Welcome to Goa Stay of the second podcast.
Speaker AMy name is John and today we're joined by Clay and Chad from United Patriot Coin.
Speaker AHow are you guys today?
Speaker BGreat.
Speaker CDoing good.
Speaker AAwesome.
Speaker AWell, let's go ahead and dive in a little bit about who you guys are, what you do for United Patriot Coin.
Speaker AWe'll go a little bit deeper later on the show, but go ahead and just introduce yourself to the folks.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo my name is Chad Burge and I'm the general manager here at United Patriot Coin.
Speaker CWhich basically means that I kind of make sure everything goes smoothly on all sides of the business and ultimately means I get in trouble if something goes wrong.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BMy name is Clay O'Beir.
Speaker BI'm the new mismatous here at United Patriot Coin and Director of E Commerce.
Speaker BBasically what I do is I buy and sell the metals and make sure that we're able to fulfill our orders that come across online.
Speaker BAnd I've been doing this for about 30 years.
Speaker AAwesome.
Speaker AWell, we're going to jump into our first segment which is Rapid Fire Questions.
Speaker ARapid Fire Questions brought to you by Blackout Coffee.
Speaker ATry Blackout Coffee's goa.
Speaker ANo compromise blend.
Speaker AGet your freedom caffeinated from Blackout Coffee.
Speaker AYou can find that on the GOA store or app like Blackout Coffee.
Speaker ANow I'm gonna ask you guys five questions.
Speaker AYou can answer them as quickly or slowly as you want and we'll go from there.
Speaker ASo first question.
Speaker AIf you could go back in time and change history, would you?
Speaker BI would probably not now.
Speaker CYeah, I think.
Speaker CI think.
Speaker CI don't think I would either.
Speaker CI think we.
Speaker CNo, I wouldn't.
Speaker AAll right, what was your last impulse buy?
Speaker CA suppressor.
Speaker CYeah, I finally got got on.
Speaker CI bought a surefire RC2,556 suppressor.
Speaker CAnd yeah, that was my last sort of like impulse buy.
Speaker BMe probably something at Bass Pro Shops.
Speaker BA new fishing rod.
Speaker BThey just opened one up here down the road.
Speaker ASo, you know, those are good impulse buys.
Speaker ASee.
Speaker ADo you think aliens are real?
Speaker CWell, I know that they did.
Speaker CSo they did.
Speaker CDidn't they have like a congressional hearing on that over the last like day or two?
Speaker CAnd it sounds like maybe, but I don't know.
Speaker CThat's a hard one.
Speaker CI would say my instincts is to say maybe just because the universe is so big.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CYou know, mathematically, maybe.
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BI tend to lean that way.
Speaker BThere's a movie that came out, I think it was a late night called Fire in the sky and supposedly was true story.
Speaker BBut once you watch this show, you kind of start Thinking, you know, yeah, this.
Speaker BThis could be real.
Speaker AAll right.
Speaker AWhat have you been.
Speaker ABeen binge watching lately?
Speaker CI've been on the Penguin.
Speaker AOoh, good one.
Speaker CIt has been.
Speaker CIt's been very good.
Speaker CIt's crazy what they like that suit they put Colin Farrell in.
Speaker CLike, you can't even tell that's Colin Farrell.
Speaker CIt's.
Speaker CIt's pretty incredible.
Speaker CIt's been.
Speaker CThat's what we've been into lately.
Speaker BTulsa King all the way.
Speaker AOh, hit me right here.
Speaker AI love Tulsa King.
Speaker ASuch a good show.
Speaker AI've been.
Speaker ABeen watching.
Speaker ASo I finished the last episode of Tulsa King on the flight here the other day.
Speaker AI've been watching Lioness.
Speaker BYeah, that's a good show too.
Speaker BThat season two's out right now, so.
Speaker CYeah, that's good.
Speaker AI'm.
Speaker AI'm almost through season one, so I'm really, really excited for that last question.
Speaker AIf you could make one firearms movie realistic, which one would it be?
Speaker COne firearms movie realistic?
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CI don't know.
Speaker CWhen you say firearms movie, my immediate.
Speaker BLike a war movie or what, you.
Speaker CKnow, I don't know.
Speaker CSo it's like, I think about Heat, but Heat is pretty realistic, you know?
Speaker CSo I'm trying to think of, like, a movie that's firearms, but, like, not very realistic.
Speaker CMaybe like Police Academy or Tropic Thunder.
Speaker COh, yeah.
Speaker CTropic Thunder is a good one.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AThe one that we've gotten the most of from that question is Rambo First Blood.
Speaker CReally?
Speaker AYeah, it's.
Speaker AI don't know why everyone falls to the.
Speaker AEverybody.
Speaker AEvery guest that I've asked that to all say rambo, first Blood.
Speaker CReally?
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CDang, we blew it.
Speaker AIt's all right.
Speaker AWell, it's good to have new ones because I all like this.
Speaker CWell, I don't even.
Speaker CI think of a knife when I think about Rambo, you know, I don't even.
Speaker CYeah, and I think in first blood, like, what is it only, like, he only kills, like, one person.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CAnd so, I mean, there's guns involved, but I always think when I think Rambo, I think that big knife.
Speaker CSo don't blame you.
Speaker AThat's what I think too.
Speaker ABut everyone keeps saying they're like, oh, the M60 scene should have been more realistic.
Speaker AReally?
Speaker CThat's interesting.
Speaker CI'm have to go back and rewatch it.
Speaker ASo that is our rapid fire question segment.
Speaker AThat again is brought to you by Blackout coffee.
Speaker AAgain, check out Blackout coffees.
Speaker ANo compromise blend support companies that support goa.
Speaker AGo get yourself some blackout coffee today.
Speaker ASo we're going to dive into the meat and potatoes of this.
Speaker ATell us a little bit about United Patriot Coin, how the business works, what you guys all do.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo United Patriot Coin was started by a pair of brothers named Scott and Glenn Hynen.
