes, there's horrible things.
KristenAnd sometimes when we sit with these survivors and we hear these stories, it seems hopeless.
KristenBut then God truly, he comes in, he shows them and he really is a good father that redeems every broken piece of us.
Brittany HiggsYeah.
KristenYeah.
Brittany HiggsWow.
Brittany HiggsI love it.
Brittany HiggsLike you said then God, right?
Brittany HiggsAnd I think really you know, the point is, is once these women are able to get to a safe environment and they're surrounded, right, with, with the love and the therapies that will help them, then God is able to move within them.
Brittany HiggsRight?
Brittany HiggsBecause when they're in an unsafe space, right, they're still having abuse, they're still being enslaved.
Brittany HiggsEven if God's trying to break through, they, they just can't hear it.
Brittany HiggsRight.
Brittany HiggsBecause they're just trying to survive, you know, and so, but once they're in this, the safer environment, right, he can start to break through, you know, and, and, and he does, which is so powerful.
Brittany HiggsI love that.
KristenYeah, he, he brings an upside down kingdom, right.
KristenSo everything the enemy does is a counterfeit.
KristenIt's taking what God has created and counterfeiting it.
KristenAnd, and so even when like these women are trafficked, and that's their definition of family, what, what we know is what Psalm 68 says.
KristenGod, God is a father to the fatherless.
KristenHe places the lonely in families and he sets the captives free.
KristenSo we get to turn the kingdom upside down and show them a different way that is actually fruits of the spirit.
KristenLove, joy, peace, patience, kindness.
KristenAnd there's nothing expected of them in return except for them to step into the fullness of who God has made them to be.
KristenSo good.
Brittany HiggsLove it.
Brittany HiggsOh my gosh, that's amazing.
Brittany HiggsSo being that we.
Brittany HiggsThis, I'm going to release this right before the new year.
Brittany HiggsAnd so just message of hope and encouragement through everything you've observed, both, you know, the hard things, but also just the glory of God that you keep getting to see.
Brittany HiggsRight.
Brittany HiggsAnd just how your kids are showing up, you know, with the Holy Spirit, just for everybody listening, like what, what message of hope or encouragement would you want to share?
Brittany HiggsAnd then just what do you just say to everybody about how we can show up in the world, you know, doing some good, whatever amount of good that is for, for ourselves.
KristenYeah.
KristenI think we are radically out of control.
KristenAnd what I mean by that is I have seen over and over and over again that it is only Christ in me, the hope of glory.
KristenAnd there is nothing that we do outside of Him.
KristenWe can strive and strive and strive, but that is death.
KristenAnd yet there is this place of resting in the Lord and watching him move.
KristenAnd just like it, everything he's doing is unto Himself.
KristenSo everything he calls us to is unto himself.
KristenI, I just want to encourage everybody that that is the goal.
KristenHe is the goal.
KristenHe is the prize.
KristenAnd in that journey of, of just Intimacy with the Lord.
KristenWe get to.
KristenTo realize who we are.
KristenAnd once you understand the fullness of what the gospel means and what it means to actually be in Christ and Christ in me, we get to sit in this place of rest and we get to watch the greatest adventure unfold around us.
KristenThat is what this last eight years has been like for my family is we have gotten to be on the crazy roller coaster of faith and hardship, but Jesus showing us glory after glory after glory of who he is and who we are, and it's worth all of it.
KristenAnd so I think when it comes to who should I help or how do I help or, you know, what can I do?
KristenPractically start by going and sitting in your prayer closet and just learn to hear the voice of God for yourself.
KristenOpen up the, like, really deep, deep dive into Lord, what are you saying in this moment?
KristenAnd he is going to direct your steps each, each and every step of the way.
KristenHe really is so faithful to show you where you're going to go next.
Brittany HiggsOh, my gosh, I love that.
Brittany HiggsIt's.
Brittany HiggsYeah, you know, just what a good reminder, right, that it's really about us continuing to deepen our relationship, to have an intimate relationship.
Brittany HiggsRight.
Brittany HiggsAnd then it will be known to us, right.
Brittany HiggsLike, we will know how we're supposed to move in partnership with him, you know, and so I love that.
Brittany HiggsThat's amazing.
Brittany HiggsSo just last, any last things you want to share with us before we wrap up, and then you can share with people how they can find out more about her campaign.
