Speaker AHey, what's up, champions?
Speaker AThis is your host, Neal, and I want to welcome you back to the Executive Perspective with Neal Reyes.
Speaker AMan, we have a powerful show lined up for you today.
Speaker AToday I'm going to be teaching you about your impact towards others, whether you feel, feel or see it or not.
Speaker AMan, I'm Telling you, this is a powerful episode.
Speaker AYou know, all of our podcasts focus on one of three areas.
Speaker AThis podcast focuses on leadership, business strategy, and personal development.
Speaker AAnd just about everything we teach can fit into all three of those.
Speaker AOur purpose, and my purpose of my heart, is to help you connect with your best self and your best performance so that you can live your best life.
Speaker ANow, today, I'm going to be talking with you about a topic that I refer to as the ripple effect.
Speaker ANow, when I talk about the ripple effect, let me paint a picture with my words for you so you can understand exactly what I mean.
Speaker ASo consider yourself going out, and you're out by either a pond or some type of body of water, whether if it's a lake or a pond.
Speaker ABut let's just picture a pond in this case.
Speaker AIt's a beautiful day.
Speaker AIt's as clear as can be.
Speaker AI mean, it's the kind of day that when you look in the distance, you can see far off because there's just so much clarity.
Speaker AAnd as you approach this pond, it's a serene moment.
Speaker AIt's just so peaceful.
Speaker AIt's so comforting.
Speaker AAnd as you're out there, the pond is just as still as can be.
Speaker AIt looks like a mirror.
Speaker AI mean, as you look at it, literally it's reflecting the sky, it is so clear.
Speaker AAnd you decide to pick up a rock and throw a rock out into the middle of the pond.
Speaker AAnd as you do, you pick up this pebble or this rock and you chuck it out in the pond and it makes a nice splash.
Speaker ABut immediately immediately afterwards, you see the ripple that goes out from that center point.
Speaker AThat's the epicenter.
Speaker AAnd from that impact where that rock hit the water, you now have a ripple effect that expands out and across the pond.
Speaker AAnd because it's such a clear day, you're able to watch those ripples as they move off in the distance.
Speaker ABut oftentimes, those ripples can move even farther than what your eyes can see, because at first, when the rock impacts the water, the ripples are large.
Speaker ABut the farther they go, the wider in circumference they get, but also the smaller they get as far as height.
Speaker ASo after a while, you just have a hard time seeing it.
Speaker ABut just because you can't see it doesn't mean that the ripple is not there.
Speaker AThat's what I refer to as the ripple effect.
Speaker AAnd in life, there's a ripple effect that can occur with how you speak the words you choose to use, your actions, you know, sometimes.
Speaker AAnd I will tell you this, that as leaders, and you're a leader, whether you like it or not, as a leader, you'll hear me say, someone is always watching you.
Speaker AWhen you're a leader, someone's always watching you.
Speaker AThey're either watching your actions or they're listening to your words, but someone is always watching you.
Speaker ABut more significantly, someone's always depending on your ripple, whether you realize it or not.
Speaker ANow, that's a significant concept today.
Speaker AAnd today we're going to go deep on this.
Speaker AWe're going to go deep into the core of ourselves today.
Speaker AAnd today's episode might be a bit of a challenge for some of you to listen to, but it's not meant to be to challenge in the sense that it's meant to break you down.
Speaker AEverything we teach here, we want to build you up.
Speaker AYou know, if you've listened to our other podcasts, I say often that on the executive perspective, we have one direction we head.
Speaker AIt is forward and upward.
Speaker AAgain, our direction that we head on this podcast is forward and upward.
Speaker AOur things that we teach on here are designed to build you up.
Speaker AThey're also designed to lift you up.
Speaker ABut to get to a point where we can say we've connected with our best self, with our best performance, and with our best life, well, sometimes we got to do the deep work.
Speaker AAnd doing the deep work is when we examine ourselves at the core and we ask or we examine, is there room for improvement?
Speaker AAnd if there's room for improvement, then it's up to us to put that work in, especially when we're talking about something like the ripple effect, because someone's always watching you, whether you recognize it or not.
Speaker AAnd there are those who are depending on you whether you know it or not.
