It's around the house.
Speaker AOn this episode of around the House.
Speaker BPerfect texture was soft.
Speaker BIt was black.
Speaker BIt was just.
Speaker CBut not creepy.
Speaker COh, yeah, cool.
Speaker BNo cool.
Speaker CNot creepy.
Speaker CThat could be their new tagline.
Speaker BThere we go.
Speaker BThis is not creepy.
Speaker BLike the media room at the Greystone mansion.
Speaker COh yeah, we talked about that.
Speaker CThe other thing I love is the tub, the zero gravity.
Speaker BOh, I should have brought a swimsuit.
Speaker BI'd have jumped in that thing.
Speaker BIt looks.
Speaker CYeah, it feels from the back and it goes right over your shoulders and your neck shoulders.
Speaker COh my gosh.
Speaker CThat's amazing.
Speaker BAgain, it looks like the right size, the right shape.
Speaker BThere is not a more comfortable looking.
Speaker AWhen it comes to remodeling or renovating your home.
Speaker AThere is a lot to know and we have got you covered.
Speaker AThis is around the House.
Speaker BWelcome to the round the house show.
Speaker BThe next generation of home improvement.
Speaker BI'm Eric G.
Speaker BThanks for joining me today.
Speaker BThis is going to be a great episode.
Speaker BBut first this hour is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grill.
Speaker BCheck them out for your brand new barbecue@monument grills.com and we have an old friend of the show back today.
Speaker BThis is going to be a lot of fun.
Speaker BWe are diving into design and everything about your home.
Speaker BWendy Glacier.
Speaker BWendy Glacier interiors rockstar interior designer.
Speaker BWelcome back to around the House.
Speaker CEric, you're so nice.
Speaker CI have to have my husband and my son listen to this so I can say look guys, I'm important to.
Speaker BSo all the family members never know how important you are.
Speaker CIt's a totally separate life.
Speaker CBut yeah.
Speaker CThank you so much for having me back.
Speaker CI really appreciate.
Speaker CI can't wait to talk about K biz.
Speaker CIt was so cool.
Speaker BThis is gonna be so fun.
Speaker BAnd for you guys out there that don't know what when he's talking about this is the kitchen and bath industry show.
Speaker BIt is a monster trade show.
Speaker BThey paired up with the the building show as well which is the IBS which is not some kind of medical condition.
Speaker BIt is the international building show and they call it design and construction week when they put it all together.
Speaker BAnd if you want great cardio for walking, this is the place to go because I using the Tesla tunnel this year I walked 30 miles around the show and I cheated a lot.
Speaker BTaken the Tesla loop tunnel between the halls.
Speaker COh wow.
Speaker CThat's incredible.
Speaker CYou know what?
Speaker CI've never ever used those and I am sad.
Speaker CI need to maybe when it comes back to Vegas in two years.
Speaker BYeah, and we'll talk about that too.
Speaker BBut it's so great.
Speaker BYou could be at the south hall and go, I need to be in the west hall in five minutes, which is literally a mile away.
Speaker BAnd I'm there in three.
Speaker BBoom, you're back, you're in and you're in there.
Speaker BSo it's super fast to get back and forth.
Speaker BAnd so I could do meetings between the north Central hall and the west hall by just bouncing back and forth between those.
Speaker BAnd you could really make use of your time a lot better and not have that 20, 25 minute walk between those places.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BSo pretty crazy.
Speaker BBut this was a great show.
Speaker BThere's what, two, two and a half million square feet of stuff?
Speaker BThere's.
Speaker BWhen you think about it, like, the Kohler booth is about an acre of size if you want to compare it to your lot.
Speaker BAnd it looks like the craziest, nuttiest, high end house that they've built for show.
Speaker BAnd if you want to see what some of those pictures look like this next year, I think Kohler takes every one of their pictures for all their marketing stuff.
Speaker BSo everything you see we'll see on Kohler.com of these crazy spaces is usually taken from the show.
Speaker CIt's a really impressive booth.
Speaker CI take a tour every year of Interior Design Society members through capis.
Speaker CMost of them it's meant as an introductory tour for like, designers who are primarily light fixtures, area rugs, case goods, sofas, upholstery, and who would like to bring kitchen and bath into their repertoire of offerings.
Speaker CBut it's pretty intimidating if you've never before.
Speaker CSo we take everyone through and it was incredible to see all of the beautiful things.
Speaker CIt's fun every year and what we've learned to do is like those huge, like mega displays like ge, Monogram and Kohler and even sometimes Cosentino.
Speaker CWe say these are important places to visit.
Speaker CBut go back after we've done this tour because there's no way we could get you through that booth and have you see all these other critical things that you need to see in order to grow the business.
Speaker CIt's wild.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI mean, yeah.
Speaker BAnd I will say my complaint about the Kohler booth as I gush over it for a minute is that I can never get in there and really see what's going on because it is.
Speaker BYou're walking into your favorite concert, it's jam packed.
Speaker BThere's no way to see anything.
Speaker BI don't shoot any media in there because it's just impossible.
Speaker BThere's no way to get in there during show hours.
Speaker BBecause It's.
Speaker BYou've got 12 people standing in your way and you're literally trying.
Speaker BIt's like your front row of a concert trying to see something.
Speaker BIt's just, it's hard to navigate for anybody in there.
Speaker BAnd that's my complaint about it is it just, it's so tight and it's so great.
