Njabulo James:

This is NJ, the host of the NGA podcast. And this is 5.5 days. This is part of the everyday series where we share insights and inspiration and the format of five different points that are related to a topic that can add value to you. Fridays is a good time to. Sit back, relax and meditate on these topics because you're winding down from busy week or you're getting ready to start grinding over the weekend. Fridays is a great time to start thinking about this. And on today's episode, we're going to talk about educate yourself. Bye. Coins to educate yourself. Education is the passport to the future for the future for tomorrow, belongs to those who prepare for ads today. Set brother Malcolm X. There are two different things when it comes to education. Um, when I most important aspects of you being well, and you focusing on you, improving your mind is that of education and. There are two different types of education that you can get. I mean, my dad said to me that the greatest sin that you can commit against another person is to deny that person in education. And I talking about school and I'm not talking about university, I'm talking about education. I'm teaching them how to learn and teaching them how to think critically for themselves. Right. Two types of education and honestly believe a second type of education is most valuable. The first type of education is formal education, and this is the form. The most common form of it is the lessons you receive from form institutions, such as schools and universities, uh, develop all your basic academic abilities, such as reading, writing, solving mathematical problems and developing content skills. This also this form of education also. Trays you for vocations that require a specialized skillset, doctors, lawyers, consultants, accountants, and other professions. There are debates around the importance and relevance of form education, critical critics, point to Richard Branson and Steve jobs as examples of Maine. Dropped out did were massively successful. They made ends up being lost, suited for formal education, but they did not pursue vocations that required specialized form of obtaining a sub-four specialized form training because Steve jobs, once you present in a certain need them sometimes former education. Or overly emphasized and people equate success with having more degrees. That the moment I have a, this is not always the case. A formal education may not be everything, but it remains a valuable process that teaches you to think on a par apply your knowledge, or it should teach you how to think and to apply your knowledge. The second type of education is self-education. If you work hard on yourself, you will make yourself a living. If you work harder on yourself, you'll make yourself a fortune. You say that again. If you work hard on your job, you will make yourself a living. If you work hard on yourself, you will make yourself a fortune. And this was. Advice given to Jim Rowan that prompted his decision to turn his life around at age 25 and consequently change the lives of millions of others. Self-education derives from your own research and impact and your higher gut values and pursuit of personal development, many thoughts, concepts, and ideas. You will learn only in the school of hard knocks outside the environment or formulation. Self-education comes from, uh, reading books, attending focus, seminars and webinars and education applications. The best form of a TA ever is practical application. You may read about managing difficult people, but unless you actively deal with difficult people, you won't properly understand the dynamics of the lessons. South education is a great way to empower you to make a fortune. And here are some five places that you can go to educate yourself because self-education will make you a fortune. The first point is blogs, specialized blogs. If you want to learn, I sent him the skill, a certain skill sets, or you went to increase your knowledge of a certain area. Go on the internet and look up the best blogs that are related to that specific, um, uh, field of endeavor. Aaron, the Huffington post is very good for good information. I know for personal personal development perspective, there is a blog called life hack. Um, which is very great with terms of person personal developments and practical application. And also there's another blog called mind tools, which is actually quite fantastic. So look at whatever blogs out there, the top bloggers in your field that you want to learn about read after them. And they will greatly educate you in ways that you may not get that specialized information elsewhere. The second place that you can look for is books. Dodes and estimate the value of reading books. Think about it this way. Warren buffet read six hours a day. And you, and you created his fortune by reading specialized financial information, such as your financial, your financial reports. JK Rowling became a billionaire by writing books at Jeff Bezos became the richest man in the world, starting out by selling books. So don't under estimate the value. Books read books that will enrich you. That will also inspire you and read basic material, easy to read material. And if you want to become more specialized and more of an expert read the more dense material read the books. Books have saved. Many people and books have educated. Many people. If you. And he said he doesn't have a foster degree in aeronautics. However, he reads so many books and has people around him who are qualified and guess what they read. They read all the books as well. So get started on your library. It's just having a number of books around you will make you very. We'll make you feel very smart as well. So just go get out there and read all the books that you can. The third one is what you are listening to right now. Thank you very much. And