On today's episode of Worship Leader Pod, I'm joined by my amazing friend, Jasmine Wheeler, worship pastor at Mercy Culture Church.

Amber Fugate

Together we explore what it means to be a creative in God's kingdom, the power of godly influence and the joys of motherhood and so much more.

Amber Fugate

So open up your heart and let God speak and move as you listen.

Amber Fugate

Come on, let's get into it.

Amber Fugate

So, hello and welcome back to Worship Leader Pod.

Amber Fugate

I am your host, Amber Fugate.

Amber Fugate

And today I'm super pumped to have a very long time friend of mine on the show who I've known ever since she was a young teenager, which is crazy.

Amber Fugate

And she, and I've been super blessed to watch her grow into an amazing woman of God, a mother, a wife.

Amber Fugate

And I'm super excited to have her here.

Amber Fugate

Welcome Jasmine Wheeler, the one and only.

Amber Fugate

Welcome.

Amber Fugate

Welcome, Jasmine.

Jasmine Wheeler

Hi.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's an honor to be on this podcast.

Jasmine Wheeler

Thanks for having me.

Amber Fugate

Yes, yes, absolutely.

Amber Fugate

This is, you know, we're recording this the day after the election.

Amber Fugate

So it's, it's a lot of, it's a lot of different vibes going on, good ones and also processing as we were kind of chatting before the show.

Amber Fugate

So we don't know where this is going to go.

Amber Fugate

We're going to go with whatever the Holy Spirit wants to do in this conversation.

Amber Fugate

But I am super, super excited, Jasmine, to have you here because, you know, obviously with the history that we've had just from me meeting you when I was in Bible college in Columbus, Ohio and being through, going through Bible college and then even still connecting throughout the years, whether it's like via social media, calling each other, etc, and it's honestly been super cool, like super cool to see you like from jazz, you know, it's like Jazz to Jasmine to Pastor Jasmine, to Mama Jasmine to wife Jasmine.

Amber Fugate

Like, it's super dope.

Amber Fugate

Like, I like love it.

Amber Fugate

It's like an unfolding and it's been super, honestly encouraging for me even in this year where I've been able to really lean in on just your amazing wisdom throughout this election and not just election, but just like my walk with the Lord and understanding the Bible and understanding what God is doing and really walking through really the whole country and those who have an ear to hear through navigating the election year and the Times that we live in.

Amber Fugate

And so it's been really super honoring to be able to watch you and kind of be a part of that.

Amber Fugate

And really, like, I feel like I owe you an offering because of how much I've been invested in just, like, listening to you and all of that.

Jasmine Wheeler

So.

Amber Fugate

I have a funny story.

Amber Fugate

It's not my funny actually.

Amber Fugate

It's actually really cool story, but I remember when I was.

Amber Fugate

Let's see, I just got married, and I.

Amber Fugate

I don't know if we were, like, texting or something.

Amber Fugate

It was like, so 2011.

Amber Fugate

I left Columbus in 2007 or 8, and we were still in touch.

Amber Fugate

And you're like, we got to talk.

Amber Fugate

I'm like, all right, call me, girl.

Amber Fugate

Let's chat.

Amber Fugate

And you downloaded a vision that you had for Hollywood coming to know Christ.

Amber Fugate

Like, people in that industry, you.

Amber Fugate

Like, the whole industry needs to change.

Amber Fugate

There's literally, I'm excited to meet and I can't remember who you mentioned, like, the most famous person and lead that person to Jesus.

Amber Fugate

And you're just going through this whole vision.

Amber Fugate

I'm just like, yeah.

Amber Fugate

Yes, let's go.

Amber Fugate

Right pumped.

Amber Fugate

And I just loved seeing that, like, that seed almost, like, get kind of, like planting it with your words.

Amber Fugate

And then literally, I'm watching that unfold to today.

Amber Fugate

Like the.

Amber Fugate

And it's not about.

Amber Fugate

It's not about popularity or, like, influence.

Amber Fugate

It's about the godly influence to go into spaces to basically invade the spaces for the kingdom of God.

Amber Fugate

Like, that's been super, super dope about that.

Amber Fugate

Talk about that a little bit, like.

Amber Fugate

Talk about, like, oh, maybe give us a little bit of that vision that you had and where you see it now and things that you.

Amber Fugate

Anything you want to share in that?

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

So, I mean, it's crazy.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's been a wild journey in that space.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think I had an encounter probably early, early 2000s, when I was in high school, early high school, where I was at a store with some friends, and we saw, you know, the tabloids right before you about to check out, and there's, like, candy and, like, magazines, and they try to get you before you finish.

Jasmine Wheeler

They get you right.

Jasmine Wheeler

So I saw a magazine at the time that was talking about Lindsay Lohan and how jacked up her life was.

Jasmine Wheeler

It was some divorce.

Jasmine Wheeler

Her parents were being divorced.

Jasmine Wheeler

All this drama and drugs.

Jasmine Wheeler

Da, da, da, da.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I was standing with some friends, and we saw it, and my friends at the time started kind of laughing and poking fun at Lindsay Lohan's life and There was this, like, deep conviction that came up in me of, like, if that was any of us, we wouldn't be laughing like that.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, it wouldn't be.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it kind of started this journey with me of, like, paying attention to people, celebrities and people in the industry, influencers, their lives, and like, how we had stripped their humanity from them so much.

Jasmine Wheeler

We were entertained by them, but we don't care about their human condition.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it was bothering me the more I saw it.

Jasmine Wheeler

And basically at the same time, you might remember this, but the church that I grew up in, which is the place where you're at, the Bible college that you went to, was.

Jasmine Wheeler

I.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't know why, if I'm super honest, but I just had, like, supernatural favor there.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I would get caught up on the stage all the time, or like, I just had favor at this mega church.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I started to notice at some point in my time there that people would almost try to build relationship with me to try to, like, climb this weird social ladder in the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it just put a bad taste in my mouth for influence.

Jasmine Wheeler

Put a bad taste in my mouth for stages for being an influence at churches.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, I was just like, I don't want.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't want this.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't know what this is, but I'm not interested in it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I saw a lot behind the scenes, and it was just kind of like, I don't want anything to do with influence.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't want anybody treating me weird, and I don't want to be on the stage.

Jasmine Wheeler

But it also gave me even more compassion and empathy for people in the industry who actually had real intense influence.

Jasmine Wheeler

So mine was minor in our little.

Jasmine Wheeler

Our little community, our little church.

Jasmine Wheeler

But I'm like, if I'm experiencing this on this level, what is the Lindsay Lohan?

Jasmine Wheeler

What are these people experiencing?

Jasmine Wheeler

And so God really gave me a burden during that season for people in the arts and entertainment industry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And as I began to pray for those people and as I jumped into music In 2009, 2010, I started getting all these prophetic words about doing music.

Jasmine Wheeler

And super long story short, it's a wild, long journey.

Jasmine Wheeler

But I gave the Lord my yes and music.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then the Holy Spirit began to teach me how to play the guitar.

Jasmine Wheeler

And music just kind of like opened up for me in a way that I wasn't expecting as I went into college.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the mix of getting into doing music and the heart for people in the arts and entertainment industry kind of led me into this place of becoming very Passionate, I believe, a godly carrying God's heart for the arts and entertainment industry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then the Lord gave me a vision of this creative community that would train and equip people to go into the industry and advance the kingdom.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's people that need to know the Lord there.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I believe that the arts and entertainment industry is one of the greatest ways that generations get discipled.

Jasmine Wheeler

We're in election in an election season, and we literally have seen specifically the Democratic side, some of the Republican side, but we specifically watched an entire party use the arm of the arts and entertainment industry to try to win an election.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I really believe that politics is downstream from the arts and entertainment industry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so, wow, if we're not impacting the arts and entertainment industry, then we will lose continuously.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, and so we can't, like, not be involved in the arts and entertainment industry and not try to impact that world and train people how to do it and expect to see revival and reformation in our day.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's just not real because it's one of the most influential places in the nation.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I always tell people I got discipled by Eminem.

Jasmine Wheeler

They're like, you hung out with Eminem when you were little?

Jasmine Wheeler

No, but I listened to Eminem all the time in middle school.

Jasmine Wheeler

Eminem taught me how to.

Jasmine Wheeler

How to.