Speaker BYou just can't really get in and see a lot of it easily.
Speaker CI have found if you go Thursday, a lot of places clear out and you can get a lot more up close and personal, not only with the products, but also the reps and talk a little bit more to the manufacturers and it seems to be really helpful.
Speaker BYeah, Thursday afternoon is money hitting those places because yeah, you know, you can get in there.
Speaker BThe problem though is if you want to meet somebody that's like management or somebody that, that is a decision maker and something like that, they've already left the building, they're gone for the day, so they bail out as well.
Speaker BSo a lot of the people are in there are the Monday or the Tuesday, Wednesday people of the three day event.
Speaker BThursday is the best.
Speaker BBut yeah, that is the time to get in there and see stuff.
Speaker BYeah, but there was so much great stuff around there.
Speaker BWhat were some of the things that, that blew your mind?
Speaker CIn the interest of full disclosure, I was the first North American brand ambassador for this.
Speaker CBut it was after asking them to please let me be for like three years that zip Water.
Speaker CI continue to be amazed and thrilled by Zipwater and it really was that I chased them down.
Speaker CI'm not a brand ambassador as I don't really know how to do.
Speaker CI'm a designer and that's the focus and that's my business core.
Speaker CBut the first time that we went through Caybus for that Interior Design Society tour, it was in Orlando and we were all very tired.
Speaker CAnd as like Cabez, there is no food or water.
Speaker CIt's harder than high point to get through, in my opinion.
Speaker CAnd we came up on zip water and it was this sparkling, filtered, chilled and boiling water and it was like an oasis in the desert.
Speaker BAbsolutely.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd we got to know the team and they're great.
Speaker CAnd then over the years I've learned all the neat things it can do.
Speaker CLike you can cook fish and not even turn on your stove.
Speaker CYou can cook asparagus or whatever.
Speaker CAnd it's just really, you can sterilize your wood cutting boards.
Speaker CBecause now I guess we're not supposed to use plastic anymore because that's bad for you, right?
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd I just.
Speaker CI loved it.
Speaker CIt was really fun this year because last year they introduced the hydro tap that also has the regular hot and cold supply in it.
Speaker CAnd it was.
Speaker CIt's so great.
Speaker CBut it was also so much pressure on the team because last year was the first year that there was just, like, it was hard to get everything done and get through this year because they've already won multiple awards for it.
Speaker CAnd they even have that really cool.
Speaker CThere's a special word for it that I should know, like a coil system so the little spray nozzle doesn't get stuck anymore.
Speaker CNow everybody was, like, relaxed and they could enjoy it.
Speaker CAnd it's starting to pick up momentum.
Speaker CPeople are starting to really understand how cool it is.
Speaker CAnd it was just fun to know that I could be a part of that.
Speaker CAnd.
Speaker CYeah, so that was probably one of the highlights.
Speaker CI have a lot more, but that was probably the biggest one.
Speaker BWe're just getting started.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd I got.
Speaker BI'll be honest, I need to pay more attention to them.
Speaker BI'm aware of them, but I haven't played with their stuff.
Speaker BSo I.
Speaker BYou've now talked me into doing that.
Speaker COh, Eric, it's so cool.
Speaker CAnd then they also have this little tiny drain.
Speaker CSo if you don't want to do the whole shebang with the hot and cold supply, also everything integrated, you can do the tap.
Speaker CThat's the filtered boiling, sparkling and cold water.
Speaker CAnd they have this tiny little flat drain.
Speaker CIt's like this big.
Speaker CAnd it's so sleek and snazzy.
Speaker CAnd you can put it anywhere.
Speaker CA lot of my clients are using them as pot fillers, actually.
Speaker CCause it's instantly boiling.
Speaker CAnd then they don't have to wait because all the old Italian grandmas say a watch pot never boils.
Speaker BBoils, Exactly.
Speaker CSo this year it's already.
Speaker CBut yeah, I think you would love it.
Speaker CIt just makes.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker CIt makes working in your kitchen so much easier.
Speaker CAnd it's shocking.
Speaker CYou don't realize until it's in your kitchen.
Speaker CLike, holy cow, where have you been all my life?
Speaker BAbsolutely.
Speaker BAbsolutely.
Speaker BI have a company like that.
Speaker BI worked with Z Line appliances around the house.
Speaker AWe'll be right back after these important messages.
Speaker ATo find out more about us, head to aroundthehouse online dot com.
Speaker AWe'll be right back with more from Wendy Glacier and Wendy Glister.
Speaker BInteriors be allowed to be so hot.
Speaker BSo many people without.
Speaker AWelcome back to the around the House show.
Speaker AThe next generation of home improvement.
Speaker AI'm Eric G.
Speaker AThis hour is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grills to check out the latest in outdoor grilling technology.
Speaker ACheck them out@monumentgrills.com now let's get back to my friend Wendy Glasester from Wendy Glacier Interiors.
Speaker AWe talk design trends that we saw at the kitchen and bass show for 2025.
Speaker BI have a company like that.
Speaker BI worked with Z Line Appliances.
Speaker COh, they're cool.
Speaker BWhy?
Speaker BI found them in 2019, 2020 when I was finally doing my kitchen project and they were brand new, but they're west coast.
Speaker BAnd I went, let's play around with that.
Speaker BSo I put in their 48 inch dual fuel range.
