All right, Lawyer Talk. Off The Record, on the air. DUI 360, drunk driving, 360 degrees. That means we're covering all angles around the table. We are checking out dui. Now, look, it, uh, is no secret, or at least not to me. And maybe, maybe now you'll be enlightened. I do a lot of, uh, drunk driving DUI in Ohio. We call it OVI Defense. Upstairs. My law practice. Check us out, Palmer. Legal defense. And I've been doing this for the better part. Well, almost 30 years now. And I've learned a thing or two about DUIs. And one thing I've learned is that there's some common thread to dui, like the law is the law, is the law is the law. But how people handle it, what the, uh, impact is on various people when they get a dui, whether it's their first, second, third, or even more, uh, all depends. And that's why I like to take a 360 degree approach. And this series was born from that. Upstairs, when I would talk to people in my conference room, I would say, look, I represent clients, not causes. I don't represent the cause of fighting for DUI People all across the country, uh, I represent clients. And your resolution to a DUI might be different than what somebody else might need. So I'll give you the perfect example of this. I talked to somebody the other day who, um, had their first defense. Ovi. Uh, the individual owned, uh, his own plumbing company. And, uh, the first thing, or he said he was a plumber. And the first thing I asked is, do you work for somebody? He goes, well, it's Family owned. I said, your Family? And he says, yeah, yeah. My dad started the business, and I work for the business. And here's why I was asking that. Because the next question I asked is, uh, what car do you drive? Does the company own the car? He goes, well, uh, the company owns a car, but it's in my name. I'm not quite sure what that meant, uh, on how they do their books. But I did ask the next question is, who insures it? And he and this, my client himself insured it. Now, why does that matter? Because a lot of people work for companies that supply something called Fleet Insurance. And Fleet Insurance is a policy that covers all the vehicles in the company's fleet. So if you're in sales, uh, you know what I'm talking about. You're driving a company car, and you think it's a great perk until you get a dui, and then you Go tell your boss. And you're like, I got a dui. And your boss is like, oh. And here's why they're saying oh, uh, to you. Because most of the Time, fleet insurance, if somebody gets an ovi, they're not going to cover you. And if the company doesn't do something about that, they may in fact terminate you. Uh, and if they keep you on, that may in fact cancel their fleet insurance. So everybody has to treat this very carefully. Now, there are workarounds within companies. There are workarounds individually. Had a very good friend of mine, years, uh, and years and years ago, ran into this problem and he was such a value to the company that they were able to work around it. And, uh, they supplied insurance separately. Or maybe he supplied it on his own or they got a bond, something happened. But that's my point is that the 360 approach is I have to look at what clients need. And, you know, not everybody, uh, can tolerate a first offense OVI conviction. Some people can, some people. Either way, you may not have a choice, but at least we can focus on what matters to the person. And that is why I created the DUI360, uh, approach upstairs. And that's why I'm doing the DUI360 approach down here in the podcast world. So stay tuned. There's gonna be lots of these DUI 360s coming up. Uh, in fact, I'm going to, we're going to use a little, um, production, ah, trickery. I'm going to sign off, I'm going to sign right back on and do a topic for DUI360. So, uh, stay tuned. Lawyer Talk off The Record, DUI360 style, at least until now.