Jasmine Wheeler

Eminem taught me how to process my family brokenness.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it wasn't great what he taught me, but he taught me how to process the brokenness of my home.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

And there's little girls being discipled by Taylor Swift right now.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's little girls being discipled by Sexy Red.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's little girls and little boys discipled by all of these people in the industry.

Jasmine Wheeler

So the further we get from the arts and entertainment industry and the desire to see the kingdom advance, the less ground we take for the kingdom, where people get to know Jesus and get to know the ways of God, you know?

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

And what do you say to people who feel like, oh, well, you know, we shouldn't get into that world.

Amber Fugate

That's not like, you know, and you're talking about it, but it's like, that's a real feeling.

Amber Fugate

Even with the political side, which I love, with you guys at mercy culture, Landon and Heather and your community, you talk about how, like, things are not.

Amber Fugate

It's not a political thing.

Amber Fugate

It's spiritual.

Amber Fugate

Like, there's a spiritual asset to that.

Amber Fugate

But it feels like in the Christian culture, that feels like, well, don't do that.

Amber Fugate

That's separate.

Amber Fugate

We pray for them on the side but we're not engaged with that.

Amber Fugate

So like, how do we do that better and how do we break down those walls to get into that sphere?

Amber Fugate

Because you're right, we do need to be taking dominion in that area because it affects the entire country, which is crazy.

Amber Fugate

Like, we're watching it, you know, we watched it happen.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I think the language that I would use is Jesus instructed us to be salt and light in the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so that doesn't look like just being stuck in the salt shaker.

Amber Fugate

Come on, get me out of your salt shaker.

Jasmine Wheeler

It is what it is.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like what good is salt if it's just sitting in the salt shaker?

Jasmine Wheeler

Like it actually has to do something in the earth, you know?

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I think sometimes we have this mindset that if we just stay in our little Christian bubbles and just pray and just preach the gospel to people in the church, that like, things are gonna get better.

Jasmine Wheeler

And yeah, especially I keep hearing that.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm just like, guys, like, let's just be logical.

Jasmine Wheeler

Let's just think logically here.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, does it make sense?

Jasmine Wheeler

You know, not to mention biblically, it's not biblical.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so you have people like Daniel, people like Esther, people like Ezra in the Bible, all over the Bible, Joseph, like you can literally go down the line and see that there are people who were involved very much beyond the temple, beyond the four walls of the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

The reason that Jesus had to wash the disciples feet is because they weren't just hanging out in the temple all day, they were out among the people in society.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I, I just, I get really passionate about this and I have to like, bring it back, calm down a little bit because I think we're losing ground because of this lie that we can actually do something and not have to leave the four walls of the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's comfort, it's comfortable to stay in the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

Is it easier to stay in the church?

Jasmine Wheeler

It's less conflict to stay in the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, we don't, we don't get to live that way.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think something that I love that's interesting, that I think is super interesting is in the 70s, we all love to talk about the Jesus people movement that happened in the 70s, right.

Jasmine Wheeler

We love what God did and all the hippies coming to know Jesus and.

Jasmine Wheeler

But if you look, if you look at it or in the 60s, sorry, the late 60s, into the 70s, and if you look at it, during that time was the sexual revolution, right?

Jasmine Wheeler

So there's drugs, there's sex, there's music, all this stuff happening in creativity.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's a ton happening in the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

And all of a sudden, God starts moving.

Jasmine Wheeler

People start getting saved again, baptized in the ocean.

Jasmine Wheeler

All kinds of crazy stuff is going on.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then there's these three men of God that have these encounters with the Lord where God begins to speak to them about these other areas of influence that God wanted them to impact in order to see people's lives changed.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we know them now.

Jasmine Wheeler

Some people know them now as the seven mountains.

Jasmine Wheeler

But.

Jasmine Wheeler

But there's three men of God that had similar encounters of the Lord speaking to them about this, that were in leadership, one of which was the leader of.

Jasmine Wheeler

We would know the ministries of Ywam.

Jasmine Wheeler

I can't the three guys named at this moment.

Jasmine Wheeler

But they're super influential in ministry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And basically what happened is that message was revolutionary because during the Jesus People movement, the keynote scripture for that movement was, come out from among you and be ye separate.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so a ton of people came out of culture, they came out of working in the marketplace, came out of all these different realms, and they're like, we're just going to focus on Jesus.

Jasmine Wheeler

And that was amazing.

Jasmine Wheeler

But if you look at it, I think it's interesting that God's response to that movement was to give people the revelation of the seven mountains and say, this is awesome, but I need you to go and do something with it outside of the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

You to actually, like, go and influence society.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so what happened, the response to come out from among you and be separate was to make all of these subculture, or to make all of these little things of Christian music and Christian movies and Christian everything.

Jasmine Wheeler

We began to create our own subculture to keep ourselves away from people.

Jasmine Wheeler

And there's tons of people now that will say, that was one of people who were involved in that then who will today.

Jasmine Wheeler

Dutch Sheets is one of those people who talked about it a few weeks ago at a conference at our church that they realized one of the biggest mistakes they made during that time was to get out of culture because we forfeited territory.

Jasmine Wheeler

God wanted to take what he was doing in those people, and he wanted to put it on display for the nation to see.

Jasmine Wheeler

But we said, no, no, no.

Jasmine Wheeler

We're just gonna, like, get in our little corners and recreate our own genres of music and recreate our own movies and look at what Jesus has done in our life.

Jasmine Wheeler

Thank you, Lord, for the Holy Spirit that's filled us with wisdom and strategy and all these things.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we're actually going to go and now See the kingdom impact movies and impact the music industry, impact all these things.

Jasmine Wheeler

So I just believe we lost a lot of territory during that time.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I don't agree with all of the teachings and all the things that have come out about Set the Seven Mountains and Dominionism and all that.

Jasmine Wheeler

So I don't agree with all of that.

Jasmine Wheeler

But I do believe that God has given us an assignment to be salt and light in the earth, that we should be in all of those places influencing, impacting, seeing God's the kingdom, the attributes of heaven, the ways of God impacting those areas and those spheres of influence in the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so, anyway, I'm super passionate about it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I just think it's a work of the enemy to keep us stuck in the church.

Amber Fugate

Yes, yes.

Amber Fugate

I mean, you can see even now, I mean, maybe you can attest to this because you're really involved in this.

Amber Fugate

But, like, there is change happening in that.

Amber Fugate

Like, we are.

Amber Fugate

Like, the church really is going.

Amber Fugate

And you can tell.

Amber Fugate

I mean, even the music industry, I'm like, whoa, we're not messing around, you know, and in movies and things like that, how do we.

Amber Fugate

Because I'm sitting at the table, I'm talking to you.

Amber Fugate

Because it's like, okay, I want to know how I can do that.

Amber Fugate

But I'm sure there's other people who might be listening, like, okay, how do I get involved in that?

Amber Fugate

And I know a lot of that.

Amber Fugate

It comes with awareness, knowing where you are in a sense of like, am I stuck here?

Amber Fugate

Have I been complacent and kind of stuck in my own world, that I've been afraid to go out and, you know, showcase God's creativity through, whether it's songwriting or teaching, teaching something or.

Amber Fugate

There's so many different avenues.

Amber Fugate

But maybe we need more awareness of where we are and then to step out into what God's called us, basically to take territory.

Amber Fugate

And I love that.

Amber Fugate

That phrase that you said.

Amber Fugate

It's like we're losing ground.

Amber Fugate

And we don't need to be losing ground at this point.

Amber Fugate

We need to be making traction.

Amber Fugate

We need to be.

Amber Fugate

We need to be taking over, in a sense, in a godly way.

Amber Fugate

And so how do we do that?

Amber Fugate

Like, what?

Amber Fugate

Some.

Amber Fugate

Anything you got practical.

Amber Fugate

It could be spiritual applications to maybe help somebody who's like, okay, I hear what you're saying, Jessica.

Amber Fugate

How do I move forward in doing that?

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah, absolutely, I think so.

Jasmine Wheeler

Let me just start with this.

Jasmine Wheeler

The Bible says that the kingdom of heaven, that it is currently advancing.

Amber Fugate

Yes.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so to me, what that Means is God is moving.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the ways of God, the nature of God, the, the way of his kingdom is advancing in the earth.

Jasmine Wheeler

It is expanding, it is moving forward, it is spreading in the earth.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I feel like walking with Jesus is an invitation to partner with God in the advancing.