KristenYeah, absolutely.
KristenI think, you know, one thing I do want to address is at the her campaign, we see that each person that comes to us is a is.
KristenIs a whole person.
KristenAnd that means body, soul, and spirit.
KristenRight?
KristenSo our program is very comprehensive of we're first addressing, okay, the body is important.
KristenGod gave us these bodies for a reason, and we are supposed to take care of them.
KristenRight.
KristenThese women are coming in with so many deficiencies.
KristenSo we provide integrative and functional medicine into our programs as well.
KristenSo we do neurofeedback, IV nutrition, and all of these modalities to just come alongside of the body while it starts to heal.
KristenThen we look at, okay, what is, what's happened to the brain?
KristenLike, what is the trauma that's happened and what are the therapeutic interventions that we need to do to really help that?
KristenAnd then the spiritual component of, like, okay, Lord, come and show up in crazy radical ways for these women while they're going through this process.
KristenProcess.
KristenAnd I just Think it's important even just in, in the body of Christ that we remember to look at ourselves as holistic beings.
KristenLike he wants us to be at home in our body because this is where he is.
KristenAnd so helping us like heal mind, body and soul completely and holistically is so crucial for this work.
KristenBut I think for each of us too.
Speaker BYeah, absolutely.
Brittany HiggsI mean, I think, you know, much like, yeah, I was saying earlier, you know, you have to be, you have to be healed, you know, or the more healed we are right through, through the work that Christ is trying to do in us, the more we can show up and serve and we can, you know, do the work that he's calling us to.
Brittany HiggsBut that includes, to your point, right, Mind, body and spirit.
Brittany HiggsAnd so it's, it's so for some of us.
Brittany HiggsAnd I'm not saying every single thing, like I have two siblings with diabetes, type 1 diabetes.
KristenRight.
Brittany HiggsLike, I'm not saying that in.
Brittany HiggsRight.
Brittany HiggsThat that's going to get healed.
Brittany HiggsYou know, it's not something that they can currently, you know, fix.
Brittany HiggsBut what I'm saying is if we have things that are, are able to be addressed, like vitamin deficiencies, malnutrition, you know, never getting outside, you know, so I'm just saying doing all the things we can do, right.
Brittany HiggsTo have a healthy mind, body and soul.
Brittany HiggsSo I absolutely agree with you.
Brittany HiggsThat's so good.
Brittany HiggsI love that.
KristenAll right.

Brittany HiggsSo how can people learn more about her campaign and connect and learn about your programs and then how they can donate or, you know, participate if they're interested.

Speaker BAs we wrap up today's episode, I just wanted to share an excerpt from the book how's your soul?
Speaker BBy Judah Smith.
Speaker BHere's what he says.
Speaker BIn the previous chapter, we looked at God's original design for our souls and concluded that our souls can be healthy only when they are at home in God.
Speaker BThat is, when they return to God, when they find their purpose in God, and when they return to relationship with God.
Speaker BWe used the word worship to refer to that place of intimacy and closeness with our creator.
Speaker BHe later says, remember, God is the designer, the architect, and the originator of this complicated entity we call the human soul.
Speaker BWhen he created the soul, he placed in it in an optimal environment, in a place where it could thrive.
Speaker BWhy?
Speaker BBecause God wants us to thrive in life.
Speaker BHe didn't create us to barely make it or to merely survive.
Speaker BHe wants to help us have healthy souls and full lives.
Speaker BIf we can implement these elements into our everyday lives, I believe we will be healthy to our cores.
Speaker BEven when our outside environments aren't particularly healthy or stable.
Speaker BIf we are healthy on the inside, we will conquer adversity.
Speaker BOh, friends, that's what this whole episode was talking about.
Speaker BIt's letting God grow in us, do good works in us, letting us understand that we want to keep growing and to have an intimate relationship with God.
Speaker BBecause when he we do that and he speaks to us, we will know we are loved.
Speaker BWe will know our purpose.
Speaker BWe will know that no matter what we've walked through, no matter what trauma, no matter what unsafe space or unsafe person or adversity we've walked through, that it will be okay when we have the gift that God has given us.
Speaker BAnd so that's it, friends.
Speaker BI just hope that this episode both gave you some food for thought, but also encouraged you in your own life.