Speaker CThey're farmers and agricultural.
Speaker CThey're in the agriculture industry up in Kansas and they put together a team here after wanting to get involved in.
Speaker CIn gold and.
Speaker CAnd in guns actually.
Speaker CAnd basically it was started with the idea of they had been buying gold and silver for a long time and they had kind of made a lot of the mistakes that a lot of people do when they first got get into it.
Speaker CAnd they wanted to start a company from out of those mistakes and kind of do more like an education first company and bring something a little bit different to the market as opposed to, you know, leading with what we want to sell.
Speaker CWe're trying to do what's right for the customer and educate the customer and, and and help them avoid some of the pitfalls that.
Speaker CThat they had avoid that we've all.
Speaker CWe've all made and all seen in the past.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd that's great to hear.
Speaker ASo you guys deal with gold and silver.
Speaker AThere's a ton of different options.
Speaker AI know you guys have some cool props you want to show off.
Speaker ASo let's go show some cool stuff off.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CI'll turn it over to my numismatist since he's the.
Speaker BI would say probably for this show we've got a 50 caliber silver bullet which is 10 ounces of pure silver.
Speaker BThey also make these in 5 ounces which are shotgun shells which are pretty cool.
Speaker BAnd they make a 2 ounce.308 and 45 for the 1 ounce.
Speaker BSo they come in different, different sizes and they're just pretty cool.
Speaker BFor know they're a little bit more than what you would pay for, you know, just the silver content.
Speaker BJust because it's kind of more of a novelty, you know.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd then we've got this second amendment round here.
Speaker CSo this is five ounces of silver.
Speaker CGot a patriot there on the front and then on the.
Speaker CThe second amendment on the back.
Speaker CSo well r regulated militia on there.
Speaker CAnd yeah, we've got, we've got some old stuff here too.
Speaker CSo we've got some old sort of pirate gold.
Speaker CThis is like an escudo back in the day.
Speaker CSo this is a 1734.
Speaker CSo from before America was even born then we can even go older than that.
Speaker CWe've got.
Speaker CThis is kind of Clay's expertise.
Speaker CHe's really into ancient coins.
Speaker CSo this is a 2,500-year-old Greek Greek silver coin there.
Speaker BAthenian AL.
Speaker BIt's 440 to 404 BC.
Speaker BAnd it's kind of crazy, you know, how good a condition these things can be in being that old.
Speaker ANuts.
Speaker BYeah, it is.
Speaker BIt's pretty crazy.
Speaker BSo considering they didn't have a minting process and everything like that back then, everything was just done by hand and with a hammer.
Speaker CI told you, he's into the ancient stuff.
Speaker AListen, I can talk ancient Rome, Greece, all that stuff.
Speaker AIt's crazy to see.
Speaker ALike you said, they're the we.
Speaker AI've seen them in the past.
Speaker ALike you can't copy that because it's just so, like they're just doing it by hand.
Speaker CYeah, right.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker BAnd you know, the people that were making the, the coinage and stuff like that, that's what I really like about, you know, coins and things like that is it's art and history all balled up into one, you know, and the people that were actually, you know, designated to make these were like the best artist in the whole region, you know, was appointed to make the currency.
Speaker BSo a lot of history, a lot of art.
Speaker BReally cool.
Speaker ASo you're saying I wouldn't get that job is what you're saying?
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BI mean, you might.
Speaker BThis, this coin here is a $20 Saint Gaudens, which was commissioned for Augustus Saint Gaudens and he's a well known sculptor and he passed away in 1907, right before these things went into, in the circulation.
Speaker AI'm sitting here, I'm listening to this episode.
Speaker AHow do I get into precious metals?
Speaker AI'm interested.
Speaker AI want to hedge my bets.
Speaker AI want to get more precious metal in case something crazy happens.
Speaker AHow do I get into this?
Speaker AWhat's the, what's the best way to get into all this?
Speaker CSo you can call us at, at our phone number, which is on our website, or I'll say it here in a second, but you can go to unitedpatriotcoin.com you can sign up for our, our newsletter there called the Patriot Dispatch, which puts out a lot of great information.
Speaker CUm, and then, yeah, do some research there.
Speaker CObviously YouTube is a great resource as well.
Speaker CI would encourage you to go do some research on YouTube and then, yeah, call us and, you know, we'll help guide you through what you're looking to achieve and, and tailor towards your goals and what you're wanting to do.
Speaker ASo if I, if I go, I call you guys and I say, hey, I want to do $20 a month and silver, gold, whatever.
Speaker AWhat's the best way to start doing that?
Speaker CSo our most popular entry product is called our Patriot pack.
Speaker CWhich starts around, it's around a 200 price point.
Speaker CAnd what that comes with is you get a couple 1 oz silver rounds.
Speaker CThese are pretty cool because these are actually divisible.
Speaker CSo you can break these, you can see like the little, little cuts in them.
Speaker CYou can break those apart into little quarter ounce pieces.
Speaker CAnd then you get five little one gram bars.
Speaker CAnd then you get one one gram piece of gold too.
Speaker CI don't know if you could see that gold in there.
Speaker CAnd it all comes in a cute little, cute little, we'll call it manly bag.
Speaker CAnd you can put it all in there.
Speaker CAnd that's something that we're, we're starting to see more and more of is.
Speaker CIs people wanting to do that monthly subscription or a monthly purchase amount.
Speaker CWith silver being at like $30 an ounce right now.
Speaker CYou know, I'd probably start.
Speaker CYou try to get you to go a little bit higher than $20.
Speaker CBut you know, you could get in there if you want to.
Speaker CBut the smaller amounts you got to think about, you can end up paying a little bit more of a premium.
Speaker CSo because it's harder and harder to make smaller and smaller pieces.
Speaker CSo I would want you to.
Speaker CI'd probably say let's, let's do a little bit more.
Speaker CYou know, let's go for like a hundred bucks or 200 bucks or something like that.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd if someone is interested in this any.