it is podcasts and podcasts. If he could meet him, some people say this is the new blogging and podcasts are very important because they share information that you previously would never have had access to before. Um, uh, podcasts such as the Joe Rogan experience would, uh, have not been, uh, been possible back in the day. For example, think of. And long form interviews would going on. I've got them off cable, TV, or DST or whatever previous cable TV was there. But if you listen to podcasts, there are a wide range of them, the good ones. And then the mediocre ones look for the best ones out there. There are podcasts out there about five. Business entertainment, education. Self-improvement the other 10 of these podcasts out there with the best minds, the best experts in the world take advantage of the ones that are out there and just go out there and just listen to the podcast, allow you to, uh, educate yourself. You've got some that are short form five minutes, two minutes, some that are 50 minutes and some that are three hours. They can learn a lot and the best way. That you can learn is through listening. And it's more, this is more time effective than reading a blog in a book because you can listen to a podcast while you are there doing another task, or you are traveling and commuting. You can listen to this podcast, take the information in and then learn the best a lot from. Then the fourth way you can educate yourself is looking at videos and reading and looking at videos and speeches. And this is a way you can go on to YouTube, one of the best websites out there and watch videos. If it's something that you don't know, go to YouTube and be like, how can I. Create a podcast. How can I create right. Write a book. How can I write a bike? How can I squat more? How can I get my lightning, my lighting better? How can I learn faster? If you go to YouTube, there are many tutorials and books and even courses that are on YouTube that will allow you to learn. Um, and I will admit that there are some things. In my university days that I did not understand from the lecture, I did not understand from the course material that was given to me, I went onto YouTube and I was on, I learned a lot from there and I was able to increase my knowledge out there. And also another way to think for you is to do, is to create these materials yourself. When you also, you also learn a lot more by teaching as well. So videos and listen to speeches on. Great way for you to educate yourself. Next one is the 9.5 is online courses. I I'm laying courses. This is where you can get a lot of free online courses. You can get through a lot of paid online courses that allow you to learn nowadays everything be digital. We go into places like Coursera. You can go to places like. You go to places like, uh, 9 99, you can go to like college universities and they've got a number of good courses and you can learn pretty much anything. And one of my favorite ones that I use is called Skillshare. Um, I should probably get them to sponsor my show on day is Skillshare where a lot of creators go out there to create online courses and you can learn how to create a podcast. Great videos have a YouTube channel. You can learn a whole host of things. Skill is on this online course, backbones and inexpensive and the Berets and the cost of entry is not that bad high and allows you to that as much as possible. So I'd say to edgy is entertaining yourself with a streaming services out there. Educate yourself with online courses, because knowledge is a humanity. Get yourself some, some unknown courses, a fantasy. And you can access them pretty expensive. Another note is for you to, to start learning it's educate yourself is to start creating, become a creator don't don't don't consume, become a creator. Create your blogs, write your books, create your podcast, shoot your videos and create your online courses. All right, without people at the kinds of mindsets, such as, uh, area. And haven't seen with a, which is the most famous blow on all the famous plugs up there as authors from your John C. Maxwell to your Malcolm Gladwell, to JK Rawlings to your Robert Greene's, uh, to your Sidney Sheldon's to your Robin. Sharma's out there. If they didn't create the books would not have benefits of funding. And from your podcast, creators, from your guarantees to your journals. Your Ted talk dailies, uh, to your assignments signings and, um, or, and, and also if you're a project manager, a project defied, if they didn't have the mindsets and creates a podcast, but would not benefit funding, and they'll be YouTube content creators that are out there as well. And those people create the online courses. If they didn't have to have the current creation and contribution. We will not have such content that we can benefit from. So I would also encourage you to create, um, a blogs and books and podcasts and videos and the online courses, because that's where you learn. I hope that you enjoyed this episode of five point Fridays, where we talked about five ways to educate yourself. Remember formal education is important. But self-education is far more important for my education. As Jim Rohn said, we'll make you a living, which is fine. Like self-education will make you a fortune, which is super fine. And the best ones you can educate yourself. Uh, one blogs, two books, three podcasts, four videos and speeches, and five online courses. If you enjoy this episode, please like share comment and subscribe. Let me know what you think, which is the best way to educate yourself out there. If you are interested in books and merchandise, please head over to the websites and have a fantastic Friday. If a weighted down, getting ready to carry on, grinding me, be sure to continue to educate yourself, blogs, books, podcasts, videos, and speeches on line courses. And I will see you on the next one.
