Hi, I'm Rob Carver, author of the book 366 Days of Tennis, A Tip of Day to Improve

Speaker:

Your Game.

Speaker:

I'm going to get some of the time and you know what that means, it's mixed doubles season.

Speaker:

Today I got a great tip to help you earn serve better when you're playing mixed doubles.

Speaker:

Set up the conventional formation of one up one back, try playing two back at the baseline.

Speaker:

I know ladies when you say this, your male partner says, "I don't want to do that, that's too defensive."

Speaker:

So try saying this to your male partner.

Speaker:

Say, "Hey, can you help me out with one shot and come back to the baseline?"

Speaker:

After that, let him do what he wants.

Speaker:

This will allow you to play against the tough serve or the spin serve that you're not used to seeing from the male opponent.

Speaker:

Remember, it's mixed doubles, not mixed troubles.

Speaker:

Have a great day, hang tough.