Speaker AI mean people have seen the way the world is and a lot of people are coming back to precious metals.
Speaker AYou know, why would I want to.
Speaker AWhat would be the best benefit to invest in precious metals over throwing it into a stock market or throwing it into an investment fund?
Speaker AAnd what, what's the value of holding on to some of that precious metals that we.
Speaker AWe've done away with?
Speaker AMost people have just kind of done away that.
Speaker AAnd as a society we've gotten off the gold standard and all that stuff.
Speaker AHow do we.
Speaker AWhat's the benefit of all this?
Speaker BI would say just your purchasing power has remained the same.
Speaker BI mean the things.
Speaker BWhen gold was $20 an ounce back in 1933, it bought one ounce of gold.
Speaker BWould buy the same amount of stuff that it would today.
Speaker BOkay, but how many 20 bills does that take?
Speaker BYou go back 2, 500 years when this coin was made.
Speaker BThis amount of silver back then would buy the same amount of products as it would today.
Speaker BSo the purchasing power of gold and silver have remained same.
Speaker BThe only difference is, is, you know, the value of a dollar.
Speaker BYou know as well as I do $20 doesn't buy what it did, you know, five, six, 10 years ago.
Speaker BNot even close.
Speaker BBut the, the purchasing power of your, of your gold and silver, whether the price of gold goes up or down is really, know, doesn't matter.
Speaker BIt's just the value of that at that time and what you can get for it.
Speaker CYeah, it's really about wealth preservation and, you know, the freezing of that, of that, of that value of that money that you have.
Speaker CAnd I never really like to consider it like an all or a nothing or a this versus that.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CYou know, I think diversification is, is the key when it comes to everything, you know, because, yeah, you just don't want to put all your eggs in one basket.
Speaker CSo for me, most of the time it's like, yeah, I encourage you to have some stocks, but I also encourage you, yeah, let's have some gold and silver, let's have some bonds, let's have some, a mixture of different things.
Speaker CAnd then even diversity within, within the diversity, you know, just because it, it covers you either way, no matter what's going.
Speaker CAnd then we really look at precious metals as a, as a mid to long term thing.
Speaker CYou know, this isn't something that you buy today and sell tomorrow.
Speaker CThis is something that you hold on to for the long term, you know, and, and generally most people, most of our customers are passing it down, you know, just like you do with firearms.
Speaker CUh, they're not normally something you sell.
Speaker CYou know, you're something that you pass down to your kids and to your grandkids.
Speaker CAnd it's like my dad always says, you know, he's given me some guns over the years and he says, son, don't you ever sell those.
Speaker CAnd if you ever get into a financial bind like that, you know, call me first before you start trying to sell guns or something like that.
Speaker CAnd it's kind of the same thing with, with gold and, and silver as well.
Speaker BYeah, my dad always said, we don't sell guns, we'll trade guns, but we don't sell them.
Speaker AHey, you're not supposed.
Speaker AWe're not selling guns.
Speaker ANo, no, I'm with you guys.
Speaker AI don't sell any guns.
Speaker AI'd rather hold on to them.
Speaker AThe value just goes up and up.
Speaker ASo I call you guys, I decide to go invest $200, get my pack.
Speaker AHow do I receive that?
Speaker AIs that something that I, I have to Go to a storefront for.
Speaker ADoes it get mailed to me?
Speaker AHow's that work?
Speaker BNope, it's completely mailed to you.
Speaker BIf you were to go on the online and place your order, you know, take your payment over on the website, verify you, make sure you're not fraud, because we don't want anybody out there using your credit card buying gold and getting it shipped somewhere else.
Speaker BSo it'll have to be shipped to your billing address and then it'll get shipped directly to you once your payment clears.
Speaker BIf it's over, you know, a certain dollar amount, it will be ship FedEx and you'll have to sign for it.
Speaker BBut smaller packages like these Patriot packs or something, we just go ahead and put those in the, the regular postal service and get it to you.
Speaker AAnd then when I get it, what's the, the best way to store it?
Speaker ADo you just throw it in a safe?
Speaker BIs there most safes.
Speaker CGun safe?
Speaker CYeah, throw it in, put it in.
Speaker BThere with a gun safe?
Speaker CYeah, throw it in there with a gun safe.
Speaker COr you know, some people do safety deposit boxes at the bank and stuff like that.
Speaker CBut you know, I would think most of, most of the viewers here probably have a gun safe.
Speaker CSo I'd put it in there.
Speaker BPeople used to bury it in their chicken coops because it was a good, you know, if someone's getting into chickens, you're knowing it, so.
Speaker CYeah, that's true.
Speaker AI've, I've heard stories about in the south, people digging up silver and gold in their backyard, not knowing it's there.
Speaker ASomebody left it there.
Speaker AIt's, it's a thing.
Speaker CIt is, yeah.
Speaker ASo if I buy stuff from you, right, do, do I have to fill out any paperwork?
Speaker AIs there anything that I have to do, claim, do anything like that?
Speaker AOr is it just like I, it shows up at the house, I'm good to go?
Speaker CYeah, pretty much.
Speaker CYou know, obviously I need to know where to ship it, you know, and then if you're going to pay by credit card and stuff like that, then you know, that all needs a checkout, you know, when the credit card process.
Speaker CBut other than that, no, there's no, no forms or, or no reporting requirements or anything like that.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd then I, if I buy it from you guys and you know, 10 years go by coming to money crunch.
Speaker ADo I call you guys to go sell it back to you?
Speaker BDefinitely.
Speaker BGive us a call back.
Speaker BWe're, we're two way market buying and selling.
Speaker ASee, precious metals is something I'm starting to get into.
Speaker AI really like the idea of having some on it on hand.
Speaker AWhat, what would be the, the best amount to just keep on hand?
Speaker AYou guys have a recommended amount or is there something that a recommended yearly monthly buy that should, you know, I.
Speaker BThink that depends on everybody's financial situation.
