There's so many factors that contribute to your skin aging.
Speaker:A lot of women present into clinic at the age of 50. That's 10, 20 years
Speaker:of sun damage, poor diet, high alcohol intake, bad
Speaker:sleep. I want you to start thinking about what you've put yourself through
Speaker:over the last few decades. Why do we recommend a vitamin C?
Speaker:Vitamin C is an antioxidant and it will strengthen the
Speaker:skin, helps regenerate skin cells. And this is the real
Speaker:beauty of vitamin C. It is a tyrannoside inhibitor. What does
Speaker:that mean? We wanna make sure that you're looking after your skin,
Speaker:but you're also understanding how your skin is aging in
Speaker:all the different layers. Welcome to the Holistic Skin
Speaker:Guru, where what's on the surface is just as important as
Speaker:what's underneath. I'm your host, Aamena. Let's dive deep
Speaker:into the world of holistic skincare. Welcome
Speaker:to our very first session of Skin School. In
Speaker:this episode, we're going to try to explain the
Speaker:health of skin to you so you can start making very
Speaker:informed and educated decisions around your skin. So
Speaker:what is the health of your skin? The health of your skin is
Speaker:the subcutaneous tissue, the suborbital fat
Speaker:under the eye. That's what makes us look more youthful. And
Speaker:as you get older, the buccal fat pads are what
Speaker:makes us look really, really youthful. So, you know,
Speaker:when we're looking at our skin, we're not just looking at
Speaker:Is the skin looking bright? Is it looking even? Is
Speaker:it looking flawless? Those are things
Speaker:that we do look at, but we're also looking at the total health of
Speaker:the skin. Is the skin looking plump
Speaker:and healthy and gorgeous, or is it looking gaunt and
Speaker:grey and dull? So this is very important about
Speaker:looking well and looking healthy and radiating that
Speaker:youth. A lot of people come in and the first thing they say is,
Speaker:I hate my jowls. You know, they're sagging and I want to lift them.
Speaker:And so they talk about haifu and they talk about lifting treatments,
Speaker:but no one's really discussing what is actually happening
Speaker:in the skin. You know, how are we aging? How's that
Speaker:skin aging? And what can we do to prevent that? Because
Speaker:prevention is better than cure. I mean, you can spend thousands and thousands of
Speaker:dollars on lifting treatments, But isn't it better to
Speaker:just prevent that from happening right from the get-go? And a
Speaker:lot of our lifting treatments can only lift
Speaker:the skin in small increments. And so if
Speaker:you really leave it to the last minute, so you're in your 50s
Speaker:or late 50s or early 60s and you've got a lot of sag in your
Speaker:jowl area, Haifu might give you a little bit of a
Speaker:lift, but the truth is you're going to have to have surgery. So we
Speaker:don't want to get to that point. We want to make sure that you're looking after
Speaker:your skin, but you're also understanding how your
Speaker:skin is aging in all the different layers. So it's
Speaker:not just the skin on the surface. It's not just the dermal layers. It's
Speaker:also the muscle. It's also your bone that's aging
Speaker:and your fascia, and that's sagging that
Speaker:sagging is happening like a sack because our collagen is
Speaker:reducing each year from the age of 20. We're reducing our
Speaker:collagen production naturally by 1%. So, you
Speaker:know, by the time you're 30, that's 10%, 40, that's 20%, 50, that's 30% and so on. So
Speaker:we really have to look at where that volume loss
Speaker:is coming from and what's going on in our skin. You know, are
Speaker:you drinking enough milk? Do you have enough calcium in your body? Are
Speaker:you eating products
Speaker:or is your diet high in collagen? A
Speaker:lot of people eat chicken's feet and I know it's not for everyone, but
Speaker:it is very, very high in collagen. Or are you taking a
Speaker:collagen supplement? Are you taking the correct collagen supplement?
Speaker:you know, is it a hydrolyzed collagen? Because the collagen molecule
Speaker:is quite large and you can't just take collagen. That's why there's
Speaker:so many studies out there that say collagen doesn't work because people are
Speaker:taking the wrong kind of collagen. It needs to
Speaker:be a hydrolyzed collagen because those proteins are
Speaker:broken down into smaller fractions that
Speaker:the body is able to then take in and
Speaker:that's where you get your collagen increase
Speaker:from. The volume loss in areas in your face
Speaker:are contributing to the sagging in the jowls. And so
Speaker:this is why I'm really reluctant to just spot treat in
Speaker:my clinic. You know, a lot of people will come in and say, oh, you
Speaker:know, I'm getting a bit of sag in my cheek area or whatever, and
Speaker:they just want to treat this area. But many times if
Speaker:we're treating up here and we're lifting and we're lifting,
Speaker:all of this tends to lift as well. And so I like to
Speaker:treat the face as a whole. I'm not a fan
Speaker:of treating just symptoms. And then
Speaker:as a holistic skin therapist, I'm gonna ask, and my team's gonna ask
Speaker:a lot of questions about your lifestyle, about how
Speaker:you're looking after your skin and what you're doing at home, because the
Speaker:treatment is only 30% of your results. What you do
Speaker:at home is 70% of your results. We can give
Speaker:you that power punch with our treatment, and then you maintain at
Speaker:home what we've done until we see you for
Speaker:your next visit. So treating the
Speaker:face as a whole is a very big thing for us. We also
Speaker:have thought about how long, you know, have you thought
Speaker:about how long it's taken your skin to get to this point?
