Every single effect in your life, your bank account, your relationship, your body, your business, the way you feel when you wake up on a Tuesday morning, can all be traced back to a decision. Not the decision you think you made is the decision that you keep on making or that you have stopped making. Because here's what nobody
Tells us about decisions. Making it once is not enough. And so today we talk about decisions. Welcome to CEO Mindset, episode 13. My name is Manuel Epani. My friends call me E. Let's get into it. So I'm sitting here in Sardinia still, and this was a decision.
Three years ago, I was here for a month and I made the decision that this was gonna be my life, that I was gonna spend four months here every summer. And as the time is coming to an end, I've been spending more and more time thinking about what the decision has meant for me and the importance of decisions in general.
And in episode four, we talked about the three D's desire, decision, and discipline. And what I share with you guys is that concept that discipline is the partner to your decision making in the pursuit of your desires. But here's one of the things that I've been thinking about that I didn't share in that episode.
And it's something that I understood more deeply as I look back on my decisions, the one that got me to stay here this long. And in general, what I noticed through
Through my coaching calls, through watching people make the right choice.
And then wonder why nothing happens. Because a lot of people make right choices. Maybe you have made some right choices. And you're like, E, why is it not working out for me? And the thing is this, a decision
It's not a moment, it cannot be a singular blip in your life. It's a commitment that you get to keep making every day. But I tell you even more about
It gets to be made with the same energy, the same spirit, the same conviction that you made the decision in in the first place.
And most people
make a decision once when they feel good and then maybe they keep on making the action but their mind is not behind them. And so you're going through the motion of things without faith and belief.
Because if you make a decision just once and then wait
When the results don't come fast enough, when the scale doesn't move, when the clients don't sign up, when your business doesn't blow up overnight.
They might assume that they made the wrong decision.
And it wasn't the wrong decision. It's just that they stopped making it in the same way. They stopped making it with the same energy, conviction, and spirit. And so, you guys know I love analogies. And so let's talk about an analogy that might help you solidify this concept. When you plant a seed, you
Don't plant it once and walk away. You water it every day with the same intention, the same belief, the same expectation that something is growing even when you can see it yet. And a decision is a seed. And every morning you wake up, you get to
recommit to it with the same energy.
you had when you first made it.
And that is what watering the seed of your decisions look like. And the results will come as long as you keep deciding. And the more faith you have as you make the decisions day to day, the quicker your decision is going to solidify into reality.
Now I want to introduce you guys to the thing that will talk you out of every decision that could change your life. And it's not
It's not one of the common enemies. What I mean by common enemies is not what you think. It is not your fear. It is not your circumstances. It is not the economy or your past or the people around.
It's your logic. And I know that sounds backwards. You're like, Eee, logic is supposed to be my ally. Logic is supposed to help me make better decisions.
And here's my truth about logic from my own personal experiences and seeing it with other people.
Your logic is built from your past, your habits.
And your habits are built on your identity, and your identity is built from your story. Which means that your current logic will always make a convincing case.
for staying exactly where you are. Your logic will tell you
Be intellectually honest with yourself as I l as I list this things that your logic are gonna tell you. Has your logic done this to you?
Timing just isn't right.
We don't have enough money
We need more information. Definitely. We definitely need more information.
We have enough information, but we're not prepared enough yet. We gotta be more prepared.
The this deal looks great, but the market is so uncertain.
What what if this doesn't work? Like I know we're prepared, I know we have the information, but what what if it doesn't work?
Has your logic done any of this to you?
'Cause every single one of those thoughts will feel completely reasonable and solid and correct. Because they are reasonable to the version of you that exists right now. But here is what I would love for you to contemplate and understand.
The decision that could create, that would create a new version of you, a new identity, a new standard, a new life, those decisions will never
never make sense to the old version of
Because your paradigm, as Bob Proctor teaches us, is always going to protect itself. And your logic is one of its most powerful and sneaky weapons. So when you feel logically talked out of a decision that your gut
Your intuition, your soul is pulling you towards.
Please understand that that is not wisdom.
That is your identity.
protecting his territory.
And the CEO version of you doesn't make decisions based on current logic, which is grounded in old facts. The CEO version of you makes decisions based on what you want. And the future version of you.
And so let's talk about CEO decision making. Like what does a CEO level decision making actually look like from the inside? And I've been thinking a lot about this getting ready to record this show because I've realized that I've made decisions and I still make decisions from both places. From
Fear and from fate. And I know what both feel like. And so what I've come up with is that the CEO decision has four characteristics. Number one.
A CEO decision it's always going to be based in facts and no stories.
Not what
What does this mean about me? Or what will people think? Or what if I fail? Just the facts. What do I know to be true?
What do I actually have in front of me?
And always going back to the facts, not the stories and all the feelings. Number two, it comes with intellectual integrity, which is something that I already hinted to earlier in the show. Meaning you are honest about your own share of the situation. You're not a victim.
you have extreme ownership. If the result isn't there, you ask what part of it is yours.