Speaker BYou know, some people, I mean, we've got people that, you know, they'll do thousand dollars a month.
Speaker BYou know, we got some people that do a lot more than that.
Speaker BBut then we have some people that just, you know, can do a couple hundred dollars a month.
Speaker BAnd, and you know, we treat them the same as if they're coming in here and spending a half a million dollars at a time.
Speaker CYeah, I think most kind of like financial advisors, which, which we're not, but they'll recommend, you know, anywhere from like 10 to 15% of your overall portfolio within precious metals in normal times.
Speaker CYou know, obviously if you think some people are.
Speaker CThis is not normal times, you know.
Speaker CSo we're hoping that it gets better very soon here in the near future, obviously.
Speaker CBut you know, so within that range.
Speaker CBut yeah, like, like we were talking about before.
Speaker CDiversity is key too.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd when is the, what do you think is the best time to purchase precious metals?
Speaker AIs it when the market's down?
Speaker AIs it now?
Speaker AIs it like what, what is the best time to kind of find those precious metals and, and start investing?
Speaker BSo I would say any, there's not the best time.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BIf you've got the funds available to do it, I'll do it.
Speaker BYou know, if it's, if it's there for you, if you try to time it.
Speaker BAnd I've been in this market for 30 years and I'm going to tell you right now, every time I make a purchase of gold or silver, it goes down.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BEvery time I sell, it goes up.
Speaker BBut like I was saying earlier, the purchasing power is what you're looking at over a long term period of time.
Speaker BSo trying to time it, you know, oh, gold's going down.
Speaker BLet me just, you know, wait and see.
Speaker BYou know, is it good to buy now or should I wait till next month?
Speaker BYou know, there's really not a.
Speaker BI mean, I would say now.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CYeah, I think there's that, you know that old saying about the best time to plant a tree.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CYou know, and I always try to encourage people to pull out the chart and kind of look at the macro, you know, like, you know, it, yeah, it looks cool to look at the daily charts of the, of the gold and silver price or monthly.
Speaker CBut it's, you Know, pull out and look at that 5 year, 10 year, 20 year pricing of gold and silver and see what it's been doing.
Speaker CAnd, and then, you know, if you buy along that time, you know, that's where you should be making that decision.
Speaker CIt's like Clay said, it's impossible to time the market, you know, so it's just really about just continuing to add.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd if I'm looking at this, I'm looking at the price of gold, I'm looking at the price of silver.
Speaker AI see silver's $30 an ounce.
Speaker AYou know, I get more silver for my bank, for my buck.
Speaker ADo I.
Speaker AShould I diversify into both or is it there one way if I say, hey, I just want silver or hey, I just want gold, or should I diversify between the two?
Speaker BI would definitely diversify between the two.
Speaker BBut you got to keep in mind, okay, so $20,000 worth of silver, it's going to be really hard for you to move around.
Speaker BOkay, 500 ounces right now is probably, you know, 18,000.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BThat's going to be really hard for you to move around.
Speaker BIf your house catches on fire or something like that and you're trying to get stuff out, you're going to go for your guns and you're going to go for your gold and you're going to go for pets, hopefully, you know.
Speaker CWait, where's your wife?
Speaker BWife, hopefully she's helping me carry stuff out, you know, but, but now silver's extremely heavy when it comes to, you know, 20, $30,000 worth of it, whereas gold, I could put, you know, 50, $60,000 worth of gold in my pocket and you'd never know I had it.
Speaker BIt's, you know, just a lot more portable, I would say.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker BBut you know, some people really die hard on silver.
Speaker BSome people really die hard on gold.
Speaker BIt's just your preference.
Speaker AAnd then when we're looking at that, is it better to get, like you showed off the, the ones that break into pieces, you know, those are great for.
Speaker AIf you're bartering with people or stuff like that.
Speaker AIs it more, Is it better to get coinage, novelty stuff, things like that, or is it better to get, you know, what do you guys recommend if I'm going to be carrying this around?
Speaker ALet's just say the world ends and I gotta go barter with people and I gotta carry this stuff around.
Speaker AWhat's better in my.
Speaker AWhat's the best way to.
Speaker ABest options?
Speaker CYeah, so for that, for that situation.
Speaker CYeah, that's exactly what our, our Patriot Pack was originally designed for number one.
Speaker CIt's an affordable entry point to get into precious metals.
Speaker CBut it was really designed for, for that sort of bartering situation in mind.
Speaker CBecause you can break down, you know, the, the 1 ounce rounds into smaller pieces.
Speaker CYou can break down the little one gram pieces down in, into little one gram pieces.
Speaker CYou know, that's where I would go.
Speaker CI initially, I wanted to answer that with like, buy what you like.
Speaker CYou know, I like different coins.
Speaker CYou know, I like to collect the stuff that's military related or World War II related and that kind of stuff.
Speaker CBut for that particular, you know, if you're foreseeing bartering and stuff like that, then Patriot Pack is a great place to start.
Speaker CWe have what's called constitutional silver or junk silver, which is 90% silver from basically American coinage that was minted before 1964.
Speaker CAnd what I mean by that is like regular coins, like quarters, dimes and stuff like that, that actually used to be real money.
Speaker CIt had 90% silver in it.
Speaker CSo that kind of stuff.
Speaker CAnd then, you know, I think Clay was having this here.
Speaker CWe have these combi bars.
Speaker CYou know, these are little 10 gram pieces of silver that.
Speaker CIt's like a Hershey bar.
Speaker CYou can break it, break it apart.
Speaker CSo that's the kind of stuff I would, I would be getting in a.
Speaker CFor a bartering situation.
Speaker CIf you're not getting prepared for that, then, you know, diversify into other stuff and get what you like.
Speaker AYeah, I mean, I, I think those 50 cal rounds are calling my name.
Speaker AThose are.
Speaker CThey're super cool.
Speaker AThey're.
Speaker AThat's super cool.