Speaker AAnd so the deep work you put in today helps you be your best self tomorrow.
Speaker AAnd that ripple effect of your best self impacts many people, often people you don't even recognize or know it's impacting.
Speaker ASo as we go into that today, I want you to understand, today may be a hard one, but it's a good one.
Speaker AIn fact, I think it's going to be a little bit of spiritual surgery for some people, but I think it's going to be very uplifting for others because there are those of you who are listening to this show, and you're a super high performer.
Speaker AYou're dialed in on your work, you're dialed in on your business, you're focused, focus, focus.
Speaker AYou're goal driven.
Speaker ABut maybe you've kind of given up on life a little Bit from the standpoint of thinking nobody cares about you, nobody values you.
Speaker AThey only value what you can do or what you bring to the table.
Speaker AOr maybe you've given up on yourself of what you can contribute to others or what you mean to others.
Speaker AAnd what I'm going to tell you is that that's erroneous and that's false.
Speaker AIt's what I would refer to as a lie from the pit of hell.
Speaker AAnd I'm going to encourage you to think past that today, but help to reconnect with your inner self.
Speaker AAnd if you're already doing these things, that's fantastic.
Speaker ALearn how to do it even louder.
Speaker ABecause the.
Speaker AOne of the things I didn't share about that ripple effect in the beginning, you know, I painted that picture with my words about picking up that little pebble and throwing it to the middle of the steel pond and watching the ripples.
Speaker ABut, you know, the bigger the rock, the bigger the impact.
Speaker AAnd the bigger the impact, the bigger the ripple.
Speaker ASo even if you're already aware of the ripples you're making today, understand you can get even louder in your influence and louder in your impact.
Speaker ABecause we want to build others up and we want to help them.
Speaker AWe want to make this world a better place.
Speaker ASo the first thing I want to go over with you is let's define what the ripple effect really is.
Speaker ARipple effects can happen with or without intention, and that's a powerful one right there.
Speaker ABut ripple effects can happen with or without intention.
Speaker AThe goal is to make sure your ripple, however, is purposeful.
Speaker ANow, what do I mean that it can happen with or out with intention?
Speaker AWell, let's talk about that for a second.
Speaker AYou know, oftentimes the greatest ripples you can make are with your words, the words you use.
Speaker AYou know, words should always be used to build others up, not tear them down.
Speaker ABut oftentimes the words that are spoken within this world are words that tear down or that break down people.
Speaker AThey're meant to tear them apart.
Speaker AAnd that's not what words are designed for.
Speaker ACertainly words can be misused like that.
Speaker ABut your words should come out of you in a way where you're building others up.
Speaker AExcuse me.
Speaker AOne of the things that it tells us in the Bible, if we were studying the Bible today, it tells us in the Word which, that's filled with words of wisdom.
Speaker ABut it tells us that out of the abundance of a man's heart, the mouth will speak.
Speaker ANow, if you've heard other episodes we've had, in fact, if you heard yesterday's episode, I talked about a gas tank or a reservoir you have inside of you.
Speaker AThat's your character gas tank.
Speaker AAnd that depending what you feed into your character gas tank, what you fill it up with, that's what you'll respond with in times of pressure.
Speaker AWell, in times of pressure, oftentimes your mouth will open up.
Speaker AAnd as you're squeezed with pressure from the outside.
Speaker AIt's in the episode where I was talking about people are like grapes, but people are like grapes.
Speaker AWhen you squeeze them on the outside, whatever's the inside will come right out.
Speaker AWell, if someone squeezes you hard on the outside with pressure or maybe with their harsh words, whatever circulating around in that character gas tank of you on the inside is going to come right out.
Speaker AAnd where's that character gas tank live?
Speaker AIt lives in your heart.
Speaker AAnd so out of the abundance of the heart, the man will speak.
Speaker AYou know, sometimes you can say sharp words or say something that you didn't intend to be sharp, but sometimes it just comes out a little harsher than you realize.
Speaker AAnd, well, that's doing it without intention.
Speaker ABut it can still impact a person.
Speaker AWe need to be guarded with our actions.
Speaker AWe need to be guarded with our words.