What decision did I make or didn't make that led to this effect?
And again, with intellectual integrity. Don't fool yourself.
Number three.
A CEO decision is always aligned with long-term vision versus short-term comfort. The decision that feels hardest right now is almost always the one that serves your future the most.
And the decision that feels easiest right now is always the one that keeps you exactly where you are.
And the fourth and final one is the fact that a CEO's mindset, a CEO decision making, is always grounded in faith and not fear.
What do those two things look like, E? Well, fear asks, what if this doesn't work? Faith asks, what if this is exactly what I need to do? Fear decides based on current situation. Faith decides based on who you're becoming. And here's the thing about
My own life.
that you might resonate with. The decision that changed everything, we're never comfortable. Getting healthy, not comfortable, betting on myself, terrifying. Still is.
Going to therapy my first times. Really vulnerable and yet.
So
Powerful.
leaving partnerships and platforms and companies that I was very secure and felt significant in to pursue the thing that my soul calls to.
Every logical voice in my head always said no. And every single one of those decisions were right. Because as I started the show, I couldn't be here living this piece of my dream life if those decisions weren't right.
And please understand that it's never because they felt right in the moment, but is because they came from vision, from intuition, from faith.
Because they came from who I was becoming.
And not who I was.
Before we close, I want to give you our reframe. And I want to give you something that will change hopefully if you entertain it.
Your relationship with decisions.
Forever.
And that is that concept that
There are no wrong decisions.
Let me say that again. Because I know some of you are thinking about a decision you made, maybe recently, maybe years ago, that you have been calling a mistake.
There are no wrong decisions. They are only right decisions that were right for the version of you that made them.
Think about it. Every decision you have ever made, you made it with the information you had, with the identity you had, with the story you were living, the wounds that you were carrying, the paradigm that was running, and the version of you made.
The best decision that they could based on what was important for you in that moment. What you felt needed to be protected and preserved. What you felt would
Subconsciously keep you the safest. And the problem isn't the decision. The problem is what we do after, which is judge the decision solely based by the outcome. Instead.
The second reframe. What if you took the outcome of your decision not as a verdict but as feedback?
What if you start saying to yourself, not that this decision was wrong, but start asking yourself, what is this result telling me?
Did the facts that I thought I was working from actually hold up?
Is this still what I want?
Do I know now that
Something that I didn't know then.
Did the thing, I showed up, and now I have feedback and now I'm like, Okay, cool. I have a new piece of information that changes my future decision.
And what decision does the new me get to make from here?
Because here is the s'o.
You are never stuck with a decision. You can always make a new one. And the CEO doesn't look back at old decisions with judgment and regret.
The CEO looks back with intellectual integrity, takes the feedback and makes a better decision today.
And then it's ready for the feedback that comes from it tomorrow.
And here's where we're going next week. Because every decision you make is filtered through something first.
Something invisible, something running in the background that you probably didn't choose and may not even know is there. And that something is meaning. The meaning you give to your circumstances, the meaning you give to yourself, the meaning that you gave to previous events that happen in your life.
Because the truth that I know is that if you change the meaning, you can change the decision. And if you can change the ch the decision, you can change everything else. And so that's where we're going next week.
So this week, one thing. As always, I'd love to leave you guys with something to do. Look at an area of your life where you feel stuck. And ask yourself honestly, once again with intellectual integrity, what decisions have I made that got me here? Not the decisions you told everyone you made, the decision you actually been making every single day with your actions.
The quiet ones, the real one. Because your real decisions, it's never what you say to other people, what you say in a community, what you say online, what you say to your friends. It's always what you do. And then ask yourself: Is this the CEO version of that decision? Is this what CEO me?
would have done.
Or is this the old story? My old version? And if it is the old story, you know what to do. Make a new one. Today.
And then again tomorrow. Then again after that. And then again after that. And so before I let you go.
If this episode landed for you, or any of the other ones, and if something in it moves something in you, I would love to ask you for one thing. Go to whatever platform you listen to this on and leave a review. Say whatever you want to say. We are
We're building something together and I love for more people to find the show and for more people to get help and become the CEO of their life. Because what I know is the more people I'm able to impact with this show.
The more that ripple is gonna spread. And so if this has been in service of you up until now, I would love for you to leave a review or share this with a friend. Or if you're feeling so generous to do both, I would appreciate both. And so to close, every great life you ever admired was built one decision at a time.
One
Decision is that.
And not a perfect decision. It's just one committed decision made again and again until reality had no choice but to catch up. You are the CEO of your life, and the CEO is always deciding, not from fear, not from logic.
Not from
The story that has created everything around you and that has kept you safe, small but certain about your surrounding. But from vision, from faith, from the version of you that already exists on the other side of the decision, you've been avoiding.
And so today make it and then keep making it.
Ciao guys.