Speaker CWe actually, we brought.
Speaker CSorry to cut you off.
Speaker CWe.
Speaker CWe actually exhibited at the.
Speaker CAt Goals in Knoxville and that was one of.
Speaker CThat was such a popular item to have.
Speaker CWe had those 50 cal rounds out and people just loved, loved them.
Speaker AI want you speaking of Goals because I appreciate you guys being at the show.
Speaker AIt was a first time event.
Speaker AIt was a great success for us.
Speaker AHow was it for you guys to be meeting with our members, seeing them?
Speaker AThey're passionate about gold and silver and things like that.
Speaker CIt was awesome.
Speaker CWe really, honestly, when we first got there, when we, when we got to Knoxville, we landed late.
Speaker CI think it was like midnight or something like that.
Speaker CI really thought we were in trouble for a second because it was like 45 minutes for an Uber, you know, and all this.
Speaker CI was like, oh man, this could be, this could be bad.
Speaker CAnd then.
Speaker CBut I was really impressed by the turnout at Goals.
Speaker CSo much so that we're.
Speaker CWe're going again next year.
Speaker CWe signed up, we want the same booth and everything.
Speaker CIt was really great to be able to connect with, with other second amendment supporters and talk to everybody and the turnout was really impressive and we had a really good time.
Speaker BI think it was a good show.
Speaker ADid they?
Speaker ABecause I haven't talked, I haven't talked to you guys since the show.
Speaker AWhat was that?
Speaker AWhat was our members reception of gold and silver and just talking to you guys about it.
Speaker BI think there was a lot of curiosity, you know, because they, I don't think they were expecting to see gold company set up there and we were right by the concession.
Speaker BSo there was a lot of, a lot of traffic coming by several times a day.
Speaker BBut they, a lot of them, you know, if when they looked over and they saw we had they, they stopped and they were curious and there was a lot of questions that we were able to answer and you know, I think that's why we'll go back for sure because it just seems like there was a lot of curiosity and a lot of, of people that were interested in it.
Speaker BYou know, they had never even thought about it before, you know.
Speaker BAnd then you had some guys that have been like, oh, I've been buying silver for 40 years and I'm, you know, I'm going to keep buying it, blah blah, blah, you know, but there's a lot of curiosity and, and I think it was good to answer those questions and, and introduce those people to this.
Speaker BAnd it's another form of, you know, protecting your, your wealth.
Speaker CAnd what I, what I was also really surprised about was there was people that had gold and silver on them.
Speaker CSo like we had a bunch of people come up to us.
Speaker CYou know, there was ladies who had necklaces and they would pull out and they had little like these little one gram pieces like in their necklace like ready to pop out and like trade.
Speaker CThere was, there was guys who were like opening their wallets and they had like the little credit cards with like pieces of silver or pieces of gold in it.
Speaker CSo I was, that part was really surprising to me was like seeing people just like oh look, I've got gold on me.
Speaker CYou know, they were like ready to barter and so that was cool.
Speaker AYeah, I mean what were some of the questions you were.
Speaker ABecause it is a gold and silver is one of those things and that are curiosity people and a lot of people like you mentioned don't remember or at least the newer generations don't remember silver coins and silver dimes and quarters and how we were on the gold standard and the, the dollar bill said, hey, this is, you know, redeemable for silver at any time, or gold.
Speaker ANow what were those questions?
Speaker ABecause it is a curiosity because a lot of people are like, oh, it's just gold and silver.
Speaker AThey put it around your neck or put it on your hands.
Speaker ANot a lot of people invest in it or keep it as much as they used to.
Speaker CRight?
Speaker CYeah, it was, it was like a really great mixture.
Speaker CYou know, the younger people, like what you're saying, really didn't know that America used to make, you know, and still does make gold coins and stuff like that.
Speaker CWe did have some of the paper, the silver certificates, like what you're talking about.
Speaker CAnd so a lot of it was like education, you know, just talking to people about, yeah, this is what we used to do, and this is what, what used to happen here in this country.
Speaker CAnd this is real money, you know, it's not just, you know, fiat currency, like kind of what we have now.
Speaker CBut then, like Clay was saying, there was also a lot of people just coming up, you know, who.
Speaker CThey already knew everything.
Speaker CThey was like, they knew stuff, you know, they were teaching us stuff about things.
Speaker CAnd so it was pretty cool.
Speaker CBut what were some of the questions you got, Clay?
Speaker BA lot of the questions, you know, were the ones that you've been asking here.
Speaker BSo how do I do this?
Speaker BYou know, how do I get started?
Speaker BHow much should I buy?
Speaker BThings like that.
Speaker BJust really basic questions that, you know, that we were able to answer and then point them in the direct direction for, for their needs, basically.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd that's the, the big thing that I've learned about gold and silver because I, my gold and silver experience is 50 cent pieces and dimes.
Speaker ABecause I used to work, I used to work at cash register.
Speaker ASo people come up and go, yeah, wait a second, that's.
Speaker AIt's a little shinier, a little different.
Speaker CLooks different, makes a different sound.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AAnd so I, I bought five rolls of mercury head dimes when I was working at a cash register.
Speaker ABecause people, I opened it, I looked at it, I was like, wait a second.
Speaker ANope, those are mine.
Speaker AI'll pay.
Speaker AI'll put the money in the drawer.
Speaker ABut it's, it's those things where even now you may come across a silver quarter or silver dime somewhere.
Speaker AYou know, how, how do you tell if you.
Speaker AIf it's silver?
Speaker AYou don't know.
Speaker BSo basically, the date is the easiest way to tell anything.
Speaker B64 and before is going to have be 90% silver.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BWe've got clients here that actually go to banks and buy rolls and bags and of half dollars and quarters and things like that.
Speaker BAnd they'll just run it through their machines.
Speaker BThey've got certain, you know, counting machines that will throw aside the silver coin.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CIt's like a treasure hunt for them.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker BAnd they'll do it.