Speaker ABut when we learn the impact of our words and the impact of our actions, we understand the impact of that ripple effect, man.
Speaker ANow, we can be purposeful with our actions and purposeful with our ripple.
Speaker AAnd that's where contributions happen in life.
Speaker AThat's where we can impact the masses.
Speaker AWe can impact so many people in powerful ways when we understand that concept and principle.
Speaker AThe other thing I want you to understand is influence versus visibility.
Speaker AInfluence versus visibility.
Speaker AYou understand that you don't have to be seen by many people to affect many people.
Speaker AI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AYou don't have to be seen by many people in order to affect many people.
Speaker AI'll give you two examples of this.
Speaker AOne, this is a podcast.
Speaker ANow, this is a podcast where you can connect on our website@neilrays.com or go to our YouTube channel and watch the videos.
Speaker ABut many people, in fact, maybe most people listen to it on audio, which means you're listening to me, but you can't see me, but you're listening to me.
Speaker AAnd my words can have an impact in you.
Speaker ABut here's another way of understanding it.
Speaker AYou know, if I were taking an apple, and if I were holding an apple in front of you right now, you know, mankind understands how many seeds come out of the core of that apple.
Speaker ABut only God knows how Many apples can come from one seed.
Speaker AOh, that's powerful right there.
Speaker AI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AMankind knows how many seeds come from one apple, but only God knows how many apples can come from one seed.
Speaker AMan.
Speaker AThat's a powerful principle.
Speaker AI learned that years and years and years ago, and I come back to that often, my teachings, because of the profoundness of it.
Speaker AWell, that seed, that apple seed, that's just like a ripple.
Speaker AYou know, when you throw that in the pond, that rock in the pond, you might know it's going to cause some ripples, but you don't know how, how many, how big, how far, or how long those ripples go.
Speaker AWhen you make a genuine impact in someone else's life, you might be touching future generations with your impact without impact even realizing it.
Speaker AIn other words, if you show kindness to a stranger or if you genuinely help somebody, whether you know them or not, you may not think that's a big deal, but that person may go home, they may talk about you to their spouse, they may talk about you to their children, and they may bring your name up often because of that one act of kindness you did within their life.
Speaker AAnd that family will carry that and know that and hold you in high esteem and high regard without you even recognizing the impact that you had within their life.
Speaker ABut just like you can have a positive ripple, you can also have a negative ripple.
Speaker AThat's why we want to be purposeful and intentional about what we sow into our character gas tank within our body, within our heart.
Speaker AAnd you're doing the right thing by growing yourself and focusing on things like this.
Speaker ARemember, on this podcast, we have one direction we head, and that's forward and upward because we're about building others up and lifting others up.
Speaker AThe next thing I want to talk to you about today is a little bit of coaching insight that I want to give you.
Speaker ASo we're going deep today, and we're talking about some things, but this is good stuff.
Speaker AThis is good medicine.
Speaker AYou know, medicine may not always taste good, but when you need it, it's good for you.
Speaker AAnd today we're getting some good medicine.
Speaker AFirst question I have for you.
Speaker AWho is depending on you?
Speaker AThat's a powerful question right there.
Speaker AWho is depending on you even when you're not at your best?
Speaker AAnd that's profound.
Speaker AThat's a profound statement right there.
Speaker ABecause when we think about who's depending on us, but who's depending on us even when we're not at our best, that speaks loudly because there's Someone who's always depending on you.
Speaker AI will tell you that if you're married, your spouse is depending on you, but if you have children, your children are depending on you.
Speaker AFor some of you, maybe it's your parents, maybe they're older now and they need your help or they need your assistance, but someone is always depending on you, even when you're not at your best.
Speaker ANow, I want to help people, though, because sometimes there are those who feel a bit isolated.
Speaker AIn fact, if they're listening to the voice of what I refer to, the enemy and not the voice of God, they'll be left to think that they're an island all unto themselves.
Speaker AAnd that is not the way life works.
Speaker ABut if you're feeling a bit down or you're feeling like you're not having impact, if your answer is no one is depending on you, then I want to challenge you that maybe you've just stopped noticing or maybe you've just forgotten who you really are and why that really matters or who that really impacts.
