Hey everybody. Welcome back to the last Daily Bible podcast for 2025, and let me be the first to say Happy New Year. Okay. No, go ahead. Go ahead. I'm not the first anymore. It doesn't even make sense. I can't finish this sentence. Let me be among those who say Happy New Year. Happy New Year. Yes. Just by way of reminder, we are finishing up the DBR for this year, but we're not finishing up the DBR totally and we're also not finishing up the DBR for. Ever DBR podcast. Yeah. We are continuing this and we're gonna be back on tomorrow with another episode, and we are starting back at Genesis tomorrow. Genesis and Matthew. Yeah. 'cause our new plan is gonna have you in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, so all year long. Hopefully you're excited about that. Yeah, I'm excited about that. Yeah. I can't wait for the new plan. Yeah. And I can't wait to have a steady diet of the New Testament. I love what we've been doing. So much fun, so much. Insight gained in putting it chronologically, but I just want the pieces. I want it all year. I'm greedy. I want everything all the time in every way, so I'm sure by the middle of this coming year I'm gonna feel like I missed the chronological plan, but I will be excited to read the New Testament all year long. And again, when we read the Bible backwards in 2027. Yeah, that'll be something. Yeah, maybe we'll get some secret messages from that. Maybe it's like if you play that song from, what's that band Led Zeppelin. You play one of their songs backward and it says Hail Satan or something. I don't know. You never did that. Yeah, but you have to play it at 6 6 6. Speed on the Yeah, they say yeah. What's his name? I think it is Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd. Is it Pink Floyd? No. Pink Floyd did some weird stuff too. I think they did. I think they all did. But whether they intentionally did something backward is, I don't know. That's saying a lot. Yeah, that's saying too much. Yeah, I would agree. I would agree. But happy New Year's Eve. Hopefully. Happy New Year. You're planning to celebrate tonight, the end of a year of God's faithfulness as you anticipate another year of God's active in new life next year. Yeah. Yeah, it's gonna be a good year. It's gonna be great. I'm excited for the what's to come. Same. And if you're still in California, you're still doing your thing. Maybe you should let PPG know you're thinking about 'em. 'cause you're gone by this point. I'm gone. We haven't even heard from you. No. In our group thread, you don't talk to us anymore. That's true. I'm so, in fact, I've left the group chat. That would be really funny. That would be funny. And then I need to be re-added back in when I get back. Yeah, no, we've got a great team, so I'm thankful to be able to get away and spend some time away and know that everything is running smoothly back here. Are you gonna be a tanning by the pool kind of guy this time? I don't do that. You don't do that? No, I have. I could tell. I'm. Half German, half British, and so I have zero genetics that tan in me. Yeah, a little bit at a time. I think you could probably pull it off. Yeah. No, that's, if anything's gonna kill me, it's gonna be the sun. Okay. How about this? What if we pay for you to do a tanning salon? Nope. We could see you come in the, and you'd be like, dark brown. You'd be my color. Nope. Maybe worse or better. Nope. Do you wanna do that? Nope. I've been sunburned plenty of times in my life. I have never actually been brown. Well, this could be the year for you, man. I don't think so. I think I've got other things at the top of my list. Well, I mean, again, we'll pay for it. You know what? There's other things that that money could go towards. Well, yes. Better things. That's true. Well, other things, much better things. I don't know. Much better things. Alright, well we'll let you do that. You know one of my favorite songs, favorite songs I forgot to mention is The Hallelujah Chorus. Yes. From Handel's Messiah. Yes. And what I found out is that it comes, at least there's inspiration from Revelation chapter 19. Did you know that? I did not. I didn't either. So, Handel Messiah, hallelujah. Yeah. Gee Shall Rainfall, and ever one of my favorite songs. Revelation 19. In fact, verse six. Well, you see, hallelujah. The Lord God almighty reigns. Yeah. Hallelujah. For the Lord, I got almighty reign. That's where it comes from. It's part of, isn't that cool? I didn't know that. Let's jump in. Let's jump in. Revelation chapter 19 is about worship. Much like Pastor was just saying. And this is going to be the theme of this chapter. There's rejoicing, why? Because Babylon has fallen and with the fall of Babylon is going to come the inauguration of the end of all things. I should say the end of the opposition leading up to the millennial kingdom. So chapter 19, you get all of these expressions of worship. Hallelujah. By the way, that is a transliteration of a Hebrew phrase that means praise the Lord. And so the. Praise is being offered to God for his judgment and for the judgment that's going out against Babylon. There. You've got the 24 elders again in, in verse four. And what are they doing up? They're down on their face again and they're worshiping God for the judgment that he's pouring out against those that are opposed to him. You have another interlude here where the scene jumps back up to heaven and you have another group that's worshiping God in verses six down through verse 10. And this is the church. This is those that are invited to the marriage supper of the lamb in verse nine. Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the lamb. And so this is the bride of Christ, and Christ is the bride groom. This is the celebration. And so this is the church celebrating here as we prepare to. Even come and be a part of the, I believe, the Battle of Rev of Armageddon, because I believe as Christ comes riding on that horse that he's depicted on in Revelation 19 and the Army's following behind him, I believe that's the church. I believe that's the saints and that we will go with him for this final battle. Now, we won't fire a shot and neither will the enemy because Jesus wins and Jesus wins overwhelmingly so. And so there's destruction, there's bloodshed, there is defeat. And this is a complete slaughtering that takes place here in chapter 19 of the enemy of the beast of the false prophet, and of all of the nations that are gathered against the Lord and against Christ. One thing I noticed this time around is that there are two suppers taking place in chapter 19. Yes. The one that you just talked about, the marriage supper of the lamb, but you also have a supper in verse 17 where he calls it the great supper of God. This is not a good supper. No. This is not the kind of dinner party you want to be part of because this is God's execution of his just judgment. And it is gruesome. It is violent. There's a lot of that here, but there's two suppers. I did not notice that before. Yeah. Yeah. You don't wanna be blessed are those who are invited to the First Supper, not so much the second supper. Yeah. This is not a good one. Yeah. Well, chapter 20, we get the millennial kingdom. This is what has divided believers and lemme say that believers not believer from unbeliever, but divided believers, escha logically for a long time. How do we understand this? And one thing that I just wanna encourage you to do. Is note how many times you will find 1000 years repeated over and over and over again here in chapter 20 as a time marker for different things that God is going to do. And so Satan is gonna be bound for 1000 years. In verse two, he's gonna be thrown in and the pit is gonna be sealed over him so that he might not deceive the nations until the 1000 years were ended. That is in verse three. Then verse four, then I saw the thrones and seated on them were those whom authority to judge was committed. This is the church, by the way, in verse come on now, man. Sometimes the verse numbers are so small in my Bible, verse five, they came to life and reigned with Christ for 1000 years verse five again, for 1000 years. It just, it's repeated over and over and over again in this section. My conviction is this is a literal a thousand years, and I think that's why it's so specific that this number is repeated as markers for specific events and how long this is gonna happen. How long are they gonna rain, how long Satan's gonna be bound. He's given a specific time, which is 1000 years, and that's all throughout chapter 20 here. At least the first part. Yeah, I'm with you on that one. We just passed the Battle of Armageddon, which to your point, was not very much a battle. It was basically Jesus just opening his mouth and saying, you're done. That was it. There's another battle though. Yes. There's another one that takes place in chapter 20. Yes. How is this one different? Why is this one even taking place in the first place? So, Satan is released after the thousand years and he's allowed to deceive as many as he possibly can on Earth at this time, and we've talked about this before, not everybody in the millennial kingdom is gonna be saved. So the millennial kingdom is going to be a populace of people that are Christians and that are non-Christians and they're gonna be. Saved by the gospel, the same gospel that you and I are saved. So Satan's gonna be released for one final coup, and he's going to be given an opportunity. This is where Gog and Mago come in. That's Ezekiel 38 language there. And they're going to come up and they're going to launch one final battle or one final attempt at least. To take on the Lord. And this is the last gasp. This is the picture of Satan as the one who hates God more than anyone else. And he even defeated as he is. He's still gonna give it one more shot. And again, this is that last time where this time he is gonna be defeated