Speaker CThey'll.
Speaker BThey'll go to the bank and spend or $4,000 getting coins, come back, sit in their garage or at their table at home and just do that for fun.
Speaker BAnd, you know, and if they.
Speaker BAnd sometimes they'll, you know, they'll walk away making a couple hundred dollars out of one batch, you know, and then they'll just bring them back and do it again at another branch.
Speaker BYou know, it's.
Speaker BIt's, you know, it's.
Speaker BIt's fun for some people.
Speaker BA lot of.
Speaker BSome people really get into the collecting aspect of it, which is, you know, really fascinating for me.
Speaker BYou know, when you have these old pieces from, you know, ancient or 1734 or something like that.
Speaker BI mean, you can see, once you hold these things in your hands, you can see how you could kind of get an attachment to.
Speaker BTo different coins and stuff like that.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd on the older stuff, this is a question that I'm pondering.
Speaker AOn the older stuff, is it more the value of the weight of the metal or is it more the value of how old it is?
Speaker BSo the age of it really doesn't have a whole lot to do with it.
Speaker BWhat you're looking at really is history, condition, and supply, you know, and demand, you know, condition, you know, this thing being, you know, from 1734, it's in a state 61 condition, it's uncirculated, meaning it doesn't have any wear or tear on it.
Speaker BYou know, and that's pretty incredible for a coin being that old.
Speaker BThat's going to determine the value of it and then also how many of them are in this particular grade or higher.
Speaker BAnd of course, you've got to have a, you know, quite a few people wanting.
Speaker CRight to.
Speaker BTo create the demand on it.
Speaker ASo if I.
Speaker AIf I've got precious metals.
Speaker ALet's just say I've invested in precious metals.
Speaker AI go to a gun store, I want to buy something.
Speaker ACan I.
Speaker ADo you think they'll take my precious metals off of my hands?
Speaker AOr is that something.
Speaker BSay if, if it's.
Speaker BIf it's one of the guys that.
Speaker BThat came up to our booth and says, I buy gold and silver all the time, and he's a gun guy and he owns a gun shop.
Speaker BHe'll probably trade you for sure.
Speaker CYeah, I think there's a.
Speaker CThere's a pretty good chance that you can.
Speaker CYou know we have.
Speaker CI have some local customers here that they barter at the locals farmer's market with silver.
Speaker CYou know we've done stuff where we've bought hunting trips with silver, stuff like that.
Speaker CSo yeah, I mean it's definitely something that it's.
Speaker CIt's becoming.
Speaker CIt.
Speaker CIt's becoming more common for sure.
Speaker BI mean you want to tell them about supply and they've got gold and stuff there at the.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd then I mean like our, our sister company United Patriot Supply, our physical location is in for that store is in Sitica, Kansas.
Speaker CThey have gold and silver on.
Speaker COn display there.
Speaker CAnd yeah, they're.
Speaker CThey're all into it there too.
Speaker ASo yeah, I was gonna ask good.
Speaker AYou know, if I, if I want to come visit you guys and handle some of this stuff and look at it.
Speaker ASo it'd be United Patriot Supply, I would go in there and handle it or is there a way to come and just sit down and talk with you guys in person?
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CSo you got two options if you're.
Speaker CYou can go there to Seneca, Kansas to our shop there, United Patriot Supply.
Speaker CThey've got some gold and silver on hand there for you to look at.
Speaker CAnd then if you're local to the.
Speaker CWe're located in Shenandoah, Texas which is right north of Houston.
Speaker CYou can set.
Speaker CCall us and set an appointment here and come spend some time with us here.
Speaker CSo you got two different options there and then other than that the website is.
Speaker CIs the other place you would go.
Speaker AThat's awesome.
Speaker AWell, we are at the halfway point.
Speaker AI appreciate you guys.
Speaker AChance on the.
Speaker AWe're at our halfway point.
Speaker AWe're going to go to our next segment which is from the soapbox.
Speaker AThat's where we talk policy.
Speaker AOur biggest frustrations gripes everything with politicians, ATF and anything in between.
Speaker AThis is brought to you by Patriot Mobile.
Speaker AUse code GOA at checkout at Patriot Mobile for one month free.
Speaker APatriot Mobile uses all the big wireless networks able to switch networks if you want as well as they are Pro freedom, pro America.
Speaker ASo go ahead and check out Patriot Mobile again.
Speaker AUse code GOA to get your first month of service free.
Speaker ASo this is where we stand on our soapbox and preach to the choir.
Speaker AWhat did your guys take from the soapbox?
Speaker CSo I would really like to bring some awareness to something that we've started to see rising especially this year, which is a rise in, in what's called a tech support scam and it's a gold scam.
Speaker CAnd basically what's been going on is you get a pop up on your computer and it seems like you need to call Microsoft or some sort of official sounding technology company or manufacturer.
Speaker CAnd then you call them and then next thing you know they're saying your accounts are compromised, you're in trouble.
Speaker CAnd then you get transferred to someone who's appearing to be a government representative from either the Department of Treasury or the FTC or some sort of very official sounding thing.
Speaker CAnd now all of a sudden you need to protect all of your money.
Speaker CAnd the way you need to protect all your money is to buy gold bars and give it to them.
Speaker CYou got to give this gold bars to the Treasury Department so they can keep it in a Treasury locker for you and save your money until you get everything sorted out.
Speaker CAnd you know, when I'm saying it like this, it sounds like something like, oh yeah, you would never the sound like obviously there's a bunch of red flags here, right?
Speaker CBut this is, there's a lot of victims.
Speaker CIf you do a Google search on this, you'll see a lot of people are following.
Speaker CI'm talking millions and millions and millions of dollars is being scammed, primarily targeting the elderly, but it's obviously also others are falling victim as well.
Speaker CAnd you know, it's something that I just wanted to really kind of bring.
Speaker CThat's where I want to.
