Chelsey Donn:

And that's Trey Gerrald

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

And today we are so excited.

Chelsey Donn:

I am like jumping out of my skin excited because this week we've got a very special.

VOICEOVER:

Guest of honor.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey and I are so into these special guest of honor episodes

Trey Gerrald:

And then we have our special versus one in five star review episodes where we explore both

Trey Gerrald:

So it's a very exciting extension for us to invite some very special guests of honor.

Trey Gerrald:

on to talk about their experiences, dealing with online reviews, from

Chelsey Donn:

That's right.

Chelsey Donn:

And with their experience in their field, we have them down there Review Queen

Trey Gerrald:

And today, Oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

we have got the renowned legendary talent.

Trey Gerrald:

Of Natalie Weiss.

Trey Gerrald:

So let me tell you just a little smidge about Natalie.

Trey Gerrald:

If you've literally been living under a rock, Natalie is a song, stress and educator

Trey Gerrald:

Her groundbreaking and fun approach to pop technique has become a growing standard in the

Trey Gerrald:

She has broken down the riffs with Tori Kelly.

Trey Gerrald:

Who's a God.

Trey Gerrald:

Ben Platt, Avery Wilson, Laura Osnes.

Trey Gerrald:

she's also song with Jojo Pentatonix, Todrick Hall, Liz Callaway, Shoshana

Trey Gerrald:

Natalie has performed her solo shows to sold out audiences, literally across the

Trey Gerrald:

I haven't even been to like, I've literally not been to any of those places where she

Trey Gerrald:

Natalie has performed on Broadway in, you guys, this is literally in my top three favorite

Trey Gerrald:

She was also on American idol, season four, she was a semifinalist and she performed the

Trey Gerrald:

Now you can hear Natalie's voice on the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman in which she appeared

Trey Gerrald:

But most importantly of all, Natalie is the vocalist our theme song.

Trey Gerrald:

So without further ado, let's welcome.

Trey Gerrald:

Our special guest of honor, the Natalie Robin Weiss.

Natalie Weiss:

I didn't, I didn't know what you were going to say.

Natalie Weiss:

Most importantly, I was like, that is so good.

Natalie Weiss:

Wow.

Natalie Weiss:

That sounds really cool when you read my bio, but then I get, we're not even on camera.

Natalie Weiss:

I was so awkward.

Natalie Weiss:

I was like,

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

kind of hard to like, sit and hear.

Natalie Weiss:

it's very weird.

Trey Gerrald:

So Natalie, you know, our show, we focus on online reviews.

Trey Gerrald:

So we're just curious.

Trey Gerrald:

How would you say your decision-making is impacted by online reviews?

Natalie Weiss:

Hmm.

Natalie Weiss:

If I'm looking at like a knee, like a massage place, that's like cheap.

Natalie Weiss:

I'll probably in that case, read a few I'll scroll and see like high rating, high writing.

Natalie Weiss:

But I don't often read many reviews minus if I'm like, if I'm in a foreign city and I'm on

Natalie Weiss:

But it really is about those like little underground massage places is what I can

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, am I going to get killed?

Chelsey Donn:

Is this a legitimate place?

Chelsey Donn:

Those kinds of things.

Chelsey Donn:

Have you ever left a one-star review yourself?

Natalie Weiss:

I've never left a review.

Natalie Weiss:

I don't think.

Natalie Weiss:

Have you guys

Chelsey Donn:

Not really.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey and I are not the biggest of Review!

Chelsey Donn:

writers.

Chelsey Donn:

We're more studying the art form.

Natalie Weiss:

reviewers?

Natalie Weiss:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

well.

Trey Gerrald:

We're going to come back to this cause we're going to get a little personal

Natalie Weiss:

Yeah, we don't want to get personal too early.

Trey Gerrald:

Exactly.

Trey Gerrald:

So, um, as a warmup Natalie.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, and I like to show our diversity as Review Queen by sharing how we

Trey Gerrald:

So, Natalie, I'm just curious, would you like to join us as we,

VOICEOVER:

Lodge A Complaint.

Natalie Weiss:

I would definitely like to join you for this.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay,

Trey Gerrald:

okay, good.

Trey Gerrald:

I'll start.

Chelsey Donn:

start trying,

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Today.

Trey Gerrald:

I really want a Lodge, A Complaint against loud talkers in public.

Trey Gerrald:

Have you ever been like eating salad at Sweetgreen?

Trey Gerrald:

And you're like with a friend and they're just speaking so loud that You start

Chelsey Donn:

oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

I hate that.

Trey Gerrald:

it feels like such a helpless experience because

Trey Gerrald:

can you lower your voice?

Natalie Weiss:

I know, actually the other day, my friend in a Broadway show, long

Natalie Weiss:

We met for the first time and we were like, got really close and we were in a Broadway show and

Natalie Weiss:

Why are you screaming?

Natalie Weiss:

And I said it in a funny way.

Natalie Weiss:

And so it wasn't as rude, but I totally get you.

Chelsey Donn:

Do you think you're always aware when your, that person I'm aware when there's

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I feel like I'm always super hyper aware of how I'm being perceived,

Trey Gerrald:

And he was like, you're like screaming, be quiet.

Trey Gerrald:

And I was like, what?

Trey Gerrald:

But that's a great, that's a great tactic, Natalie.

Trey Gerrald:

Just, make the suggestion as a joke.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, oh my God, why are you

Chelsey Donn:

I use that.

Chelsey Donn:

I use that technique all the time.

Chelsey Donn:

I usually will break into like my Jewish mother dialect when I do it.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm like you're screaming.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, I guess screaming so loud, you

Trey Gerrald:

So That's my complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

Just everyone.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's all be a little more, aware of how loud we're belting.

Trey Gerrald:

Speaking of Natalie, how about you Chelsey?

Trey Gerrald:

What do you want to Lodge A Complaint about today?

Chelsey Donn:

I've been thinking about this a lot.

Chelsey Donn:

So I want to lodge a complaint against the phrase and philosophy that blondes have more fun.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Here's why,

Natalie Weiss:

on philosophy.

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Chelsey Donn:

Like my mom is blonde.

Chelsey Donn:

My sister is blonde.

Chelsey Donn:

Both of my grandparents were blonde.

Chelsey Donn:

So for them, they get to experience this phrase, like Yan I'm better than you.

Chelsey Donn:

And I just am resentful of this.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, I don't understand where the case study was done.

Chelsey Donn:

when did people decide that if you're blonde, you're like Marilyn Monroe,

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I, I mean, like, I love her.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

You've been a blonde.