Jasmine Wheeler

So that doesn't mean that I can pick up myself and just decide I'm going to strive and just make something happen in the kingdom.

Jasmine Wheeler

It means, no, no, no, God's doing something.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like he said that the kingdom is advancing currently.

Jasmine Wheeler

I get to jump in, partner with God and be a part of what he's doing in the earth.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so practically speaking, I think paying attention to the things that God has given us, the things that he's put in our hands.

Jasmine Wheeler

So good.

Jasmine Wheeler

I love that Jesus is ministering to people in the Gospels and all of a sudden he realizes these people haven't eaten, they're hungry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And one of the stories goes is there's a little boy who has some lunch, and they take lunch.

Jasmine Wheeler

And Jesus multiplies this little boy's lunch to feed the masses.

Jasmine Wheeler

And to me, our gifts, our talents, our passions, the things that make us come alive are our lunch in the hands of Jesus.

Jasmine Wheeler

So when we give Jesus our gifts, when we give him our talents, when we give him the passions, things that he's put inside of us, he takes those things, he multiplies it, and then he gives it to, he uses it to serve the world the way that he wants serve the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

So the problem is, if you think that your lunch is yours, it never multiplies.

Jasmine Wheeler

You take the lunch and you give it to Jesus and you say, this is not mine, this is actually yours.

Jasmine Wheeler

You give Jesus permission to do what he wants with it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I can't help but wonder in that story, like, if you think about the kids lunch, like, what actually happened, like in the actual physical sense, like in the molecular structure of the food, like what happened, this kid's food changed somehow.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like it turned into something that it was not in order to serve people.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so with that being said, it's kind of like you have these gifts, you have these passions, but when you put it in the hands of God, you give him permission to do whatever he wants, wants with it.

Jasmine Wheeler

Which means sometimes the structure of it, the way that you saw it last, it may change by the time it gets in his hands.

Jasmine Wheeler

But when you give it to him, it's trusting.

Jasmine Wheeler

He's going to do what he wants to do with it, and he's going.

Amber Fugate

To do more than you could have.

Jasmine Wheeler

Did with it on your own.

Jasmine Wheeler

What you could have did with your gift on your own was just feed yourself, was just satisfy yourself.

Jasmine Wheeler

But when you put it in the hands of Jesus, he actually can serve people.

Jasmine Wheeler

He can.

Jasmine Wheeler

He can serve people.

Jasmine Wheeler

No.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I want Jesus to serve people with the gift that he gave to me anyway, because it's not mine, it's his.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so we have these Christians who have these gifts and these passions to act and to sing.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I mean, man, Amber.

Jasmine Wheeler

All the time.

Jasmine Wheeler

All the time.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm meeting worship leaders who they love leading worship.

Jasmine Wheeler

They're passionate about it.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I'll be like, but, like, do you write songs?

Jasmine Wheeler

They're like, yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then they'll pull up their voice memos and they'll have a ton of songs that aren't worship songs that are about life and about love and about family and about all these kingdom things, and they don't know what to do with them.

Jasmine Wheeler

And they think, I can't do anything with this because I'm just a worship leader.

Jasmine Wheeler

I just gotta, like, lead corporate worship.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the dangerous part of that is to me.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I'm not.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm not trying to come at you.

Jasmine Wheeler

Oh, you're good.

Amber Fugate

I love it.

Amber Fugate

No, no, I love it.

Jasmine Wheeler

But I'm saying, like, those songs are lunch.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, that's our lunch.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we have to put it in the hands of Jesus so he can do something with it.

Jasmine Wheeler

He doesn't just want to minister to the world through our worship songs.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, he wants to disciple a generation on heartache and love and marriage and heartbreak and growing up in a world like this.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, he wants to use people who have met him.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, who better to write love songs than people who have authentically encountered the God who is love?

Jasmine Wheeler

Yes.

Amber Fugate

That's so good.

Jasmine Wheeler

Surrender this position of writing love songs to people who are bound in lust and sexual perversion and sexual immorality.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we say, we'll let you write the love songs because we're not allowed to write love songs.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's like, hold on.

Jasmine Wheeler

Why?

Jasmine Wheeler

Why aren't we writing love songs that make marriage.

Jasmine Wheeler

Marriage is stronger and marriage is healthier?

Jasmine Wheeler

So there's all these pockets.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm specifically talking songwriting right now.

Jasmine Wheeler

But look at that same perspective.

Jasmine Wheeler

Think about it with acting.

Jasmine Wheeler

Think about it with film.

Jasmine Wheeler

Think about it with fashion.

Jasmine Wheeler

Think about it with all these other areas.

Jasmine Wheeler

I mean, the Bible says that when Paul would go minister that his handkerchiefs carried healing power on them, that people got healed from his.

Jasmine Wheeler

From his handkerchiefs.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so, like, to me, I'm like, okay, you can look at that story and be like, cool.

Jasmine Wheeler

The power of God was on the dude's handkerchiefs.

Jasmine Wheeler

Well, to me, like, that was fabric.

Jasmine Wheeler

God showed us that he can be on fabric, that he can touch people.

Jasmine Wheeler

He can heal people through fabric.

Jasmine Wheeler

So why aren't we in the fashion industry making clothes that carry the power of God?

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, why do we think we just gotta make shirts for Christians that say scripture on them and sell them to church people?

Jasmine Wheeler

And that's the only way that we can see the kingdom advance?

Jasmine Wheeler

No, there should be people at New York Fashion Week that are creating clothes that recreate the standard of what modesty and purity looks like in a generation and makes it attractive again to be modest, to be pure, to value your body and to.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then clothes that carry the God on them.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, you know, and so we just get stuck in these boxes.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so, practically speaking, I would say, understanding that your gift is not your own, continuously giving your gift back to Jesus and saying, jesus, whatever you want to do with my songwriting, whatever you want to do with this desire for this passion for fashion, whatever you want to do with this passion for film and for acting, I'm inviting you to take this bread and take these fish and serve people with it and give me your heart and mind for what it looks like to do that.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I think it has to start with a heart posture.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think it has to start with praying, that type of prayer.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then I think the Lord begins to give strategy.

Jasmine Wheeler

He begins to give blueprints and instructions as we ask him.

Jasmine Wheeler

And he says, hey, I want you to do this.

Jasmine Wheeler

I want you to go try out for this film.

Jasmine Wheeler

I want you to release this album about.

Jasmine Wheeler

Release this song, this video on TikTok.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, he begins to give instructions, but it has to start with the heart posture of, this is not mine.

Jasmine Wheeler

This is yours.

Amber Fugate

Right?

Amber Fugate

Right.

Amber Fugate

Absolutely.

Amber Fugate

And I immediately just imagine the story in Exodus when Moses is giving God all his excuses and his I can't do this because of.

Amber Fugate

And I love God's response three times.

Amber Fugate

And God says, you know, what's in front of you?

Amber Fugate

Like, what have I given to you?

Amber Fugate

And then Moses goes.

Amber Fugate

And he goes through the list of why he's unfit for this position.

Amber Fugate

He's giving God the decree.

Amber Fugate

He said, don't you see?

Amber Fugate

These are the things that I cannot do.

Amber Fugate

And he said, but am I not the God who made the mouth?

Amber Fugate

Am I not the God who can fill?

Amber Fugate

Am I not the God who can open eyes?

Amber Fugate

And open ears.

Amber Fugate

And then Moses again says, I know, but can you just pick somebody else?

Amber Fugate

Like, I feel like there's a better option.

Amber Fugate

I feel like there's a better option.

Amber Fugate

And then God's.

Amber Fugate

God in his mercy and his love does bring someone to help Moses.

Amber Fugate

And I love that picture because I can relate to it, too, in a sense of, like, someone can come alongside of you.

Amber Fugate

God will give you everything you need is basically what I'm trying to say.

Amber Fugate

He will give you everything that you need, and he will reveal to you that what you have in your hand, your lunch, is not yours.

Amber Fugate

And he wants to multiply it.

Amber Fugate

And it's not going to be.

Amber Fugate

And it's not going to be in your doing.

Amber Fugate

It's not by your might, it's not by your power, and it's not even in your own strength.

Amber Fugate

It's about you just saying yes, giving God your yes every single step of the way.

Amber Fugate

Like.

Amber Fugate

And I say, like, I'm guilty of that because it's like, you just get too much in your head, especially with songwriting, because you're like, is this going to be it?

Amber Fugate

Is this the hit?

