Vesna:

Welcome to the

Vesna:

Peak Revival Podcast.

Vesna:

My name is Vesta, and

Vesna:

today I wanna talk about

Vesna:

heavy emotions and pain

Vesna:

while we are healing.

Vesna:

So in last week's

Vesna:

podcast, I talked about

Vesna:

my worst nightmare that

Vesna:

I broke my leg or ankle.

Vesna:

And basically if you

Vesna:

haven't listened to it,

Vesna:

you can go listen to it.

Vesna:

I'm not gonna go

Vesna:

through it again.

Vesna:

But, you know, I was

Vesna:

talking about how it

Vesna:

was my worst nightmare

Vesna:

because now I'm sedentary

Vesna:

pretty much for 12 weeks.

Vesna:

But through this process,

Vesna:

what I noticed was something

Vesna:

that was really interesting

Vesna:

to me because I've been in a

Vesna:

lot of pain, obviously in the

Vesna:

first couple of weeks, and.

Vesna:

The pain, you know, is

Vesna:

worse at night and whatever.

Vesna:

But the pain was interesting

Vesna:

'cause I was like,

Vesna:

oh, it's so annoying.

Vesna:

It's so frustrating.

Vesna:

I can't relax, I can't sleep.

Vesna:

And then it really occurred

Vesna:

to me that the pain that I

Vesna:

was feeling is because my

Vesna:

bone is healing, my bone

Vesna:

is fusing together, right?

Vesna:

I was like, yes.

Vesna:

So healing hurts.

Vesna:

And I think that we have

Vesna:

this idea that healing

Vesna:

is a gentle process.

Vesna:

It's pain relieving, you know?

Vesna:

But actually it's painful.

Vesna:

I then started to look

Vesna:

at, well, let's look at

Vesna:

the different scenarios in

Vesna:

which healing is painful

Vesna:

or creates suffering or

Vesna:

discomfort or heavy emotions.

Vesna:

Right.

Vesna:

And I'm gonna give you some

Vesna:

examples, and I know for

Vesna:

sure because I hear this all

Vesna:

the time in my work, right?

Vesna:

So just because something

Vesna:

hurts doesn't mean it's

Vesna:

wrong or something is wrong.

Vesna:

And I really want you to

Vesna:

take that away because we

Vesna:

associate pain as something

Vesna:

bad, something to avoid.

Vesna:

You know, there's something

Vesna:

is wrong here, okay?

Vesna:

But actually, whenever we are

Vesna:

making changes in our life and

Vesna:

things happen in our life, it.

Vesna:

Brings pain.

Vesna:

Even if we're making

Vesna:

decisions for our best

Vesna:

interest, it still brings

Vesna:

heavy emotions and pain.

Vesna:

And if we don't recognize

Vesna:

that that's part of the

Vesna:

process, it can look like

Vesna:

something's wrong and that

Vesna:

we can't do this and we

Vesna:

need to pull back and go

Vesna:

back to what we were doing.

Vesna:

Stay in the situation that

Vesna:

we're in because it mustn't

Vesna:

feel, it mustn't be right

Vesna:

because it hurts so much.

Vesna:

Right?

Vesna:

But actually that's the

Vesna:

process we have to go through

Vesna:

even for healing.

Vesna:

Okay.

Vesna:

So again, I think it's

Vesna:

something that we see as

Vesna:

a gentle nurturing process

Vesna:

kind and pain relieving.

Vesna:

But no, it's painful like

Vesna:

for me it's physical pain.

Vesna:

It's emotional pain because

Vesna:

I'm restricted, I'm frustrated

Vesna:

with where I'm at, right?

Vesna:

It's all that process that

Vesna:

we have to work through.

Vesna:

Well, I have to work through,

Vesna:

so I wanna talk about the

Vesna:

ways that this shows up.

Vesna:

And you would've seen this

Vesna:

for yourself if you've gone

Vesna:

through a relationship breakup

Vesna:

or you're considering a

Vesna:

relationship breakup, and you

Vesna:

notice that that idea of that,

Vesna:

or the outcome of that is that

Vesna:

you feel so emotional, right?

Vesna:

You feel very sad, very teary.

Vesna:

And that makes you question

Vesna:

whether you're doing the

Vesna:

right thing, but that doesn't

Vesna:

mean that you should stay.

Vesna:

Again, it's a change and it's

Vesna:

healing and it hurts, okay?

Vesna:

We can't avoid the

Vesna:

heavy emotions.

Vesna:

We either get them in

Vesna:

the situation or coming

Vesna:

out of the situation.