Speaker CIt feels so boxy because it's really tough, um, to see people, you know, lose everything they worked for their whole lives for and, or a lot, or a lot of money just thinking that they were doing something right and then next thing you know, you know, all their money was gone.
Speaker CAnd yeah, sorry, it's not gun related.
Speaker BBut yeah, no, we've had a few scenarios like that happen this year with some clients of ours that, that got scammed for a significant amount of money.
Speaker BAnd we were trying to figure out how this is actually happening.
Speaker BYou know, how they trusting these people to buy gold from us and this meeting them and give them, just handing them their gold.
Speaker BAnd then I saw this movie that came out, it's called the Beekeeper and it's got Jason Statham in it.
Speaker BAnd it runs along the same line as what's happening in this industry is, you know, they get a pop up on their screen, they think everything's, you know, messed up with their accounts and they got to move money into this other account and stuff like that.
Speaker BAnd then once they do that, it's gone.
Speaker BYou know, so it's, there's a lot of, a lot of shady characters out there that are, that are pinpointing, you know, elderly and, and you know, people that, you know, are getting taken advantage of.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd we've, we've stopped, we've saved a few people as well from this.
Speaker CWe've started, we've put processes in place to, to ask questions and figure out what's going on.
Speaker CA lot of this stuff.
Speaker CAnd then, you know, we've also put out some newsletters and then we're also actively sharing, you know, where to go report this if it does happen.
Speaker CYou know, you go to the FBI, things like that, Department of Justice, and so they can, they can investigate and figure it out too.
Speaker ASo they're, they're telling them to buy gold and are they shipping it to them?
Speaker AAre they meeting them in person?
Speaker CSo.
Speaker BYes, go ahead.
Speaker CSo far it's been, from what I, the stories that I've read and heard, it's been a combination of mainly meeting them in person.
Speaker CSo one person, you know, they came to their house and, or they sent a third party carrier to come pick up the, pick up the gold from, from them directly at their house.
Speaker CAnother one, they had to go drive and, and meet a Department of treasury representative in, in a parking lot of a casino somewhere and you know, give them the gold and meet the Department of Treasury person.
Speaker CAnd you know, it sounds crazy, but it's.
Speaker CPeople are, it seems so official when people in the moment and they're scared and you know, you're not thinking fully through.
Speaker CAnd um.
Speaker CAnd yeah, so it's mainly in person.
Speaker AThat's insane.
Speaker BWe've, I mean, Chad's, Chad's had clients that he's talked to that we kind of suspected it at the beginning.
Speaker BAnd Chad was even like, listen, this is a scam that's going on.
Speaker BAre you sure you're not getting scammed?
Speaker BAnd these guys are so convincing to the, the person that's getting scammed.
Speaker BIt just straight up, I mean, Chad, you can share that.
Speaker BI mean, he's just like, no, this is, this is, this is legit.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd then, I mean, it'll, it comes out later sometimes that, you know, they were under threat.
Speaker CYou know, they, to, to, to lie, you know, say, yeah, no, I'm not giving it to anybody because they, they're being threatened with arrest.
Speaker CYou know, like they're thinking that they're dealing with someone official, you know, from the government, you know, and so they're thinking that if they lie, if they don't, if they try to, if they tell the truth, that like, yeah, I'm giving this to someone else or something like that.
Speaker CThey feel like they're going to get arrested, you know, and things like that.
Speaker CAnd so I think the moral of the story is, is.
Speaker CYeah, no government official or anybody will ever ask you for money for gold or silver or money or anything like that.
Speaker AThat's insane.
Speaker AThat.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker ASo they're meeting them in person or a third party carrier is coming up and they're claiming if they're from the Treasury Department.
Speaker AI feel bad.
Speaker AI do.
Speaker BIt is.
Speaker BIt's bad.
Speaker CIt is bad.
Speaker BIt is bad.
Speaker BBut, you know, once they, once they hand off that gold and have it in their possession and they just disappear.
Speaker AWell, it, it's scary that how quickly these scammers change their tactics.
Speaker AIt was, you know, the IRS and gift cards.
Speaker CYeah, exactly.
Speaker CSorry, go ahead.
Speaker ANo, go ahead.
Speaker CYeah, I mean, it's like, now you go to, like, I've started to see it, Walgreens or CVS or whatever.
Speaker CLike, now you go.
Speaker CYou see signs at the gift card section now that says you may be getting scammed, you know, And I think it's just one of those things where you got to get awareness out there, because in the moment, it seems so real to the victim, and it just really, really is unfortunate.
Speaker CIt is good.
Speaker CLike, it seems like some of these people are getting caught and it seems like some of the funds are getting recovered, but that's as long as they're being reported.
Speaker CYou know, you have those, those people are reaching out to the local law enforcement or to the Department of Justice, FBI and reporting it.
Speaker CIt's unfortunate that a lot of these people who end up, by the time they figured out, you know, they're so ashamed, you know, or embarrassed, they don't want to report it.
Speaker CYou know, they don't want to tell anybody that something happened or that they fell victim to it, you know, But I think it's very important that if you, if you do fall victim to something like this, like, you got to get out there and, and report it so we can.
Speaker CPeople can catch these guys, you know?
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AI mean, the scammers just change their tactics all the time.
Speaker ABut to go sound like you're from the Department of the treasury and then asking for gold and silver, something that's so precious.
Speaker AWild.
Speaker CIt is wild.
Speaker ADo they have like a dollar amount that they're asking for?
Speaker AIs there?
Speaker AOr is it just random?
Speaker CSo.
Speaker CSo that's where the, the technology part comes in.
Speaker CAt the beginning is most of the time the victim installs some sort of malware or some sort of ransomware or something like that, a virus on their computer, which then allows the, the scammer to watch and see what's going on.
Speaker CAnd so they'll get an idea of how much money this person has by watching them, like, log into their bank accounts and that kind of stuff.
Speaker CAnd so really, that's what it comes down to is like, they want all of your money, and, you know, as soon as they figure it out how much you have, they're coming after you for, like, that amount.