Speaker AThis is a significant thing because I run across people at times, and these people are all about goals.
Speaker AGoals, goals.
Speaker AOr business, business, business.
Speaker AOr make the next sale.
Speaker AMake the next sale.
Speaker AOr success, success, success.
Speaker AYou know, they're after success.
Speaker AOr the next promotion, the next promotion.
Speaker AAnd that's awesome.
Speaker ABut what is your contribution along the way, even to those people that you're touching, those lives that you're touching in your daily business life?
Speaker ABut what about when business ends and you clock out and you go home?
Speaker AWhat impact then?
Speaker AAnd oftentimes people may feel like they have no impact at all, or they're not.
Speaker AOr like they're not helping anybody.
Speaker AAnd that's false, and that's erroneous.
Speaker ABecause unless you live in some remote place where you have no contact with the world and no contact with anybody, then I know that's not true about you, because you're listening to this podcast.
Speaker ASo clearly you're part of society.
Speaker AThere's a good chance you're having an impact with people, whether you realize it or not.
Speaker ANow, if you're the kind of person who you don't have a strong social network, maybe you don't have many or any friends, maybe you recently moved to a new town, there's still impact.
Speaker APeople you impact, because chances are you go out to eat at some point and someone's got to take your order.
Speaker AYou go to the coffee shop and order a drink, or you turn around and you go to the grocery store, or you do something where you have some kind of impact.
Speaker ABut even those people you can make a large impact in.
Speaker AYou know, I have gotten in a habit for years now that when I go places, I stop and ask people, how's your day going?
Speaker AYou know, sometimes they'll just give you the blanket answer, good or bad or busy.
Speaker AAnd I stop and ask them, good busy or bad busy.
Speaker AI make them think about that for a second.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ABecause I want them to know that they're seen and that they're heard.
Speaker AI want them to feel valued, and I'll open up conversation with them even if they're a stranger.
Speaker AIn fact, especially if they're a stranger, because I want them to know they're valued and that they're seen.
Speaker AAnd anytime someone helps me, I'll tell them, I appreciate you.
Speaker AThank you.
Speaker AI value you.
Speaker AAnd it might be such a simple thing.
Speaker AIn fact, it may even be foreign to them.
Speaker ABut out of all the customers that they served that day, I guarantee you that it was my words that resided with them, even if just for a little bit, because I made them feel seen and I made them feel heard.
Speaker AYou got to value people.
Speaker AYou have to appreciate people.
Speaker AAnd I tell everybody, and I mean everybody, just like I close this podcast when I'm out and about, and I say, you know, my salutation as I'm telling people bye is thank you.
Speaker AHave a blessed day.
Speaker AThat's what I'll tell them.
Speaker AHave a blessed day.
Speaker AI tell everybody, have a blessed day.
Speaker AIt's not just a saying.
Speaker AI'm actually blessing their day when I say that, because they may not believe in God the way I do, and they may not have the same faith set or the same value set, but I know the power of my words and I know the power of my faith.
Speaker AAnd when I tell people, have a blessed day, I'm actually speaking a blessing over them, just like I do on this podcast.
Speaker ASo I want you to understand that now.
Speaker AI have a leadership truth bomb for you today.
Speaker AI think that's a big one.
Speaker AWhen you underestimate your value, you cut off the ripple effect you were born to create.
Speaker AThat's a good one right there.
Speaker AWhen you underestimate your value, you cut off the ripple effect you were born to create.
Speaker ANow, understand this, ripple effects are something you create.
Speaker AYou don't necessarily inherit them.
Speaker AMaybe you're impacted by other people's, and you can carry that same type of motivation or spirit into yours, but you're meant to create your own ripple effect.
Speaker AYou're designed to do that.
Speaker AYou were born to do that.
Speaker ANow Here are two main obstacles that I recognize that can diminish the ripple effect of people.
Speaker AAnd I see these sometimes, often, unfortunately.
Speaker AThe first one is when people are self absorbed.
Speaker AAnd the second one is when people have low self perception.
Speaker ABut let's deal with the first one first, self absorption.
Speaker AAnother way that this sometimes appears or manifests itself is, is by people being in survival mode.