Speaker BI put in the 40 inch hood, I did the micro drawer, the dishwasher, that kind of stuff in my.
Speaker BThey didn't even have refrigeration yet, which was cool.
Speaker BAnd I had one of their first 48 inch ranges.
Speaker BIt was so new that when I would need to get stuff for it or do something, they'd go, what's your model number?
Speaker BAnd I'm like, this is so new.
Speaker BThere's not a model number on it.
Speaker CWow.
Speaker BIt just has 48 inch range.
Speaker BSo there was not a serial number, model number or anything on it.
Speaker BIt was just that.
Speaker BSo it was cool.
Speaker BBut it is fun to watch a company that started up back then and grow because I had a couple issues with my range and it's like buying a first year model car back then.
Speaker BThat was their first range.
Speaker BYeah, you have a couple little hiccups.
Speaker BBut you know, the cool thing about it was is they just always took care of it.
Speaker BThey were Johnny on the spot.
Speaker BBoom.
Speaker BI'll get a service person out there.
Speaker BThey took care of it.
Speaker BI had a couple little adjustment things where I was trying to get the range to adjust.
Speaker BMy range was well out of warranty and I went, hey, can I get a couple parts?
Speaker BI'm going to try to fix this.
Speaker BThey went, nope.
Speaker BThey shipped me a replacement range.
Speaker COh my gosh.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BAnd that's the level of service.
Speaker CI think that's part of the joy of Cave is if you do find something that's super interesting to you and you want to learn about it and you engage with the team and you hit it off.
Speaker CThose relationships, they're great for you, but they're also great for your clients because if you run into a problem, you've had this friend that you met at KBIS and you have their card or it's in your phone and you can reach out to people because at that point you're not a one and done anymore.
Speaker CAnd.
Speaker BExactly.
Speaker CEspecially for designers, that's something that I run into a lot.
Speaker CAnd why, Honestly, I really rely on my local retailers because they're experts in their area and they're not a one and done.
Speaker CBut these KBIS relationships have been very unique for me.
Speaker CAnd in ways that, like, when I had the same kind of opportunity at High Point, it did not yield the same kind of trust or engagement that the engagement at KBIZ has afforded me.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd by the way, that new range they shipped out was next level.
Speaker BI mean, it's just.
Speaker BBut the details, it cooks 20 times better.
Speaker CWow.
Speaker BThey really got it dialed in.
Speaker BIt's okay.
Speaker BIn five years, they went from being a decent range to highly competing with ranges that are twice the price.
Speaker COh, wow.
Speaker CWhat a value.
Speaker BI'm cooking on it all the time.
Speaker BThe temperature is dialed in.
Speaker BThey change some dimensions and stuff on how the cooktop grate is, and it's a lot easier.
Speaker BIt gives you way more simmer power.
Speaker BIt was almost too hot when they first came out, and it really has that adjustment.
Speaker BI'm like, okay.
Speaker BThey literally added $5,000 of value to that range just in elevating it.
Speaker BAnd I'm like, solid.
Speaker BThere's a lot of value in that.
Speaker BOh, yeah, in that.
Speaker BSo it's cool.
Speaker CThat's really neat.
Speaker BBut now they've got wine fridges, outdoor cooking stuff.
Speaker BThey've got towers.
Speaker BThey got all the different stuff.
Speaker BSo it's fun with that.
Speaker BAnd it gives you another option here to work with, which I think is awesome because not everybody else wants to go out and buy the Mila, the Monogram, the Sub Zero, Wolf, whatever.
Speaker BAnd that really gives you an opportunity to play with something different.
Speaker BThat it's great customer service.
Speaker CYeah, that's great to know.
Speaker CI appreciate you letting him know about that.
Speaker BOh, that's a good one.
Speaker BAnd here's a little trick too, for any of you designers, contractors out there.
Speaker BIn the afternoon, after about 1:00, the secret is to go over to the builder's side of the show because that's where you can get your wine, beer, and refreshments.
Speaker BAfter about 1:00, and they're handing them out, you stop by the Angie's List Booth at about 2 and they usually got a bartender over there and you can get whatever you'd like.
Speaker BThat's my secret to navigating as I cruise over that way.
Speaker CYeah, that's so funny.
Speaker CYeah, it's.
Speaker CIt's desert wasteland, designer side.
Speaker CIt's a killer.
Speaker BAnd if you find a place that's going to sell you water, it's going to be $20 for a bottle of water anyway.
Speaker BYou think going to the football stadium or the baseball stadium to go catch something's bad, walk into the convention hall in there.
Speaker CYou're right.
Speaker BThere's nothing inexpensive in that town anymore.
Speaker BThat is the one thing about Las Vegas.
Speaker BEverything is expensive.
Speaker BSo yeah.
Speaker BBut there was a lot of great stuff on the technology side for me, something that I saw that was cool.
Speaker BAnd it's not really the key biz side, but it was on the, on the building side of it.
Speaker BBut it's all stuff we deal with in a home.
Speaker BIt was fun to watch the cold weather heat pumps really blow up and shine.
Speaker BOh, like it was cool.
Speaker BYou could put a heat pump now.
Speaker BAnd I was over at the carrier booth, for instance.
Speaker BAnd at the carrier booth they had something that was certified by the government to operate Cleanly at negative 13 degrees without turning on emergency heat.