Speaker:A lot of women present into clinic at the age of 50, 55, 60. So
Speaker:that's 10, 20 years of maybe sun damage, maybe
Speaker:bad poor diet, high alcohol intake,
Speaker:bad sleep. You know, there's so many factors that
Speaker:contribute to your skin aging that
Speaker:we can't realistically push that
Speaker:much in one session. So I want you to start
Speaker:thinking about what you've put yourself through over the last few decades
Speaker:and then come to us and let's have a very honest discussion about
Speaker:how we can bring you forward. and give you the results that
Speaker:you want. And in most cases, we need to do a
Speaker:range of treatments. You know, we might need to do one
Speaker:SQT treatment, followed by a Haifu Glow, followed
Speaker:by a knee lifting treatment with some buckle massage. And then
Speaker:we need to correct your skin care and put you on a collagen supplement. And
Speaker:so this is not all about just, you know, making money out of you because a
Speaker:lot of people think, oh, she's just trying to sell me stuff. No, we actually
Speaker:are looking at your circumstances and we're looking at the
Speaker:right sort of treatments to make sure that you
Speaker:actually get a result and your results can happen in
Speaker:a really natural way. Because if you're not going to go for the
Speaker:filler and the injectable route, The holistic way
Speaker:to treat is going to be a little bit slower, but it
Speaker:will be a lot more beneficial to you and your skin overall. So
Speaker:aftercare, we can all agree that nobody
Speaker:thinks that they can go to the gym once and
Speaker:eat McDonald's and have an amazing body. That would be
Speaker:completely unrealistic. In the same vein, we want
Speaker:you to start thinking about your skin in that way. We want to
Speaker:give you that power punch that you would get in the gym for your face. then
Speaker:you have to go home and use the correct skincare on your skin
Speaker:to make sure that it is actually benefiting your skin and
Speaker:that your skin is actually working in synergy with your home
Speaker:care. So professional skin analysis to help you
Speaker:understand your skin, your lifestyle, environmental stresses
Speaker:that you put your skin through daily, this will all help us as
Speaker:a skin therapist to find the best solution for your skin. If
Speaker:you're over 30 and you've started incorporating a
Speaker:vitamin C into your daily skin regimen, then good for you
Speaker:because we need to see everybody from the age of
Speaker:30 starting to use a really, really
Speaker:good vitamin C on their skin, something clinical,
Speaker:something prescribed. that will actually start to
Speaker:help the skin regenerate because you see a vitamin
Speaker:C is actually an antioxidant and
Speaker:it will help restructure the skin. And
Speaker:if you're using a vitamin C during the day, well done. You
Speaker:need to also be incorporating a vitamin A in your nighttime regimen
Speaker:because vitamin A derivatives or retinols, I love
Speaker:them because as I've explained in a previous video about retinols, and
Speaker:I'll pop the links below about how you can use a retinol,
Speaker:but the reason I love retinols is because they work
Speaker:really well in synergy with the vitamin C. So you use the vitamin C
Speaker:during the day, you use a retinol at night, and the two of them work
Speaker:really well together to regenerate your skin cells, turn
Speaker:over the skin cells and really give you a much more youthful
Speaker:and glowy complexion. Now, why do we recommend a vitamin C?
Speaker:Well, because vitamin C is an antioxidant and
Speaker:it will strengthen the skin. Vitamin C helps regenerate
Speaker:skin cells and It will also lighten any dark
Speaker:spots on the skin. And this is the real beauty of vitamin C.
Speaker:It is a tyrenicide inhibitor. What does that mean? Tyrenicides
Speaker:are enzymes in the skin. that act like the glue that
Speaker:helps the melanocytes to clump together. And vitamin
Speaker:C blocks these enzymes from helping the pigmentation
Speaker:to form. So this is why vitamin C is so key
Speaker:as a skin health ingredient, especially for skin clarity,
Speaker:even skin tone and reducing further pigmentation and
Speaker:damage. The consistent use of vitamin A
Speaker:will also help to turn over the skin cells and will help
Speaker:the skin regeneration. And vitamin A
Speaker:is also an antioxidant, just like vitamin C. It's going to
Speaker:transform your skin, helping to improve your skin's texture
Speaker:and overall clarity. So you can see that, you
Speaker:know, these two ingredients, very simple ingredients,
Speaker:are a power punch when used correctly and used
Speaker:with professional guidance. So hey guys, we've