Amber Fugate

Is this going to be the one?

Amber Fugate

You know, And I remember you and I talking about, like, even songs that you're like, yeah, I got the song.

Amber Fugate

I didn't even think it was going to go anywhere.

Amber Fugate

I didn't even.

Amber Fugate

I just.

Amber Fugate

It was, you know.

Amber Fugate

But if you can look at songs or you can look at writing or you can look at fashion, you can look at all these things as an offering.

Amber Fugate

Yeah, you bring it to God as an offering, and that is what he wants.

Amber Fugate

He's not looking for sacrifice.

Amber Fugate

He's looking for your heart.

Amber Fugate

He's looking for the offering.

Amber Fugate

And so when we give that to him.

Amber Fugate

When I said yes to leading worship, even though I felt unqualified, X, Y, and Z, When I started this podcast, and I felt unqualified and don't know what to do, God says, what have I given to you?

Amber Fugate

Just say yes.

Amber Fugate

And he.

Amber Fugate

And he gives us exactly what we need.

Amber Fugate

And I love that, Jasmine, because I feel like even when you were talking about people in the industry who need Jesus, who need even just that encouragement and that light, you know, to do what they're doing and see that what they are doing is a reflection of what God has put inside of them, they need those errands to come into their life and say, hey, I'm going to help you with this.

Amber Fugate

We need to disciple these people, and we should be just as passionate about them as Just like the people that we go to church with every week.

Amber Fugate

And so I just.

Amber Fugate

I love just the idea.

Amber Fugate

Not even the idea, but the truth of, you know, our gift is not ours, and it is his.

Amber Fugate

And when we can identify.

Amber Fugate

That's why I talked about awareness.

Amber Fugate

When you are aware, I feel like the Holy Spirit gives us awareness.

Amber Fugate

He says, whoa, where are you?

Amber Fugate

What have I given you?

Amber Fugate

What are you doing?

Amber Fugate

Where have I placed you?

Amber Fugate

It's not by accident, but I'm giving you a.

Amber Fugate

The instruction, too.

Amber Fugate

I'm going to give you the instruction to take a step forward.

Amber Fugate

Just say yes every single time.

Amber Fugate

So anyone who's listening to this, you're kind of drenched in songwriting and not sure what to do.

Amber Fugate

This is also me.

Amber Fugate

Don't know what to do.

Amber Fugate

I have all these voice memos.

Amber Fugate

Don't know what to do.

Amber Fugate

But have I offered it to the Lord, or have I just kept it for myself to only feed myself?

Amber Fugate

Ask yourself those questions, and these are good questions because they're healthy questions to help you be aware of what the Kingdom of God is doing now.

Amber Fugate

Because he wants us to participate in that.

Amber Fugate

So if you're listening to that, listen to the Holy Spirit and let him just speak to you and things that you've done and things that you have in your hand that he wants you to offer up.

Amber Fugate

So that was extra.

Amber Fugate

But I.

Amber Fugate

I love that.

Amber Fugate

And I have been following Axel and.

Amber Fugate

Is that.

Amber Fugate

Did I say that right?

Amber Fugate

Okay.

Amber Fugate

Yeah, Axel.

Amber Fugate

Mercy culture.

Amber Fugate

I mean, you guys know I'm a fan.

Amber Fugate

I'm just like, I'm here for it.

Amber Fugate

Okay?

Amber Fugate

I'm here for it.

Amber Fugate

And I just absolutely love that you invest in this.

Amber Fugate

You know, it's like, especially in creatives, it's like.

Amber Fugate

Yeah, I feel like we get not missed, but kind of especially, like in the church, you know, there's not actually that space to really do as much as you want.

Amber Fugate

Not that churches necessarily don't want that, but we don't make as much room for it so that people can find that awareness and know what God has placed in their hands.

Amber Fugate

And so.

Amber Fugate

So I'd love for you just to talk a little bit about what Axel is, where it stemmed from.

Amber Fugate

And really, I know that you guys have conferences and you have, like, all these different things that people can be a part of, and I feel like this community would very, very much benefit from that.

Amber Fugate

So please talk about that.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yes.

Jasmine Wheeler

So Axel is a.

Jasmine Wheeler

We call it a house vision of mercy culture.

Jasmine Wheeler

House visions are basically ministries that have one step, one foot in our house.

Jasmine Wheeler

Our church and one foot out.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so a lot of times, maybe in the past, people call those paraministries and they would get a bad rap.

Jasmine Wheeler

We found a way in our church for people to carry vision that's beyond just the corporate encounter, be supported by the church and have reach outside of the church.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so Axel is one of those.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I lead Axel.

Jasmine Wheeler

I started with an encounter that I had in 2013, wasn't.

Jasmine Wheeler

I wasn't like asking the Lord for this or praying for this, but I heard the Lord say, right?

Jasmine Wheeler

I heard the Lord whisper audibly to me, it's like an arts label one day.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I was like, I don't know what you're talking about.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't know what that means.

Jasmine Wheeler

I've never heard that phrase before.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't know what this is.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then I went into a meeting with my pastor at the time, and during our meeting he stopped me and he said, hey, can I submit this prophetic word to you?

Jasmine Wheeler

And I said, sure.

Jasmine Wheeler

And he says, the Lord showed me that he's about to give you a blueprint for an apostolic creatives movement in the earth.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's going to be like an arts label.

Jasmine Wheeler

And blew me away because I hadn't really.

Jasmine Wheeler

I hadn't shared that with it with a soul.

Jasmine Wheeler

And that's the exact same phrase that the Lord gave me.

Jasmine Wheeler

A couple weeks later, I'm recording my first full length album and I'm with some friends at another friend's house who's producing the album.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I had this encounter with the Lord.

Jasmine Wheeler

And in this encounter, I'm in this room and on the wall of the room I was in, I see this neon blue ink, this.

Jasmine Wheeler

This blueprint drawn out in neon blue ink.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I began.

Jasmine Wheeler

I opened my journal and began to draw out what I saw.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the Lord began to speak to me about what he wanted to do in culture and amongst these creatives.

Jasmine Wheeler

And Fast forward moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be a part of mercy culture in 2018, I think it was.

Amber Fugate

Wow.

Jasmine Wheeler

And when I moved here, the Lord began to speak very clearly about how it was time to birth Axel with this house in Fort Worth.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so we birthed it.

Jasmine Wheeler

And basically it's a community of creatives all over the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

In America, we have a couple other nations represented right now as well.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the whole vision of Axel is to equip and empower sons and daughters to advance the kingdom through their creative expression.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so the whole idea is God wants to advance the kingdom through what's in your hands.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we want to equip people to do it.

Jasmine Wheeler

Because if you're called to be in the industry but you're not equipped, you will do what tons of other influencers have done.

Jasmine Wheeler

Where you go into the industry, you get eaten up because it is a very spiritual place place.

Jasmine Wheeler

So if you're not prepared spiritually, you will get eaten up in the industry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And people do it all the time.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then as it happens, then Christians say, see, that's why we don't go into the arts entertainment industry, because people get sucked up into it and they lose their faith.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's like, so either either the gospel doesn't work and the spirit of the Lord isn't actually greater than the spirit that's in the world, or we haven't equipped people to be in these spaces and we just send them out there by themselves, throw them to the wolves, and we don't help them them.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so our passion is to help people, to give them the tools that they need to go and thrive when they're.

Jasmine Wheeler

When they're called to the arts and entertainment industry.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so at this, at this moment, I don't have the exact number in front of me, but I believe it's over.

Jasmine Wheeler

Our influence at this Moment is over 8 million people in reach of the influencers that we are helping building them up.

Amber Fugate

That's amazing.

Jasmine Wheeler

That are actually in the industry, acting, doing different things.

Jasmine Wheeler

So there's a ton of influencers on social media, actors, singers, songwriters that we work with, we walk with, and we're equipping them, giving them the tools that they need to do what they're called to do.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so it's not a super flashy ministry because it's a very underground thing that we feel like we're called to do.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's not secretive, but like we're just called to help people go and influence the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

So we're not trying to be the face, we're trying to help the people that are called to be in those places.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I'm super passionate about it.

Jasmine Wheeler

We do something called the Creatives Intensive once a year, where it's essentially like a creatives conference, if you will.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's just a little more intense.

Jasmine Wheeler

That's why we call it an intensive.

Jasmine Wheeler

You see what I did there?