Speaker BAnd they're like, wow, we know it works at minus 20, but we got it certified to minus 13.
Speaker CWow.
Speaker BAnd so that was like, I think that was DOE certified or something like that for that.
Speaker BAnd I'm like, okay, so people that are in the northern states that are in maybe South Dakota or Maine or Minnesota, you guys out there have some options now.
Speaker BStuff that's getting down there.
Speaker BAnd yes, of course you do get below that from time to time.
Speaker BBut then your emergency heat kicks on and you're not going to get the savings.
Speaker BBut now you've really made it where it's much more cost effective to be able to put a heat pump in and not have to rely on that gas heat.
Speaker BIf you're trying to go something that's more working with your solar or whatever else you got going on, that might be a better option for you.
Speaker CWow, that's amazing.
Speaker BSo that was fun.
Speaker BThat was when I was like, okay, that's cool.
Speaker BThat's cool.
Speaker BA lot of that new tech.
Speaker BThey also had a people that are putting in like a hydronic system where they're putting in heated floors or something like that.
Speaker BThey had a unit that was basically freestanding.
Speaker BSo you put the compressor in outside, that looks like a large AC unit outside.
Speaker BAnd the two water lines came out in the power.
Speaker BSo there was no line set that went into everything.
Speaker BIt was all outside.
Speaker BAnd so the water came in into the system.
Speaker BAnd then they had a big huge tank that looked like about a 100 gallon tank.
Speaker BAnd it was your water for your heated floors or Your heated driveway, if you're in one of those climates.
Speaker BAnd then it had the hot water for the house as well.
Speaker BSo it was doing that and it was heating using heat pump technology so much more.
Speaker BSo you could go hydronic with a heat pump.
Speaker BAnd it was all self contained, so there's no Freon sets or like you see with an air conditioner messing around.
Speaker BIt was super clean and there was just one little tiny control box that was, geez, not that big.
Speaker BIt went on the wall and it was all self.
Speaker BAll the valves were in that and everything.
Speaker BIt was like, okay, that's a super cool deal.
Speaker BSo that was another one of those things.
Speaker BI'm like, all right, that's pretty slick.
Speaker BThat's pretty slick.
Speaker BFun technology.
Speaker BSo.
Speaker CWell, way on the other side of technology when you're talking about.
Speaker CI think it's really fun to tell stories in the design that I try to put together and have something interesting to say about what I selected and why.
Speaker CAnd so one of my favorite places for the stops this year was native trails.
Speaker CHave you been there?
Speaker BOh, yes.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo woman owned.
Speaker BThose guys are mind blowing.
Speaker BEvery time I walk there, I'm like, you did what?
Speaker CYes.
Speaker CSo woman owned.
Speaker CShe started when she was in college because she'd go on a family vacation to Mexico with her family every year.
Speaker CAnd she figured out how to do all this incredible manufacturing production.
Speaker CIt's earth friendly, it's incredible stuff.
Speaker CIt's super durable.
Speaker CAnd the thing that I love, maybe because California and the romance of wine, even though apparently that's not great for you anymore either.
Speaker BBut that's my wine's my spirit.
Speaker BApple with whiskey.
Speaker ASo we're good around the house.
Speaker AWe right back after these important messages.
Speaker ATo find out more about us, head to aroundthehouse online dot com.
Speaker AWe'll be right back with more more from Wendy Glacier and Wendy Glacier Interiors.
Speaker AWelcome back to the around the house show.
Speaker AThe next generation of home improvement.
Speaker AThanks for joining me today.
Speaker AI'm Eric G.
Speaker AWe've been talking about the latest trends with Wendy Glister.
Speaker AWendy Glister Interiors.
Speaker AAnd don't forget, this hour is brought to you by our friends at Monty McGrills.
Speaker ACheck them out at Monument Grills.
Speaker ANow let's get back to the program.
Speaker BThat's my wine's my spirit animal with whiskey.
Speaker BSo we're good.
Speaker CI don't care.
Speaker BI'm going for it.
Speaker CMiracle.
Speaker CThere's got to be something to that, right?
Speaker BYeah, absolutely.
Speaker CBut she had the coolest idea to take the wood from the Wine.
Speaker COak wine casks when they're used up and treat them and then use them as this beautiful woven front for the new vanities that they're doing.
Speaker CAnd it's so beautiful.
Speaker CSo between her story and the story of these oak wine cats, these incredible barrels, and it's so much fun.
Speaker CAnd so I came back, and I was telling a client about it, and she's all excited, and we're going to use it in her powder room already, but it's really cool.
Speaker CAnd I love also that freestanding concrete tube.
Speaker BOh, yeah.
Speaker CSo pretty.
Speaker BI just don't want to move it, but it's gorgeous.
Speaker CYou have to be.
Speaker CYeah, you definitely have to plan.
Speaker CYou have to work on reinforcing your foundation if you're not a slab.
Speaker CIf you're on a second story, you need engineering, but it really makes.
Speaker BI'll be on vacation on install day, so don't call me.
Speaker CJust get a cool forklift with the palette and let the guys go at it.
Speaker BBut let them go at it.
Speaker BAbsolutely.
Speaker BAbsolutely.
Speaker BAnd then this year, I finally got to meet you face to face, which is awesome.
Speaker CAt our favorite place, Toto.
Speaker CThat was awesome.
Speaker BOf course.