Chelsey Donn:

Do you think that you had more fun,

Trey Gerrald:

I, um, I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

Now that it's such a question directed to me.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I think I did have more fun when I was blonde, but I don't know if I just felt duped.

Trey Gerrald:

for some reason I feel like it is credited back to Marilyn Monroe.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know why, but she also was not a natural blonde.

Trey Gerrald:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I hear the complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

There is, it is just something in our culture about, you have to change who you are.

Trey Gerrald:

Everything is like You're too fat.

Trey Gerrald:

You're too old.

Chelsey Donn:

too brunette.

Trey Gerrald:

is bad.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Good complaint.

Chelsey Donn:

you.

Chelsey Donn:

We have we've um, we've gotten everything off of our chest today.

Chelsey Donn:

So, Natalie, it's your turn Lodge?

Chelsey Donn:

A Complaint.

Natalie Weiss:

I would like to Lodge A Complaint about people who don't pronounce

Natalie Weiss:

She was really known for that.

Natalie Weiss:

I listened to two very famous podcasts recently, which I'm not going to say what

Natalie Weiss:

And I had to turn it off because of the Eden's it's so grading to my ears.

Trey Gerrald:

Wait.

Trey Gerrald:

I literally caught myself and didn't start over.

Trey Gerrald:

But when I said breaking down the rafts, I said breaking down the

Natalie Weiss:

no break in is fine.

Natalie Weiss:

Cause that's like, break-in this is, I am physically enabled to put the back of my

Natalie Weiss:

So if you say you, is this a musical theater audience?

Natalie Weiss:

Okay.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm still hurting,

Trey Gerrald:

Oh yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh Mike, so

Trey Gerrald:

that even?

Natalie Weiss:

And I haven't figured out the consistency because people I know from so

Trey Gerrald:

you been able to correct?

Natalie Weiss:

Yes.

Natalie Weiss:

I have worked.

Natalie Weiss:

I have actually posted a video about this maybe three years ago because the girl I was

Natalie Weiss:

So it was like

Chelsey Donn:

Oh,

Natalie Weiss:

we're having a kick ass time and being who you want

Trey Gerrald:

So why was the breakthrough there?

Trey Gerrald:

Did the person, even here they were too.

Natalie Weiss:

No.

Natalie Weiss:

She didn't know until I told her, so not to call it my friend, Carl, but he has this song.

Natalie Weiss:

He's unbelievable.

Natalie Weiss:

And he notices now, so he was saying, we're facing it now.

Natalie Weiss:

Let's say we're facing it now we're facing it now.

Natalie Weiss:

And he's saying we're facing in now.

Natalie Weiss:

We're facing it.

Natalie Weiss:

And it was so jarring that he rerecorded, not just for me.

Natalie Weiss:

He did another version.

Trey Gerrald:

but he couldn't unhear

Natalie Weiss:

Wow.

Natalie Weiss:

He could not hear it.

Natalie Weiss:

So the, basically the thing is like, how do you say the word ring ring?

Trey Gerrald:

Ring.

Chelsey Donn:

Ring.

Natalie Weiss:

then the ring singing.

Natalie Weiss:

And they're like, what?

Natalie Weiss:

This is so weird.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I wonder if like the Kardashians do it or something.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I wonder if there's like a very specific point in pop culture

Natalie Weiss:

if you can figure this out, please

Chelsey Donn:

I personally have like a gut instinct that it's like, what is that?

Chelsey Donn:

That ball hanging ball.

Chelsey Donn:

The you, what is that call?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, I think it's that?

Chelsey Donn:

I think

Natalie Weiss:

Just blame the uvula for

Chelsey Donn:

no, I think it's a week.

Chelsey Donn:

uvula and it's, uh, it's like without using this word incorrectly, it's like a retardation of the

Chelsey Donn:

Ring ring.

Chelsey Donn:

Good.

Chelsey Donn:

When you do that, feel the uvula just saying I'm not a vocal coach.

Chelsey Donn:

You guys not even close, but it's the uveal as vault is my instinct.

Trey Gerrald:

That was really fun.

Trey Gerrald:

So now that we've kvetched.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's rate and review someone else's kvetch.

Chelsey Donn:

Great idea.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Natalie.

Chelsey Donn:

Since you are a world renowned singing teacher, I have brought in a review from the

Chelsey Donn:

I will read the review and together the three of us we'll break it down and rate the impact of

Chelsey Donn:

It's a very Regal process that we call.

VOICEOVER:

Assess That Kvetch

Trey Gerrald:

it is your turn, Natalie to embody your Review Queen-ness

Trey Gerrald:

are you ready for this challenge?

Natalie Weiss:

Yes.

Natalie Weiss:

Scared.

Chelsey Donn:

be scared.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

So Natalie, when I knew that you were coming on today, I thought,

Chelsey Donn:

And I came across a website and the website is called actoresteticc.com They have

Chelsey Donn:

And I thought, okay, let me take a Gander.

Chelsey Donn:

The list includes a personal steamer amongst other things.

Chelsey Donn:

But I decided to go with the personal steamer, cause I thought maybe, you

Chelsey Donn:

So this is a three-star review of the Vick's personal sinus steam inhaler with soft face

Natalie Weiss:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

That's a mouthful.

Chelsey Donn:

So this review is written by geekdrop[.]com.

Chelsey Donn:

Now it's important for me to let you guys know.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know why, but the period in.com is surrounded by brackets.

Chelsey Donn:

Why?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know, but it just, it is.

Chelsey Donn:

And I want to make sure that I'm honoring the name as it, as it lies here.

Chelsey Donn:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

And this is on Amazon.

Chelsey Donn:

This is a three-star.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, Amazon review by geekdrop[.]comped.com.

Chelsey Donn:

First, the good.

Chelsey Donn:

It will clear a nose and it's easy to use.

Chelsey Donn:

Now, the bad.

Chelsey Donn:

It will clear your nose, but you're also breathing in what seems mostly

Chelsey Donn:

Like maybe a 90% heat, 10% vapers, what it feels like.

Chelsey Donn:

For a machine developed for the sole intention of generating steam, there is NO steam.

Chelsey Donn:

Like really?

Chelsey Donn:

I could drink a hot cup of tea and fart a larger cloud of steam.

Chelsey Donn:

The country has been utilizing steam for centuries.

Chelsey Donn:

You think they'd have this down by now, but even on the high setting, if I wanted to see

Chelsey Donn:

In which case I think I might've seen a small whisp or two once in a while.