Jasmine Wheeler

But there's tons of sessions, tons of people who are currently in the industry that come and teach and give away what goes God has done in their life.

Jasmine Wheeler

I love that we just equip people who feel called to.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's usually about 150, 200 creatives that show up.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's limited seating.

Jasmine Wheeler

Our cap is about 200.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we literally just.

Jasmine Wheeler

We just pour into them for about three days straight and then create a.

Jasmine Wheeler

For them to stay connected afterwards.

Jasmine Wheeler

So you know as you're out there that you're not the only one.

Jasmine Wheeler

That you're not Elijah.

Jasmine Wheeler

That's like, I'm the only one out here, Lord.

Jasmine Wheeler

Ain't nobody else.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the Lord's like, actually, there's thousands that haven't bowed there, need to bail.

Jasmine Wheeler

We take joy in showing creatives, you're not the only one that's doing this.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's a ton of others of you.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we want to connect them so they can meet each other.

Amber Fugate

Yes.

Amber Fugate

I absolutely love that it's like discipleship or like creatives intensive discipleship.

Amber Fugate

Because it's not just.

Amber Fugate

It's.

Amber Fugate

It's all.

Amber Fugate

Obviously everything's kingdom based, but then there's also some practicality and sense of, like, doing what you do in that.

Amber Fugate

And because.

Amber Fugate

Because I love that you were saying that, you know, there's different categories in that, where people can learn from the different people, whether that's acting and singing and songwriting and media and film and all.

Amber Fugate

All the different things.

Amber Fugate

And that is honestly kind of unheard of.

Amber Fugate

So that's why I'm like, when I heard that, I was like, whoa, this is different.

Amber Fugate

But it makes sense.

Amber Fugate

After hearing your story of, like, the prophetic word that was over your life and an over axel and how that will, I believe it's just.

Amber Fugate

I think it's just gonna go much higher than you think, and it's going to really cross over, which I think that is probably your heart to go across and pass Texas and everywhere else.

Amber Fugate

And I absolutely love that.

Amber Fugate

That just gets me fired up because it's like, hey, the king, like you said, the gospel works.

Amber Fugate

The kingdom of God is here.

Amber Fugate

It is advancing.

Amber Fugate

Let's go.

Amber Fugate

Let's not sit in our, like, four walls and just tweedle our thumbs and sing how great is our God.

Amber Fugate

Let's actually lead the way.

Amber Fugate

And I like that.

Jasmine Wheeler

Our God is great.

Jasmine Wheeler

Let's go.

Jasmine Wheeler

Actually show it.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

Yes.

Amber Fugate

Actually do it.

Amber Fugate

It's amazing what actual things that we actually do.

Amber Fugate

That's awesome.

Amber Fugate

I will leave some links and all that to anybody who wants to get connected with that because I've been encouraged and I know that as you guys put stuff out, intensive and things like that, I know a lot of people will be really encouraged by that.

Amber Fugate

So keep doing that, man.

Amber Fugate

I love Love that you guys do that so much.

Amber Fugate

So one thing I want to chat about before we end here is your family.

Amber Fugate

I just.

Amber Fugate

I just love your family so much.

Amber Fugate

So Jasmine had a baby boy, Ezra.

Amber Fugate

He is scrumptious.

Amber Fugate

He's so cute.

Amber Fugate

I just cannot.

Amber Fugate

He is just way too cute.

Amber Fugate

He's so precious.

Amber Fugate

And, you know.

Amber Fugate

But obviously, like, you got married.

Jasmine Wheeler

What.

Amber Fugate

What year did you get married?

Jasmine Wheeler

2022.

Jasmine Wheeler

2022.

Amber Fugate

I think it's been a long night.

Amber Fugate

It's election.

Amber Fugate

Yeah, Election week.

Jasmine Wheeler

Where are we?

Jasmine Wheeler

What year is it?

Jasmine Wheeler

I think we got married in 2022.

Amber Fugate

Okay.

Jasmine Wheeler

All right.

Jasmine Wheeler

We're just over the two year mark.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Okay.

Amber Fugate

All right.

Amber Fugate

All right.

Amber Fugate

And then have baby Ezra.

Amber Fugate

And then you guys are in Texas and doing all of that.

Amber Fugate

And I, I again, this story always comes to mind when I was in my kitchen.

Amber Fugate

I told you this already, but I was in my kitchen.

Amber Fugate

The Lord encounters me in the kitchen.

Amber Fugate

I don't know what it is about the kitchen, but the Lord encounters me in the kitchen.

Amber Fugate

He's like, stop what you're doing and just rest.

Amber Fugate

So I'm like, cleaning, mind my own business.

Amber Fugate

And I have worship music playing on Alexa and there's a song and I was like, yes.

Amber Fugate

And I'm just like, stop what I'm doing.

Amber Fugate

I'm worshiping.

Amber Fugate

And then I look on the Alexa because I wanted to, like, save it so I can hear.

Amber Fugate

And it was.

Amber Fugate

It was easy by Mercy Culture featuring Jasmine.

Amber Fugate

I said, oh, my God, it's Jasmine.

Amber Fugate

I was like, I knew I recognized that voice, number one and number two, I was like, shut up, let's go.

Amber Fugate

I just could feel.

Amber Fugate

I don't know.

Amber Fugate

I just, like, loved.

Amber Fugate

And I felt like I miss her so much.

Amber Fugate

And so I loved.

Amber Fugate

So again, I mean, we.

Amber Fugate

I mean, I follow you.

Amber Fugate

I've been following you forever.

Amber Fugate

So I, like, went back on your profile.

Amber Fugate

I'm like, what's she doing?

Amber Fugate

Because, like, she's on my heart now, like, stalking her.

Amber Fugate

And like, she had a baby.

Amber Fugate

She had this.

Amber Fugate

I'm like, what?

Amber Fugate

She had a baby?

Amber Fugate

And then she dropped an album.

Amber Fugate

I don't.

Amber Fugate

I don't know.

Amber Fugate

Like, I need to get my life together if she's having a baby.

Amber Fugate

And then the next day, dropping a song about a baby.

Amber Fugate

All the things I know.

Amber Fugate

Yes.

Amber Fugate

But then when we talked about it, I was like, okay, I get, I get the wrong.

Amber Fugate

But please talk about that song.

Amber Fugate

So it's a song about baby.

Amber Fugate

I want to hear.

Amber Fugate

Yeah, tell us, Tell us.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah, it's called Little Baby I recorded it the summer before I had the baby, so it's not as impressive as it seems.

Jasmine Wheeler

I recorded the year summer before I had the baby.

Jasmine Wheeler

I recorded it and then knew I was supposed to release it right after I had the baby.

Jasmine Wheeler

I timed it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I really.

Jasmine Wheeler

I put it online.

Jasmine Wheeler

Baby K.

Jasmine Wheeler

And no, I wrote the song several years ago.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think I actually started writing the song in 2014, and I finished the song while I was in the studio.

Jasmine Wheeler

I wrote it for a couple that had just adopted a baby in 2014, and they asked me to write a song for the baby they adopted.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I started it and then didn't do much with it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I just sent them the recording of it and kind of kept it moving.

Jasmine Wheeler

And then the summer before I had the baby, the Lord began to speak to me about the song again and said, you know, that he wanted me to finish it.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so the song is.

Jasmine Wheeler

I mean, it is exactly what we're talking about, these kingdom songs.

Jasmine Wheeler

We.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah, we are celebrating.

Jasmine Wheeler

We've celebrated this year, at least I've celebrated this year.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think both of us, all of us, the overturning of Roe v.

Jasmine Wheeler

Wade.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I think that really, it's really beautiful.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's major.

Jasmine Wheeler

However, if we change laws but hearts are not reformed, we don't make.

Jasmine Wheeler

We don't take all of the ground that we could take for the Kingdom.

Jasmine Wheeler

It can't be that there's just laws.

Jasmine Wheeler

But our culturally people don't value life.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I believe that God will give us songs as a generation that disciple people into valuing life and seeing the beauty of being a.

Jasmine Wheeler

Of having babies, of children, you know, and so we're dealing with a generation that doesn't value life right now, across the board, can see it in multiple ways, that doesn't value family or life.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so my greatest joy in having this baby was getting to put motherhood and the beauty of life on display for anybody who listened.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so that was part behind releasing the song is just bringing attention to the beauty of life, the beauty of having children.