Speaker AYou know, sometimes when things are hard, man, you can be just in survival mode where you're just trying to survive, survive, survive.
Speaker AAnd when you do that, you become disconnected from having an impact on others, but you also become disconnected from the impact that you are making on others.
Speaker AWhen life is hard, people naturally will turn inward.
Speaker AI'm going to say that again.
Speaker AWhen life is hard, people naturally turn inward.
Speaker AThey get quiet, they get alone, they separate themselves.
Speaker AAnd I will tell you that as a faith principle, that's exactly where the devil wants you.
Speaker AHe wants you to feel like you're an island all to yourself.
Speaker AYou know, when you look at the way a wolf attacks a sheep herd, he never usually goes right for the body where all the sheep are at.
Speaker AHe tries to pick off the little stragglers that are lagging behind in life.
Speaker AIf you're part of a sheep herd, or let's just say that's community that you're moving forward with, or maybe your workforce, or maybe it's the people that your counterparts at the office.
Speaker ABut when someone starts to get down on themselves or they start to feel ostracized or alienated, whether by other people's actions or words or their own about themselves, they start to straggle behind.
Speaker AAs that body of sheep move forward, that guy is now straggling behind and he's alone and he's easy to pick off.
Speaker ADon't be the one that's easy to pick off.
Speaker AAnd be mindful of your ripple effect.
Speaker AIf you notice there's someone who's straggling behind, don't leave them out there to get picked off.
Speaker AGo grab them and bring them back into the herd.
Speaker AThat ways they can feel loved and feel part of something.
Speaker AUnderstand you were designed to create a ripple effect, make it a positive one and not negative.
Speaker AThe other thing about self absorption is that when inward, that when someone has that inward focus, it can lead to forgetfulness of their impact.
Speaker AMeaning that they can forget that they even have an impact.
Speaker AThey can forget it because they're focused just on trying to survive, trying to survive, trying to survive.
Speaker AThat's what happens when people become self absorbed.
Speaker ANow the second one of this that second obstacle I mentioned was the low self perception.
Speaker AWhen someone has low self perception, what happens with that?
Speaker AThat's when people stop believing that or they start believing that they're not worth following.
Speaker AYou know, they start thinking less of themselves or that they, their presence doesn't matter.
Speaker AAnd both of these mindsets are a lie.
Speaker AI'm going to tell you a lie from the pit of hell.
Speaker AWhen someone starts thinking that they're not worth following or that they're not good enough, after a while, those can lead to thoughts that they don't even matter anymore.
Speaker AAnd I'm telling you that type of mindset is a lie.
Speaker AAnd the longer you allow that to stay in your mindset, the more dangerous it is.
Speaker AYou know, there's a minister I used to listen to, or not used to, I still listen to him a lot.
Speaker AHis name is Kenneth Hagin.
Speaker ABut this gentleman no longer is alive.
Speaker AHe's graduated to heaven.
Speaker ABut he used to have this saying that has always stuck with me.
Speaker AAnd I've used it on my children, in fact on my youngest son, Tristan.
Speaker AI've used it on him before to help them understand things, even recently.
Speaker AAnd the saying that he has is that people can't stop a bird from flying over their head, but they can't stop the bird from forming a nest in their hair.
Speaker AThat's pretty simple, but that's a profound statement.
Speaker AYou know, you can't when, especially when you're dealing with thoughts or things of that nature, you can't stop, you know, a bird from flying over your head, but if it tries to land on your head and build a nest, you can definitely take care of that.
Speaker AWell, when you have negative mindsets, negative thoughts, you're now not just having a thought fly by, you're allowing that bird, that thought to form a nest in your hair.
Speaker AAnd I'm going to tell you you need to take action over that and get that lie out.
Speaker AYou need to get that mindset out.
Speaker AThe mindset, that type of mindset, it'll shrink your leadership presence.
Speaker ASo if you don't deal with this thing and deal with it quick, it'll diminish or shrink your leadership presence.
Speaker ANow here's what I want to tell you.
Speaker ABecause I had a client a while back who was dealing with this significantly.
Speaker AIn fact, this particular client that I worked with with one on one coaching, they would tend to struggle with being down a little bit.