Speaker CAnd Stephanie just loved you, too.
Speaker CAnd it was just really fun to finally meet you guys in person.
Speaker CAnd.
Speaker BYeah, I wish I could have more time.
Speaker BI was juggling a live shot that I was doing with Roger Wakefield over there I was doing for the TV show.
Speaker BSo I was like, hey, okay, I got two minutes.
Speaker CIt was one of those, you're a man in demand, and you have a.
Speaker BIt's just doing my thing, but thank you.
Speaker BBut, yeah, no, it was fun.
Speaker BAnd Roger's a great guy.
Speaker BHe's the.
Speaker BI would say, as far as the social media influencers.
Speaker BAnd I want to call him an influencer because he is a licensed plumber as well.
Speaker BBut he's just that guy out there.
Speaker BHe's not the.
Speaker BOh, I do plumbing, and I'm an influencer.
Speaker BHe's the kind of God of plumbing out there and really promotes the trades and stuff.
Speaker BAnd I.
Speaker BI knew him.
Speaker BI actually met Roger.
Speaker BHe showed up at one of my seminars before he was uber famous with millions of followers.
Speaker BHe showed up at Cabez when I was over on the builder side giving home tech seminars.
Speaker BHe sat through a couple of my things.
Speaker BI'm like this character I need to meet and went over and talked to him.
Speaker BIt was in Florida last time we're in Florida.
Speaker BSo it was a while ago and hit it off since then.
Speaker BAnd during COVID when we could barely Travel.
Speaker BI had to go down and pick up a puppy.
Speaker BAnd.
Speaker BBecause my old neighbors lived down there in the same town in Texas.
Speaker BAnd I flew down, and then I went over his studio and did a bunch of video stuff way back then.
Speaker BAnd it was just fun.
Speaker BBut I love being over in Toto, seeing all my friends over there, meeting you.
Speaker BAnd it is always fun to go through there.
Speaker BAnd I go through and do something with Bill every year.
Speaker BWe go around and talk about the new products.
Speaker BYou know, give our mutual friend Charlie a big hug.
Speaker CYeah, they.
Speaker BAnd so she is the.
Speaker BShe is the conductor to that orchestra.
Speaker CI got to see her two days in a row, and it was like, oh, a friend.
Speaker CI'm so grateful.
Speaker CA friend of relief.
Speaker CBut their booth, the thing I really, really love.
Speaker CThere's two things there.
Speaker CIt's.
Speaker CThey had three things that really stood out to me.
Speaker COne was all the colored sinks.
Speaker CThat was really cute.
Speaker BThose were gorgeous.
Speaker CHave you seen that quartzite?
Speaker CIt has mauve and lavender and moss green and gray and white.
Speaker CIt's just so beautiful.
Speaker CAnd I thought, oh, my gosh.
Speaker CThat would be the countertop to use for any of those sinks.
Speaker CIt would look so beautiful, right?
Speaker CIf you're brave enough to use color.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker CIf you're not really a color person.
Speaker CI've never liked those shiny black toilets.
Speaker BLike, I didn't like the shiny black toilets when they came out, when Kohler came out with them.
Speaker BAnd I was never a fan of those because they just look too, like, weird Las Vegas or if I was in the Oakland Raiders locker room or something.
Speaker BIt just wasn't my bag back then.
Speaker CBut the matte black in the Neo, Right?
Speaker BI wanted to steal that and try to get that on the plane, or somebody would.
Speaker BIf people would have left long enough, I'd have tried to put that in my luggage.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BI'm like, I want that now.
Speaker CSuper moody, cool powder rooms.
Speaker CThe little jewel box type things that are so fun.
Speaker CThat's perfect for that.
Speaker CAnd I.
Speaker CThat was.
Speaker BI'd have that in every bathroom in my house.
Speaker BWith that, I was just.
Speaker BI was like, now it was that just perfect.
Speaker BTexture was soft.
Speaker BIt was black.
Speaker BIt was just.
Speaker CBut not creamy cool.
Speaker CNo, cool, not creepy.
Speaker CThat could be their new tagline.
Speaker BThere we go.
Speaker BThis is not creepy.
Speaker BLike the media room at the Greystone Mansion.
Speaker COh, yeah, we talked about that.
Speaker CThe other thing I love is the tub.
Speaker CThe zero gravity.
Speaker BI should have brought a swimsuit.
Speaker BI'd have jumped in that thing.
Speaker BIt looks so cool because it feels.
Speaker CFrom the back and it goes right over your shoulders and your neck shoulders.
Speaker COh my gosh.
Speaker CThat's amazing.
Speaker BAgain, it looks like the right size, the right shape.
Speaker BThere is not a more comfortable looking tub when you look at.
Speaker CWell, they did a lot of work like research and studying and all of the.
Speaker CIt was toto.
Speaker BThey research everything 100 times before it comes out.
Speaker BAnd that's why they've been the leader of toilets since the beginning of time.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd so many people out there still to this day because they don't see it in the home centers go who?
Speaker BIt's like they're the number one in the world.
Speaker BWhat are you talking about?
Speaker BWhy don't you know that?
Speaker BYou know.
Speaker BBut.
Speaker BAnd I, the other thing I like too is how they kind of reimagined the washlets too.
Speaker BThey really elevated some of those more entry and mid level line ones too.
Speaker BSo it's not just the, the over the top.