Chelsey Donn:

Mostly you just see water droplets building up in the mask to let you know

Chelsey Donn:

All that said, I tried to give it a fair chance and kept my face super close to it.

Chelsey Donn:

Even placing my face right on the mask for awhile.

Chelsey Donn:

And you definitely do feel the heat.

Chelsey Donn:

And after some time you do notice it cleared up your nostrils, but I am also a

Chelsey Donn:

And I wanted to get all the way down into my throat and lungs, but I really didn't notice

Chelsey Donn:

Which is a disappointment.

Chelsey Donn:

To be sure my device wasn't faulty, I went and YouTube dub bunch of user videos

Chelsey Donn:

Therefore, I think it's just not much of a steam creator.

Chelsey Donn:

I was expecting PLUMES of steam to come out of one of these things.

Chelsey Donn:

If you set it on high with the ability to dial it back as needed, almost like you see from

Chelsey Donn:

It comes with a menthol pad to use.

Chelsey Donn:

I tried that and wasn't really fond.

Chelsey Donn:

That's just a personal preference though.

Chelsey Donn:

I know there's a whole essential oils culture out there right now, but for some reason I get

Chelsey Donn:

I prefer to try to keep my lungs as pristine as possible.

Chelsey Donn:

Though, I still like that the option is there if wanting to use it.

Chelsey Donn:

Ultimately I returned it and I'm going to try a different brand that I saw on YouTube that

Chelsey Donn:

My final verdict is yes, it will work, but don't expect to see much, IF ANY

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Natalie Weiss:

How much time does that person have,

Trey Gerrald:

I know that was so

Natalie Weiss:

literally who would write that long?

Natalie Weiss:

Review!.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm really struck by the fact that they were bragging

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Chelsey Donn:

I

Trey Gerrald:

and then they returned the product.

Trey Gerrald:

can't!' you catch the flu from isn't that.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, and

Natalie Weiss:

I

Trey Gerrald:

contagious?

Trey Gerrald:

The flu

Chelsey Donn:

oh, good point.

Chelsey Donn:

So they use that, they spread all their flu germs all over it, and

Chelsey Donn:

That's gross.

Trey Gerrald:

Natalie, what do you know about these like personal face steamers as a singer?

Natalie Weiss:

I have the, MyPureMist, which is apparently like the only one to

Natalie Weiss:

So

Trey Gerrald:

your steamer produce a lot of steam?

Natalie Weiss:

it, it produces steam.

Chelsey Donn:

Plumes??

Natalie Weiss:

plumes.

Natalie Weiss:

I like, I love I like to take off the mask to just drink the straw, but, um, no, not maybe plumes.

Natalie Weiss:

Maybe you need

Chelsey Donn:

Like you could see it.

Chelsey Donn:

If you didn't put it against a black surface, the amount of science, you know what I mean?

Chelsey Donn:

I really feel like that's why geekdrop[.]com is geekdrop[.]com because they seemed like they

Trey Gerrald:

How old do you think geekdrop[.]com is?

Natalie Weiss:

25.

Natalie Weiss:

I don't know.

Natalie Weiss:

What do you think?

Natalie Weiss:

Are you getting older?

Trey Gerrald:

I w I felt younger until he said, cutie patootie, young kids with vapes,

Trey Gerrald:

Cause I feel like I call the kids that vape kids.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Same Trey, like, I, this whole time was picturing like a young snooty college student

Chelsey Donn:

But then when I got to the 2d fruity part, I was like, is this a 50 year old man?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't like, I don't, I, I, I felt like I didn't even know,

Chelsey Donn:

you know,

Trey Gerrald:

It's also curious to me that they were like, it produces a

Trey Gerrald:

So I had to press my face right on the mask.

Trey Gerrald:

What didn't You think you would put your

Natalie Weiss:

You literally

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I w I thought that too, I was like, where are you holding your face?

Chelsey Donn:

Like

Natalie Weiss:

He thinks it's going across the

Chelsey Donn:

I don't, I don't know, but it's like, it just doesn't make any sense.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, why do you think the mask is soft?

Chelsey Donn:

It's soft so that you can put your

Trey Gerrald:

face

Trey Gerrald:

on it?

Trey Gerrald:

Also, this whole thing about they can drink a cup of tea and then fart

Natalie Weiss:

No, that was another question far more seem.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I just think it was the geekiest joke I've ever read.

Chelsey Donn:

You know, I just think geekdrop[.]com was really trying to bring on the comedy and

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I was going to say that about the humor.

Trey Gerrald:

I think it's pretty low on humor, but okay.

Trey Gerrald:

What about the value?

Trey Gerrald:

Because I think I am feeling like perhaps, like maybe I wouldn't want to try vex and then

Natalie Weiss:

Yeah.

Natalie Weiss:

I mean, I've heard mixed about it because it is salt.

Natalie Weiss:

My peer mist is between one 50 and 200 and VIX is probably 25.

Trey Gerrald:

Right,

Chelsey Donn:

Right,

Natalie Weiss:

but some people just are like, I just need some steam who cares,

Chelsey Donn:

right, right, right.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, right.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause I feel like this personal steamer, which this is, is not going to produce plumes.

Trey Gerrald:

If you want plumes, then you're going to get like an actual VIX, like for the room, right?

Trey Gerrald:

Like a humidifier for nighttime.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Do we trust geekdrop[.]com?

Chelsey Donn:

Cause I feel like our trust in them is, is waning as they go on.

Trey Gerrald:

I feel split about that because I do feel like they, I mean, this is so lengthy.

Trey Gerrald:

They really went through a lot of effort.

Trey Gerrald:

So it makes me think they've done a little bit of work here to form this opinion.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Natalie Weiss:

a little bit of like a judgment with me of like somebody who

Natalie Weiss:

And so I'm still like how long.

Natalie Weiss:

Did they spend on that?

Natalie Weiss:

If I was like, this is literally the worst service I've ever experienced in my life, do not go there.

Natalie Weiss:

Maybe one more sentence is the longest Review!

Natalie Weiss:

I'd leave.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

If you were to see a Review!

Chelsey Donn:

as long as geekdrop[.]coms, what'd you be like not reading that Review!

Natalie Weiss:

I think I would read it if it's, I would be curious to see the one-star

Natalie Weiss:

I wouldn't read everyone

Chelsey Donn:

And this is a three-star review.

Chelsey Donn:

You should note, do we feel like three stars are the appropriate amount?

Natalie Weiss:

for that long.

Natalie Weiss:

I feel like maybe he thought it was

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't get three stars from this.