Amber Fugate

There's a.

Jasmine Wheeler

There's a line in it that says, I've been thinking.

Jasmine Wheeler

I've been thinking about how my life has changed.

Jasmine Wheeler

I will never be the same now that I have you.

Jasmine Wheeler

I've been thinking about why the world can't see value in a life.

Jasmine Wheeler

We need a little more life in our lives.

Jasmine Wheeler

Just know that the world needs you.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so literally behind the song is like, yeah, you notice that we don't value life, but, like, look at this baby yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Look at this child.

Jasmine Wheeler

Do you really not value life?

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, we need more life in our lives, you know?

Amber Fugate

Right, Absolutely.

Jasmine Wheeler

So, anyway, I'm not trying to preach to the choir, but, like, that was the heart behind that, specifically.

Amber Fugate

Yeah, yeah, no, absolutely.

Amber Fugate

I.

Amber Fugate

I had a.

Amber Fugate

A moment where I was.

Amber Fugate

I don't know, I was at some store, and I was walking back to my car, and I saw a lady who was pregnant.

Amber Fugate

And for whatever reason, I mean, I always see pregnant people because, well, majority of people.

Amber Fugate

There's a lot of people that are pregnant in the world.

Amber Fugate

And I had a flashback moment.

Amber Fugate

The Lord said, do you remember what a baby feels like inside?

Amber Fugate

Because it's been a minute since I've had a baby.

Amber Fugate

Okay, we are done.

Amber Fugate

We have three Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

Amber Fugate

We got the whole trinity.

Amber Fugate

We're good up.

Amber Fugate

And so.

Amber Fugate

And the Lord said, do you remember that?

Amber Fugate

And I thought, like, lord, I don't want any more babies.

Amber Fugate

I don't know if that's what you're trying to tell me.

Amber Fugate

He's like, do you remember feeling actual movement?

Amber Fugate

Like the baby was aware of you, aware of your voice, aware of what was around, Heartbeat, all that.

Amber Fugate

And I just sat in my car and I sobbed.

Amber Fugate

Like, life, life, actual.

Amber Fugate

God knew by name who this baby is and was going to be and will be, and he values and loves them deeply.

Amber Fugate

And I was like, I can't imagine saying, nah, I can't imagine.

Amber Fugate

I just can't imagine that.

Jasmine Wheeler

No, I was.

Jasmine Wheeler

Amber, My husband and I went to see a movie.

Jasmine Wheeler

We had a marriage retreat this past weekend.

Jasmine Wheeler

We went to see a movie on our marriage retreat.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we're.

Jasmine Wheeler

We're just.

Jasmine Wheeler

We're awesome humans.

Jasmine Wheeler

So we went to watch this, like, cartoon movie that just came out, and I think it's called.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't want to say the name of it, because I don't want to put them on blast.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't know.

Jasmine Wheeler

Maybe I should say.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't know.

Jasmine Wheeler

But it was this cartoon movie that just came out.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's called Wild Robot is what it's called.

Amber Fugate

Oh, yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the first 30 minutes to an hour of the movie, my husband and I were appalled because everything in the first 30 minutes to an hour of this movie is literally.

Jasmine Wheeler

It felt morbid the way they were displaying babies in motherhood.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, it was, like, dark.

Jasmine Wheeler

It was.

Jasmine Wheeler

Okay.

Jasmine Wheeler

It was like death, the way that they were displaying or portraying motherhood and family.

Jasmine Wheeler

Family and babies.

Jasmine Wheeler

And eventually they.

Jasmine Wheeler

They, like, said the point.

Jasmine Wheeler

But it, like, took too long to get there to it to where it felt like they sold a lot of seeds that were unnecessary in the people.

Amber Fugate

No.

Jasmine Wheeler

And babies life.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, just the several scenes.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I was like, man, is this where we are as a culture?

Jasmine Wheeler

Because my husband and I are in the real world.

Jasmine Wheeler

We're almost crying because of the way it's portraying children.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I'm listening in the room, and people are laughing at these jokes, and I'm like, maybe we're just.

Jasmine Wheeler

Maybe Connor and I are just a little intense.

Amber Fugate

I don't know.

Jasmine Wheeler

But I felt like.

Jasmine Wheeler

I felt like it was.

Jasmine Wheeler

It was a picture of where our culture is that, like, jokes like that are not funny when people are being told and taught that motherhood is just the worst and it's so horrible, and people wish they didn't have children, and it's just their obligation and just, like, things like that.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I'm like, man, well, this is why.

Jasmine Wheeler

This is why we don't value life.

Jasmine Wheeler

This is why Gen Z doesn't value life, is because there's things like this, again, arts and entertainment that are sowing seeds of how hard motherhood is and how horrible it is.

Jasmine Wheeler

And da, da, da, da.

Jasmine Wheeler

Don't have a baby.

Jasmine Wheeler

Don't be a mom.

Jasmine Wheeler

Don't.

Jasmine Wheeler

Whatever.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's like, no, no, no.

Jasmine Wheeler

This is one of the greatest honors and gifts of life.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

That there ever was.

Jasmine Wheeler

Is to be a mom and carry life in your womb.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's just what it is.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I feel.

Amber Fugate

I don't.

Jasmine Wheeler

I can't think of a greater honor in my life that I've ever felt than to be a mom.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I mean that, like, sincerely.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, just.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's so deep for me, and I just.

Jasmine Wheeler

I love it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I love it.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

Because when you become a mom, really, everything shifts too.

Amber Fugate

You're like, whoa.

Amber Fugate

Your whole worldview.

Amber Fugate

I mean, from the moment they even had your baby, the moment that you had Ezra, your instinct and your heart and your every.

Jasmine Wheeler

Everything changes.

Amber Fugate

Was just, like, drastic, night and day.

Amber Fugate

And it makes you.

Amber Fugate

It's.

Amber Fugate

It really tugs on your heart.

Amber Fugate

Because God is like, saying, I want you to feel that way because this is how much I feel, if not more for you.

Amber Fugate

And there's, like, a beautiful contrast, and it just.

Amber Fugate

I agree.

Amber Fugate

And motherhood is hard.

Amber Fugate

Don't get it twisted, okay?

Amber Fugate

I'm a mom of three.

Amber Fugate

There's hard things.

Amber Fugate

But, yes, it does not outweigh the joy.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah, but people don't enjoy.

Jasmine Wheeler

They only talk about the hard part instead of talking about also the greater joy and the greater honor that it is.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so then people get a bad taste in their mouth, and they just think, okay, well, this isn't important.

Jasmine Wheeler

This isn't valuable.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's just.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's not helpful in the culture.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

To speak to your point about everything changing.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, recently, I've gotten a little bit more involved in the social media space with, like, the political realm and just speaking out about things.

Jasmine Wheeler

And people keep sending me messages, and they're like, what happened?

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, it was like a switch just turned on and you just going off about everything.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, what's going on?

Jasmine Wheeler

Because it literally just shifted.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, as I'm processing it, there's a lot to that story, but one of the main things that has happened is I have a child, and that's it.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

I feel that mama bear in me, like, yeah, like, you.

Jasmine Wheeler

Y'all better stop playing.

Amber Fugate

Y'all better stop playing.

Jasmine Wheeler

Y'all better stop playing.

Jasmine Wheeler

Because the world that I'm going to leave for my son.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, if I have anything to do with it, it will be a better world than what I had to live in and what I had to live in.

Jasmine Wheeler

If I have anything to do with that.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, on my watch.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Right.

Amber Fugate

I'm not.

Jasmine Wheeler

He's not going to grow up and wonder, mom, why didn't you speak up when all the babies were being aborted in your generation?

Jasmine Wheeler

Why didn't you talk about the.

Jasmine Wheeler

The deception that was hitting the black.

Jasmine Wheeler

Black Americans and black Christians in America?

Jasmine Wheeler

Why didn't you speak up when they were letting men be in.

Jasmine Wheeler

Biological men be in bathrooms with women?

Jasmine Wheeler

Why didn't you speak up?

Jasmine Wheeler

And they were giving children puberty blockers and letting little kids make decisions that will forever change their life.

Jasmine Wheeler

And transgenderism.

Jasmine Wheeler

How come you didn't see anything?

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, my child is not going to have to ask that question.

Amber Fugate

That's right.

Jasmine Wheeler

It's that mom that's coming up that's like, nobody's gonna dupe me with the lie that you got to be quiet because you're a worship leader and because you're a pastor and you don't get to speak up for the next generation and speak.