Speaker BAwesome.
Speaker CNo.
Speaker CWow.
Speaker BI don't know if I want to spend that much money on a super high end toilet.
Speaker BIt's the wow.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BWe're revision re envisioning stuff that's that under $700 range stuff.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd they always have that contest to see who wins and can install it the fastest because it's supposed to take like under five minutes if you don't even know what you're doing.
Speaker CAnd I have to tell you that I'm not brave enough to, to participate in that because I am solidly in the designer space and have a lot of respect for all the traits.
Speaker CAll I do is just think up cute stuff.
Speaker CI need friends to help me execute.
Speaker CBut under five minutes if you, even if you don't even have any experience and the ways that it changes your life.
Speaker CI, I just, I do ask all my clients now to include that if they're not doing the Neorest because of the long term benefits.
Speaker CAnd I just feel, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker CI'm not a good helper or designer if I'm not educating people about the just simple things that we can do that change their health and their wellness in their own home.
Speaker BSo anyway, yeah, every project I did, whether they wanted it or not, I snuck in the outlet behind the toilet just in case.
Speaker BThen, then they go, oh, what's that outlet for down there?
Speaker BOh, it's just in case you want to come in with.
Speaker BThere's so much new smart stuff coming out these days.
Speaker BI gave the option so you could plug it in down the road.
Speaker BAnd they go, oh, thank you.
Speaker CIt's my service.
Speaker BI did the Same thing with kitchens, though, with people.
Speaker BAnd go, I am not putting in a dishwasher.
Speaker COh, I.
Speaker BOn the other side of the sink, I always put a.
Speaker BAnd I'd get two a year.
Speaker BI'm not putting one of those things in.
Speaker BI like to do my dishes by hand.
Speaker BBlah, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker BThey never work.
Speaker BI've heard them all.
Speaker BAnd I would always sneak in a 24 inch cabinet on the other side and I do finished ends on the other cabinets.
Speaker BAnd I would never tell them I did it.
Speaker BIt was my gift.
Speaker BTo the next homeowner.
Speaker CI just say.
Speaker CI just.
Speaker CMaybe it's their house.
Speaker BAwesome.
Speaker BIf you don't want to do it, cool.
Speaker BI'm just going to make it so it's easy for the next people to fix, honestly.
Speaker CAnd somebody usually along the lines of something like resale and you have to just like, this is not.
Speaker CPeople don't want to have to redo their whole kitchen so they can have a dishwasher, which is to most people normal.
Speaker COh, that.
Speaker BOh.
Speaker CThe zip water helped me so much this summer.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CBecause the.
Speaker CMy dishwasher died and it's a Bosch and I love it.
Speaker BBut, yeah.
Speaker CI don't know, it took some time for the parts to come.
Speaker CAnd so here I was with my son and my husband and everyday life, and I kept sterilizing everything under that beautiful zip water thing.
Speaker CThank God.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BI am a.
Speaker BI'm a dishwasher person, too.
Speaker BI gotta have it.
Speaker BI gotta have it.
Speaker BIt's just.
Speaker BIt's not working.
Speaker BIt's down.
Speaker BIf it's.
Speaker BIf I can't get parts for two weeks, guess what?
Speaker BI'm getting another one.
Speaker BUnless it's brand new and it's under warranty, guess what?
Speaker BIt's coming out.
Speaker BI'm gonna go down and get something.
Speaker BI'll go get my Bosch or Mila or whatever from someplace.
Speaker BNo and yes.
Speaker BYou get what you pay for with dishwashers.
Speaker BThat's one of the true things.
Speaker BWith it.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker BYou are not gonna go out and get an amazing dishwasher for a low price out there.
Speaker BIt's that fact I just saw in.
Speaker CThe New York Times wire cutter.
Speaker CThat cove, which is like sub zero Wolf Cove rates like the top of the top and then Bosch.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BAnd that's awesome.
Speaker CThose cove ones, my clients, I think four different families have installed them in their kitchens and they love them.
Speaker BI know it took them forever to get into that with that sub zero Wolf did.
Speaker BAnd finally when they jumped in, it was like, okay, cool.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAt least they did it well.
Speaker CThey're the top of the top of the New York Times wire cutters, so they can't be doing too bad around the house.
Speaker AWe'll be right back after these important messages.
Speaker ATo find out more about us, head to aroundthehouse online dot com.
Speaker AWe'll be right back with more from Wendy Glaster and Wendy Glacier Interiors.
Speaker AWelcome back to the around the house show, the next generation of home improvement.
Speaker AI'm Eric G.
Speaker AThis hour is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grills to check out the latest in outdoor grilling technology.
Speaker ACheck them out@monument grills.com now let's get back to my friend Wendy Glasester from Wendy Glacier Interiors.
Speaker AWe talk design trends that we saw at the kitchen and bash show for 2025.
Speaker BI don't know how my explanation.
Speaker BHere's my explanat to him.
Speaker BI go, do you love good sausage?
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAll right.
Speaker BYou're going to watch from start to finish, from the animal to here to sitting on your breakfast brunch plate.
Speaker CIt's pretty.
Speaker BYou're going to see the process.
Speaker BIt's going to be painful at times.
Speaker BYou're going to want to look away.
Speaker BBut we got sausage.
Speaker CI am going to use that if it's okay.