Trey Gerrald:

They returned the product.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, I feel like this is a one star Ms.

Chelsey Donn:

Qualified as a Three,, which doesn't happen often.

Chelsey Donn:

Usually it's the other way

Trey Gerrald:

Wait, so do we think that this is a common experience or do we think it's a flu?

Trey Gerrald:

I feel like, I wonder if geekdrop bracket dot bracket com got a faulty product.

Natalie Weiss:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I just feel like it wasn't working because they have the flu.

Natalie Weiss:

Oh

Chelsey Donn:

I'm so grossed out now by the fact that they returned the product after they had

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Last thing.

Trey Gerrald:

What's the spelling grammar like,

Chelsey Donn:

excellent.

Chelsey Donn:

Solid score.

Chelsey Donn:

on, on spelling and grammar.

Natalie Weiss:

Hmm.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, Natalie, any final thoughts before we go on to crowning?

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

I think we're ready.

Trey Gerrald:

yeah, I think I can crown it too.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So Chelsey, Natalie and I each have our own set of one to five crown cards.

Trey Gerrald:

In an effort to be fair and not influence one another.

Trey Gerrald:

We will simultaneously reveal our writings.

Trey Gerrald:

Did I say it.

Trey Gerrald:

wrong again?

Natalie Weiss:

you said it's weird.

Natalie Weiss:

You said influence, but it's you didn't say the

Chelsey Donn:

But that's what he says.

Chelsey Donn:

Insurance

Natalie Weiss:

I'll know you say insurance.

Trey Gerrald:

I say, see Matt instead of

Natalie Weiss:

What's

Chelsey Donn:

Halloween, Halloween.

Natalie Weiss:

influence.

Trey Gerrald:

Jersey

Natalie Weiss:

Delete you don't say EAN.

Trey Gerrald:

A'..

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens.

VOICEOVER:

Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my goodness.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So Trey is holding up four crowns, Natalie, two crowns, and I'm holding up one and a half crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm the outlier.

Chelsey Donn:

mean the real ally, I was shocked,

Natalie Weiss:

Wow.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm shocked for

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Natalie, let us know that it's high, I think, but Trey will defend himself in a second.

Chelsey Donn:

So Natalie, let us know why you gave geekdrop[.]com two crowns.

Natalie Weiss:

Honestly, he wasted too much of my time.

Trey Gerrald:

Um,

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Natalie Weiss:

It just was too long.

Natalie Weiss:

Like we get it.

Natalie Weiss:

You don't like it.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

That's fair.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's hear

Chelsey Donn:

it.

Trey Gerrald:

right.

Trey Gerrald:

I, I said four, I took one crown off because it.

Trey Gerrald:

was way too lengthy as well.

Trey Gerrald:

But the fact that they went on YouTube, the fact that they tried the product, I feel

Trey Gerrald:

So I think it would give me pause.

Trey Gerrald:

That's the impact for me?

Trey Gerrald:

So I said four, but Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I am still turnt about the fact returned it.

Trey Gerrald:

That's so disgusting.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, why did you say one and a half?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay, I hear you try it.

Chelsey Donn:

I want to validate your opinion because I do think that there are people out there

Chelsey Donn:

So for those people, maybe this would be a four for me.

Chelsey Donn:

It was a one and a half geek job.com was like attempting to make me laugh on successfully.

Chelsey Donn:

The flu thing really gross me out.

Chelsey Donn:

I gave them one crown because the spelling and grammar was really good.

Chelsey Donn:

I threw on an extra half crown because it was a three-star, Review!

Chelsey Donn:

not a One,.

Chelsey Donn:

So they were at least acknowledging a few times in the Review!

Chelsey Donn:

that it kind of works.

Chelsey Donn:

Like it did clear my, my nostrils up.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

So for that, I decided to give them the one and a half crown, but I

Chelsey Donn:

So that's it.

Chelsey Donn:

That's my decision.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, everyone.

Trey Gerrald:

So we're going to take a quick break.

Trey Gerrald:

And when we return, Natalie Weiss has agreed to share a Review That she herself has received

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, boy, I cannot wait to crown that we will be right back.

VOICEOVER:

Hold your crown we'll be right back.

Trey Gerrald:

It's game time.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, Natalie and Chelsey, it is time for us to take a quick spin on the Meryl.

Trey Gerrald:

Go round.

Natalie Weiss:

I love this.

VOICEOVER:

'I don't feel like an icon.

Chelsey Donn:

Here's the deal.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey has picked a rotten scathing, pithy One-Star-Zinger for Natalie and himself.

Chelsey Donn:

And with 30 seconds on the clock, they'll take turns, trying to recite the zinger

Trey Gerrald:

Just like queen Meryl Streep, who does it all, including singing.

Chelsey Donn:

before the clock runs out.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Natalie, I just texted you a review that says zinger.

Natalie Weiss:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

right, Natalie, since you're our guest of honor, I would love it.

Chelsey Donn:

If you would go first today, and can you let us know?

Chelsey Donn:

Where is your zinger from?

Natalie Weiss:

So this is a one-star review for vocal ease Amazon product.

Natalie Weiss:

And this is from Jessie S, "IT DIDN'T WORK MY VOICE IS STILL HOARSE NO CHANGE."

Trey Gerrald:

it's not an all caps.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay,

Trey Gerrald:

right.

Chelsey Donn:

Natalie, we got to strap you into something before you got on the Meryl-Go-Round.

Trey Gerrald:

fling off.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, We don't have liability insurance.

Chelsey Donn:

So I'm picturing like a bedazzled microphone.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So like sort of like an, like a nod to Whitney Houston.

Chelsey Donn:

So strap yourself in.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you ready?

VOICEOVER:

Three, Two,.

Chelsey Donn:

Jazz singer

Natalie Weiss:

it didn't work level is still so home.

Natalie Weiss:

There's no change.

Natalie Weiss:

Am I doing it to this music?

Natalie Weiss:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

country,

Natalie Weiss:

And then

Chelsey Donn:

Brittany

Natalie Weiss:

it didn't work.

Chelsey Donn:

AHPRA, diva.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God.

Chelsey Donn:

I like, I think I might just have to like pay extra to hear you do

Natalie Weiss:

Oh, my God.

Natalie Weiss:

I was so nervous because you know why I heard the key of the other song and I was like, I have to

Natalie Weiss:

I can see kept repeating the same

Chelsey Donn:

first of all that Brittany was like epic.

Chelsey Donn:

So you got four Natalie, but I don't know, like, if you will let us, I would

Natalie Weiss:

I want to, I want to do more.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay, good.