Jasmine Wheeler

No, no, no.

Amber Fugate

Yes, ma'am.

Jasmine Wheeler

I have a child.

Jasmine Wheeler

My greater calling.

Jasmine Wheeler

Before that, I'm a mom.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, the Lord trusted me with a seat with his seed in the earth.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

Right.

Jasmine Wheeler

So anyway, I.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm not.

Jasmine Wheeler

I would love that.

Amber Fugate

No, you're good.

Amber Fugate

I was.

Amber Fugate

This is all extra, so if you're not interested in listening, that's okay.

Amber Fugate

But I just, like, not you, Jasmine.

Amber Fugate

Everyone Else listening.

Amber Fugate

But I was watching a clip the other day, and you're talking about how, like, there is, like, a real fear of you that you feel.

Amber Fugate

Of, like, you doing that, you speaking up.

Amber Fugate

You're like, how is this going to affect my family?

Amber Fugate

And I think about that all the time because it's like, okay, I stand for something and everyone knows it.

Amber Fugate

How does this affect, you know, my kids and my family as we step out into things?

Amber Fugate

You have this fear of, like, what's going to happen to us, in a sense, you know, obviously, people are going to talk, people are going to hate you, unfollow you, all the things, and that is fine.

Amber Fugate

But there is that fear, you know, especially as a mom, you're like, oh, my goodness, I want to protect my kids, but I also don't want to, like, make things worse.

Jasmine Wheeler

Right.

Amber Fugate

You know what I mean?

Amber Fugate

Right.

Amber Fugate

What did you find from that?

Amber Fugate

Like, what was your outcome of, like, okay, you can.

Amber Fugate

You can go as long.

Amber Fugate

I mean, long shirt, whatever you want.

Amber Fugate

I just.

Amber Fugate

This is me wanting to know.

Amber Fugate

This is friend to friend.

Jasmine Wheeler

You get me riled up talking about this.

Jasmine Wheeler

Okay.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think.

Jasmine Wheeler

Oh, Amber.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think I could cry thinking about it.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think.

Jasmine Wheeler

So I had a moment with the Lord a few weeks ago where I was processing that exact thought of just, like, the fears of people and my family.

Jasmine Wheeler

And how is all.

Jasmine Wheeler

How is me speaking up about these things ultimately going to, like, how is it going to affect my immediate temporal world?

Jasmine Wheeler

And I felt like the Lord spoke to me and was like, you can either be quiet and you take protecting your family into your own hands by, like, trying to preserve yourself and to preserve your family.

Jasmine Wheeler

You can either do that and disobey me and not, like, step out and speak out as I'm inviting you to, or you can obey me and do the things that I'm inviting you into and trust me.

Jasmine Wheeler

And when you do that, give me permission to protect your family.

Amber Fugate

Oh, my goodness.

Jasmine Wheeler

Do you trust your family with your hands or with mine?

Jasmine Wheeler

Who better do you want?

Jasmine Wheeler

You know, like, what's your choice?

Jasmine Wheeler

You think you have a better job in your family than me?

Jasmine Wheeler

You pick, you know, and it was just one of those moments where I was like, lord, my shoulders aren't wide enough, My arms aren't long enough to protect my family in my own.

Jasmine Wheeler

In my own strength.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I'm gonna obey you, which in turn allows you to do your part in protecting my family.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so that's just.

Jasmine Wheeler

That's just where I've been.

Jasmine Wheeler

That's just the decision that I made, it reminds me of Esther and Mordecai.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's in Esther 4, I believe, where I believe it's Mordecai talking to Esther.

Jasmine Wheeler

And he said, says.

Jasmine Wheeler

He says, esther, are you aware that, like.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, basically, whether you speak up or not, like, this is going to come for your family too at some point?

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

You think that if you're quiet that you're going to protect your family.

Jasmine Wheeler

But do you know that we're like, whether you speak up or not, this is going to knock at your door.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so the.

Jasmine Wheeler

Her response of this, the line we all love of if I perish, I perish is saying, like, okay, like, I can either speak up and lose everything or be quiet and lose everything anyway.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

Right.

Amber Fugate

You know what I'm saying?

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

That's just your option.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

So I'm just in this vein right now where I'm like, man, Lord, like, I'm going to speak up when you tell me to say something and you highlight something and you show me an injustice somewhere.

Jasmine Wheeler

When you show me a mountain that needs to be leveled, a valley that needs to be leveled.

Jasmine Wheeler

Isaiah, I believe it's Isaiah 43, where they talk about.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it talks about it in John as well, preparing the way for the Lord.

Jasmine Wheeler

And what used to happen back in the day is when a king was coming into a new territory, a new place, there were people that went before the king who would have to literally level out mountains and valleys so that the king didn't have any problems coming into a new territory, so that it was just.

Jasmine Wheeler

It was easy for the king to come in.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so when I was praying at the top of the year about all this stuff, I'm like, lord, what do you want me to do?

Jasmine Wheeler

Do you want me to speak up?

Jasmine Wheeler

Not like, what do you want me to do?

Jasmine Wheeler

And I felt like he was saying, your only assignment is to talk to the mountains and to talk to the valleys.

Jasmine Wheeler

When I show you a mountain that needs to be leveled so I can come in, you talk to it.

Amber Fugate

That's so good.

Jasmine Wheeler

When I show you a valley that needs to be leveled, you talk to it.

Jasmine Wheeler

You don't got to talk to everything that everybody's talking to, but when I show you a mountain, you better speak.

Amber Fugate

That's so good.

Jasmine Wheeler

That's been my assignment.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I don't.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't comment on everybody's everything.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't try to talk about everything happening in culture.

Jasmine Wheeler

But when I'm sitting in my room and I'm Scrolling.

Jasmine Wheeler

And something just starts to go off for me.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm like, okay, I gotta say something about this.

Jasmine Wheeler

I have to speak here.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

So I just been trying to be obedient to that.

Jasmine Wheeler

But the truth is, it's costing us right now on a temporal level.

Jasmine Wheeler

The most that it's costing is a few angry comments and messages and some awkward conversations with family members and maybe some family members that won't talk to me the same as they used to because of where I stand on things.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah, we're not in an hour where it costs us our life.

Amber Fugate

Like, yeah, we're not there.

Jasmine Wheeler

And, like, mean comments is that.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's just not right.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so as I started to speak out and talk about stuff, the first wave of hard comments has been family and friends that, that have known me the most in high school and in college that are shocked.

Jasmine Wheeler

Those are the worst messages that I'm getting.

Jasmine Wheeler

Everything else after that, when people share it and it gets.

Jasmine Wheeler

The people that don't, don't know me from a can of paint, I don't care what they see.

Jasmine Wheeler

They know me from campaign.

Jasmine Wheeler

I don't care.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, like, you know, it doesn't, it doesn't sting.

Jasmine Wheeler

The thing that stings the most is just that first layer of friends and family that disagree.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I can deal with that if it means more people being free, more people being truth being revealed to people.

Jasmine Wheeler

Like, the number of messages that I get from people saying, thank you for saying this.

Jasmine Wheeler

I needed to hear this, or I never knew this.

Jasmine Wheeler

This just changed my whole perspective.

Jasmine Wheeler

The number for every one mean angry message I get, I get like 5 to 10 messages from people saying, thank you so much.

Jasmine Wheeler

And it's yes.

Amber Fugate

Yeah.

Amber Fugate

And it definitely has been impactful.

Amber Fugate

Like, I will say, I know that I know you.

Amber Fugate

I know your heart.

Amber Fugate

Even if you said something, I was like, but I don't say anything like that.

Amber Fugate

But when you say stuff, people listen because.

Amber Fugate

And it's just like a requestioning.

Amber Fugate

Like, I love how you, when you do those videos, you're like, okay, so this is what happened.

Amber Fugate

Let's look at that for a minute.

Amber Fugate

Like, you, you know, you're not just giving us the.

Amber Fugate

Well, I think that, that, that, that you're like, this is a situation.

Amber Fugate

Think about that for a minute.

Amber Fugate

Does that make sense?

Amber Fugate

And it helps people process.

Amber Fugate

At least it's helped me process.

Amber Fugate

And I've just been super, super help or thankful for your outspokenness.

Amber Fugate

And I know.