Speaker CI think me especially saying that people are going to be like, holy cow, she must really be.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BWe're gonna start from the animal to your brunch platter, and there's gonna be times you're gonna look away because it's gonna be hard to watch.
Speaker BBut we're in this together and we're gonna have a great brunch in the end.
Speaker BThat is so good.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker CI just, I need them to hear me, like, in what?
Speaker BAnd then you can text them.
Speaker BWhen they text, you go, this is that time you're supposed to be looking away.
Speaker BIt's gonna be fine.
Speaker BAnd they'll go, oh, yeah, I was warned for that.
Speaker CDo you find that happens a lot when the tile goes in, but it hasn't been grouted yet?
Speaker COh, tile, that's hard.
Speaker BCabinetry goes in, but the trim's not on yet.
Speaker BThere's a door missing.
Speaker CYep.
Speaker BI trained my installers when the cabinetry went in that if there was something that was damaged, you take it off the cabinet and put it in the back of your truck as quickly as you can and wrap it up on the job site and get it out there and I'll drive to wherever your truck is.
Speaker BBut I don't want the homeowner Staring at it because they're going to look at it like it's a dent in.
Speaker CTheir brand new Mercedes out every other day.
Speaker BThey're going to, they're going to freak out and it's.
Speaker BI'm going to handle it.
Speaker BYou're going to have something.
Speaker BYou'll never see it.
Speaker BAnd I'm not trying to hide something from.
Speaker BI'm just trying to make them not feel the pain of that.
Speaker CWhen we're resolving, we would never leave it imperfect.
Speaker BNo.
Speaker BI'm like, get it out of here.
Speaker BThey go, hey, this showed up wrong.
Speaker BGet it out of here.
Speaker CYeah, it's.
Speaker BGet it out of the building.
Speaker CYeah, agreed.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BSo it was just trying to emotion control the job site.
Speaker BThat's how I did it.
Speaker CYou know, man, I'm using that.
Speaker CIf that's.
Speaker BYeah, please.
Speaker BIt's a, it was a valuable tool that I used a lot.
Speaker BHey, this is not going to be pretty.
Speaker BBut you got to, you just got to make it through that, you know.
Speaker CEspecially this little family that I know I'm going to go back to in April.
Speaker BYep.
Speaker CThank you, Eric.
Speaker BYep.
Speaker BWe all have those.
Speaker CSee, I'm so grateful.
Speaker BYeah, it's.
Speaker BI don't know, you know how it is.
Speaker BYou've been in the trenches so long, you just figure it out.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CBut I mean that I think the visual picture is very important and that's something I haven't been able, like just saying to somebody, don't worry, I've got you.
Speaker COkay.
Speaker CBut saying we're gonna make sausage together and there are parts of this you're not gonna want to see that.
Speaker CThat really makes.
Speaker BIt's a powerful visual.
Speaker BIt's a powerful visual.
Speaker BBack to kbis, though.
Speaker BThere was one thing I noticed, and I don't know if you noticed this, but I noticed it a lot.
Speaker BI think because of silica.
Speaker BI saw some companies bailing out of quartz.
Speaker CYes.
Speaker BIt was two years ago.
Speaker BIt was quartz everywhere with porcelain coming on strong.
Speaker BAnd I walked past the dupont booth and I was there, launch customer for their porcelain product.
Speaker BWe were the first ones.
Speaker BWe put it in.
Speaker BIt was great.
Speaker BThat's the dupont Endura and it's not even on their website today there.
Speaker BThey usually showed.
Speaker BAt that show, they would show half building science, which was the tieback and flashing, and they would show half Corian quartz and slab porcelain.
Speaker BThis year it was 90% building science.
Speaker BIn kind of the back corner of the booth, they had a little bit of interesting quartz and a little bit of Corian.
Speaker BAnd I was like.
Speaker BAnd Again, I'm not speaking for Dupont here, so I want to be really clear, but I was like, are you even in that game?
Speaker BIs that something that you're even.
Speaker BYou know, it just.
Speaker BIt was an afterthought for the.
Speaker BFor that side.
Speaker BAnd I thought that was an interesting shift, especially when they spent so much money to roll that out.
Speaker BAnd it went for three years and I can't even find it on their website anymore.
Speaker BYeah, it's interesting.
Speaker COn that tour we went to Neolith and that's the ultra compact surface.
Speaker CAnd that is beautiful.
Speaker CThat has no silica.
Speaker BExactly.
Speaker CAnd it's super durable.
Speaker CMore durable than quartz.
Speaker CEverybody used to say quartz is the magic wand for a kitchen, but it's really not.
Speaker CYou know, it still absorbs oils, it can still stain, and people just didn't talk about it.
Speaker CAnd it's gonna kill your favorite installer with all the silica.
Speaker CAnd so the things that we saw at Neolith were just beautiful and nothing like you.
Speaker CYou're not losing out on anything.
Speaker CYou're not getting less or you're getting more.
Speaker CAnd it's safer for the environment and it's safer for the people that we love and work with all the time.
Speaker CI was so happy to be there.
Speaker CAnd they did this incredible wall.
Speaker CSorry.
Speaker CWith a GNC machine that did all gorgeous dimensional with the flowers.
Speaker BGorgeous.
Speaker CIt was so pretty.
Speaker BSo I think the next industry that is going to get nailed on the silica is the stone core flooring guys.
Speaker COh.
Speaker BBecause I went around and started calling about a year ago.
Speaker BAll the major flooring companies got into their technical department and asked for the silica content in their stone core.
Speaker BI did not get one that could say there was none.
Speaker BAnd I did not get one that could get me the information because none of them knew what it was.
Speaker BAnd that's from the technical department and they said it was post recycled stone.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BThat tells me silica.
Speaker BUnless you could prove it otherwise.
Speaker CThat's interesting.
Speaker BSo the contractors out there that are cutting it with a saw, maybe not as much snapping it, but the ones that are cutting that with a saw, that might be silica dust going throughout your entire house.
Speaker BOn the job site, I've heard there's.
Speaker CA lot of actual.
Speaker CThere's a lot of warranty calls on that as well.
Speaker CI have a really sweet friend, Amelia Wallace, who's my flooring expert.
Speaker CShe does everything we do and there's a real movement away from that.
Speaker CAnd just doing very well.
Speaker CEngineered, high quality hardwood floor.
Speaker CAnd not doing.
Speaker BI agree.
Speaker BBecause it's just I put in here quickly because I had a floor that I love that matched my hardwoods.
Speaker BDownstairs on my upper floor, I had some remodeling to do, and I'm like, ah, it's not.
Speaker BI'm not at the point where I knew I was moving some walls.
Speaker BI'm not going to do this.
Speaker BI just put down click together.
Speaker BNice, high quality click together commercially rated.
Speaker BAnd it still likes to come apart.
Speaker BAnd I put it in myself.
Speaker BIt was right.
Speaker BAnd it still.
Speaker BTraffic areas, likes to move a little bit.
Speaker BAnd it's like.
Speaker BAnd stair treads.
Speaker BThose lasted only a couple years because the dogs would scratch through it on the edges and it was just like, okay, this is not kind of like quartz.
Speaker BIt's not as durable as what they say it is on those situations.
Speaker CNo, that's tricky.
Speaker CAll those things.
Speaker COr people just think it's like the end all be all.
Speaker CBut really, it's very hard to beat natural material, like beautiful quartzite and natural stone with all the movement and the color and the depth, and it's just so fantastic.
Speaker CAnd it's hard for people to understand because I think everyone heard quartz chords for so long.
Speaker CNow they hear natural stone and they think, oh, is that like marble?
Speaker CIt's going to fall apart.
Speaker CNo, this is heavy duty.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker CAnd spectacular and unique to you.
Speaker CNo one else is going to have this.
Speaker CSo 100%.
Speaker CThat's fun.
Speaker B100%.
Speaker BAll right, Wendy, we're starting to run out of time.
Speaker BAny more things that we got in this episode?
Speaker BBecause I don't want to turn this into the next Joe Rogan experiment here.
Speaker BNo.
Speaker CJust gratitude for Cavez and all the wonderful people and to be back here with you again.
Speaker CAnd it's just fun.
Speaker CYou see all these new, beautiful things.
Speaker CYou can't wait to bring them home to your clients and the stories.
Speaker CAnd it just makes design more fun, more interesting.
Speaker CIt has greater depth and meaning, and I always appreciate that.
Speaker BSo, yeah, the design shows up everywhere.
Speaker BLike, I was over to Infinity Drains looking at their stuff, and it's like, gorgeous drain stuff.
Speaker BAll those new textures and the drain stuff and all this weird stuff.
Speaker BYou're like, wow, you made drains sexy.
Speaker BAnd you don't see that out there.
Speaker BAnd it's cute.
Speaker CAnd they'll ship it in two weeks.
Speaker COh, your drain goes wall to wall.
Speaker CIt's not.
Speaker COh, sorry, we ran out of room.
Speaker CIt's good licking.
Speaker BHow many times?
Speaker BMy house.
Speaker BI was getting ready to do one of those with them, and I was going to do the drain that way.
Speaker BAnd I got the floor opened and I went, ain't gonna happen the way I was gonna do it.
Speaker BBecause I had.
Speaker BI.
Speaker BI thought about it when I was opening up.
Speaker BI'm like, oh, I think this is in a bad spot.
Speaker BI get down there, it's, oh, there's my duct for my 1200 CFM hood.
Speaker BThere's in the floor cavity.
Speaker BI got two can lights.
Speaker BI got all this plumbing going through there, and it was like, ain't happening.
Speaker BSo sometimes it's good to be able to do that where you can dive into the project, get it ordered, get it in there.
Speaker BAnd they're good.
Speaker CYeah, really good.
Speaker CThanks so much, Eric.
Speaker CIt's great to see you again.
Speaker BGreat to see you.
Speaker BAnd how do people like in California that want to have you on their next project?
Speaker BHow do they find you?
Speaker CVery easy.
Speaker CLast name is a little harder, but it's Wendy Glasester Interiors.
Speaker CG L A I S T E R.
Speaker CI'm on the web, and the same on Instagram.
Speaker CAnd we actually do work all over the country now, and that's been a lot of fun.
Speaker CSo we're ready.
Speaker CWe're ready to help.
Speaker BAll right, there we go.
Speaker BThanks, Wendy.
Speaker BIt's always fun on here.
Speaker BAnd it was finally great to see you.
Speaker CNice to see you too.
Speaker CThanks so much.
Speaker BAll right, everybody.
Speaker BI'm Eric G.
Speaker BAnd you've been listening to around the House.