Chelsey Donn:

I want you I'm like so excited.

Chelsey Donn:

So if you're not on Patreon, this is a really good reason to join All

Trey Gerrald:

believe I have to follow that.

Chelsey Donn:

got to follow that act.

Chelsey Donn:

So with that in mind, I'm going to strap you into a Mike with Auto-Tune just so like it can

Chelsey Donn:

You're welcome.

Natalie Weiss:

Just high belt, just high belt, Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So today my zinger is also from amazon.com and this is for the Andover pipe,

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my

Trey Gerrald:

this is written by Tim lover and the one-star reviews subject is, does not work.

Trey Gerrald:

And the Review!

Trey Gerrald:

is had to blow hard and long, not helpful.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Moving on, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you ready?

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, Here we

Trey Gerrald:

go.

Chelsey Donn:

Here we

VOICEOVER:

Three, Two, One, GO!.

Chelsey Donn:

Heavy metal.

Trey Gerrald:

Hey,

Natalie Weiss:

so

Trey Gerrald:

I'm like, I am so embarrassed and I'm friends with

Natalie Weiss:

literally, what are you talking about?

Natalie Weiss:

I can't even built that high stop.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not giving you Natalie.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause you didn't get it in time.

Chelsey Donn:

So Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

No, no, no.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not giving him the point

Trey Gerrald:

that's fair.

Trey Gerrald:

No, it's

Chelsey Donn:

which is

Chelsey Donn:

fair because he came in, he came in after the buzzer

Chelsey Donn:

And you know, I'm the one that's judging this.

Chelsey Donn:

So that's only fair.

Chelsey Donn:

So that means that it's a tie divas just saying Trey, I think the Auto-Tune helped.

Chelsey Donn:

That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Trey Gerrald:

I agree.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

We are back from that rousing game break and now it's time to get a little more personal, but

Chelsey Donn:

Let's hear a clip from.

VOICEOVER:

So sometimes when I feel down, I like to go on the internet and

VOICEOVER:

now everybody's entitled to their opinions.

VOICEOVER:

That's what we're here to talk about.

VOICEOVER:

And why are these?

VOICEOVER:

Natalie has a fierce belt, a fierce, fierce nose.

VOICEOVER:

And it's totally nice.

VOICEOVER:

Maybe busy, maybe not the prettiest girl ever, but certainly a great

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my God.

Trey Gerrald:

uh,

VOICEOVER:

girl who needs to eat.

Chelsey Donn:

Stop.

Trey Gerrald:

tell us about the creation of doing the mashup of bugaboo scrubs

Trey Gerrald:

How did you get the idea?

Trey Gerrald:

How has it evolved, et cetera?

Natalie Weiss:

Well, I have used mean commons in my shows for so long.

Natalie Weiss:

I had put the mean comments to something else.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm not sure.

Natalie Weiss:

And then I realized the way that I already started a song as like a ballad.

Natalie Weiss:

Like you make me want to throw my pager out the window.

Natalie Weiss:

Very, very deep.

Natalie Weiss:

I knew I needed, like, I guess zinger is a different, I use it as like a, like the

Natalie Weiss:

Everything is fine.

Natalie Weiss:

You know, trying to kind of take the high

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

What's the general reception, like

Natalie Weiss:

they love it.

Chelsey Donn:

I just love that you're doing this because the thing that brings me the

Chelsey Donn:

Kind of dismantle them.

Chelsey Donn:

And I really think that that's what you do.

Chelsey Donn:

Not only are you dismantling the insanity of someone going on the internet

Chelsey Donn:

And by doing that, giving permission to other people, to like, hold that

Chelsey Donn:

You know, we always on the show, it's saying, ignore the haters.

Chelsey Donn:

You're a queen, but it's true.

Chelsey Donn:

Like you are embodying that.

Chelsey Donn:

And I think there's so much power in that.

Chelsey Donn:

It really makes the rest of us feel like, okay, I can have a thicker skin.

Natalie Weiss:

I mean, that's like a really awesome way of putting it.

Natalie Weiss:

Like thank you.

Natalie Weiss:

But I have to say I have the thinnest skin, like.

Natalie Weiss:

Of anyone.

Natalie Weiss:

So when I re like, I remember where I was when I saw a girl who did you eat?

Natalie Weiss:

And it crushed me.

Natalie Weiss:

And then now, because it is absolutely absurd years later, I was like, this is insane.

Natalie Weiss:

Of course, I'm going to use this in my show.

Natalie Weiss:

There are some comments I won't read that are too truthful to my own insecurities

Natalie Weiss:

And I'm like, oh, I read me for Phil.

Natalie Weiss:

But the ones that are like insanely, like how would anyone ever write that?

Natalie Weiss:

What are you saying?

Natalie Weiss:

Those are the ones, but the ones that are really, really dig deep, like I need to

Natalie Weiss:

So it's, I'm glad I can do that after the fact, but I'm definitely not like that.

Natalie Weiss:

These people I'm not like that at all right

Trey Gerrald:

I really recommend everyone go to YouTube type in Natalie Weiss mean comments.

Trey Gerrald:

It's the first video that comes up.

Trey Gerrald:

She's wearing white.

Chelsey Donn:

But even though, like you said, like, oh, like, I'm glad you see it that way,

Chelsey Donn:

I think that like that's even more brave and more true.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, yeah, I feel terrible when I read this and I'm not going to just sit

Natalie Weiss:

Yeah, thanks.

Chelsey Donn:

All right with that in mind.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

With, With, all of that background in mind, Natalie, we asked you to bring

Chelsey Donn:

That was either a harsh critic or an MVR, which is the most valuable reviewer.

Trey Gerrald:

Which is basically a negative or a positive review that you have personally received.

Trey Gerrald:

And then it just like before we, well,

VOICEOVER:

Assess That kvetch.

Chelsey Donn:

Then after Trey and I have crowned, we will ask you to share with us

Chelsey Donn:

was on you.

Chelsey Donn:

So, Natalie, what have you asked Trey to read?

Natalie Weiss:

So in 2014, eight years ago, I was doing two cabarets at this Houston

Natalie Weiss:

I got a tweet from the reviewer that said, check this out, Natalie.

Natalie Weiss:

And so I clicked on it.

Natalie Weiss:

Long story short, you'll hear the Review!

Natalie Weiss:

They tweeted it at me.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, okay.

Natalie Weiss:

So I was like, what's this?

Chelsey Donn:

Hi.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, so you got this.