Vesna:

So in this case, pain and

Vesna:

heavy emotions does not

Vesna:

indicate that you should stay.

Vesna:

When I have clients go

Vesna:

through detox and have

Vesna:

detox symptoms, you would've

Vesna:

noticed this headaches tired.

Vesna:

Some people feel nauseous,

Vesna:

they can't sleep.

Vesna:

they get a lot of cravings

Vesna:

or people get emotional

Vesna:

around food cravings, right?

Vesna:

When people go through

Vesna:

detoxes and we, we take away

Vesna:

their emotional crutch that

Vesna:

they have on food, right?

Vesna:

I always pre-war

Vesna:

people about this.

Vesna:

You don't realise how much

Vesna:

food is distracting you.

Vesna:

You use it as a distraction

Vesna:

for your emotions, and when

Vesna:

we take that away, you're

Vesna:

going to feel emotional, and

Vesna:

that can feel like a signal

Vesna:

that this isn't right for me.

Vesna:

This doesn't work for me.

Vesna:

This isn't what I need.

Vesna:

But that's part of the

Vesna:

detox process, right?

Vesna:

It's just part of the process.

Vesna:

And so we have to go through

Vesna:

that in order to get the

Vesna:

outcome that we want.

Vesna:

Even if we are looking at

Vesna:

gut repair and changing

Vesna:

your microbiome, the initial

Vesna:

change that you're gonna

Vesna:

feel as the microbiome shifts

Vesna:

is more bloating and gas

Vesna:

like, that's just as the

Vesna:

bacteria are changing, the

Vesna:

bad bacteria are dying off

Vesna:

and there's, we're creating

Vesna:

more healthy bacteria that's

Vesna:

going to have some bloating

Vesna:

and gas that's just normal.

Vesna:

But again, if we think that

Vesna:

it should be a gentle process,

Vesna:

that everything should

Vesna:

be, as soon as I start, I

Vesna:

should be feeling amazing.

Vesna:

Well, no, because

Vesna:

there's going to be

Vesna:

an adjustment period.

Vesna:

Because as we heal, it

Vesna:

becomes uncomfortable, right?

Vesna:

We're we are

Vesna:

resetting the system.

Vesna:

Okay?

Vesna:

And just like my bone

Vesna:

repair for a broken

Vesna:

ankle, it hurts, right?

Vesna:

The bones are fusing together.

Vesna:

Bone pain, right?

Vesna:

You think of growing pains

Vesna:

as a kid, like the bones

Vesna:

are, you know, they're

Vesna:

healing and that requires a

Vesna:

lot of energy and it hurts.

Vesna:

I can really assure you that

Vesna:

it hurts and that's normal.

Vesna:

That's a normal

Vesna:

part of the process.

Vesna:

So for me, you know, when I

Vesna:

noticed that my pain was due

Vesna:

to healing, I accepted it.

Vesna:

when I talk to people

Vesna:

about their detox symptoms,

Vesna:

yeah, that's normal.

Vesna:

What you're feeling.

Vesna:

It's normal to feel emotional

Vesna:

going through a detox

Vesna:

because food was your crutch.

Vesna:

You didn't even

Vesna:

realize that's normal.

Vesna:

It's, you can

Vesna:

accept it, right?

Vesna:

It makes it easier

Vesna:

for you to understand.

Vesna:

But if you think you're

Vesna:

gonna go through this and

Vesna:

just feel amazing from the

Vesna:

day one, and then when it

Vesna:

doesn't, you are most likely

Vesna:

to pull back and quit.

Vesna:

Okay?

Vesna:

So.

Vesna:

Making these changes and

Vesna:

feeling that discomfort or

Vesna:

feeling those heavy emotions

Vesna:

is part of the journey.

Vesna:

Obviously for me, I

Vesna:

don't want my pain to

Vesna:

get worse every day.

Vesna:

If that was the case, if

Vesna:

it's getting worse and worse

Vesna:

and worse after two or three

Vesna:

weeks, then there's a problem.

Vesna:

But I'm really pointing

Vesna:

to that pain can be the

Vesna:

way, like we've gotta get

Vesna:

through the pain, we've

Vesna:

gotta get through the heavy

Vesna:

emotions, gotta get through

Vesna:

the suffering to get to the

Vesna:

outcome that we wanna get to.

Vesna:

Healing is painful

Vesna:

and pain doesn't mean

Vesna:

that something is wrong.

Vesna:

I think one of the other

Vesna:

things that, particularly

Vesna:

people with health

Vesna:

anxiety, they don't

Vesna:

realize that body naturally

Vesna:

gets a lot of symptoms.