Speaker ANot like clinical depression, but they would tend to get down on themselves a little bit and just be really negative.
Speaker AAnd one of the Things I asked them one day is I said, hey, these behaviors you're having, these things that you have about it that we're recognizing, is this something you want to pass down to your kids?
Speaker AIs that the legacy you want to leave them?
Speaker AOh, no, not at all.
Speaker ANot at all.
Speaker AAre you sure?
Speaker AI mean, you don't think this is a good thing for your kids?
Speaker ANo, not at all.
Speaker AI don't want my kids to ever have to deal with this.
Speaker AWell, whether you realize it or not, little Johnny.
Speaker ANow the child's not named Johnny.
Speaker AI'm just saying, Kay, but little Johnny is watching you whether you recognize it or not.
Speaker AAnd he wants to be just like dad and mimic.
Speaker ABut if this is the best example you can give them of how life is, whether you mean to or not, when that child grows up, they're going to be a reflection of you and they're going to mirror your effect.
Speaker AAnd if you're not mindful about your ripple effect in their life, you're going to hand that down as a generational curse and they're going to give it out to their children.
Speaker AThat's not the legacy you want to leave.
Speaker ASo what I'm telling you is that even if you're unwilling to change for yourself, be willing to change for others.
Speaker AEven if you don't have children, be willing to change for others.
Speaker ANow, what I want to also share with you as well, if you've lost your ripple effect, how do you reignite it?
Speaker AFirst of all, and this is the easiest way, get back to serving.
Speaker AGet back to serving someone else.
Speaker AWho can you pour into today?
Speaker AReflect on past impact.
Speaker AWhen was a time that you were really had some strong impact on others?
Speaker AReflect on that and then repeat it.
Speaker AIn fact, who has ever even made me told you, you helped me or you changed me.
Speaker AAnd if you've never heard it that strong, sometimes you don't have to hear it to still recognize it and see it, because you just know you do.
Speaker AYou just know what you've done.
Speaker ASo you got to know it.
Speaker AStay true to what you know.
Speaker AThe other thing is, I want to encourage you, that is start small.
Speaker AYou don't have to start big, start small.
Speaker AHow do you start small?
Speaker AShow up with energy.
Speaker AShow up with better energy.
Speaker AThe next time you go into a room and I say better energy, I'm not talking like new AV energy or new age energy.
Speaker AI'm talking like, just show up happy, show up positive.
Speaker AShow up ready to go on, on fire.
Speaker AYou'll impact things in a positive way.
Speaker ALearn to model Resilience.
Speaker AIf people see you going through something tough, they're watching how you do it and your reaction says a lot.
Speaker AOr another way.
Speaker ATry sending a message.
Speaker AThis is one of the strongest things you can do.
Speaker AMaybe even right now, as you're listening to this podcast, you can think of someone who you hasn't heard from you in a while.
Speaker AOr maybe it's someone who you talk to often, but you don't share their words with them enough.
Speaker AI love you.
Speaker AOr thank you for being who you are.
Speaker AI appreciate you.
Speaker AOr just a quick note to let you know how much I value you.
Speaker ALittle words can have big impacts.
Speaker AAnd here's another leadership truth bomb for you.
Speaker ARipples don't start big, but they always grow.
Speaker AI'm going to say that again.
Speaker ARipples don't always start big, but they always grow.
Speaker AAnd some closing thoughts for you today as I get ready to let you go.
Speaker ASomeone needs your ripple today, so don't hold back.
Speaker AAnd every word you speak, every decision you make, the way you carry yourself, it matters to someone more than you know.
Speaker ANow, that being said, guys, I want to just tell you that if you feel like you've been struggling in this area, I want to challenge you to take out a pen and paper and write down a list of three people that you know you've impacted and how, even if they've never acknowledged it, and start to recognize the impact and ripple you have within this world.
Speaker AGuys, I want to thank you for stopping by to grow with us today.
Speaker AI want to encourage you to go by our website@neal Reyes.com where you can find all all of our teachings.
Speaker AI want to encourage you and remind you that I believe in you and I know you have greatness in you.
Speaker AGo out and smash it today.
Speaker AGuys, thank you for growing with me today.
Speaker AHave a blessed day.