and thrown into the lake of fire where the beast in the false prophet already are because they were defeated the battle of Armageddon. And that's where he will be forever and ever. And finally, judged. Talk about not learning from your mistakes, right? Okay. This raises an interesting question because clearly the devil knows the Bible. He was able to quote it pretty freely and accurately to Jesus, although he misapplied it if he knows. That his death and his defeat is sure. Why does he fight? He's clearly an intelligent being. He's made by God so clearly he has some form of intelligence. He's been around for thousands of years. What on Earth would possess this thing? To continue to fight against God knowing Revelation 20 is written down and it's, this is it for him. I think there's a difference between knowing and believing. I think he knows what the Bible says, but I think he's so prideful that he still believes that he's going to win in the end. Wow. So pride blinding him from seeing what's really there. Right. That's a really interesting point. Okay. Yeah. So now we enter in, it almost kind of casually jumps us into the judgment before the great white throne, but this is a judgment for who's in view here Is this believer? Unbeliever everybody. Yeah. Yeah. This is the unbeliever. And so this is the judgment where the dead are going to be raised to life or are not in Christ. These are, we believe eternal bodies, not glorified bodies, but eternal bodies that are prepared for the lost and they will be judged and ultimately condemned to the lake of fire where Satan, the false prophet and the beast are. And this is the time where, those that have rejected the Lord across the eons of time, from the beginning of time on, are gonna be finally committed to their end judgment, which is the eternity in the lake of fire, suffering there with the false prophet and the beast and Satan, I. No offense, John, appreciate your writing, but it's almost just casually thrown in there. Can't believe this is what happened. Believe, yeah. This is the facts of the matter and here's what happens next. Chapter 21, issues in the New Heavens and the New Earth. Let's talk about that. That's a fun time. Yeah. This is one of my favorite passages in scripture. It's the hope of what we have in awaiting us. Coming. Behold, the dwelling place of man is with God. He's gonna dwell with them. He's gonna wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning or crying or pain for the form of things that passed away. So there's no more effects of sin present in the new Earth. Wow. And that's gonna be amazing. Not only for just the external, but just internally. Like we're gonna be there. We're never gonna have a, another battle with temptation and lust and anger and selfishness and all. It's gone. It's gone and we will know a freedom to walk and worship Jesus the way that we were designed to, at least created originally to. And we'll enjoy that for the rest of time. There's, right now, we sit here and we think about the end of things. There's no not gonna be thinking about the end of things any longer when we're in eternity, and that's gonna be amazing and all that's gonna be because Jesus is gonna be with us. How does Jesus wipe away every tear from her eyes, but there's no crying. Verse four here. So he says he'll wipe away every tear. Death shall be no more, neither mourning, crying, pain. Former things have passed away. I think it's symbolic of the new reality that we're stepping into in the new Earth, that these things are gone. That the tears that were being shed over what had happened, the tears that were being shed over, or things that happened during our life, those are wiped away by Christ. And, I think it's more descriptive of the the reality, the implications that the byproduct of being with Jesus, that there's the joy that's now gonna be ours, that comes from him. That's ours forever and ever from that point forward. Fascinating. Another impact of the presence of Christ. You'll note in verse 22 says, there's no temple in the city. For the temple is the Lord God Almighty. He's there and the lamb, and there's no sun and there's no moon because the glory of God is gonna give the light. So there's a lot of pretty amazing things about the new Earth that are gonna be things that we will only understand when we're there, things that we can think about, try to conceive of, but we'll really only be able to understand it when we're there. Notice. People are bringing their goods and their glory and their things into the new Jerusalem. So the earth is gonna be populated. So you are not necessarily gonna live in the new Jerusalem. You may live in the new, you know, Siberia. You may live in the New Texas. You may live in the new Canada for all I know. But you're gonna bring your glory into the kingdom there. And then chapter 22 ends with a beautiful picture of the river of life and the tree of life, which we last saw