Vesna:

Twitches a pain here, there.

Vesna:

That's actually it just.

Vesna:

Very normal.

Vesna:

It doesn't mean

Vesna:

anything unless we

Vesna:

make meaning out of it.

Vesna:

The other thing that I wanna

Vesna:

talk about with healing that

Vesna:

I see all the time in my

Vesna:

work is that you may be doing

Vesna:

something and you start to

Vesna:

feel really good And you could

Vesna:

feel really good for a while,

Vesna:

or you could feel really good

Vesna:

for two weeks, and then you

Vesna:

don't feel so good, right?

Vesna:

And you hit this lull

Vesna:

and you're like, oh,

Vesna:

it's not working.

Vesna:

I feel like I used to,

Vesna:

oh my gosh, what have I?

Vesna:

Why isn't this working?

Vesna:

I'm doing all

Vesna:

the right things.

Vesna:

What's wrong now?

Vesna:

What?

Vesna:

Why, why, why, why?

Vesna:

And healing just isn't

Vesna:

a straight line, right?

Vesna:

I've never seen healing

Vesna:

as a straight line.

Vesna:

I've been doing this work for.

Vesna:

Over 20 years, healing

Vesna:

is not a straight line.

Vesna:

You feel good and then

Vesna:

you kind of, it looks

Vesna:

like a relapse, but you

Vesna:

kind of lapse in there.

Vesna:

You go through a lull and

Vesna:

then you go up again, and

Vesna:

you go through a little

Vesna:

lull, and then you go up

Vesna:

again and another little

Vesna:

lull, so it's never straight.

Vesna:

Right?

Vesna:

And so it's in those lulls

Vesna:

that if you don't, if

Vesna:

you're not aware of that,

Vesna:

you're gonna be like,

Vesna:

oh, this isn't working.

Vesna:

I'm just gonna give up.

Vesna:

And that's not the case.

Vesna:

It just doesn't work in

Vesna:

a perfect straight line

Vesna:

like we would love it to.

Vesna:

Right.

Vesna:

And it doesn't mean that

Vesna:

when you're in a lull that

Vesna:

you're doing something wrong.

Vesna:

Okay.

Vesna:

It's just the way that the

Vesna:

body does what it does.

Vesna:

Okay?

Vesna:

I can't explain to why

Vesna:

it goes into a lull.

Vesna:

I just see it all the time,

Vesna:

and I also see my clients

Vesna:

or women in my community

Vesna:

who get really disappointed

Vesna:

and they're like, but I

Vesna:

was going so well, and

Vesna:

you will go so well.

Vesna:

Again, do not make a

Vesna:

story out of the lull.

Vesna:

It's very normal.

Vesna:

as you're getting results,

Vesna:

you're going to continue

Vesna:

to get results, right?

Vesna:

As your body's feeling

Vesna:

good, you're on the right

Vesna:

track, you're doing the

Vesna:

right thing for your body.

Vesna:

So you just gotta keep going.

Vesna:

So those are my insights

Vesna:

from my journey right now.

Vesna:

And also the journey of,

Vesna:

you know, thousands of women

Vesna:

that I've seen go through.

Vesna:

Healing in our programs

Vesna:

and my clients that the

Vesna:

healing journey hurts.

Vesna:

Okay.

Vesna:

Uh, it's uncomfortable.

Vesna:

It can bring up heavy

Vesna:

emotions, it can bring

Vesna:

pain, any kind of symptoms.

Vesna:

Okay?

Vesna:

But we've gotta

Vesna:

work through that.

Vesna:

That's not an indication that

Vesna:

we're doing something wrong.

Vesna:

It's just an indication that

Vesna:

we've gotta get through that.

Vesna:

And once we do, all

Vesna:

of that falls away.

Vesna:

So guys, I would love for you

Vesna:

to leave me a come below if

Vesna:

you see the chat box or the

Vesna:

comment box I should say,

Vesna:

and let me know, have you

Vesna:

noticed this for yourself?

Vesna:

When you've done detox,

Vesna:

you've got heavy emotions,

Vesna:

or you've got headaches, or

Vesna:

you know, maybe you're in

Vesna:

a relationship that you're

Vesna:

not sure whether to leave or

Vesna:

you have left and you feel

Vesna:

emotional, whatever the pain

Vesna:

or the heavy emotions are.

Vesna:

Have you seen it

Vesna:

as something that.

Vesna:

Indicates that you've done

Vesna:

something wrong, or can you

Vesna:

see now that maybe pain is a

Vesna:

natural, very natural, very

Vesna:

normal part of the process.

Vesna:

Leave me a comment below.