Trey Gerrald:

So this is a harsh critic and you got this the morning before you had

Natalie Weiss:

I had to do another show, the exact same concert.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So this is a BroadwayWorld Cabaret Review.

Trey Gerrald:

This is written by David C.

Trey Gerrald:

And the subject is 'Natalie Weiss's Personality Overshadows Vocal Talent In Houston Cabaret.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we go.

Trey Gerrald:

a YouTube sensation, many are familiar with Natalie Weiss's voice and face, and

Trey Gerrald:

Yet, somewhere along the way, her abrasive personality overshadowed her vocal talent.

Trey Gerrald:

Don't get me wrong.

Trey Gerrald:

The brash new Englander is my favorite form of American.

Trey Gerrald:

I enjoy the stereotypical confidence and charisma of the typical Northeasterner.

Trey Gerrald:

However, when one comes on stage to sing for an audience, that is what I expect to happen.

Trey Gerrald:

It's easy enough to forgive the 17 minute delay at the beginning of the concert.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, that is until the first act wrapped in about 35 minutes.

Trey Gerrald:

The second act of dragged out a bit longer as Natalie Weiss added a song to

Trey Gerrald:

She also returned for a three song Encore.

Trey Gerrald:

Even with this, the concerts still ended at the stroke of 10:00 PM.

Trey Gerrald:

Meaning between banter and singing.

Trey Gerrald:

Last nights, audience got approximately 88 minutes of Natalie Weiss on stage.

Trey Gerrald:

Moreover, Natalie Weiss's banter didn't really hook the audience in Houston.

Trey Gerrald:

It took almost the entirety of the first act for the crowd to warm up to her.

Trey Gerrald:

Before the act one closer, she read actual messages from her OkCupid inbox.

Trey Gerrald:

This was Natalie Weiss at her most genuine.

Trey Gerrald:

I get that quote, all the world's a stage and her job is to perform.

Trey Gerrald:

However, the beauty of an intimate cabaret concert is that you get to be real.

Trey Gerrald:

Others treat the experience like they are performing in their

Trey Gerrald:

And that dynamic is what seemed to be missing the most from last night's concert.

Trey Gerrald:

Moreover.

Trey Gerrald:

a second moreover, her Encore was a fun selection of audience favorites.

Trey Gerrald:

It started with a lovely take on, Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, but the song fell apart for

Trey Gerrald:

Then she closed with her take on Demi Lovato's Skyscraper.

Trey Gerrald:

I can't deny that the vocal performances that she offered were thrilling.

Trey Gerrald:

Natalie Weiss also deftly delivered many, an impressive vocal riff,

Trey Gerrald:

She made the performance fund by walking through the crowd to get to the stage.

Trey Gerrald:

Her Spark of Creation from Children of Eden was captivating.

Trey Gerrald:

My favorite performance of hers was the energetic and colorful mashup she did of

Trey Gerrald:

Even with the impressive vocals, her need to stop and restart some songs

Trey Gerrald:

It also rubs me the wrong way when she called out David Lerner on the drums twice for

Trey Gerrald:

At least she tried to cover it in jest, attempting to make a joke out of it by

Trey Gerrald:

However it was her declaration of quote.

Trey Gerrald:

'Usually I don't do this.

Trey Gerrald:

Normally, I can't talk by now!' At the beginning of the Encore that really raised my

Trey Gerrald:

This concert in Houston, wasn't a total bust.

Trey Gerrald:

The audience got to hear some sturdy vocal performances, the teenagers

Trey Gerrald:

Everyone had some laughs.

Trey Gerrald:

However, I'd hazard a guess that Natalie Weiss, who seemed truly to be performing

Chelsey Donn:

I'm so mad at David.

Chelsey Donn:

See, I need to like take a breath.

Natalie Weiss:

too.

Trey Gerrald:

really super long Review!, but I, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm curious because I feel like David contradicts themselves because they say

Trey Gerrald:

And then later as like, how dare her be casual,

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Natalie Weiss:

Oh, wait, how dare her?

Natalie Weiss:

Yeah.

Natalie Weiss:

Okay.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm not going to.

Chelsey Donn:

So I have so many thoughts now, first of all, his assessment is so

Chelsey Donn:

I was turned off by this, but then proceeds to list a bunch of things that he likes.

Chelsey Donn:

He also says that the audience as a whole, because suddenly they've all

Chelsey Donn:

But then was like, they got to see their hero and they were so excited and we all had some

Trey Gerrald:

I literally was going to mention that because first of all, David approaches this

Trey Gerrald:

a bizarre point.

Trey Gerrald:

If you're trying to like, Review!

Trey Gerrald:

something, but they separate themselves from the audience, which I think is bizarre,

Trey Gerrald:

That's the first sentence.

Trey Gerrald:

But then yeah, no, they just, it seems very contradictory.

Chelsey Donn:

I also think it's completely bizarre that they bragged about loving the

Chelsey Donn:

That that's their favorite and then had a problem because they found Natalie brash.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

David.

Chelsey Donn:

See, I think you're shady.

Chelsey Donn:

And I think you can go ahead and leave.

Chelsey Donn:

David's say

Trey Gerrald:

I just, one other little thing that jumps out to me is, um, you know,

Trey Gerrald:

And so when you see them and a concert, you know, they, they mentioned how the

Trey Gerrald:

Which how do you know that?

Trey Gerrald:

But like, let it go.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I think there's maybe like a handful of people that can sing that.

Trey Gerrald:

And then, I mean, here we go.

Trey Gerrald:

It says, let it go.

Trey Gerrald:

Skyscraper.

Trey Gerrald:

Natalie holds like a G sharp or

Trey Gerrald:

something crazy.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like titanium.

Trey Gerrald:

That's like Jennifer, Hudson C uh, like crazy people sink.

Trey Gerrald:

That's not an easy, it's like all of these songs, the spark of creation, they are

Trey Gerrald:

It's not like Natalie's going out singing lullabies.

Trey Gerrald:

Like I don't understand the whole judgment about her offering three songs as an Encore and making

Chelsey Donn:

No, there are so many things in this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

that are contradictory.

Chelsey Donn:

So I don't, I immediately don't trust the author.

Chelsey Donn:

I also really hated the entire section where they were talking about if she knew the proper way to

Chelsey Donn:

All of a sudden, Natalie doesn't have the technique to get through these songs.

Chelsey Donn:

Like give me a break, David.

Chelsey Donn:

See, I want to see you get up there and sing all those songs and not have a moment where

Chelsey Donn:

I was like, blessed enough to see Whitney Houston.