Amber Fugate

And people like you and people that I follow and people that I'm in relationship with, like, I pray for you because people like that and I know it is a cost.

Amber Fugate

I know that this is hard for you in a sense of like, it's easy for you to send it because you want to be obedient to the Lord, but it's hard internally in your mind and your heart, dealing with everything coming at you left and right.

Amber Fugate

And so I just like, like, I honor you for doing that.

Amber Fugate

And I'm super thankful that you are definitely a voice, a John the Baptist, in a sense, a voice out saying, let's prepare the way.

Amber Fugate

Let's make the road flat so the kingdom or so the king can come in for a clean and pure bride.

Amber Fugate

And so thank you for doing that, but I know how hard that must be.

Amber Fugate

And I'm just praying for you and your family and Landon and Heather and all you guys.

Amber Fugate

I just really, really appreciate how you guys have just been.

Amber Fugate

And just you speak and you speak truth and you stand for truth, and I, like, really, really appreciate that.

Amber Fugate

And I appreciate you being vulnerable right now with that.

Amber Fugate

I know that's like your vulnerable person.

Amber Fugate

You'll talk about stuff, but, you know, it's been an interesting year in a sense.

Amber Fugate

You know, election year, all the things.

Amber Fugate

And there's a lot of stuff happening, a lot of at stake.

Amber Fugate

And I'm just super thankful that you are doing just that.

Amber Fugate

You're letting God take care of your family.

Amber Fugate

You're letting God be the one whose hands are on it.

Amber Fugate

And that is such an encouragement to me as well.

Amber Fugate

Like, okay, I need to remember that it's not in my hands, it's not what I can do, but it is in what God can do.

Amber Fugate

And so thank you so much for doing that.

Amber Fugate

Well, on my notes, we didn't even.

Amber Fugate

We didn't do any of that, which is fine.

Amber Fugate

And I'm so thankful for it because again, I know.

Amber Fugate

Get out of here.

Amber Fugate

This is just a table to table talk, face to face talk that I like to have with people who I really honor and trust and I want to grow from.

Amber Fugate

And I know that it has helped.

Amber Fugate

This conversation has helped lots and lots of people and has inspired me and I'm going to listen back to it many, many times.

Amber Fugate

But to end our time, I would love if you would pray for us.

Amber Fugate

Us.

Amber Fugate

Yes, you can.

Amber Fugate

We talked about so many different things, but honestly, like, whatever you feel led to pray.

Amber Fugate

I mean, we talked.

Amber Fugate

We talked about a lot.

Amber Fugate

But you know, in the, in, in the day that we're in, you know, the day after the election, and everything kind of like, okay, where we.

Amber Fugate

Where are we going?

Amber Fugate

Okay, now what do we do?

Amber Fugate

I know that our world most needs just peace and just unity.

Amber Fugate

And so anyways, I would love if you just pray on anything that you feel led, but pray for those who are listen, and then we'll end our time there.

Jasmine Wheeler

Yeah.

Jasmine Wheeler

Well, Lord, thank you for every person listening to this podcast.

Jasmine Wheeler

Thank you for any way, in every way that you have ministered to people, any and every way that you have spoke to people and that you have revealed yourself to them in a new way.

Jasmine Wheeler

I just pray that what you've done in my life that you would do in their life.

Jasmine Wheeler

I'm specifically thinking of and referring to the scripture, my Life Scripture, Ephesians 5:10, to find out what pleases the Lord.

Jasmine Wheeler

Lord, I prayed that you would give them grace, the empowerment that only comes by your spirit to find out what's pleasing to you, whether it's in the political realm, whether it's on social media, whether it's in arts and entertainment, it's the things, the gifts that you put in their hands, whatever it is, Lord, I just pray that you give them grace, give them a passion, give them obsession to find out what's pleasing to you in every area of their life.

Jasmine Wheeler

Lord, I pray that you would speak to them so clearly.

Jasmine Wheeler

I pray for dreams in the night, for visions in the day, that you would show them what it looks like for them to walk in boldness with you in this season, whether it's stepping out in songs and film and acting in fashion, or whether it's speaking up on social media, I pray that you would show them and teach them that boldness is pleasing to you.

Jasmine Wheeler

I pray for an impartial sense of boldness to even go through this, this, this the speakers right now as we pray.

Jasmine Wheeler

No matter when they're listening, no matter where they're listening, in their car, in their house, in the kitchen, I pray for boldness to rest on them, even right now.

Jasmine Wheeler

And I pray that the prayer that I feel like is what we carry as a house, as mercy, culture, church.

Jasmine Wheeler

Lord, I just declare the ease of heaven over them.

Jasmine Wheeler

Your word says that your yoke is easy and that your burden is light.

Jasmine Wheeler

Even hard things become easy in your presence.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so I just pray that you would the revelation of your yoke being easy, that if they're yoking with their own efforts, if they're yoking with some other idolatry, some other motive, that.

Jasmine Wheeler

That it's hard.

Jasmine Wheeler

But I just pray that you would show them that when they yoke themselves with you, just finding out what's pleasing to you, just doing it with you, that it's easy.

Jasmine Wheeler

And the Lord, I just pray over them, no spirit is welcome.

Jasmine Wheeler

But the Holy Spirit, yes, speaks fear, the spirit of fear, the spirit of anxiety, that foul spirit that may be trying to rest on people as a result of elections, as a result of what's happening in culture, what's happening in the world.

Jasmine Wheeler

I just command fear to go.

Jasmine Wheeler

I pray for the peace of God to rest on your people.

Jasmine Wheeler

I pray for supernatural rest to rest on your people.

Jasmine Wheeler

I pray for hope and faith and love to be.

Jasmine Wheeler

To fill your people even as they listen right now.

Jasmine Wheeler

I pray that even as they turn this podcast off, that they will find themselves full of hope in a way that they haven't been in years and in months.

Jasmine Wheeler

Lord, I pray that you would fill your people with faith, hope and love.

Jasmine Wheeler

And so, Jesus, we love you.

Jasmine Wheeler

Thank you, Jesus.

Jasmine Wheeler

And we just say, you can have your glory.

Jasmine Wheeler

Come get your glory in our lives.

Jasmine Wheeler

You deserve all the glory that's due to you.

Jasmine Wheeler

Come get what you're.

Jasmine Wheeler

What you're deserving of in our lives.

Jasmine Wheeler

So we love you, Jesus.

Jasmine Wheeler

Name.

Jasmine Wheeler

Amen.

Amber Fugate

Amen.

Amber Fugate

Amen.

Amber Fugate

Amen.

Amber Fugate

Thank you so much, Jasmine.

Amber Fugate

This, yeah, this whole conversation was amazing.

Amber Fugate

And I just am so encouraged and inspired, but drawn, which is the whole point of this podcast, is I'm drawn to the center and the why of why we worship.

Amber Fugate

And that's Jesus.

Amber Fugate

I just wanna now, it's just like after I leave this podcast room, I just wanna now sit at his feet.

Amber Fugate

I just wanna receive what he wants me to do.

Amber Fugate

And in that boldness and alignment, that is the whole point of this podcast.

Amber Fugate

It's not even like all the different topics.

Amber Fugate

It's like, how are we gonna draw you back to the feet of Jesus, Jesus over and over and over again.

Amber Fugate

So thank you.

Amber Fugate

Thank you so much, friend.

Amber Fugate

I love you so much.

Amber Fugate

Jasmine Wheeler

Austin, seven.

Jasmine Wheeler

I think it's seven.

Jasmine Wheeler

Amber Fugate

Well, if you go to Texas, you can't.

Jasmine Wheeler

I mean, there's no excuse.

Amber Fugate

There's seven campuses.

Amber Fugate

Amber Fugate

Holy reverence, fomo.

Amber Fugate

Okay.

Amber Fugate

Just watching, I'm just like, oh, my gosh.

Amber Fugate

And one thing that I've actually kind of adapted from mercy culture is one thing I say in our house often is fear, go, Holy Spirit, come.

Amber Fugate

Fear, go, Holy Spirit, come.

Amber Fugate

I know that's like a, you know, Bible, but you guys say it often.

Amber Fugate

And I just, like, love watching all you.

Amber Fugate

Your videos and photos.

Amber Fugate

And I love Landon.

Amber Fugate

He says it's like this every week.

Amber Fugate

It's fire every week.

Amber Fugate

There's not a week where the Holy Spirit isn't moving.

Amber Fugate
