Welcome back to another edition of health hack as I continue talking about the importance of hydration. So today I want to share with you what drinks are considered hydrating versus those that are not. So, not to be a party pooper or anything but I do want to let you know that your morning coffee your evening glass of wine or beer, they are not considered hydrating. Hydration comes from water which you can flavor with the juice of half a lemon or half a lime that adds some electrolytes for you an even better turn it into a natural Gatorade by adding a pinch of Himalayan rock salt or sea salt instead of buying energy drinks that are loaded with sugar and food coloring. That is a really great form of hydration for you. Herbal teas are also very hydrating whether you're buying herbal teas at the store or simply making your own from a chunk of ginger that too steep for 10 minutes in hot water and then drink as ginger tea for instance. So those are your options for hydration, it could also be a protein shake, that would be considered hydrating. And you can start your day with that because of course we don't drink all night so we do wake up dehydrated. So it's really important before we even start ingesting food that we first want to hydrate. So I love to start my day with a smoothie, which of course is full of the nutrients from fruit and vegetables as well as some protein and lots of liquid as well as I love to have my natural Gatorade throughout the day. Another tip for you is that the body absorbs room temperature drinks much more easily than it does ice cold drinks. So just think about that when you are hydrated as well. If you know you're very thirsty and dehydrated, try to drink something that is room temperature rather than ice cold. So have fun figuring out how you would like to hydrate your body at 50% of your body weight. So that you can be ensuring that your body is getting a good flush and your organs are all getting what they need in order to be able to function at their best