Chelsey Donn:

And she had taken many minutes to be like, oh, that was a song.

Chelsey Donn:

Give me a second.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to have some water.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, what is it that you're expecting?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think you're honoring the crowd of people that are going to this show that want to be there.

Chelsey Donn:

And if you don't want to be there, then you shouldn't be there.

Chelsey Donn:

And that's why I don't trust him.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, that's why I also think there's something wrong with the value here,

Trey Gerrald:

So the value that you're adding feels mean like an unnecessary, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Obviously spelling and grammar is great because I'm sure BroadwayWorld

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, I think it's shady.

Trey Gerrald:

I think they're just intentionally like having a superior attitude and like

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, based on the fact that David C excludes themselves from the crowd makes

Natalie Weiss:

Oh, is that something you guys do with all the reviews?

Natalie Weiss:

I love that.

Natalie Weiss:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

And then humor where you entertained.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean,

Chelsey Donn:

no.

Chelsey Donn:

I was like stunned to silence.

Chelsey Donn:

A mad,

Trey Gerrald:

And then final question before we crown, is what's the impact?

Trey Gerrald:

Is this a deal breaker?

Trey Gerrald:

It makes me like, it's interesting because I think the intention of the Review!

Trey Gerrald:

it's flipped for me because it makes me feel defensive of the artist and that

Trey Gerrald:

And that's really maddening.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, it is interesting, cause this is like about an art form.

Trey Gerrald:

So then it gets subjective and people have, see what they want to, you know, it's

Trey Gerrald:

So like this is a deal breaker for me.

Trey Gerrald:

I think it's a deal breaker for me for reviews from this reviewer.

Chelsey Donn:

Agreed.

Chelsey Donn:

Totally

Trey Gerrald:

All right, well I'm ready to crown.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you want a crown?

Chelsey Donn:

I am ready to crown.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm committing a show first.

Chelsey Donn:

I

Chelsey Donn:

want you to know Natalie.

Chelsey Donn:

This is a show first and I am giving David C zero crowns, zero crowds,

Natalie Weiss:

What

Chelsey Donn:

Yep.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

tell us about the show first.

Chelsey Donn:

I swear my life.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not just saying this because Natalie is sitting here.

Chelsey Donn:

as a performer.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm so like trigger warning about these type of reviews and I'm so mad.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think there's any value here.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think we're tapping into the audience.

Chelsey Donn:

I think David C can go ahead and go home.

Chelsey Donn:

And for that reason, zero crowns, David.

Chelsey Donn:

See, do better.

Chelsey Donn:

a

Trey Gerrald:

And I did a half crown because I think the only value here is that I get

Trey Gerrald:

So I feel like I would fit in with the crowd.

Trey Gerrald:

Like I think that I would also be like, oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my God, it's she's doing

Trey Gerrald:

let it go.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

And it makes me feel like I'm more of a fan because I felt like this

Trey Gerrald:

And that makes me feel like I'm closer to the person.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm a fan of, because I want to like, make it better,

Trey Gerrald:

you know,

Chelsey Donn:

Agreed.

Chelsey Donn:

And

Natalie Weiss:

Sorry, I'm typing.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm writing notes.

Natalie Weiss:

Cause you have so many good points.

Chelsey Donn:

that was a lot, but, but I want to just say like quickly again, like I'm not

Chelsey Donn:

I don't give them any credit for that because I think that's expected as a part of the assignment.

Trey Gerrald:

I will just throw in.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know how this works.

Trey Gerrald:

I, I don't know if BroadwayWorld commissions reviews.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I, I don't know if you're right or wrong.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm just throwing out.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know how it works to be a contributor for BroadwayWorld.

Trey Gerrald:

So I just want to clear the air.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So show first, zero and a half crown, which is insane.

Trey Gerrald:

So first of all, Natalie, thank you for being vulnerable and sharing this.

Trey Gerrald:

I know that like, we've been sort of tiptoeing around this, this whole second half of

Trey Gerrald:

People are very forthcoming behind keyboards and you have handled a lot of

Trey Gerrald:

And so since we have you, we want to know what the impact of this.

Trey Gerrald:

You, you mentioned you got this in between two performances, so take us back to 2014.

Trey Gerrald:

And what was, why was that?

Natalie Weiss:

Sorry.

Natalie Weiss:

I did a lot alongside, I need a water.

Natalie Weiss:

Um, okay.

Natalie Weiss:

First of all, thank you for pushing me to do this because as Trey

Natalie Weiss:

I'm super triggered by this Review!

Natalie Weiss:

because I don't really talk about it.

Natalie Weiss:

And it's also on the internet for life

Natalie Weiss:

and it was so hurtful and I like, I know who they are and I never talked about it again.

Natalie Weiss:

I don't want any, any fights with anyone, but.

Natalie Weiss:

So I'll take you back and then I'll say, first of all, thank you guys,

Natalie Weiss:

And I know like, you know, I just met you, but Trey and I have known each other for so long.

Natalie Weiss:

And obviously I know you're, my friends are going to give it a zero Review!,

Natalie Weiss:

blah, blah, blah, or a crown.

Natalie Weiss:

But it is interesting objectively the things you're saying, I'm like, yeah, you're right.

Natalie Weiss:

I did feel that way.

Natalie Weiss:

But basically when I saw the tweet, I opened it being like, oh my God, I got it.

Natalie Weiss:

And then I just like, saw it.

Natalie Weiss:

And I was like, Andrew, Andrew.

Natalie Weiss:

And he was like, Natalie, why did you Google your name?

Natalie Weiss:

And I was like, what do you mean?

Natalie Weiss:

I'm not just searching mean comments.

Natalie Weiss:

Like that's like, no.

Natalie Weiss:

And so I had to like tell the producers.

Natalie Weiss:

That I was like, this is insane.

Natalie Weiss:

I can't believe I have to go back and do this again.

Natalie Weiss:

Like, and the thing is, it's not, she can't act, I've heard enough of that.

Natalie Weiss:

It was like a direct attack of me as a person.

Natalie Weiss:

So it feels so, so personal.

Natalie Weiss:

And I had to do the exact same show and I was like, so in my head, and then the person who

Natalie Weiss:

Nobody felt that way.

Natalie Weiss:

Literally nobody, they loved it because I had such a high meeting the

Natalie Weiss:

Like I did it, I got through it.

Natalie Weiss:

I was singing.

Natalie Weiss:

Um, bring him home then as with a fuck you in my head of what, this is my interpretation of

Natalie Weiss:

On the other hand, I will say I took it as a learning experience because.