Speaker CAnd it's.
Speaker CIt's really scary.
Speaker AThat is.
Speaker AThat's a new one.
Speaker AI haven't heard of that one.
Speaker AI've heard of the, the gift card thing.
Speaker AI've heard of the, the Amazon ones where people get Amazon packages delivered to them.
Speaker AIt's not theirs.
Speaker ABut gold and silver, that's something so precious that people are holding onto for their investment and things like that.
Speaker AThat's just nuts.
Speaker BSo this, this industry has been a high target for fraud, you know, for a while now, especially since we all started selling online.
Speaker BYou know, so people would get other people's banking information and, and try to change their address and have it delivered.
Speaker BAnd by the time that account holder actually figured it out, you know, it's already delivered.
Speaker BWell, thank goodness, there's.
Speaker BThere's technology has come along and we've got fraud prevention software that runs everything before it actually, you know, takes the order and confirms it and everything else like that.
Speaker BI mean, Chad can tell you he's more smart on computer.
Speaker BIt runs their IP address and everything else.
Speaker BSo, you know, it kind of protects us.
Speaker BBut there is, you know, daily, on a daily basis here, we have orders and people that are just trying to use someone else's credit card or their banking information to buy gold every day.
Speaker AGood.
Speaker ASo you guys, you guys have systems in place that'll fly all that stuff and get it all done.
Speaker CYeah, we've got.
Speaker CWe've got technology in the background that, that automatically identifies fraudulent purchases and stuff like that and does a good job.
Speaker CAnd.
Speaker CYeah, and then obviously we phone orders.
Speaker CUm, you can.
Speaker CThey phone.
Speaker CPeople phone.
Speaker CThey.
Speaker CThey're getting pretty good, but they're still criminals, are not necessarily.
Speaker CThey're criminals because it's easy, right?
Speaker CYou know, and they're trying to make easy money and trying to do things as easy as possible most of the time.
Speaker CSo what I'm saying is, like, they're maybe not the most smartest group in the bunch a lot of the time, although they are getting smarter and smarter.
Speaker CBut it's usually pretty obvious when it's over the phone, thankfully.
Speaker CBut there's been a few close calls before in the past.
Speaker CBut luckily the technology has gotten really, really good at catching things that are just anomalous, you know, that don't make sense, you know, addresses mismatching and IPS and all this kind of stuff.
Speaker CSo it checks a lot of different factors to try to figure out whether a purchase is legitimate or not.
Speaker AWell, that's good to hear that you guys are protecting your customers in so many different ways.
Speaker AWe just had the election.
Speaker AEverything went on.
Speaker AWhat, what is the, what in your professional opinion?
Speaker AWhat's the forecast for precious metals?
Speaker CYeah, I think it's, I think historically, if you look back, gold is always pulled back, usually right after an election.
Speaker CSo gold and silver really thrive on sort of instability and economic uncertainty.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CIn which leading up to any election, that's what you have is instability and economic uncertainty.
Speaker CAnd so, yeah, historically you always have a little bit of a pullback after an election.
Speaker CAnd then you start, then after that the market starts to look back at the fundamentals of, of the economy, both locally here in, in America, but also globally.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CAnd I think what you'll find is we also have, we have a lot of uncertainty and a lot of instability across the world.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CYou know, you still got central banks buying gold at, at high levels.
Speaker CYou still got a country with what, $36 trillion in debt and growing.
Speaker CYou've got a lot of currency being printed.
Speaker CSo the fundamentals are all there for gold and silver to continue to thrive.
Speaker CNot to mention there's a lot of technological innovations that are going on that call for a high demand of silver.
Speaker CSo they've got that going for it too.
Speaker CBut like what we were talking about earlier, these are short term things.
Speaker CYou know, an election event or something like that is a short term event.
Speaker CI really encourage people to pull out, you know, and look at that 5, 10, 20 year view on gold and silver.
Speaker CAnd you'll see that no matter what happens, you know, gold is in.
Speaker CSilver has historically done really, really well.
Speaker CAnd it's just about wealth preservation.
Speaker CAnd it's like Clay said earlier too, it's about the freezing of that purchasing power.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd I know you're saying, look at the 20 year window and things like that.
Speaker AWhat are some key signs like when you, when you invest in the stock market, you can follow the stock, you Find that key time where it's time to buy and time to sell.
Speaker AWhere do you find that with.
Speaker AWith precious metals?
Speaker AIs there a key time where you're like, okay, now is the time to buy precious metals?
Speaker AWhere in the past, you know, I haven't done it as much, you know?
Speaker AYou know what I'm saying?
Speaker BYou know, I would, I would look at it like a savings account and a checking account.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BWhen do you put money in your savings account?
Speaker BI would look at gold and silver as kind of like your savings account.
Speaker BIt's going to be there.
Speaker BYou're not playing with it in the market, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker BYou know, because when I got into this industry, gold was a little under $300 an ounce.
Speaker BI never would have thought it hit 27, $2800 like it did the other day.
Speaker BYou know, never in my wildest dreams, but it did.
Speaker BAnd you know, I look at as a preservation of wealth.
Speaker BYou know, when do you put money in your savings account?
Speaker BDo you do it monthly?
Speaker BDo you do it quarterly?
Speaker BYou know, I look at it like that gold is kind of like your savings account, your checking accounts, what you're playing with and investing with in other areas.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd I mean to tie it around to guns.
Speaker CYou know, it's you, you protect your family and you protect your home with, with guns.
Speaker CRight.
Speaker CAnd it's.
Speaker CYou protect your wealth with gold and silver.
Speaker CYou know, there's, there's never a wrong time to do either of those things.
Speaker CIt's always good to, to.
Speaker CTo protect those, those things that are most precious to you, which is your family, your home and, and, and your wealth that you've worked so hard for.
Speaker ABefore we go into the wrap up, I just want to let you guys know, thank to our sponsor, Palmetto State Armory.