in the Garden of Eden. Now, the tree of life is aligning the river of life. There's multiple forms of this tree that are there, and it's a reminder of everlasting life that we have there. In the book ends with Jesus saying, I'm coming soon. In verse seven, he says it again in verse 12. I'm coming soon. And then he says it again in verse 20. Surely I'm coming soon. And so it's a good reminder to us that we need to be ready for the return of Christ. So. We've talked about it before, but let's just notice here and bring it up again. There's no ocean. There's no sea. There's no ocean or sea, and yet there are large bodies of water because in Revelation 22 here, there's a river that flows through the city. Yes. So there is some water somewhere. There's water places. Yes. I don't know, maybe we still have wave pools and we have surfing options and we. Some kind of beach, but those are interesting to me. There's no night anymore. Does that mean that we're not sleeping any longer or does that mean that God changes our constitution so that we perpetually stay awake? Yeah. Yeah. There's lots of questions here that we don't really have significant answers to at this point, but it is interesting to note that whatever the new creation is, the new heavens, the new Earth. It is both similar to our experience and it's also radically different. I wonder if part of the lack of the C has to do with the lack of darkness. Because of the depths of the ocean being known as being so dark. Like if you think of a Mariana Trench or you think of the depths versus a river is still shallow enough, largely most of the time that you can see the bottom. Now, not all the time, the mighty Mississippi, you can't see the bottom of that. But I wonder if there's something to the lack of darkness is why the sea is no longer there. It's an interesting thought, the very least. Yeah, I, yeah. I would think maybe God would be like, Hey, just go down there, explore it put some light bulbs down there. Or he could create a sea that is light. Yeah. Maybe because yeah. Says no ocean, no sea. Oh, okay. Anyway. Well, there's exciting things and here's the best part about that. If any of this disappoints you and you're like, man, I really wanted a sea. Because I still feel that sometimes trust that whatever God is planning is gonna be way better. It's gonna be awesome, it's gonna be better. No sin. That by itself would make every aspect of your existence 1,000,005 times better at least. So trust that whatever this picture is, whatever it speaks to, is gonna be far better than what we have today. And you're gonna be able to eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch with every breakfast as part of a well balanced breakfast. I mean, if you want it, I guess, are we gonna have the best brisket that man has ever known? True. That's also an option. True. Hey, let me be the first to say congratulations on making it through the whole Bible. You did it. And happy New Year. New Year, man, this is amazing. Here. Here's past. We're gonna muster all the pastoral authority we can muster right now. All of it. You got it. You fully charged up. Yep. We command you. We command you. Or this is sin. If you don't do it, we command you to celebrate that you made it through the Bible. Rejoice. Celebrate, do something. Eat an ice cream cone. Eat an ice cream cone. Eat some cinnamon toast crunch. If that's your bag, do something to celebrate that. You made it through the whole Bible. Who? And holler and dance in the streets. That would be acceptable. Yes. We would accept that. Like David. David with all of your might before the Lord. Keep your clothes on. Please don't do it like David Keep, keep your clothes on. But now we want you to celebrate. You did an amazing thing. If you've been with us this whole year it, congratulations on good job sticking with us, first of all. But more importantly, you read your Bible and we are so thankful for that. We're so proud of you. We are grateful that you have joined us on this journey, and we are stoked to do it with you, not only this last year, but also in the year ahead, which means we'll catch you tomorrow. So let's pray. And then we'll be done with this episode. God, thanks for your word, and for finishing another year in it, we pray that it would bear fruit and that it would continue to bear fruit and not just today, tomorrow, next week but throughout our entire lives that the word of God will truly be the greatest return of investment that we will see in our lives because we are faithful to be committed to it. Pray for that for the next year too. As we stand on the dawn of a new year we don't know what's coming, but we know that we'll have your word and we pray that we'd spend time in it. Pray this all in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Keep in your Bibles, y'all. Tune in again tomorrow for another edition of the Daily Bible. Podcast. Congratulations. See you then. Happy New Year.