Trey Gerrald:

Um,

Natalie Weiss:

To defend myself.

Natalie Weiss:

One, Trey has seen many of my shows and I hope that he would attest to part of

Natalie Weiss:

I am chilling out in my living room.

Natalie Weiss:

Me self-deprecating is on brand of like, oh my God, Ooh, lost my voice cracked.

Natalie Weiss:

Oh, that is more to me.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm not going to change that.

Natalie Weiss:

That is more like, I'm perfect.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm going to crack.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm going to joke.

Natalie Weiss:

I literally inhaled my spit on an inhale.

Natalie Weiss:

I distinctly remember when I went, sorry, because that's, it's not, I'm not in a Broadway show where

Natalie Weiss:

like, I can't leave the stage.

Natalie Weiss:

I actually can ban.

Natalie Weiss:

So that was just like, take a seat off of your high horse.

Natalie Weiss:

I am totally self-deprecating and joking where I can learn is like, yes, the

Natalie Weiss:

He missed, messed up two things.

Natalie Weiss:

And I definitely, I will take that as a, I probably can't ever call them out.

Natalie Weiss:

Of course I did it in jest because that's my humor.

Natalie Weiss:

I wasn't like, excuse me, where my backup singers.

Natalie Weiss:

I wasn't like, excuse me, somebody singing my note or like you played the wrong thing.

Natalie Weiss:

I was like, oh, where'd you go or something shady.

Natalie Weiss:

But I would say, I would learn from that.

Natalie Weiss:

I probably won't ever do that again because that rubbed him the wrong way.

Natalie Weiss:

And he is allowed to be rubbed that what seemed like bitchy to a

Natalie Weiss:

We kind of bonded me and the drummer.

Natalie Weiss:

I thought that we have this rapport.

Natalie Weiss:

I think that's probably why I was like, we had spent two days together.

Natalie Weiss:

So I thought maybe we had that rapport okay.

Natalie Weiss:

I don't remember why we started 17 minutes late.

Natalie Weiss:

Maybe it was the venue.

Natalie Weiss:

Maybe I, I don't even know why the whole I'm singing.

Natalie Weiss:

If she really knew how to sing really gets me.

Natalie Weiss:

I can't with that.

Natalie Weiss:

The thing was that I had to do it again.

Natalie Weiss:

That was super hard.

Natalie Weiss:

Um, and he didn't get it.

Natalie Weiss:

That, that's the thing that really hurt the fact that like, I think the audience was

Natalie Weiss:

I started second guessing everything.

Natalie Weiss:

I was like, everything he said is right.

Natalie Weiss:

Everything he said is right.

Natalie Weiss:

I will never do that again.

Natalie Weiss:

Not fuck him.

Natalie Weiss:

It was.

Natalie Weiss:

And now looking back, like hearing like objective, like wait, huh.

Natalie Weiss:

You know, so.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I'm just, I'm so glad we could do that for you because it's like

Chelsey Donn:

So I, you know, I empathize.

Natalie Weiss:

Right, right, right.

Trey Gerrald:

And something you said at the very beginning is like, what do you

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I think that is something that's very key, especially in a world that is musical

Trey Gerrald:

We think things are a certain way.

Trey Gerrald:

And where is the creative license?

Trey Gerrald:

And you weren't doing Les MIS you were doing a concert and you were singing a male song.

Trey Gerrald:

So like, why can't you do what you want to

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know the definition of cabaret, but I think any cabaret that

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, who wants to hear a straight classic over and over again?

Chelsey Donn:

We've all heard it before.

Chelsey Donn:

We're coming to the cabaret to hear a different take on it.

Trey Gerrald:

I have a question.

Trey Gerrald:

Did you alter the show at all?

Natalie Weiss:

Oh, for the second day,

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And then in general, moving forward, cause you said it was a lot, there were a lot of blessings

Natalie Weiss:

I probably didn't start 17 minutes late.

Natalie Weiss:

You know what I mean?

Natalie Weiss:

Like who knows?

Natalie Weiss:

Um,

Trey Gerrald:

were singing when they were walking in.

Natalie Weiss:

like literally,

Chelsey Donn:

You're like I'm early.

Natalie Weiss:

and then, yeah, exactly.

Natalie Weiss:

Um,

Trey Gerrald:

So no, not

Trey Gerrald:

really.

Trey Gerrald:

You were able to

Natalie Weiss:

I definitely, probably didn't call off the drummer,

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Natalie Weiss:

you know,

Trey Gerrald:

I feel like, I guess like, we've talked about how you do

Trey Gerrald:

what would your advice be to your younger self?

Trey Gerrald:

Like how do you keep producing and not hiding in a hole somewhere?

Natalie Weiss:

I guess people have said to me, if you're on the internet, the more known

Natalie Weiss:

And so you're doing something right.

Natalie Weiss:

If people are talking, but it's hard because not everyone can like you, you can't serve everyone.

Natalie Weiss:

I'm like, oh, what do you mean?

Natalie Weiss:

You

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, no, I do now.

Trey Gerrald:

I also just, I want to end this little section here.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Obviously, like you're sitting here with us, but I would just say as authentic as possible.

Trey Gerrald:

I remember when David and I went to see your show at the high line and we were in the front row

Trey Gerrald:

and I feel like, um, I feel like I'm getting emotional, but I feel

Trey Gerrald:

What your specific talent that you just like God given possess.

Trey Gerrald:

And it was like, it makes me feel emotional because I feel like so many

Trey Gerrald:

So it makes me feel really crazy that someone wouldn't get that or what twist it in a

Trey Gerrald:

Like it pains me because it's just a waste of energy and time.

Chelsey Donn:

totally agree.

Trey Gerrald:

if we could just all add positivity, like we wouldn't have this

Trey Gerrald:

It's like, what's the point at the end of the day?

Chelsey Donn:

Totally.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

I concur with all of that.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's move on.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's everybody grab some tissues.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

We're going to crank up the heat.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

If you thought that burner was all the way up, you're wrong.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause there's a few more levels.

Trey Gerrald:

So Natalie, We have some questions for you,

Chelsey Donn:

We have some very serious questions.

Chelsey Donn:

Not only it's time for some strong opinions.

Chelsey Donn:

We want to hear your first gut reaction.

Chelsey Donn:

There's no wrong answer.

Chelsey Donn:

Just your immediate.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, and I will alternate pulling questions out

Trey Gerrald:

We're going to put 60 seconds on the clock and you will try to answer as many of these

Trey Gerrald:
