Speaker BHello and welcome to the Elevated Edit podcast.
Speaker BThis is a bit of an impromptu recording.
Speaker BI actually had not planned this episode out, certainly hadn't planned to do an episode right now.
Speaker BBut something hit me.
Speaker BAn idea hit me as I was working through something, and I'm like, you know what?
Speaker BThat would be such a good short episode.
Speaker BSo something that I'm gonna do a little humble brag for a second.
Speaker BSomething I feel, feel like I really excel at is the little finishing touches.
Speaker BI feel like I'm really good at adding a little spice at the end that either makes an experience memorable or makes a situation memorable.
Speaker BAnd I feel like I get complimented on that a lot.
Speaker BAnd people will say things like, oh, Blakely's so extra, or Blakely always, you know, goes above and beyond.
Speaker BAnd I think that people think that I just sit around and, like, have these, like, creative ideas just flow out of my head.
Speaker BAnd sometimes I do, but it doesn't happen accidentally.
Speaker BIt happens extremely intentionally.
Speaker BAnd it's because I give myself the time and the space to think things through, to have creative thoughts, to think ahead.
Speaker BSo I'm going to give you all an example.
Speaker BAnd this is kind of where the idea came from.
Speaker BI'm sitting here looking at the rest of my December.
Speaker BIt is December 9 on the day I'm recording this.
Speaker BSo I'm looking at the rest of my December, and I'm looking at January and end of December and all of January.
Speaker BI have a pretty packed travel schedule.
Speaker BAnd I love to look at travel, look at plans, get them on the calendar, and then really fine tune my days and plan ahead.
Speaker BAnd I feel like in that planning ahead, I allow myself to be creative.
Speaker BI allow myself to think big.
Speaker BI allow myself to come up with the really cool ideas that look like I am just the most creative person on the planet.
Speaker BBut in reality, I just give myself enough space for my brain to explore and think of these creative ideas.
Speaker BSo what I'll do is I'll put everything.
Speaker BI'll put all my schedule, like travel schedule in my Google calendar, and then I'll go back and I'll put the things that I know I'LL need to get done just in my everyday life.
Speaker BAnd I try to book appointments, I'll go ahead and plan meals.
Speaker BAt this point, with how advanced everything is, you can go ahead and schedule like grocery deliveries.
Speaker BYou can schedule everything out so far in advance.
Speaker BAnd for me, that allows me so much space and time.
Speaker BWhen I get closer to an event or when I get closer to a busy season, it kind of eliminates a lot of the stress and the panic that builds up when I'm trying to get something done.
Speaker BBut I have also all these personal obligations.
Speaker BIf I go ahead and take care of a lot of things beforehand, everything just seems to run so much smoother and then.
Speaker BSo this is a really, really good example of how giving yourself space and time sparks your creativity.
Speaker BSo I'm going to a paid ad summit in Georgia mid January, and I've got my ticket bought, my hotel room booked, and my plane ticket bought.
Speaker BAnd so I've, you know, got that on the calendar.
Speaker BWell, I've gone ahead and looked up some restaurants and look, if I get there and I see one that I love, can always change my mind.
Speaker BBut I have allowed myself to look on social media, read reviews, read menus, and I have cultivated like a really fun dining experience.
Speaker BWhile I'm also there for the summit, I've also looked up a couple other really fun things to do in the evening because I think the summit's from like nine to five every day.
Speaker BSo it'll be pretty intense with the involvement.
Speaker BBut that still gives me a high quality evening to spend time exploring.
Speaker BI might go for like a little.
Speaker BIt won't be a day trip, but a couple hour trip, like right outside of the town I'm staying.
Speaker BAnd so planning ahead allows you to be more creative with your time instead of getting there, rushing around not knowing what you're doing.
Speaker BAnd then you look up and you're like, oh, what am I going to have for dinner tonight?
Speaker BAnd you spend an hour trying to decide and then you've got to get there.
Speaker BAnd then, you know, you spent your whole evening, you really didn't get a lot done.
Speaker BAll you did was eat, which is perfectly fine.
Speaker BBut I love to plan ahead so that I can really cultivate an entire experience.
Speaker BSo then I've taken it a step further.
Speaker BAnd because I've planned so far in advance, and I know so many women that I want to be on the podcast are going to be at the summit as well, I've reached out to a few of them and I've been like, hey, I'M going to be in Georgia from this day to this day.
Speaker BWould you have 30 minutes to sit down with me and record a podcast episode?
Speaker BI've had a few reach out and say that they would love to.
Speaker BAnd I, because this is so far in advance, I was able to find a podcast studio in this town that I'm going to, and they're going to let me book it for a couple of hours.
Speaker BAnd so since I've planned so far in advance, I can reach out to a couple more potential guest and get these really amazing women in person on the podcast.
Speaker BAnd I wouldn't have had that opportunity if I hadn't have taken the time to sit down and plan ahead.
Speaker BAnd there's also a couple more experiences that I'm going to take full advantage of.
Speaker BLike, while I'm there, I plan on doing a branding shoot.
Speaker BI'm going to see if I can find a local videographer and just see if they can do some lifestyle content.
Speaker BLike, I'm going to milk every second out of it that I can.
Speaker BAnd later on, you know, people are going to be like, oh, well, it looks like she did all these things and she worked so hard and she did all this and she did all that, but really all I did was give myself the time and the space to brainstorm the time and the space to be creative.
Speaker BAnd that's like so many other things that I'm doing in January.
Speaker BAnd this doesn't even just have to involve travel.
Speaker BIt can be if you've got, you know, friends coming over for an evening, or if you're working on a project, just get everything organized, get everything scheduled, get everything structured ahead of time.
Speaker BAnd then if you kind of release it and not overthink it, ideas will come to you in the shower.
Speaker BThey'll come to you when you're driving, you'll be like, oh, I.
Speaker BWhile I'm there, I can do this, or while they're here, I can do that, or while I'm out of town, I can run and go do this, and I can pick this up there.
Speaker BAnd that way you're not scrambling at the last minute.
Speaker BAnd if you want to come off as someone who I feel like I hear this all the time, like, oh, you made that look really easy.
Speaker BAnd most of the time it is easy, but it's because I thought about things two months in advance, I booked things months in advance, I thought things through, and then I allowed myself, I gave myself the time and the space to be creative, to brainstorm.
Speaker BI think everybody has that creativity in them.
Speaker BI think a lot of people just wait until the last minute on a lot of really important stuff.
Speaker BAnd if you're running around at the last minute, there's not going to be any room for creativity to come in.
Speaker BThere's not going to be any room for those really good ideas to download.
Speaker BAnd I think you're doing yourself a disservice if you wait until the last minute for stuff.
Speaker BSo, yeah, that is my short and sweet episode for the day.
Speaker BI literally was sitting here.
Speaker BOnce again, I want to make sure I look really good in January.
Speaker BSo I text Jessica.
Speaker BShe was already doing a microneedling before I leave and I was like, can we go ahead and throw some discord on there too?
Speaker BBut because I'm sitting here thinking things through, I'm like, okay, I want to make sure my skin looks really good.
Speaker BI'll book a spray tan.
Speaker BI'm going to go ahead and make a hair appointment.
Speaker BLike I can get.
Speaker BGo ahead and get all these things booked.
Speaker BSo that way I show up confident, I show up excited, I show up prepared.
Speaker BAnd while I'm there, because I was so organized and because I had things so planned in advance, if something comes up at the last minute, an opportunity, I'll be ready because I know that I've got everything else covered.
Speaker BI know I didn't forget everything or anything.
Speaker BSo yeah, that's my tip for the day.
Speaker BJust plan ahead so that you can give yourself the space, space and the time in the room to be creative and to have those really inspiring and extra and wow pops in your life.
